My family has spent more than 45 summers at The Bayside. We remember the days when nobody thought twice about keeping Horsey Sauce on the table all day long. To some, it's just a sandwich, but to me, the original HTMJ was everything. To say I have been devastated by its replacement the last couple of summers is an understatement. It does not work and does not even make sense. NOT the Bayside I grew up loving. I remember a few years ago grabbing beer after beer and a cup of chilli after chilli and making a day out of it. Recently came on a Monday and ordered a cup of chilli. We received our drinks quick enough, but after 10 minutes of not receiving rhe chilli we ordered, we asked our server what was up, she said she was waiting on the kitchen... 20 minutes later, waiting on the kitchen... 40 minutes later, waiting on the kitchen... 60 minutes later, still waiting on the kitchen. We've been going to Bayside for 25 years. Mostly good times, always good service and always slightly above average food. We do love the pizza and beer selections in particular. The prices are always a little stiff but we're willing to pay them because the vibe makes it worth it. However, today we ordered a side of fried green beans. To be fair, we didn't ask for the price assuming they'd be equivalent to other deep fried sides. NO! They were $10.95!!! for a basket of over-fried pellets. Yes, we should've asked. No we didn't. But we felt taken for a ride. Duped. It was a shameless price point. As an added disappointment we split a sandwich advertised as a turkey club with pesto. No sign of pesto - for over 12 bucks. It'll be a long time before we forget this. The moral of the story? Ask a lot of questions and ascertain what you're willing to pay BEFORE you order. read more

We stopped in for a late lunch around 2:30 pm. We found a place to sit and waited. It took some time to be greeted. We had to flag someone down each time we needed something like a drink or to order. Before our food arrived, most tables were now open. We had the burger, which was underwhelming in size and flavor. The french fries and onion rings were bland. Went here on a Saturday night to grab food after Wild Tomato said that they couldn't accept any more orders. We had a pretty large group so we had to split up, but lucky for us the tables were close together. I also just want to say the place was pretty busy and they seemed kind of short staffed like everyone right now. That being said, there were many issues. The waiter was reasonably quick to come get our drink order and we put in an app order right away too. The drinks came out with reasonable speed, but waters were forgotten and an old fashioned was asked for 3 times and never received. For apps we got the cheesecurds and mozzarella sticks. The mozzarella sticks were the winner of the night! The cheese pull went on forever! The cheesecurds were pretty standard. No cheese pull there though. As for main food orders, people got burgers, a fish sandwich, grilled cheese, pizza, a side salad, and an attempted order of chili which was forgotten and then we were told they didn't have any more. This wouldnt have been an issue but by that point, everyone else who got there food was finished eating. One of the burgers also came out 15 minutes after everyone else's food and bacon was forgotten on the bacon cheeseburger. The person who ordered the pizza asked for no onions or olives and it came with lots of both. The side salad also looked like there was a small can of olives dumped on it. Overall, I get that the place was busy, but many things were messed up unrelated to that. The waiter was nice and apologized and gave us a discount, but it all just seemed a little overwhelming for him and us. read more

For what this place is it's OK. It's a bar that serves bar food and you can't set your expectations too high however we were slightly disappointed over the fact that when I asked for a cheeseburger my son got a burger with no cheese and when I told the waitress she brought a cold piece of cheese out to put on the burger nonetheless I gave my son my cheeseburger patty that had melted cheese on it. In addition we were waiting for about 30 minutes for the check Only to be told that our waitress injured her self but there was no one that covered our table. Will be back on nights when there's not other restaurants with seating available or if we want to drink alcohol but this is not A high-end restaurant by any means read more

Bayside is right in Fish Creek and has been around for over 100 years! I loved this place because it had a great bar and it was busy on Sunday in the middle of the afternoon - that is always a good sign in my book. I had a bowl of the famous chili (cincy style) and it was so excellent. I would definitely go back for just the beer and chili. read more

Had the hankering for fried fish, but it was Sunday night (not Friday)...looking around our Fish Creek base for our Columbus Day weekend trip, we didn't have to look any further than the Bayside Tavern. Great lightly breaded and fresh fish (pollack - two large thin/med fillets) and chips as well as a bowl size portion of Cinncinati-style chili with the works was what we ordered along with a garden salad (crunchy broccoli salad was out). Tavern was crowded but no problem finding a booth in the back (guests are invited to seat themselves). Food was out quickly our server checked on us often even though we were in the back where there were only four booths. read more

Is this the only bar on the Door peninsula? Seems like it, the place always has a good crowd. All I can speak to is drinks and service at the bar, both top notch. The Bloody Mary is fantastic. I've attended Winter Fest in Fish Creek each of the past three years. The event takes place behind Bay Side Tavern on the frozen lake, so the bar becomes a very convenient spot to meet up for drinks and apps after the event. I think the drinks are good and the food is ok. We've had appetizer samplers and pizzas made with hand-tossed crusts. The sausage they used on the cheese and sausage pizza we had this year isn't that great (reminded me of Tony's frozen pizza, the one in the yellow box), but we really enjoyed a garlic and onion pizza last year. I think if you dine during anytime other than Winter Fest, you might get better food because they can take the time to give it proper care. Some of my friends like their Bloody Mary's and I've enjoyed their Whiskey Old Fashioneds. The staff is friendly and accommodating, and while things get hectic during Winter Fest, they step up and do a nice job. I'm told a new "gin bar" opened a 1/2 block down, but we didn't get a chance to try it out. For what it is, Bayside Tavern, fills the need in a pinch. read more

Young waitress was friendly, being the middle of October the place was very busy for a Monday night. For late vacationers just looking for a burger there's not a lot of places open. They only have 1/3 lb burgers, so I had a normal burger with tomato and onions only with chips. Chips come with the burger. I also got a half head of shredded lettuce which I scraped off because I didn't want lettuce. The bun was so thick I could barely get my mouth around it. No silverware to cut it in half burger very well done and dry. I was not a fan. Husband had a cheeseburger chose fries for an extra $3.00, looked like maybe a half order. I guess the price is comparable to other places on the Peninsula, but I hope for those prices other restaurants are better read more
