After coming here throughout the years since they opened I'm appalled and disgusted to see how they have managed to deceive customers by shrinking their portions and size pieces of their meats. Tonight was the worst! I have proof in pics of 3 years ago on their Pepper chicken and today I took out the small pieces (which were also hard and dry) apart in a bowl to see the difference. They fill bowl with lots of veggies and little meat under which you don't notice. How can they keep charging the same prices for the small portions/pieces of meat? My husband said the same thing about their beef. They used to be bigger strips and now tiny little bits. I gave it two stars because flavor is still there but if things are going to be like this I will take my business elsewhere. My new favorite go to spot! I've been to the BBQ+Rice location in Westwood so when I saw there was a location in Venice, I had to try it. This location is located on Venice blvd on a street with other restaurants. While the restaurant location is busy, we were easily able to find parking in the surrounding areas. When you walk in, you immediately see the numerous items you can order from. There are multiple items to choose from and all sound delicious. I ordered the black peppered chicken while my friend ordered the spicy chicken. The dishes are fresh and the restaurant is busy so just be aware that when you do order, you will be waiting 15-20 minutes for your food. The workers there were great and service was pleasant. While there's not many tables, there are two inside and two outside for people to sit down. My only critique is I wish there was more beef and less rice. I ended up ordering extra protein which cost another $6 (the bowl was only $14) so I wasn't crazy about that, but still affordable. I love this spot, some of the best rice bowls out there, and the food is consistently good. Unfortunately, my recent experience upset me a bit. At the Venice Blvd. location they have a service person that has a big curly hairdo which was not covered. I didn't mind at first because he was working the register, but then he went in the back and started to prepare food -- without a hairnet. He prepared quite a few orders while I was waiting and when I sat down outside to eat with my wife after a few minutes it was closing time. He came outside while cleaning tables and just said to us "we're closed" very curtly. I was surprised because he was nice when I ordered so I didn't think he would respond that way. They could do better to train their employees on customer service, but also food handling. read more

My date and I were looking for places to eat in the area that was in walking distance and we stumbled upon this place. The inside is small and there is very limited seating area so be prepared to either sit in your car or stand. Nonetheless it was a fantastic experience. The people were polite and the menu was very simple and easy to read. Prices were very reasonable which is a surprise in this current economy. I got the Spicy Chicken Bowl for $12 dollars and my date got the Spicy Chicken Mayo. They were both fantastic. We waited a good 10 minutes for our food. The person who took our order brought it outside which was lovely. My only critique is on the menu i didn't see a single drink. Maybe if you ask they'll give you options or maybe I missed something. I was in Marina Del Rey longer than anticipated so I decided to find a place to feed me and my child and to wait out the rush-hour traffic back to the Valley. I spent about an hour trying to find a budget friendly restaurant and decided on this one due to the high reviews from Google and wanted to try their Korean fried chicken as well. I ordered the recommended spicy pork bowl and Korean fried chicken. It is a store front restaurant but was able to find a good parking spot in front (around 4:30pm). The outside table were all full with teenagers and the inside tables were filled with teenagers as well. The window tables had 4 stools with 2 older gentleman waiting on to-go orders but they were taken up 2 of each of them so me and child sitting their was not an option. I told the young man that I had a pick up order and he literally slung the bag at me while I was trying to find a few dollars in my purse to leave a tip, then he walked away (so never mind that). I found a nice park 5 minutes away that we could sit and eat our food and she could play after. The presentation of the spicy pork bowl was nice and the Korean fried chicken looked appealing as well. I tried to first feed my toddler some of the bowl and she shoved my hand back as a no thank you but she is familiar with loves Tokyo Fried Chicken so she dug into the chicken. With all that being said, the spicy pork bowl had a newly rotten taste to it, it was slithered with a lot of onions , not enough green onions and the flavor was lacking. There was nothing spicy about the bowl at all. It obviously was marinated but not seasoned and I couldn't get past the hint of spoiled meat taste. The Korean fried chicken was decent but I was so disappointed that I had been duped by the reviews. Hadn't eaten all day as I only had time to feed child and pack her a lunch so I scraped all the garbage off and ate the rice and poured the spicy mayo sauce over it. I did not have the mental or physical energy to drive back and return it as I had been running around with a toddler in which we started the day at 6 am. While it tasted good and could of prob served two people, I will say it was very salty. More so than other bowls (almost typed bowels there) I've gotten from other similar restaurants.
