I am a big fan of Nordstrom as a brand. They carry high quality items and the service is always terrific. I've been to the Flagship store in New York and dined there, it was amazing. So I was not surprised that the Tampa restaurant, Bazille, was also delightful. Located inside the Nordstrom Department Store in International Plaza, on the second floor, Bazille is a high quality establishment. I arrived, no reservation, in the evening and was quickly seated. My server was Dani. Dani was extremely friendly and a great server. Timing of Dani's visits were perfect, and I never had to ask for a thing, Dani anticipated all of my needs. I ordered the Salmon with Saffron Couscous and tzatziki and a chive biscuit. Both were absolutely scrumptious. Holy smokes who in the world would have guessed that of all places Bazille inside of Nordstrom would have outstanding food and drinks. I had seen this spot quite a few times when taking the escalator down from the 2nd floor to the 1st and vice versa while inside Nordstrom, but I figured it was just another horrible mall restaurant. I went to J. Alexander's the day before and the bartender there told me that Bazille has the best French dip in Tampa. Now, I still think Cooper's Hawk Winery has the best French dip, but this one was no slouch. Up first, the bartender told me their best drink is a $12 Happy Hour High Fashion (Old Fashioned) I gave it a shot and it was solid. It is served with 1 giant ice cube which is the way I like it. For an appetizer I had the Happy Hour $10.50 Heirloom Tomatoes & Burrata. I thought this was excellent like top notch that you would get at an expensive steakhouse. Then, I had the $11.50 French Onion Bowl. Not quite as good as Boulon or Council & Oak, but I liked it a lot. After that, I tried the $12 Kung Pao Brussels Sprouts. Yum, yum, yum! 2nd drink I tried was a $16 Smoke & Heat! OMG, delicious! I would come here to get this drink and the burrata. Seriously, one of my favorite mezcal drinks. And for the entree I had the $20 French dip. Now their French dip has a ton more toppings and is good, but I still like Cooper's Hawk best. I can't believe how unbelievably good this restaurant was. I like this elegant, yet casual dining spot. It's tucked away inside of the upstairs floor of Nordstrom and it delivers fresh, tasty food in a nice atmosphere. Over the 13+ years I have lived in the Tampa Bay area I have been here a few times and the meals, service and dining experience never disappoints. The dining room is cozy yet open and it gives a very high-end feel. On my most recent visit I had the wild salmon niçoise. It was a different take on traditional niçoise salad and it was excellent! It was so delectable and the flavors were all very outstanding. I adored that the salmon featured was wild caught, and it was cooked and seasoned perfectly. For dessert I spilt the brownie sundae which was a generous portion. The brownie was served very warm with some vanilla bean ice cream and house made whipped cream piled atop. It also was served with a chocolate sauce which was very excellent. Also an item of notable mention is the crab macaroni and cheese. It's a Basile standby and had been on the menu as long as I've been going. The restaurant also offers takeout if you so desire. Check out Bazille if you haven't yet! The mushroom ravioli with fried chicken was very delicious. It was rich, savory, and creamy, and I especially loved the mushrooms. The fried chicken portion was a bit much for me, so next time I would probably go with grilled chicken instead. The garlic bread with ricotta cheese was absolutely heavenly. I would go back just for that. On the other hand, I did not care too much for the pesto gnocchi, spinach artichoke dip, or the penne vodka. The penne vodka was my least favorite. We went on a Saturday evening and the place was completely packed. I would definitely recommend making a reservation so you do not end up waiting. Bazille is a vibrant bistro inside Nordstrom's. It's one of my favorite places to go for lunch and has been since they opened. They have a terrific selection of appetizers, soups, salads, sandwiches and entrees. I always go with a salad and sometimes the soup. My favorite is the cilantro lime salad with shrimp or the crab and mango. A must for me is to always splurge on their french fries served with a Kalamata olive aioli . Oh my goodness, this place is soooooo delicious. if you're shopping at the mall, it's a must good too for lunch on early dinner. I have a Jamaican jerk wings. They were fabulous and roasted. The truffle fries are amazing and they make a homemade truffle aïoli sauce to dip in that was out of this world. from the girls on the make up floor , the ladies marisa and gentame andrew caban at the perfume counter . to up here at the restaurant everyone wowed me ! Still a five star experience, because this place is great. I met my husband here for lunch on a random Monday. No reservations are needed, the restaurant is big so we were seated immediately. It was a good amount busy, with enough people there that you know it's a good restaurant, but not too many that we had to wait for a table. I haven't been in a while so the tables out front and kind of jut into Nordstrom is new. We sat at one of those tables and I really enjoyed it because I got to look out into the clothes and people watch. We started with the French Onion Soup, which was delicious. I then got the Crab, Mango and Avocado Salad and my husband got a Caesar salad with steak. My salad was delicious like always, but his is what surprised me. The steak was superb. It was so tender and juicy. I was actually jealous of his salad. Next time, if I'm in the mood for a Caesar I should get that. I also like the large cheese disc it comes with. We were in and out of here within an hour, which I think is to be expected when you're in a place that most people come for a business lunch. This time, we got the chicken frites and the braised beef sandwich. The chicken frites was a bit more plain than anticipated, but it certainly delivered on the frites--there were so many fries!! If you're ordering 2 entrees, I recommend choosing a different side for the other entree as the chicken frites comes with more than enough fries to share. The olive dip is insanely delicious. We were surprised to find a thriving lunch crowd and that it's open from 11-8pm so dinner is an option and so is the beautiful bar. Hidden Gem within Nordstrom Department Store on the 2nd Level. The food is delicious! The pasta was so good with lots of flavor and the Shrimp Burger was refreshing and light. I'm updating my review because it has been a while, and well... it's still wonderful and still deserves 5 stars. The Bazille café/bistro is in Nordstrom on the second floor. It truly is a great place to chill and relax after a morning of shopping. This has always been a mother & daughter date spot for me. It was Mom's first choice when we were shopping at International Plaza, and with good reason. She loved their French onion soup which is full of melted gruyere cheese. Just the way it should be. I thought about getting it today but decided to get the Prime Rib French Dip sandwich. Only this time, I substituted the French fries with the house salad. A good choice because I really did like the Dijon mustard vinaigrette and what looked like heirloom tomatoes. Also, Phyll recommended the Basil Cucumber Crush and it was perfect. It was tart from the fresh lime juice, and almost reminded me of a mojito but with basil and cucumber flavors instead of mint. It was excellent! I chose to keep it non-alcoholic but they will make it a cocktail by adding gin, rum, or whatever distilled spirit you prefer to the drink for an extra charge. The sandwich was good and so was the au jus for dipping. The prime rib was just a tad overcooked for me but it still had great flavor. I think the baguette had some garlic butter, or something that made it tasty. The service and atmosphere puts it on top for me. Phyll was attentive, helpful, and had great recommendations. They served it with a chili aioli. It was good, but I actually preferred to have the fries without the aioli. I'm not sure why we stopped coming here for a while. We used to go quite a bit. This was our BEST visit yet to Bazille and we have been here many, many times. The energy in the room was as great as it typically is at lunch. The flavors of everyone's food were fantastic as they always are. But this visit we were fortunate enough to have Promise as our server. The most genuine smile, the kindest spirit, and the most efficient yet unobtrusive service the four of us have ever received! I am not exaggerating. This young man is an absolute JOY to have in the room much less wait on you. And Promise made the lunch out more special than it already was destined to be with two really good friends. The Cilantro Lime Shrimp Salad is my go-to lunch selection at Bazille and it did not disappoint this day. My husband indulged in Shepard's Pie to his absolute culinary delight! Got the stonewashed for a drink which was really interesting twist on a gin mule adding in the crème de violet. Avocado toast was nice and a good tang on the picketed onions. Real prime time item here was the black garlic truffle aioli that came with the fries that was to die for. I could eat a jar of that just in crackers. My friend enjoyed the Cilantro Lime salad - still a delight with hot grilled wild shrimp. I tried the Green Goddess salad for the first time and loved the grains - farro and quinoa.
