The service was great- our waiter was very funny, friendly, and efficient. Our food came quickly and we were served within minutes of sitting down. The quality of the food surprised me! It was amazing. The atmosphere of the restaraunt was another plus, between the beautiful view of the ocean and the casual and clean interior, Bayside Betsy's was great. We visited this restaurant for lunch on a November afternoon. We were not expected a crowd since it was really off season. The restaurant was nearly empty with more staff than patrons. With that said the service was horrible and the food slightly worse. We ordered the chicken croquets which were served burned on the outside and frozen in the center. How you accomplish that I don't know. The main dishes were no better. There were no apologies offered. read more

Great food and great service waiter was not only friendly but his service was on the money. A welcoming environment with a beautiful view even if you don't get to sit by the ocean view windows. A party of 6 of us went to Betsy's over Labor Day weekend. We were pretty hungry and stumbled upon this place after looking at a few menus. The choices seemed good, so we went in to see how long the wait would be. Betsy herself said, "about 10-15 minutes", we would be seated at one of two tables and pointed out which ones were soon to be available. 25 minutes later, we are still waiting... and one of the tables she said would be available to us is gone, cleared and reset.. and EMPTY! We stand staring at it, drooling.. while Betsy avoids eye contact and stays in the back. Finally, one person in our party marches to the back to ask her what the deal was, we've now been waiting 30 minutes to eat and the table is empty, to which she then replies, "oh that table is for a reservation". We wait another 15 minutes.. yes, a total of 45 minutes! Before we are seated. I understand it's busy, and Labor day weekend- just be honest about how long the seating is going to take so we can decide whether to stay or go! Then the service. The waiter was only so-so.. reluctant at first to split the bill, disappearing for long periods, never refilling our water. The food wasn't great either- lots of fried appetizers, and the sides on the dishes were bland. Two pasta dishes only had oil for a sauce, and two had tomato sauce that seemed to come out of a jar. I got the scallops over fettuccine, the scallops were good but the sauce made the dish almost boring. The drinks were overpriced and small. The only good dish was the ribs my friend got, which was a big portion and very tasty. This is the 2nd year we've been to P-Town and gone out to eat over this Labor Day weekend, and the 2nd disappointing experience, last year's being at Bubula's. Is there any good places to eat in P-Town? I'll be checking Yelp first next year! read more

We visited this local restaurant November 2013 during the off season with three kids and five adults. This amazing family-like staff treated us like we were old friends. They had sticker books and crayons for the kids. Then the service - it was so friendly and nice and prompt. Everything we needed. The food was amazing! Everything we had was delish and in huge portions, which our server very carefully put in takeout containers and sturdy bags. With three kids under seven, we were not exactly a small or quiet crowd. The staff treated us awesome. I wish I could return and if I am ever in this area, I most definitely will. What a great place. I am still missing that clam chowder! And eggplant fries! Favorite spot for breakfast at reasonable (for Ptown) prices. Good views of the Bay, attentive staff, full bar onsite for a little hair of the dog if you're needing that. We had a veggie omelet which was fluffy and the vegetables were fresh, and a Portuguese sausage scramble with perfect linguiça - spicy but not overwhelming. Food is decent at best & price is to expensive. But I would not waste my time going here. Food quality & kitchen is poor, very unsanitary. Food sits around for days before being served. All seafood comes from Sysco truck & is frozen from out of state. Fresh battered onion rings? They are frozen.... Fresh clam chowder? They are Canned clams.... Fresh lobster? It comes pre shucked & frozen in a bag.... Maryland crab cakes???? Are you kidding me, you obviously have never had a crab cake from Maryland.. These are bread cakes with canned crab, they don't even have Blue crab meat, they taste ok but they are not even close to Maryland Lump crab cakes. Change the name to cape cod crab cakes & people like me wouldn't wouldn't get their hopes up when receiving their meal. Fish and chips or anything with flounder or haddock are frozen fish from Sysco. The mussels are frozen as well, guess where they come from. The salad is old and yellow/browning. Oil in the frialator is never changed, you can taste it in your food, fries, onion rings or tater tots. The sliced meat they use for sandwiches is close to spoiling & smells awful. Want to talk about the oysters or chicken? This place is a bit underclass in my opinion, food is poorly made with low quality, the menu lies & the price is high. The kitchen is filthy and storage rooms & freezer are packed with old food that never gets rotated or thrown away. Only thing I would recommend here is breakfast. The omelet or French toast are decent but this doesn't say much as it's pretty hard to screw up eggs & toast. I won't get into the service, as the food is not worth giving any compliments or positive feed back & doubt you will even leave a tip, even if the wait-staff are professional, polite, kind and humorous, you won't remember the servers name or how pleasant they were when you are vomiting or holding back that explosive buck shot diarrhea from that New England Canned Clam chowder Sysco delivered, or that fresh caught Sysco baked haddock topped with fresh Sysco steamed mussels! Lol or how bout those "home made" battered onion rings? And to top it off that lovely home made desert!!! Mmmmmm.... I Love fresh made chocolate cake or apple pie with "home made"whip cream! Lol thank Sysco for those lovely deserts, they make them at home and specially deliver them for a small fee!! Avoid this place as much as possible unless you have low standards. Giving this a 3 on a good day. This was our go to for drinks and dinner at least 3-4 times during our week long visit but then Betsy left and it seemingly went down hill because of that. The bartenders are friendly but the wait staff is beyond awful, unless you're a gay man then you will get all the attention. Wait staff was slow, never stopped to refill drinks, offer bread or check how a meal was. Very sad but we are done coming here on our visits...there are so many choices that don't have rude staff and better food. read more

First let me say that I have been a customer of Betsy's since 1995 or 96. At that time she owned a different restaurant. My partner & I ate there almost every night we were in P-Town. My partner is THE true conniseur of clam chowder & every night, the waitress would come to the table & say to him, "A bowl of clam chowder and what else?" For my partner to eat clam chowder every night in the same restaurant, it HAS to be the best in the world. For awhile when I lived near Albany, I was in P-Town at least once a month and would ALWAYS eat at Betsy's. In 1999, I moved to Florida because of family obligations and didn't get back to P'Town until 2007. Since then I visit P'Town for 10 days every summer. When I'm in town, I eat ALL 10 nights at Betsy's. In all the years I have eaten at Betsy's, I can honestly say that I have NEVER had a bad or even a mediocore meal. Since I am there in August, I always make reservations and usually am seated within 15 minutes of the time, sometimes late because of others lingering after thier meal, not Betsy's fault. It would be rude to chase them out & Betsy would not do that. At least once a summer, I've shown up for dinner with extra people, & Betsy is never flustered & always accomodates me. This summer, I discovered the Crab Cake salad and had it at least two or three times. YUM!!! Also, in all the years I have eaten at the former or present location, servers have always been pleasant & attentive, as noted above with the clam chowder. One of the present servers has admitted to me of being a "curmudgeon", however I have known him since 1994, & he jokes about it, but has never been. In fact, he announced once that he had "been waiting on me for 100 years." And another may be a "little" flamboyant, but in spite of the show, service is always excellent. Knowing Betsy, she would not tolerate anything but. Friends of mine who are "townies" also enjoy Betsy's, some of them going to dinner with me while I am in town. My former partner and I have taken friends and relatives there who have always raved about the food & gone back on their own. That speaks volumes about any restaurant. Betsy's is is my favorite restaurant in town, and is hjghly recommended. And yes, I have eaten at a large number of the other restaurants in town, avoiding a few that are grossly overpriced. Betsy's is excellent food for a decent price. All in all, worth every one of those five stars. GO!!!! read more

If you're visiting the P-Town/Truro area at anytime, this place is a must. I ate here multiple times throughout the week with my wife and 14 month old daughter and it was outstanding. The lobster bisque is my personal favorite--in fact, it is the best I have ever had (I have had many in my time); as for my wife, she cannot get enough of the clam chowder and same for my little girl, she absolutely loves it! The lobster bisque is teeming with rich flavors and chock-full of lobster meat. The clam chowder isn't a run of the mill clam-flavored cream; instead, it too is packed with clams and has a distinct smokey flavor to it thanks to the addition of bacon. For breakfast, I highly recommend the english benedict, made with homemade cornbeef hash instead of the traditional ham--again, the portions weren't stingy as my breakfast was packed with corned beef; my wife got the goat-cheese and veggie omelet and that too was outstanding. Unfortunately, the down-side to eating here is that other meals to follow just cannot compare, especially the homefries. Again, another staple that I can honestly say is the best I have ever had. I have not explored the entire menu per se since my wife and I typically find meals we like and stick to them out of habit; however, based on what we've had thus far we highly recommend this restaurant. For those of you who have children, don't fear--Betsy is extremely nice and very accommodating (and dedicated, she's always around looking for ways to make your visit perfect!). In fact, she even went so far as to hold our daughter and make her laugh when she got fussy. We left after spending a week out in the area and I am certain our daughter missed Betsy as much as the beach. In addtion to Betsy is her staff, all of whom are extremely nice and courteous. read more
