I visit this restaurant a lot and the food is normally outstanding but today, 11/09/2023 the food was terrible. The server ( Jade T) was late getting to my table, but had an attitude while explaining the specials for the day. Once I placed my order, it came out fairly quickly and correctly but the sausage was totally dry and devoid of taste. Thank goodness I ordered a side of bacon. The waitress was somewhat attentive but didn't offer to refill my coffee and until I asked about while paying the check. The purpose of this post is to alert to the poor attitude and the poor service of the waitress. Will come back to the restaurant, yes despite of the service. So Batter and Berries made it out South near me to the South Burbs. The food was great. Especially the Banana Pudding French Toast. The service was great. The waitress Marcia was wonderful!! They don't have any liquor so I am assuming that they are getting a liquor license or maybe not. So to those reading this, BYOB! The only thing that was confusing was the waiting list which the hostess said they are currently working on a better system since they open this new location. Absolutely terrible customer service here. And the manager is useless. I got a to go order with chicken and waffles and got NO maple butter or maple syrup with it. The bag was tied tight like everything was in there and got home only to see no syrup or maple butter. Come back and waiting more than 10 minutes to talk with the manager. Too bad that Black owned establishments like this operate at a lower bar. read more

Food was delicious! I had the lemon French toast. They have in house sausage that wasn't flavorful. I chocked it up to perhaps a spice or two was forgotten during the preparation. Staff was friendly, food came out in a decent amount of time during a busy period. It took longer than I'd like for my order to be taken though. I used to go to the location on the north side, and my experience there was better. I ordered the blueberry French toast, and they were good but could have been better if they were warmer. My pork sausage was extremely dry and cold, but I did not ask the waitress to bring me another order. I've been rocking with Batter and Berries since the opening of the original location on Chicago's North Side. When Chef Rylon left, I'd not been back. I was very happy when I learned that B&B would be a new addition to the South Suburbs and looked forward to supporting. I've got to be honest and say that as a Frequent visitor of the original location, the food at this establishment is not nearly as good as it was when Rylon was chef. There have been attempts to maintain the quality of the food, however the flavor is just coming up short. Think corporate recipes at this point. The service was mediocre and slow. I mean who sets your plate in front of you and doesn't ensure that you have silverware? So not only did I wait 35 minutes to get in and another 30 for food... I also had to wait for silverware. My order was the lobster omelette. Though it was good, the cook failed to remove tendons in the lobster so I was forced to take food out of my mouth. The hash browns... the cheesy hash browns? The cheese was burnt to form a hard crust. I'm not sure if I'll be back. read more

The biscuits and gravy tasted like dry store bought biscuits and the gravy was a nasty tangy non breakfast tasting gravy. Just nasty, especially for the price. Well I went with friends to this establishment. It is completely overpriced & overrated. I ordered the Apple waffle I received 3 three caramelized apple pieces on the waffle no HOT nutmeg sauce and it was cold. Then the bacon I received was cold as well. My eggs were fortunately hot and good. ALMOST Everything is a la cart. Oh n you can BYOB for mimosas or something but you have to pay for juice from them WOW. The food took about 30 mins to come out and they were not that busy. We waited about 15 mins to be seated which wasn't bad even though they weren't that busy, I understood that for a table of 5 maybe we'd have to wait. We paid $28 for a shrimp and andouille sausage frittata that had 3 over cooked shrimp and 2 sausages, only to eat half of it due to an off flavor. The next comment is subjective, but in my opinion the portions of the French Toast for the price they charge isn't worth it. I scratched my itch but will not be back. read more

It's official. The south location for Batter and Berries is open. They're limited to the regular menu. No specials yet. They are not in full operation. They have taken over a spot where another restaurant was. They have seating in 1/2 of the establishment. It has potential for outdoor seating on beautiful days. I'd love to see how much larger the place will be and the capacity for seating. I can guarantee this place will be jumping. It is already. This is my second time eating at the restaurant, the food was ok. We came at 10 am and we're told that they were out of the chicken sausage, we do not eat pork so we could not have any meat with a meal. When the food arrived it was cold!!! I was not impressed. My sister and I visited the Olympia Fields location today. The customer service was fair. Not a good look when you walk in waiting to get seated and the hostess is busy eating at the front desk. I ordered the French Toast which was cold. The syrup and potatoes came out five minutes later. I asked one of the staff to heat up the French Toast. Took ten minutes for her to come back with cold French Toast again. This is the second time I have eaten at this location. First time was great. The young staff needs to be trained on how to receive customers. I would like to patronize this restaurant. I hope the next time I visit I will have a better experience. read more

The food was palatable but not as expected. Give them a little more time to work the kinks out. If you are an impossible sausage fan, be sure to request they cook your impossible sausage in a separate skillet or it will be cooked with meat products. The sausage was also standard sausage size, I expected the large saucer-sized impossible sausage as served at the Chicago location. I had the lemon French toast and it was gooey in the middle, which some people like but I don't. The atmosphere was a little loud for my liking, but that's because the tables are close. You can hear someone across the table in a private conversation, but you can also hear people across the room. The wait staff and hostess were respectful and professional. All in all, I'll wait a while before returning to see if there are any improvements. I really want this place to be great because I really like the Chicago location. read more

Upon entry the host told me it would be a 30 minute wait so I considered leaving because I was on lunch break. I decided to wait which only happened to be 7 minutes. Once seated we waited 12 minutes before being acknowledged by someone who said "give me a minute I'll be with you shortly," after walking past the table for the 3rd time. It was at least another 10 minutes before she actually came over. When she approached us there no sense of hospitality emotion or anything... just dryness. After receiving the food we were never checked on to see if we needed anything or how things were going. In fact we had to waive our hands just to get her attention. I would definitely say, join the wait list prior to arriving. If your in a rush this is not the place to go to. The greeters were not the friendly people you would expect considering the place up north. After finally being seated the service was very slow. Had to continually ask for coffee, the food did take awhile to arrive at table. However the food was delicious, the chicken sausages are very small considering the price that is charged.
