When we walked in, we were welcomed right away which I like. I ordered their regular sized bowl, which comes with 3 proteins. Got their lemongrass ponzu sauce which was pretty flavorful. They also have SO many toppings to choose from, even hot cheetos! I would say the bowl overall was pretty good. My only small complaint was I wished there was more sauce given because the rice barely absorbed any sauce. **I don't eat spicy, but they have these spicy drops which you can add into your sauce. Absolutely my go to in Fremont for Poke. So glad they're so close to my neighborhood. I can come at least once a week! My favorite is brown rice with tuna, salmon and hamachi. Sauce is always half and half ponzu (or lemongrass ponzu) and spicy mayo with unagi topper. Keep the mix ins simple with cucumber, carrot, onion, green onion, edamame and crab then top it with furikake and togarashi for a little extra spice. Love it! read more

I've used Yelp for a long time and while it is not always 100% accurate, the ratings usually give a general idea of how good or bad a place is. Unfortunately, my experience of the food here was wildly off from expectations given the positive reviews. I ordered two "customize your bowl" pokes with varying combinations of salmon, tuna, and yellow tail. Portion size for the 3-scoops bowl was mediocre, while the 4-scoops bowl was surprisingly much larger (and used a physically larger container), even though there was only a $2 difference in price between the two. I would say that strictly in terms of portion size, 4-scoops is a good price for the amount you get. However, the fish...ranged from mediocre to bad. I would give the salmon barely a passing grade, helped by the fact that salmon is usually the easiest to get right. It was not fresh by any means but I did find it satisfactory. The tuna was similar, but I could taste it starting to go bad. The yellowtail was mostly inedible. I had to throw out most of the pieces after biting into it because it tasted spoiled. The sushi rice that we ordered was also slightly undercooked, which did not make for a good overall experience given the condition of the fish. I do hope that I just got unlucky with the lack of freshness with the fish and undercooked rice, given other peoples' rave reviews especially with fish freshness, but if QC and consistency can be this variable, I will not be returning here again. read more

First time in here today at lunchtime with my wife. We found that the vegetarian option was pretty legit, which can be a gamble with most poke places. Their tofu seemed to be marinated and grilled, giving it actual flavor and an interesting meaty texture. That extra touch was nice, as opposed to how most places just cut up raw tofu and call it a day. My only real gripe was the music. While we ate, at least 2 songs played with really sexually explicit lyrics (as in, blatant mentions of specific acts with words that would absolutely be bleeped on the radio/tv). One mentioned the "N" word. We are no prudes by any means, but we felt really uncomfortable being in that environment while we were just trying to sit and eat our lunch...at noon on a Saturday, with kids in the restaurant, no less. I have no problem with people listening to that music privately, but having it blaring here kind of ruined the experience. read more

I LOVE POKE! I've been coming here very often since it's closest poke place to me and I am obsessed with raw fish, thus, I really like it! The fish comes in huge chunks which is an A+ and the rice is served hot. yum! One of the things that make it different from other poke places is the option of marinated tuna. I absolutely loooove the marinated tuna!!! I only know one other place that offers it yet, it comes pricey so knowing this place also offers it makes me really happy since it's more affordable~ There is also hot cheetos as a topping option haha The only con I would say would be the texture of the salmon...I don't know if it's just me but it tastes a little too soft? Not sure if it is because the protein is kept at room-ish temperature or what. I have not stumbled onto any problem with this though other than my texture preference. The food tasted good but the portion sizes, even for the large bowl, were tiny. Compared to other poke places, this large bowl seemed like half of a regular bowl at best. I think it would be best to go to another place for poke if you want more food. read more

Thought I was going to be the first review as I've been patiently waiting for their grand reveal getting my usual Gongcha fixes in the plaza, but I guess my tongue wasn't the only one woo-ed. That doesn't come as a surprise! What really sets this joint apart is their garlic chips and SPICE DROPS! I only know one other restaurant in the bay that offers this capsician enchancer for customers and it is a favorite. I hope the owners overheard my screams of sheer, utter joy when I discovered this in the step process of creating my own bowl. Please keep it coming!! Because if it is there, I am there.. lol. I know they offer spam musubi which is a snack I'm always down for. What they also bring to the table is cooked sake-don, which will also be very kid-friendly and an option just as yummy in equivalent for those who don't like or are unable to digest raw fish! The staff is friendly, the fish is fresh, the interior is polished, and that makes me one happy customer! I'm usually visiting relatives around the area so I can't wait to bring them. By far one of the best poke places I have ever been to. Fish was fresh and delicious. Sushi rice was great. There were an abundance of toppings. Large poke bowl was about $12 and it did not disappoint. Ordered sushi rice, Tuna and yellow tail (4 scoops, really fresh fish). Yummy crab salad. Tons of sauces to add to your bowl. My favorite sauce was probably the wasabi mayo. I love the garlic chips and hot cheeto toppings. Simple but amazing! Definitely recommend this place if you are in Newark. The single scoop of protein is extremely tiny. Although you get three, it simply isn't enough nor is it comparable to other poke locations out there that give more for your money, same quality if not better. Simply put, there wasn't anything definitive or memorable of the taste nor experience. Sad but true. Workers were nice, no complaints here. I would say this is probably my new go to poke place from now on. They have a really good assortment of toppings and sauces. I secretly give bonus points to any place that has mangoes They also have crushed hot Cheetos, fried garlic and all sorts of crunchy additions to your poke. I had the Bayside Bowl as well as Poké Nachos. Poké Bowl My base was rice. Fish wasn't slimy at all. I've had bad poke bowls before and this was way above average. They gave a good amount of fish and toppings. When I get their bowl again, the first thing I'd change is adding ungai sauce or the furikake on top of the rice before anything else is added. The Nachos First sign that I was going to like it was that they used wonton chips instead of packaged tortilla chips, but some chips were too thin to handle anything on top of it. That didn't put me off. They really pack the toppings on top of the chips. If I could put the toppings and sauces in a separate bowl, I'll do that next time. I'd pay extra for that too. WHAT?! NEWARK IS MOVING ON UP!!!! And this poke place is SO GOOD!!!! I'm so glad we kicking off the poke trend with a true gem. I went during the soft opening twice! Everyone was getting in the swing of things but that did not take away from the service. The poke is one of my favorites (and I've had a bunch) and the thing that sets it above all other is the in-house GARLIC CHIPS. I asked where they got them and they told me that they made them because the store bought ones weren't up to par. DANG! I wanted to get those bad boys to put on all of my foods. I promptly went online to find the methods of making said chips. Fish was fresh and the sauces were complementary to the proteins. There's hella poke places opening up everywhere, but this place is in my top 3 that I've tried. I got a small bowl with half mixed greens and half rice. The fish tasted really fresh. Sauce flavors were well-balanced. Their ponzu sauce was bomb. For the spicy lovers, they have hot cheetos crumbs and hot drops that you can add to the bowl. It's not made to order like other poke spots I've been to. It's kept warm under a heat lamp and although I was skeptical, I wanted to give it a try and see how it tastes.
