Been here 3 times in the last month. Best poke I've had since Da Poke Shack in Kona. Super fresh fish, nice portions. Bayside Bowl is fire, but building your own is pretty cool too! I love sushi and fish and general, and poke is one of those go to places to get your quick fish fix. I haven't found a spot I would considered my go-to until Bayside open up. Their fish and quality of ingredients is spot on. The place is super clean, the staff is engaging and energetic, and is willing to go out of the way to help you instead of the stink eye you get at other places. I love how they also give generous portions, I'm a big eater, and at most places a large bowl barely fills me up, but not here. I was craving for poke and this place was the closest to me. As soon as I walked in, there were 2 customers in front of me. I stood in front of the wall menu for a few minutes before deciding to walk up to the counter. I decided to customize my own poke bowl (regular size) instead of choosing one of their signature bowls. Besides the 3 tiny scoops of protein, I asked for a ton of free toppings on top of my bowl. The employee decided to scatter the toppings in the middle and eventually, the bowl of food resembled a mountain. This is when they started to reduce the quantity I get for each topping so the food wouldn't slide out of the bowl. For checking in Yelp, I was supposed to get free avocado topping. Well, they ran out of avocados and gave me a discount instead. If you're going to promote your place with free items, you should stock up on it! FoodMaxx is just 1-2 blocks away! Oh, they loaded my protein with a ton of sauces and it wasn't appealing at all. If your fish is fresh, you don't need that much sauce to coat it. I read the reviews and I had to try. I'm so excited to have a local poké spot in town. The reviews are worthy of their stars. The restaurant is located in a strip mall with ample parking. I was greeted with smiles when I walked in. I chose a large bowl with tuna and salmon mixed with wasabi mayo. I went with three hot drops. I could have taken four but it's no joke. It's hot! I piled on my toppings: crab salad, avocado, edamame, and wasabi. Then topped it off with garlic and onion. It was so good. My only minor disappointment is that the fish wasn't colder. It absolutely wasn't warm. It just wasn't super cold. The spam masubi was nothing short of perfection. The prices are right as are the portions. Two thumbs up for sure. read more

Fish portions are small. Other reviews say the fish pieces are huge, and I agree - they are indeed huge, but BECAUSE it's huge, one scoop can only get 3-4 pieces. In the end, you don't get as much portion as some of the other poke places like poke house near mission blvd or poke poki fremont. I had been coming in to this place for more than a year now. Sometimes 3-4 times per week. Over the time I see that they had start putting less and less fish inside the bowl. It says on the menu that you get 3 scoops of fish for the regular bowl. When they release fish from the scoop into the bowl half of the fish remains or "gets stuck" inside the scoop. When asked about that ... I had received a grin and "I am sorry" but no intention of correcting the bowl.. they had also started putting in smaller portion of salad, and toppings. In the mean time the price for the bowl was increased. I am hoping that the owner reads this review and makes a corrective actions towards behavior of his / her employees,,, I will be giving it a one more chance to see if the things had returned to normal... after that it's a switch to another place... read more

Skip the nori wrap, have some sushi in a bowl. This is by far the best local place to have some Poke if you are in Newark. If you are not into raw fish, you can have them sear it or they also offer a vegetarian bowl which is very refreshing. It's hella good. And they have legit Hawaiian sodas that are super good. Really nice people behind the counter and I met the owner and he is really cool. So I've been addicted to Poke lately. I've visited a few spots in Fremont, and bayside. Bayside is on a whole different level. Easily the best fish out of all places.
