For the boil we were recommend to go with the cajun garlic butter sauce and I'm glad we did. So flavorful yet not too heavy. It was a pound each for shrimp and clams, which were $27 a pound, and we were feeling very full by the end of dinner. Definitely a small spot, with less than 10 tables, but if you're in the area I definitely recommend!

The flight was interesting, some more favorable to our palette than others. One flight was enough for me and my fiancé. Our only downside was our first three dishes came out quickly but the pork and the fried chicken took over an hour, with later tables receiving their same dishes first. By the end, they also tried to take the plates before the rest of the food came out but we couldn't cancel the dishes because they were said to be already in progress. The timing wasn't ideal which was unfortunate because the food and experience was great at the start. Overall the food is good and the service may have just been unlucky.

Though I do see some comments, and I agree, that the Gumbo is not thick enough, I don't really care for a heavy/dense gumbo. This bowl has sufficient structure absent the heavy dense roux, and it was exactly to my liking. Very soft and fresh - not too sweet. The chocolate-y flavor wasn't really coming through to me. And the vanilla and churro flavors were very similar. The most prominent was the blue corn - and I think this was my fave. Comparatively speaking to other conchas at a panderia, $5 a concha is a bit steep. They are really tasty tho and definitely worth it. Think of it as a top shelf concha. Oh and the good news is, they're vegetarian friendly - they only use butter. I'll be back next time I'm in the San Fran area.

Witty ideas, some interesting combinations and the baby back ribs had lovely smokiness and bite. Most of the dishes were good, but some of them didn't quite come together or needed just a tad more of something special. But overall quite solid. Drinks: 4.5 stars. Loved how they had both alcoholic cocktails and non alcoholic cocktails. Both were excellent! And the cocktail pairings ($39 for alcoholic and $29 for zero proof pairing) were quite good value for money. Charging 15% service fee when we prepaid and then saying that tip wasn't included in our final bill: 2 stars. Sorry this is a big pet peeve of mine; wish they did what all other restaurants where you prepay on Tock do, which is charge a 18-20% service fee upfront and then don't need to ask for anything else if we don't add more. Honestly if we added another 18% tip that would be 33% total seems like a lot to be expected. Overall we had a fun night but the tip situation left a bad taste in our mouth. That said, big kudos to the guys for sharing their food and stories.
