1st & last time here. My wife & I came for lunch. Seated right away. She ordered the shrimp boil, I ordered the blackened redfish. Her meal came in about 15 min. Mine did not. She thought it was okay, nothing special. She had time to peel all of her shrimp & eat about 1/2 of her meal (15 minutes) when the waiter came over & said, "your meal will be right out. Another 5 minutes, the waiter now says. "They overcooked your fish, not to our standards, I'm having them make it again," 5 minutes later he brought a complimentary cup of gumbo. 5 minutes after that he brought the fish. So the 1st order of fish took 35 minutes & the replacement took 10 minutes? Took 2 bites, both bites had fish scales in them & the fish did not taste fresh, had that off taste you get with older fish.. Collard greens had no seasoning or flavor, sent it back, requested a simple dish instead, shrimp & oyster po-boy. It came in about ten minutes. Ate 3 different fried oysters, all of them tough. & chewy, could not eat them. Tried the shrimp, not crispy, gummy breading with no flavor. Tartar sauce tasted mostly like mayonnaise. Decided that was enough, told the waiter it was my personal worst seafood experience. He took off my meal, paid the check, crossed this one off my list forever! read more

Let me tellllll y'all , if you don't get anything else, GET THE BREAD PUDDING !!!!!! To die for !! It had like a white chocolate sauce instead of a rum sauce and it's SO good. We've dined there many times and service has never been spectacular. Today it was just sad. It was completely understaffed and while those who were working, it really gave the impression of being overwhelmed and undertrained. Management has really failed on that aspect. This was our go to. We are from New Orleans. Family was in town and wanted crawfish. Ordered crawfish, gumbo, potato salad and hush puppies. Crawfish were good but charged us $12 to get to go. Gumbo was colored water with a few chewy shrimp flushing around. The rice was in a pill cup container (about a teaspoon) the potato salad was in a condiment cup. Found the place on Yelp. What a great choice for lunch. Coral was our server and she was super friendly and attentive! Explained everything on the menu since it was our first time there. Ordered the appetizer empanadas and they were oozing with cheese and filling. Quite tasty. Our party ordered a bowl of chicken and sausage gumbo, grilled shrimp and catfish, half po-boy and soup which was the shrimp po-boy and shrimp gumbo, catfish and etouffee, and crawfish platter with half fried and half crawfish etouffee. Social Distancing and Safety: This is why I docked a star from the rating. There wasn't any distancing. Once it got busy, people were sat at every table, definitely not 6 feet apart from each other. We saw multiple people go to the bathrooms without masks. I even heard one lady say "because my hands were so filthy, I couldn't get my mask on". Highly disappointed and dissatisfied with customer service on phone and food ordered. I ordered over the phone for curbside pickup. After waiting for almost five minutes for someone to respond, some woman rudely tells me to hold on after finally answering. She then comes back on the line after a few more minutes and I told her I wanted to order for pick up. She proceeded to ask me what I wanted and I starred to speak and then she says "I can't hear you" and placed me on hold once again. By this time, I was almost running out of patience the way she place me on hold for a long time and the way her tone of voice were toward me. Couple of minutes later, she comes back on, but this time I had my husband ordered for the items I. Which she started to act "nice" thereafter. She then tells him it will be ready in 25 minutes. My husband picked up and upon arrival to our home, he noticed that our order for the Maw Maw's Monday Madness meal was not even hot! It was bitter cold, the rice looked like it's a day old and cold as well, the garlic bread was hard and dry! The crawfish was luke warm and almost cold to the touch! We had to heat up our foods. Way overpriced for the food we ordered and it's not even a hot meal. I'm a regular customer, and never have had such an awful experience such as today! Awesome roast beef po-boy (midnight masterpiece). My hubby got the fried shrimp and chicken strip platter and was sorry he didn't just get all shrimp. He said it was some of the best friend shrimp he's had as it wasn't too tough like at other places. The only negative was the red beans had way too much rice so it was more like rice with a few tablespoons of their red beans. I mixed as I always do and wound up with a lot of pink rice. Otherwise we'll likely be back and hopefully the rice to red beans ratio will be better next time. read more

If I could leave no stars, I would. The "Louisiana" Crawfish are not even close to how Louisiana does them. The seasoning was terrible. The crawfish were so overdone that they turned black and smelled burnt when they came out...like someone fried them in a frying pan. The service was terrible. OMGEE!!! I had to start writing this the minute I got in the car after eating. (I'm not driving. I promise. I'm the passenger lol) Lunch today was amazing. I may have been a bit rude when he came back because he was just about to set the menus down and I quickly yelled "the table is dirty". He walked away and never returned lol I hope it was just because they were rotating and not because I seemed rude because I'm a super nice person (at least I am in my head) A waitress came and wiped our table and took over. Her name was Mattie and she was cool as heck. She was fast, knowledgeable, and friendly. My best friend had a lb of crawfish and the lunch po boy/gumbo combo. I had the lunch po boy/gumbo combo and my son had a kids meal. All of our food was fresh and delicious. I am not very fond of crawfish. I think it's a waste of time to take 2 minutes to peel a crawfish to get a morsel of meat. However, I tried my bestie's and the flavor was fantastic. My bullet for the king po boy was very flavorful with the bacon wrapped chicken and just the right amount of fixings. The gumbo was also tasty. I think it may have had a bit of okra in it. I don't really like okra, but it was just enough to give it a good flavor. I love BB's bread pudding and asked how often it's made at this particular location. I mentioned how I had once had some that tasted days old and just wanted to make sure it was fresh. Mattie went and talked to the manager and brought me out a warm piece of the most delicious bread pudding I've ever had. I think they had just taken it out of the oven because it was so hot lol but I just dealt with the pain of burning my tongue because it was fire!!! I could have eaten the whole piece by myself, but brought 1/3 home to savor later. We had an amazing experience overall and plan to return soon. When a waitress can be sweet to kiddos in addition to the parents, that's always a plus for me. Mattie was sweet to my son and didn't act like he was a pain when he tried to talk to her. To make a patron wait nearly 45 minutes without adequately checking on their order is terrible customer service. This was my second visit to a BB's Cafe, but my first at this particular one. It seems to have been open about a month or two on Grand Parkway out in Katy. Now that its much closer I may visit more frequently. I took my wife for dinner on a Saturday night and there was no wait to be seated. She had a Hurricane drink and I tried one of their Margaritas. The drink was plenty strong from my view point and I didn't finish it lol. We both ordered the Shrimp and Grits and I also had a bowl of gumbo. The Shrimp and Grits were delicious but I didn't care as much for the gumbo. If you are used to eating gumbo, then you know how hard it is to compare with the homemade variety. It was somewhat spicy? I couldn't put my finger on it but there was an added ingredient that I was not used to having. It wasn't bad but just not as tasty as I would have liked. Great Tex-Cajun food in the Katy area. Disappointing bar area. BBs is located just a bit south Costco, and was previously a Swampy's. My wife and stopped by on a Saturday night around 6pm and were told there was a 30 minute wait. They took our cell number to text us when our table was available. We tried to have some drinks in the bar area while waiting for our dinner table, but we were told not to sit at any of the bar tables, as they were being used for dinner patrons. Huh? We instead shifted some bar stools around to squeeze in around a snarky guy at the bar. Luckily, our dinner table was ready about 15 minutes later. I had a tasty Abita Amber on tap, and wanted to get the bar tab shifted over to our dinner tab. I was told by the bartender they couldn't do that. Our dinner waitress was great and helped us pick a good appetizer, the Tex Cajun Virgin. Strange name, but this is one deliciius app. Fries topped with gravy, roast beef and cheese seems like the greasy food you had back in college at 3am after a night of drinking, but this was not that kind of food. VERY tasty and recommended. We decided to go with the crawfish, and were not disappointed. The crawfish were big and juicy. BBs puts a lot of extra seasoning on top after the crawfish come out. The corn and potatoes were very reasonable...25 cents for a potato and 50 cents for corn. The andouille sausage was big and very tasty. My wife also ordered some hush puppies that came hot, fluffy and delicious. Overall, a great meal at a good price. We will return, but the bar situation knocked this review down a star. read more

We took my family to the Katy location yesterday. I saw this restaurant on Eat Like a Local and thought it would be perfect to take my family to when my son came home for Easter Break. Overall a good experience. Food was what we experienced. . Atmosphere was really welcoming. . Service was just average / maybe below average. When my husband went to wash his hands after our meal he saw a sign with a special they had running - it was almost exactly what we ordered - but - better as it was a little cheaper but had some additional items like a 2nd crab, etc. The server should have advised us of this special especially when we were basically ordering the same thing. Our table didn't have a flyer on it so it was the server's responsibility to let us know about the current specials or how to make our experience better. Because of that - I'm rating only 3 stars - otherwise it would have been 5 stars. I'll have to think about going back. With everything so expensive these days - it would have been nice if she would have been focused on her job a little more. read more

The hostess was great but was a little delay in seating (no big deal though!) our server was helpful and made the burger recommendation! Yesterday we needed a place to satisfy our oyster craving nearby that also could seat a baby, so this evening we came here, on a mission, mouths already watering. We left mostly satisfied expect for the prices. It was busy, no surprise though, it was Saturday eve. I love that they do a text message when it's your turn on the waiting list (or I guess I hate carrying around those pulsating spaceship-like drink coasters that millennials don't know are pagers). The wait was said to be 30 mins, it was only 10, maybe because we were on 'first available' which means outside is an option. Outside it was! It was a cool (freezing for our guests) eve for late march, which was nice, but I didn't see those space heaters that a lot of restaurants with patio seating have these days, but I don't blame them, it's rarely cold enough. Just an FYI if you consider eating outside. Our waiter was excellent and very attentive considering how busy it was, contrary to many reviews here, but that stuff is always hit and miss. Overall it felt like excellent service from door to exit, as everyone was very friendly and helpful the whole time, so for our first visit, very impressive in that department. Most of the food was really good too, the boudin balls were huge, definitely at least the size of golf balls, and so tasty. The outer thin layer of corn meal was crisp while the rice and spices inside were perfectly cooked, with a nice kick of cajun spice, and great with the accompanying dip. Fried pickles: nope. Fail. Not very good, just no flavor to the breading whatsoever, and very thin pickle slices. Maybe if they were slightly thicker slabs of pickle and i could detect a bit of its juice, that would help, and also some spice to the breading? Something was not right about them, and between the five of us, they were hardly touched, so it wasn't just me who didn't like them. Oysters were fresh, no rock fragments, just pure, from the ocean deliciousness. The shrimp too, very tasty and their cocktail sauce left a strong impression. Seemed homemade maybe? Excellent stuff. The kicker was the price. Call me cheap, but 17$ for a dozen oysters is hard to swallow. I know, I'm spoiled by Captain Tom's 7.99 per dozen oysters a few miles away. So unless I'm desperate, I probably will save my oyster cravings for Tom's. The little bit of shrimp was like 15$. Hmm, i don't know, they weren't exactly worth that much were they? Again, Tom's, you half the price. Overall it was good, just not your 'go-to-oyster-craving-day-joint' good. So unless we go for other cravings, say the boudin bals, I can't think of a compelling reason to return other than baby seating on oyster night. read more

I'm sooo disappointed in this $35 order of 4lbs of crawfish. I should have came on here and read reviews since the pandemic. Reviewer Kelli P was right the curbside pickup was the worst crawfish I've ever had. They were not hot, just warmish and worse was they were brownish grey inside. I totally feel played, they either were frozen crawfish or they were spoiled. I'm calling tomorrow to speak to someone cos this is unacceptable. I've been here sooo many times pre Covid that there was no doubt they would fail my crawfish craving. I couldn't eat it but sis did and I know she finna be tummy sick tonight.
