We really enjoyed this place and will def plan to come back. There is ample patio space which is covered and with intermittent barriers to reduce wind and rain. The menu has all of your Cajun favorites, and the food is really good. My husband and I both got the rue trio so we were able to try a few things. I thought the shrimp and grits, mac and cheese and red beans and rice were all excellent. For drinks I had a martini and we both had some beer. The smallest draft pour you can get is 23oz I think, which is a decent size. Both the beers and martinis were really well priced. For dessert we got the bread pudding which was enormous and perfect for sharing, however, center was still kind of cold. The atmosphere is like Nola on bourbon st but not like new Orleans. Meaning it's more touristy. Service was honest and understood the menu. Food Crawfish was good but not Nola. The seafood was boiled perfect. It was very loud but that's why I said in bourbon st atmosphere. Parking is very bad. You will pay $10 to park . I took a star away for that. Boudin balls were not true to blood sausage like Nola. It was their take. The place is a 4 star but lost a star because of parking. It's touristy. Red fish is way over priced. BB's is one of my favorite Heights area staples. It has been at this location for over a decade and still is good quality. I recently visited again and ordered the roast beef po boy and sausage and chicken gumbo combo and they were good. My only complaint regarding it was it seemed like the bread quality has gone down. For me, a good New Orleans style po boy requires a certain kind of taste and texture for the bread, and this one seemed a little lacking. The meat, veggies, and gravy inside were top notch, but the bread just didn't bring it all together like I expected. I'd still eat here again, and likely order the po boy again as well, but with that singular caveat. I would also recommend getting better hot sauce. The one I was provided did not have the right kick to it. It added a decent amount of flavor but the hot seemed rather muted or almost non existent. Service was perfect. I sat at the bar and the bartender was attentive and prompt. No complaints. Friendly dude overall. I apologize, but I did not catch his name. The nice thing about BB's is the decor. New Orleans is like home to me as I have deep roots. BB's is comfortable to me as it reminds me of New Orleans. It may be a bit, touristy in some regards in terms of being overly Cajun. But I do appreciate the menu items talking about Maw-Maw's bread pudding, as I call my grandmother Maw-Maw. It hits the nostalgia nerves just right. I'll likely go again soon. Customer service here is horrible. Went 2 weeks ago put my name on the waitlist and provided a phone number no one ever called me so we left and even the rest of the day I never got a call. Now today I called just to ask if there was a wait and the lady who answered said yes but she could not tell me the wait time. Ok I understand that. But then when I told her how last time I never received a call for my table being ready and I didn't want to waste my time waiting for a call that was never going to happen, she just hung up. Another BBs review!! The ambiance and vibe at the BBs on White Oak is probably my favorite so far. I love that they have a huge patio and a lot of seating. Since it's crawfish season, it is very crowded but our waiter did a good job at managing his tables and treating us with care. S/o Bobby at White Oak. In terms of the crawfish, I was not incredibly thrilled. We had 5 pounds extra wet but a lot of our crawfish were soft, small and dead. I ordered 5 lbs of crawfish with potatoes, corn, and mushroom to go. I ordered the sides with the citrix garlic which is usually very clean but this looked like it was the Tex-Orleans way but with so much salt that the mushrooms were inedible. The potatoes were raw, not just a little undercooked but crunchy raw. On the other hand the crawfish were so overcooked that half of the order was mush. So mushy that it was pasty/liquified. I have never seen crawfish so badly over cooked. You could not peal them as the paste would ooze out. This was not just a case of one or two being left from a previous boil but at least half the order was that way It was disgusting. It was really shameful especially given the high price of $12.99/lb. read more

I ordered a cup of the étouffée with rice and a small size of collard beans the portion sizes are extremely small. I think they can really work on that for the price. The greens Were not a full cup. The étouffée was spicy as well and it came with two very very smalll slices of a roll. I want to say it was good but it was extremely hot. And the portion size. For the price didn't add up. So to say I would go back NO but I you should try it at least maybe it's your flavor but it's a NO for me. I pass this place often when I leave my daughter's house to go home. I stopped tonight to get something to go. First of all, such nice employees working there! Friendly and helpful. The manager was super nice, and it reflects on his employees. Great atmosphere in there! I ordered chicken and sausage gumbo for me, and shrimp gumbo, and fried shrimp for my husband. Before bagging it up, the server made sure the order was correct. My husband gave me his coleslaw because he doesn't like coleslaw, and it is some of the best I have ever had! My gumbo was so good! Good place. Some of the best gumbo and poboys in Houston. It is amazing how bad the kitchen staff is at reading order notes though. Every time I order a poboy I ask for mayo and cocktail sauce on it. After at least a dozen orders, I haven't been given cocktail sauce on my poboy a single time. Half the time I've been given a poboy that doesn't have any sauce at all. I'm honestly not sure why I keep trying at this point. Please start having your staff read the actual tickets. read more

Finally tried this restaurant "BBs" It was pretty good! Only bad part that was amplified by my grandmother who payed for the meal (lol) was the fact we didn't receive silverware until after we got our food and had to catch our waiter again before she could eat her green beans mannnn like cmonnn. Other than that!!! Lol It was good food , the gumbo was not really that good but it was edible.... 5/10 Great Gulf fried shrimp!! 9/10 The mexican street corn side was delicious. What would've gotten this review/ experience closer to 5 stars would've been to receive our forks at the start. And if the seafood gumbo was a bit tastier. Late to the game for trying any of the BB's chains, but my friend wanted creole food. I suggested BB's since it was nearby. They have a decent parking lot size for this area. There wasn't a wait time around 1:30 pm. We opted for sitting inside cause of this brutal summer heat. I ordered pickle chips and the fried catfish plate. My friend got the 1 lb a la carte seafood boil. One star off cause the service wasn't great, but the food was! Our server seemed moody, but I maintained my composure and said thank you throughout the meal. My friend tried to ask a question about the boil, and his tone was rude in replying. He forgot to give my friend gloves and wipes with the seafood boil, even though he said he would. My food came out later than the boil. I was wondering why fried catfish took so long. Anyway, it didn't come with the coleslaw, hush puppies, or garlic bread like the menu said. I inquired, and he told me it was coming. Not sure why those couldn't fit on the plate in one trip. I didn't specifically state the garlic bread but thought he would have added it with the coleslaw and hush puppies. I still didn't get the garlic bread. Pickle chips: I will always order this from the menu aside from fries. These are the best pickle chips I've had so far. I love Pluckers, but as far as the "chip" version, these aren't oily or over salted. The breading is thin and has flavor. The ranch is homemade. Fried catfish: Again, the catfish and fries were seasoned well. Fries were crispy. Catfish is on the smaller scale, but you get 4 fillets. The tartar sauce and coleslaw is on the creamier, mayo side, which is my preference. The tartar sauce wasn't too pickled. If you don't like mayo, this won't be for you. They also have a cocktail sauce and ketchup on the plate. The hush puppies were ok. I wish I got to try the garlic bread. Although service wasn't the best, we enjoyed the food. My friend said the spice level of the seafood boil and the corn and potatoes were delicious. I'd come back for the pickle chips and catfish. read more

Last night, went to BB'S for the first time. The place is small but it was good, had the empanadas as appetizer they are really good. Then for dinner had 5lbs of Crawfish Tex-Orleans Way ! So delicious I added sausage, mushrooms, and corn. We absolutely loved it. To drink "The Red headed Wompus Cat frozen, mixed very well as all of our drinks. OMG!!! so we had to stop at BBS on white Oaks Drive in the Heights because who comes to Houston and doesn't! Well, we stopped because I wanted seafood and my Google search put this as number 3 on my search list but the number 1 was all about the crawfish and the number two... my cousin said was disgusting!!! So, we discussed the 3 and the 4 and I tell you the Louisiana influence won. On tonight, it was a seat yourself situation...it was "open seating" so we decided to sit outside and enjoy the warmth of the evening. After choosing our seats, we were quickly greeted by Tyler who brought menus and took our drink orders. Tyler was very knowledgeable about the menu. He shared his own personal dining experiences and preferences and then advised on our flavor preferences. One of us likes spicy, one of us despises spicy and I personally prefer savory and unsweetened foods. Following our discussions we ordered the Boudin balls, the Rue Trio and the fish and shrimp combo with collard greens and pineapple rice as sides...and when I say to you the food was absolutely delicious. Trust me...it was good. I can honestly say no one and no place has made collard greens comparable to mine. I have converted many on the consumption of collard greens but BABY BYE!!! BB's got those greens so tender and flavorful, I had to ask for the manager and shake his hand. My significant other and I came here for brunch less than two weeks ago. We arrived around 1130am on a Thursday and we were able to sit anywhere we wanted. It wasn't crowded at all so it was perfect. Grace was our waiter! Loved him! For appetizers we got the boudin link and Tex Cajun fries. Those fries are so good! For my entree I got the seafood boil, YUM! and he got the shrimp and grits. My boil was spicy and full of flavor. His shrimp and grits were just okay. We wouldn't recommend them. The side of catfish and hush puppies was cool. None of it was nearly as good as my boil though. We have heard good things about this new Houston-based business lately and since it is finally crawfish season we decided to give it a try. We were not disappointed! First of all, our server, Dokata, was amazing! He was so full of personality and charm!! The Cajun empanadas were yummy and hot! The crawfish are still a little small but the wet seasoning was just right and the Jumbo Lump salad was fresh and so tasty it didn't need dressing! We sat down and the waitress was very helpful about how hungry we were, portions for everyone and explaining the menu/pricing. We ordered the 5 pounds for $35. There were 4 of us girls so we ate 10 pounds total. Three of us girls split a link of sausage and all of us wanted potatoes. The crawfish dip definitely seals the deal for the whole meal. We thought for the price compared to other places we had eaten crawfish was reasonable and about the same at most places but the size of these were the biggest we had seen. I thought after 11 years ...the last time we ate here and had horrible service perhaps things would be different- nope. After walking in and seating ourselves (which is perfectly okay) - we sat at the table nearly 20 minutes without being acknowledged in an over half empty restaurant. Several servers walked past us and - nada. I finally walked up to the bar and asked for menus and who our server was. Quickly ordered drinks and food - and approximately 25 minutes later a half pound of shrimp arrived. Ordered more drinks....finished the shrimp but second round of drinks never arrived nor did the food. After close to an hour after ordering- and only getting 1/2 pound of shrimp and never the second round of drinks - decided to leave. Manager finally came out - to assist with the bill - and we commented how we didn't get the food we ordered or drinks and how the employees were hanging out at the bar talking.
