Sometimes life leads you to a really tasty brewery and when it does, you imbibe. My sister and I were headed to Petco Park last night for a baseball game and as we were walking, this place caught our eye. We stopped in and ordered a couple brews from the super friendly bartender. She then told us to go upstairs and enjoy the rooftop bar. Whhhaatt??? Did you say rooftop bar?? We both headed upstairs and what a great space. Lots of tables, views, music and the vibe was perfect. We enjoyed our brews and shared the best protein bowl. Wonderful service even though I was from the opposing team. Ha! Ha! I will definitely return here n the future and highly recommend. Came here to try some of their beer on a Friday afternoon before an evening Padres game and I have to say this is one of the cooler hangout spots in the gaslamp area. For starters being this is a brewery they've got some solid beer so that makes it worth checking out. The rest of the place is just great. The main bar when you come in has the usually bar seating and high tables, they have a lounge type area in the back near the elevator, and speaking of the elevator that takes you upstairs to the nice bar deck they have with a cool view of the area and as additional covered bar area upstairs. The upstairs is the perfect spot to hang out on a cool afternoon and enjoy a few beers. read more

Stopped in for a few beers and a snack. Started with their Bay City IPA, very smooth and balanced. Ended up having three of them, such easy drinking. Also got an order of chips and guacamole. Chips were from a bag, so-so, though the guac tasted fresh and really went nicely with our beers. Meanwhile they play country music during the day apparently. Such a vibe kill for a space that really deserved downing more modern and interesting. Service was pleasant and quick. Btw, their rooftop lounge was closed, only open thurs-sun. So we hung out in their patio space which was fine. Definitely a cool neighborhood haunt. read more

It's a shame 10-stars isn't an option! I wanted to come here because I love beer and I read it was kid-friendly and thought there was an outside fenced-in area, but I was mistaken. The bartender was totally cool and didn't seem bothered that we had a toddler. We sat out on the front patio since the rooftop was closed. Our expectations were meh but wow- the beer was phenomenal, and the bartender had great suggestions. We ordered a pizza since we knew our toddler would eat that- the pizza was pretty good! I wish I asked for the bartender's name because he was exceptional. My husband and I haven't had service like that in a long time. He served us at the table, which he didn't have to, made great beer suggestions and great conversation. We are so happy we went! While I wouldn't say it's "kid-friendly", you could bring yours if they stay at your table (it's small) and like the food they serve (no kid's menu). read more

They have plenty of seating but I love the rooftop seating and there's even indoor seating on the rooftop in case it's raining. They usually have the sports games on in case that is your thing. While on a rare Saturday night off and no plans we decided to walk around to see where the night took us. Stopping into the Neighborhood which had over an hour long wait we skipped on over to Bay City brewing. We wanted to check out the rooftop and however it was closed. They had also stopped serving food early. They have some seating on the street patio. They have a pool table to hit around balls into the pockets of miss depending on your skill level. It was smart for some to bring cards to just sit back enjoy a game with a nice brewski. After looking over the choices and trying a few we got to talking with the staff and everyone was so friendly. Indulged myself with some beer from Bay City Brewing! Steve and I had their Peninsula Lager which we liked very much! This was a fine Vienna style Lager which is perfect to enjoy during the summer due to it's light bodied nature and the aftertaste of clean and crispness within the flavor profile. Other flavor elements to find with this beer are maltiness and sweetness. The sweet aspect isn't anything too in your face which doesn't make the beer taste too sugary which is a good thing. It's more of a natural sweetness which makes it pleasing to the palette while sitting and unwinding out in the sunshine. read more

Had an enjoyable time at Bay City Brewery's Gaslamp location. There's a couple spots on the outside, some bar spots inside, and a lot on the roof. The inside is maybe slightly dark. The lower level is potentially minimal in appearance. The rooftop is much more inviting but doesn't have great views due to walls / buildings surrounding. The manager and workers were fun and had easy service. BAY CITY IPA - very good, tradition JUCCI GANG - hazy cuts the double COCO ONO - really fun, fruity. Don't know if I could drink a full pour myself. I felt like I was at a G7 summit, but everyone was smiling and drinking IPAs instead of printing fake inflation numbers. The beer list? Unbelievable. So many choices. I tried the San Diego Pale Ale -- huge flavor, not weak like sleepy seltzers. Strong. Patriotic. Then the Power Play IPA -- very powerful name, very powerful taste. That's the kind of branding we like. I took one sip and immediately negotiated a better trade deal with myself. People there? Young. Hip. Probably a few voted for me in spirit, if not on paper. Very classy place, very American. Lots of dogs outside -- even the dogs looked happy, very smart breeds. Snacks? Top-tier. Pretzels the size of Melania's Birkin bag. I dipped one in cheese so good, I thought about calling it "Trump Gold Cheddar." Prices? Fair. Unlike Congress. You get what you pay for -- and what you're paying for is freedom in a glass, people. Cold, fizzy, glorious freedom. In conclusion: Bay City Brewing is a total winner. Fantastic beer, tremendous energy, and absolutely no Bud Light confusion. My gf wanted us to check this spot out for the view and the pizza. We grabbed some beers and got a seat at high top. The view is amazing, however all the heaters weren't on so it was a bit. We ordered a pizza and moved inside. This pizza was amazing. We enjoyed every single bite. The toppings were flavorful and so was the sauce. The crust was really good as well, but it got a bit filling. I will be back to see what other awesome pizzas they have. read more

This was literally the most rude bartender I've ever experienced. I've worked in hospitality for 17 years, and was completely respectful, I promise. Work party- later than expected to turn up- party unaware. Bartender comment to me, as an unaware party goer- "yeah you guys were an hour late, and half of you are blacked out anyways." Party was polite, unaware of timeframe. I left. I don't want to spend my money anywhere I am not welcome- if miscommunication with management, that's between the planner and your staff. I live close by and my sister been wanting to try it out. After a long day, we decided to finally try it. It's a very cute and it has two floors. The top floor you can have a view of the city. There was a party going on so a part of it was reserved, but from what we saw it All looked cute and pretty. We sat at the bar and the server was very attentive and helped me choose the beer. Me and my friends came down to San Diego for a business event, and we wanted a place for some good eats before hand, and we really lucked out giving this place a try. Their pizza is so delicious and well seasoned, with the perfect amount of crust in the dough. It was so good that after our business meeting was over, we came back for seconds. We went to Bay City Brewing for a beer before going to a concert at Petco Park. The downstairs is open with a little patio and an indoor area with a pool table. There's a amazing rooftop patio that was awesome!! This location kept getting bigger and bigger as I walked around, it was so cool. The upstairs area is huge with a bar! I was super excited to try this place only a few blocks from home especially because it touts a pretty large rooftop bar area which I think is strangely lacking in downtown San Diego. Unfortunately, the rooftop was closed due to a private party AND we showed up shortly before closing, however the downstairs bartender totally made up for it. She was very friendly and talked about their options: Beer, of course, but they also had a cider, and a couple of seltzer on tap. In addition, they have wine! The fact that a brewery has all of these options is wonderful!! The downstairs has the bar as well as a couple table with accordion doors onto a small front patio. So you get a little indoor/outdoor option there. They also have a billiard table and TVs. I was able to enjoy my cider while watching the end of the olympics. Win-win. I can't wait to come back, check out the rooftop and try their pizza. Definitely check the hours before you come. They close at 5pm on Sundays and are closed Tuesday sad of now. read more
