I've watched the ownership, menu, and prices evolve, and today the restaurant has clearly embraced some of the Korean fried chicken influences and element instead of the pure traditional Southern-style broasted chicken I remember from 2009. Even with those changes, the one constant has been quality. The chicken is still fried fresh to order with a crispy crust and juicy meat that's worth the wait, and the thick-cut potato wedges are still a must. Over the years I've paired Chicken Box with everything from a red wine like Chateau Cheval Blanc to beer like Heady Topper, Tree House, the Pliny, etc....The style may have changed, but Chicken Box is still the place I think of whenever I want outstanding fried chicken with an equally outstanding drink.

When we got there at 5 pm, almost all the tables were already full. We were able to get the small table where you sit down on some cushions to eat. They have this unique seating area in the back by the bathroom near the kitchen. Check it out. We ordered the honey soy chicken plate with rice. They fry chicken thighs for that one and gave a decent amount of chicken. The sides were ok. Probably not my preference. We also got the 8 piece seaweed fried chicken and the honey soy chicken. The chicken here are big and moist. Very juicy and very good. The seaweed one is very unique and I really like that one. A lot of umami flavor. However, what made it a 4 star place for me was that the server never really checked up on us at all. Didn't come by to ask how things were or anything. Also, the price is quite high for what it is. $20 for 8 pieces of wings isn't cheap. The two items with tax and tip was over $40 and I think we all still left not quite full. Anyways, it was good trying it out, but might not be something I go to often.
