The worst experience ever. I made a reservation and went to the restaurant on time. There was no one at the front desk. After waiting for about five minutes, someone from the kitchen showed up and seated me. I was handed a menu card, but no napkin or silverware. I waited for at least 20 minutes and none of the waiters showed up. The restaurant was not understaffed and was not busy either. At this point, the greater show showed up again and decided to take my order. All I asked for was water and crème brûlée. The water arrived in a dirty looking glass, and a straw was not even offered. A few more people walked in, and everyone was served pretty immediately. One of the waitresses was parading around with her extra long hair let loose. She was handling food in the kitchen and serving food at tables. Food service basics require hair to be tied at all times. By now 25 more minutes had gone by and my desert had not arrived. I decided to leave. I don't think that any restaurant could treat anyone worse than this. No basic courtesy, no customer service etiquette. I do not know if it was brazen racism, or sheer ignorance - neither of which should be allowed. read more

I'll start off by saying the best day to go is Wednesday! Why? Because it's Wine Down Wednesday and bottles of wine are 50%. Overall, the service is good here. Everyone is typically very perky and upbeat. The only "bad" thing I've experienced is having to repeatedly ask for the check and a box (5+ times) even though my friend and I were the only ones in the restaurant since it was around 7pm, which is when they close. I'm not sure if there was just a lot going on or she wanted to clean up so she could go home, but had she brought a box and a check the first time, we would have been out of the restaurant 30 minutes before we actually were. Artichoke and spinach dip - I am usually such a huge fan of spinach artichoke dips so I'm sad I didn't love this one. It felt like I was eating cream cheese with some slivers of spinach and artichoke for decoration. I wouldn't order this again. Chicken lemon pesto gnocchi - unfortunately also not a favorite of mine. The gnocchi were a little overcooked and the pasta itself was pretty bland. Rustic cheddar chive biscuit - Get it. It was delicious and I will be ordering every time. Very flavorful, not too cheesy, baked to perfection. 10/10. Penne bolognese & meatballs - I'd order this again for sure. I enjoyed this pasta much more than when I tried the gnocchi. We stopped in for a quick bite at 1:30pm on Black Friday. We were told it would be a 30 min wait which we accepted as we thought we would have to wait anywhere we went. The restaurant was about half empty. What was disappointing was the wait time of 40 mins after the order was placed for a burger and soup. They did not appear to be understaffed . I'm guessing this was a managerial level issue as the kitchen and wait staff appeared to be doing the best they could. Our waitress removed the drinks cost the bill acknowledging the delay. Perhaps the team can work on a strategy for "heavier" business days. read more

Last Sunday afternoon there was barely anyone there. Strike 1: Rude hostess, wanted us to sit at a table that was dirty. I asked her they should wipe it first and she responded it was clean but wet, it was obviously dirty with sticky areas and I asked her again, she repeated the same thing, looking straight at my face, like I was in the wrong. Strike 2: The waiter came and she proceeded try to take the order with the cleaning product and wipe next to her and my dad repeats this time. it needs cleaning, she proceeds to spray the area pointing at me with the cleaning product, to the point I got some on my hand and arm. I try to enjoy the rest of the time there since I'm with my parents, didn't want to make a big deal of it. Strike 3: The waiter rushes us to close our bill, even though we have had apetizers and entrees and spend a good amount of $ there (over $100). She brings the check and rushes us to close and pay because "she is going to her next job?!" (It was a Sunday, late afternoon and a holiday weekend) I love the food there and ambiance, it's the 4th time I've been in the past year. Customer service is terrible! I won't be going back, is very sad, Management needs to invest in training the waiters or pay then better and get more quality staff. read more

Wanted to like it but unfortunately did not. First and last time. There were flies in the restaurant, one landed on some of chicken, wouldn't fly off, and I had to take it off and kill it with a napkin... it's an upstairs indoor restaurant why are there flies that I'm having to swat? The booths were huge and interior was pretty, unfortunately you can tell they are not cleaning the entirety of the booth, maybe because they are so big. The ends closest to the wall had crumbs/ was not clean. But we only had a few people so we just did not scoot that far in. They did spill both my drink and my food when delivering to the table. Everything took a long time despite not having many people in the restaurant. Tomato soup was pretty good, maybe needed a bit of cream in it to cut the acid. The chicken on the salad was soooooo dry and overcooked. Very hard to cut without a steak knife. The salad dressing was very nice. Maybe I would come back to sit at the bar but for almost 100 bucks for 2 peoples lunch I was very underwhelmed. I'll just shop and go to one of the other restaurants in the area. read more

It was news to me to find out that there is a restaurant inside of some Nordstrom stores. Since this one came highly recommended we gave it a try. There is no separate entrance so you have to navigate through the store and to the second floor to find the restaurant. It's tucked away behind intimates but very cute. Arrived around 5:30 on a weekday (they close at 7:00) and it was somewhat empty which caught me by surprise. We were seated right away and placed our food and drink orders. I had the smoke n heat which is a mezcal based drink. I could taste the mezcal but that's about it. It had a sweet and sour taste that I wasn't crazy about. I didn't quite finish it. I had the king pao brussels sprouts and I thought they were tasty. They had pieces of chicken in them which was an interesting spin but good. I was torn between a few entrees but ultimately ordered the spicy wild shrimp pomodoro. I was expecting a creamy red sauce, but this sauce was thick and the dish was served with spaghetti noodles. That was my first disappointment with it. When I was down to my last 1-1/2 shrimp I noticed a grey tint on the flesh of the shrimp. I'm still not sure if they were undercooked or if that color was the result of the way they were prepared. Whatever the case, I couldn't get past it and erred on the side of caution in case they actually were undercooked. Our server was really kind and understanding about my concerns and addressed the issue. For dessert I ordered crème brûlée. Flavor was great, although the custard was sadly lukewarm. We also received a chocolate truffle after the meal. Cute spot and would likely give it another try if I'm back in the area, with different selections. read more

Used to love going to this restaurant for their cilantro lime salad. Went there today, there seemed to be plenty of servers and the kitchen was loaded with help ( they have a window in the restaurant, so you can see the kitchen). We had a reservation and were seated promptly, sat there for 20 minutes and finally politely flagged down the host, to ask if anyone was assigned to our table. He was surprised no one had been to our table. He approached one of the servers, who brought over two cocktail napkins and took our drink order. A few minutes later, a different server walked over and said, "oh, I saw y'all sitting here", we told her we were ready to order. She took our order and the food came out quickly promptly, however the salad was not the same delicious salad that I had ordered there many times before. I now have no reason to go back, since the salad wasn't good and the service was worse. Disappointed, as this was one place that used to be nice, good, reliable and a mid-shopping treat. With so many restaurants in the area, it may be gone soon. read more

I have been to Bazille numerous times and have always loved it. The past few times I have been there the service and food have been off. Way off actually terrible!! The server was very forgetful and had the nastiest fake nails that were handling customers food so long she had trouble handling the plate and the food was not what it should have been according to there menu. I will give them a leave of absence until maybe they retrain and hopefully CLEAN UP there act. read more

This place is a bit pricey for a "casual" meal, but I repeatedly come here. I pretty much like most of the food they serve, I don't think there's any that I didn't like or love. A few items I quite crave often so I always return! Cocktails are really good too! Typical pricing. Best salad they have is the cilantro lime salad with shrimp as the protein! Went really well together! Don't sleep on the crab bisque soup. SO GOOD. Small little bowl for like $10 but worth every bite. The fries are always my go to side! The spinach dip is also really good & unique. None tastes quite like it. Calamari is also good. Their sandwiches get a bit typical but my fave is the turkey one and my husband likes the prime rib. Newer to Jacksonville and decided to try a new place the other night, though we were very disappointed. We started the evening sitting at the bar top tables and I believe the bartender Tyler was our server? I wish the service was something we could say something good about, but sadly it isn't. It took him quite a long time to get over to us, even though it wasn't very busy. Once he did, he took our order and went to put it in. Maybe we were seated too close to the bar, but we heard every word he could say (he was talked ill of another server, made us sad). With all the smack talking, he forgot our order and came back to the table to ask us what we ordered. Asked for the drink menu, but never got to see that. Got our appetizers and the french onions soup was actually amazing. Then we go over to the salad and the lettuce had pieces of pink throughout. Got about halfway through the salad before we finally got some pepper to enhance the flavors. This is the point when we realized everyone else had bread and we were never offered any (for whatever reason). After about 30 minutes or so, our entrees came out. Was very disappointed either gnocchi. The sauce basically slid off the pasta and the meatballs were cold. After waiting so long and being so hungry, we just ate it anyway. The sandwich was average. Pretty sad with the food and the service overall. Only real highlight was the french onion soup. May try again in a couple months to see if anything changes. read more

This place is tucked up on the 2nd floor of Nordstrom. It was not busy at all for a Friday at almost 6p.m. I was immediately seated at a high top table. It was extremely wobbly, so I requested another. The next one was wobbly as well. The service was friendly but the food took quite awhile to come out. This was surprising, as there were at least 6 people working in the kitchen part and only four other tables. The Caesar had too much dressing in spots. The croutons looked homemade and fabulous but they were very tough and hard to chew. The mushroom ravioli was good but very sweet. Wine prices seemed high. Went for lunch yesterday before shopping the early anniversary sale and it did not disappoint! Had the best time! The service was amazing and the food was delicious!! I got the: cucumber chiller drink, the flat iron steak frites and the creme brûlée. My drink was 100% perfect for a summer Saturday. I've been going here since they opened and I love the food and atmosphere. Always get the Crab Bisque, it is delicious! The Baby Gem Caesar is really good too. For a larger salad I get the Cilantro Lime Shrimp Salad. It is cool, crisp and loaded with taste. The pizzas are fun for sharing as are the maple Bacon Deviled eggs. The tiny Cilantro Lime Chicken Tacos aren't much more than a mouthful for a starter but beware they are addictive! You just cannot go wrong here with any of the entrees or appetizers and I've tried just about everything on the menu. There is a great variety without going overboard and becoming confusing. Each dish is prepared with the freshest ingredients and a little twist of this or that for an absolute wow factor. The staff is always pleasant and full knowledge of the offerings. Enjoy! read more

Very nice atmosphere, we try to book on opentable just in case they are busy. The menu has changed from our regular times but there are some tasty new items. The drinks are trying to hard to be cosmo, but there is a nice wine selection. Service is usually very good and right on top of things. This time we tried the calamari and the dipping sauce was great, the Mac and lobster was good but a little pricey. The Margherita pizza was very good. What a hidden gem amongst the restaurants and eateries in then town center! First and foremost, customer services here is superb! The staff seem all very well educated and happy to work there . The manager is often there and is extremely genuine. As for service, like I said this is a group of highly trained servers that are attentive and efficient. I felt welcomed and not rushed at any point ( even though my other guest was taking awhile). What to order? Absolutely anything on this menu! Food here is fresh and delicious . I think it's a ploy because once you've had it, you keep coming back for more but then it's not available and you have to order one of their other delicious albeit overpriced salads ( since obviously you can't fit into Nordstrom's clothes if you eat anything else). What is this magical dish, you want to know? Come close. Closer. Closer. Here it is: The tomato jam jar -- toasted bread points served with a mason jar layered with ricotta cheese, basil pesto, and a perfect tomato jam. You dig down to the bottom with a spoon and scoop the Italian flag onto the toast, and whoa. It's magic. But don't tell anyone!! The word will get out and they'll sell out of it even sooner than usual when it's available. So keep it between us friends, ok? :) read more

I'd been to a prior tapas themed restaurant at another Nordstrom but I had not made it to Bazille. So when colleagues recommended that we meet here for dinner, I was looking forward to trying the menu. I started with their take on bruschetta, which was served with thickly sliced heirloom tomatoes, burrata cheese, bread with a pesto spread, and a balsamic drizzle. It was so good...the garlicky pesto, the sweet balsamic glaze, and the bread which was crunchy on the outside and soft inside. We were off to a great start. After finishing our appetizers, we all got salads. I ordered the berry and fig salad with just strawberries instead of their blueberry, blackberry, and strawberry mix. The salad was fresh and good but I found the portion size to be modest for the price. I think that a balsamic vinaigrette would've worked better to complement the goat cheese and fruit rather than the vanilla bean vinaigrette with which it was served which seemed to be a little too sweet. As we waited for dessert, I noticed that a few more tables begin to fill up. Admittedly, we went for an early dinner and the place was like a ghost town. However, the ambience was quite inviting and seating was mixed, with some tables and chairs and booths. A couple of us split the blackberry and apple cobbler. The portion was large enough to share, the house made pastry was flaky, and the flavor was good but it lacked a little bit of sweetness. It would have been nice if the oatmeal crumble had some brown sugar in it and if it had been baked in with the cobbler. We had a very pleasant dinner at Bazille. Our server was attentive and the food appeared at our table relatively quickly. I would definitely go back to this place again. read more

I still feel like Bazille is a bit of a hidden gem even though it is inside a major department store. But many people do not know what I am talking about when I mention it. They have a breakfast pizza that is amazing. It's the smoked bacon and egg pizza. You can watch it being made through the glass to the kitchen... which tends to make me a bit more anxious for it. They serve it with a spoon to break the egg yolks, putting this at one rich pizza. Other favorites are their french fries with Kalamata olive aioli and their seasonal drink menu. read more

Came here today after a long sabbatical and I'm so glad I did! The manager Mr. Cortez has really done a great job with getting this place more up to standard. Bazille in 2019 was phenomenal, imo the best hot new restaurant in town, but like most places, Covid took its toll and it just wasn't it. The food tonight was the best I've had in awhile, the service was top notch, even the kitchen staff went above and beyond, something you don't really see, and something I've never experienced anywhere else. Although I consider Nordstrom a classy store, I didn't expect to find this gem of a restaurant tucked away on the second floor. A contemporary chic design and layout that also feels casual. This was the perfect hideaway to order a late lunch and people watch from our window seat. Maple Bacon Deviled Eggs - Overall pleasant flavor. If you like deviled eggs, this is a good starter to order. The presentation of this dish is nice as well. Midwest Chicken Sandwich w/ Fries - Proof that simple ingredients combined effectively make for a delicious experience. One of the few times I have finished an entire order of fries by myself.
