My husband and I were really disappointed with our Cali Cheesesteak sandwiches. We were in the area, so we had to stop by and pick up two Cali Cheesesteaks. I was so excited to eat my sandwich. I was starving and had been craving it all day. Unfortunately, something was off. It didn't taste like how we remembered it. It was lacking flavor and cream cheese. I frequented this place because they were so generous with their cream cheese and their Cali Cheesesteaks were meaty.

My Company recently ordered Lunch for about 100+ people from Beach Hut Deli, and the Sandwiches and Salads were amazing, everyone couldn't get enough.... so the next day, I had to find them & have lunch there again. I had never had Cream Cheese in a sandwich before, but it was delicious. Where have you been my whole life? The staff was super friendly, gave recommendations, and when I ordered the Santa Cruz Pastrami Sandwich, they recommended me getting it hot, which adds melted Provolone cheese. Amazing. This is a great spot to visit, and they also have Beer on tap. There is lots of parking, as it is in a Plaza, and it's on the North East corner of 17th St & Irvine Ave. Go check them out!

This sandwich spot has been all over my Tik Tok and it was exciting getting to try it out. They have indoor and outdoor seating, we decided to sit outside since it was such a nice day out. The sandwiches are made fresh to order and they don't play about loading up your sandwiches. Definitely the best bang for your buck. Like do you see the amount of avocado on the sandwiches??! We loved both of our sandwiches and it was a great lunch, the XL is definitely for bigger appetites or to be shared. It was busy on a Saturday afternoon with in-person and takeout orders, we only had to wait a few minutes for our food to be ready. ig: @cravingswithcat

This was my first time visiting and the sandwiches here exceeded my expectations! Kurt and his team took good care of us and gave their recommendations, which were the Surf Bird with turkey, avocado, bacon, and cream cheese and the Malibu which is their pastrami sandwich. You can tell they use the freshest ingredients and quality meat. Probably one of the best pastrami sandwiches I ever had, and they use the same pastrami as the iconic Langer's Deli in LA, which makes sense! Every bite was just so good, I can't recommend this place enough. Bonus points for the cool patio they have with a pool table + $2 draft beers EVERY FRIDAY! I will definitely make the drive again to come back.

Oh my goodness that was delicious. Lets start with Elana and the Service. 10-10 ,she was very helpful and knew the Menu so well I took her suggestion and it was instant appreciation. I had the Malibu Sandwich and when I tell you it was a hit, it is as instant. The Garlic Bread was a perfect choice to hold everything together. The Pastrami was tender and flavorful. The Avocado gave it a different but delicious texture that has to be experienced for yourself. This might have been my first time here but certainly not my last. I will probably dedicate the next couple of days getting through the complete Menu. Maybe February, because I'll most like get the Malibu the next couple of times. This was a hit.

WOW their sandwiches are great!! Have been looking for a great sandwich shop in Costa Mesa/newport and I think I've finally found it. They cover two of my most important conditions for a good sandwich: flavor and size. The Surfin Bird was not only super fresh and delicious, but GIANT! Definitely worth the money especially with what places like Jersey Mike's/Mendocino Farms are charging nowadays! I think our favorite was the Malibu which was a super simply pastrami sandwich with avocado, but they have to put something in there that just takes the flavor to the next level. Aside from the food, the employees and owner are incredibly kind and the entire atmosphere is so lovely. It truly feels like you've stepped off of the beach at San Onofre into a little hut for some good. Best part, they have wine & beer options too!! Definitely want to try their $2 Beer Fridays and their new trivia night on Tuesdays! I think they have a deal for thursday beers as well but will have to see. HIGHLY recommend to anyone passing through or local to the area!

Great tasting sandwiches. I ordered the Skinny Dipper and Malibu and they both hit the spot. Kind of on the pricier side with smaller portions when compared to Board n Brew who I think is its main competitor, but it still doesn't take away from how good it is. Great beach vibes with reggae playing in the background, a bar where you can order beer, and plenty of TVs with sports on.

We love grabbing sandwiches from Beach Hut Deli in the Newport Beach! The Surfin' Bird is always our go-to and the beach bites are sooo good!! Everything is super fresh, portions are huge, and the staff is honestly so sweet and amazing every time we come in. Such a fun, easy spot to keep coming back to! Truly one of the best Reuben sandwiches I've ever had. The quality is top notch. Awesome atmosphere with lots of TVs and a really spacious outdoor area with a pool table. They're also dog friendly! I wish I lived closer.

I'm a beach hut fan, specifically this location. I always get the California sandwich and am always satisfied. My only complaint is I ordered sprouts in my sandwich but didn't receive any at all which was a bummer. But I love how much avocado they put in this sandwich. The peperoncinis are delicious too along with the spicy ranch.

I got the Chef's salad here and it was good. The only thing I didn't like about it was the sliced up cheese. I think a shredded cheese would taste much better on a salad. Overall the flavor and quality were good. I got it to go but the inside environment seemed lively at the bar.

Pretty bomb 5 Star sandwiches. Cannot go wrong with this place. I got the Pastrami Sandwich and it was amazing: Filling, great taste, fresh ingredients and worth every penny. Definitely not a light lunch. It is a huge calorie rich sandwich. This is the kind of sandwich you want to eat right after a heavy leg day workout which is what I did. I also got the Spinach Chicken Salad with bacon. Also amazing. It was a hot cold salad which I love. This is also a filling salad. They were very generous with the chicken which I appreciate. Many places skimp out on the protein. A little added bonus: Each table has its own TV to watch. Not sure if you can change the channel but it's still cool. I ended up watching Dr Phil while eating lol. Highly recommend this great tasting sandwich shop! read more

I had the absolute best experience with Carson and Ashley! They were so extremely attentive, sweet, and friendly. This was my first time at the hut and I will definitely be coming back, the food was AMAZINGGGGG and the beers on tap were to die for. It's a wrap folks. Beach Hut Deli makes the best sandwiches in Orange County. I ordered the Hobie (their Italian sandwich) and it was perfect in every way possible. First off, the bread was magnificent - soft, chewy, held the sandwich together. It was filled with every the perfect ratio of meat, cheese, and veggies. Definitely going to try the other sandwiches on the menu. Interestingly enough... I'm guessing the sandwich is named after the Baywatch character, Hobie Buchanan, Mitch's son. Like how does that make sense. He's not Italian or anything. And he's an annoying character. why name an Italian sandwich after Hobie?! Please correct me if I'm wrong. Anyway, amazing sandwiches and a fun beach theme. Parking is a little tough but worth the sandwich. read more

One of the many fine businesses inside this quaint strip mall. I've always wanted to try this place solely because of the name, and I was not let down. Once inside, it instantly reminded me of Islands restaurant, but a deli version. I'm a sucker for the tropical/beach/surfer vibe decor. The booth tables are in the shape of surfboards, and overall just has a very cool vibe. Tons of sandwich varieties it was so difficult to choose. I also really appreciated their wide variety of chips ! I settled for the Surfin Bird, a cold sandwich with turkey, bacon, lettuce, tomato, red onion, avocado, peperoncini, and mayo+mustard on their french roll. It comes with cream cheese, but I ordered without. Its such a classic sandwich combo, but it instantly reminded me of those summer days by the pool, it was so good. My partner ordered the Cali Cheese Steak, and he said it was one of the best Cheese Steak sandwiches he's ever had, and I can confirm ! Already want to come back here during the summer after a day at the beach to have a drink and enjoy their nachos !! read more

The sandwiches at Beach Hut Deli (Costa Mesa) were very good--fresh, flavorful, and exactly what we hoped for. Unfortunately, the experience was ruined by an employee named Mia, whose rude, dismissive, and visibly angry attitude made us feel unwelcome. We visit the area at least twice a month and were looking for a reliable spot for great to-go sandwiches. Sadly, no food--no matter how good--can outweigh such poor customer service. In our visit to Newport Beach, we were excited to try Beach Hut Deli (Costa Mesa) for the first time. The sandwiches were quite good. However, the one star rating is due to the obnoxious, toxic, hateful, disgraceful, angry attitude of an employee named Mia at the service counter. If she is any indication of the type of combative, arrogant, aggressive and intolerant attitude demonstrated by Beach Hut Deli employees, then I will never eat at a Beach Hut Deli again, nor will I recommend Beach Hut Deli to anybody I know. read more

Delicious, fresh sandwiches! You can't choose wrong here! I always get the California bc I don't eat meat but it tastes just like any Turkey or ham sandwich they make. I'd just finished volunteering, and was craving a sandwich, so I hopped onto Yelp to see what places were around. Scrolling down, a familiar name caught my eye: Beach Hut Deli. I'd ordered delivery from them before, so I figured I'd try them in person. Located in a strip mall, on some choice corner property, the place certainly looked beach/surf themed from the outside. Stepping in, I heard, and saw, some people seated at the bar, watching a football game. A bar? I was under the impression that this was a sandwich place? The place is more of a hybrid, actually. Part sandwich shop, part sports bar. With a tiki bar/beach themed decor. After perusing the menu, I decided on the Surfin' Cow, and I made it a combo with a bag of chips, and a drink. A friendly young lady fired up the register, and took my order, and even asked in a friendly, "Howdy Stranger!" tone how my day was going. Aww... There are TVs at EVERY table, as well as free Wi-Fi! My sandwich reached me as I was watching the football game on TV, and it was piping hot, fresh off the grill, just the way I like it. The meat is sliced carefully, and neatly. The sandwich prepped with care, and not thrown together haphazardly. Did I mention it was delicious? The meat, combined with all the veggies, plus avocado? Mmm-mm! You can sit inside, or, on the patio outside, if you're craving sunlight, or would rather do without the cheering bar patrons. The noise level is just above average on Game Days, but I imagine it's more chill on days when there are no sports on TV. Restroom? Clean! Only room for one person at a time, but that's fine. Overall, I was pleased with my first in-person visit, and would definitely drop by again! read more

I noticed this place while driving back and forth doing DoorDash. I read the reviews and I wholeheartedly agree with all of the great reviews! I ordered a Beach Bikini sandwich with chips and drink. Great selection of chips. I got Zapps Louisiana kettle chips. They had fresh brewed tea which was cold and delicious. The overall experience and the sandwich was what makes this place memorable and my sandwich place in Newport Costa Mesa area now. They packed the sandwich with meat! Spread evenly all other contents. Perfectly toasted! This sandwich was literally perfect! Just like the kind my Mom used to make me. When I say overall experience I mean the sandwich was wrapped in the restaurant wrapper and restaurant bag, with restaurant cup. The place was very atmospheric, surfboard table, hawaii beachy scenery, and they have a small bar there with more than several selections on tap. I'll definitely be back soon! It was worth every penny. The cost is average price for food out today. Less than 15 for a powerful sandwich, chips and drink. The sandwich was awesome!! Can't wait to try other sandwiches here but I think I want the one I got next time because it was so damn good. Never would have thought cream cheese went well in a sandwich like this. Such a good spot! A hidden gem in Costa Mesa. We lived here for 3 years and never knew about it until recently. Fun spot to come watch college football on Saturdays! Nice beer selection and plenty of TVs to watch and lots of seating. The Santa Cruz sandwich hot is where it's at...bomb! Super nice staff too. Highly recommend for lunch! read more

Used to love this place but the quality has gone downhill. Nothing to serious, but the little details matter. Ordered a sandwich & asked for no mustard, got extra mustard on my sandwich. Got nachos to go, when I got home & opened the box they look like they've been thrown around in the box with brown avocado everywhere . Disappointing. read more

Yummy sandwiches! Inside is clean with plenty of seating inside and out. Ambiance is welcoming and laid back. The workers were very kind and quick with dishing out sandwiches. Came in with a group of 20+ people and everyone got their sandwich reasonably fast. I enjoyed the fixin's they put on the sandwich. If you want a quick bite, definitely recommend stopping here. A regular 6 inch sandwich is about $11 here. read more

A solid 4/5! Overall highly recommend! They have great gluten free options! Me and my friends got 3 different types of sandwiches here. I thought mine was amazing, and my friends liked theirs, although one of my friends said there was too much mustard on hers, but that was mostly a preference thing. Service was good, although they were busy and maybe slightly understaffed so we did wait a while to order. The ambience was cute, but we ordered take out so I can't speak for what it's like to sit in there. It was a little loud, but obviously popular! read more

This sandwich spot use to be our go to and recently it's gone down hill! Slow out getting sandwiches out, soda machine constantly down and just overall not the same great sandwiches as before. Our visits have become less and less. Very disappointing after being so good! read more

Wow!!! How have I never heard of this place. I was craving a turkey avocado sandwich and Beach Hut Deli did not disappoint. I have always leaned on Togo's for my #24, but this 9-inch sub is so filled with all the goodies, it was worth the price. I even have to save the other half for tomorrow. And, instead of getting regular chips, I got the tortilla chips and nacho cheese dip. Different, but I like. Definitely, will be back a lot sooner than later. read more

Very cute eatery. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. The business owners are brilliant with their deli/sports bar concept. It makes it possible for them to be open longer and serve more customers. First time review, so I'll try to go easy. It says deli, but it's more like a sports bar lots of TVs and beers on tap. It was lunchtime, so I decided to ask for a suggestion, and I went with the Hobie. What I didn't know is that they put a ton of mayo and mustard on this sandwich so I would recommend either getting it on the side or tell them to go easy. My first bite and the sandwich split open on me and then it was a wrestling match for the rest of the time trying to keep the meat from sliding out of my sandwich. For $16.50. I don't know if I'll be back there wasn't anything really special about the meal, the service or the price read more

Nailed the vibe, felt like we were at a beach away from California, on the islands. Staff was so friendly, the gal packaged and bagged our two sammy halves for takeaway. Local workers at the bar for lunch, plenty of seats. No rush, chill as long as you want. Slowly swung our coconut heads to the Jawaiian tunes and dub. I can imagine what it would be like with a good game on in the evening. TV in the booth. This Hut, likely packed. Packed like the parking at noon - it's easier to park across 17th at Wild Fork [we shop at Wild Fork every couple of weeks] , plenty of spaces. Westcliff Plaza across Irvine is another option. Oh, the sandos. My gal's Surfin' Bird was packed and stacked, she had swiss rather than cream cheese. You can option most sammiches as you like. Had the Beach Bikini and opted for bean sprouts. Loved the sunflower seeds, cream cheese of course. Check the plate under the sanger plate spread. Flying disc! Meat for ours was usual deli kine, a slight gripe. Carved fresh roast turkey would be deadly. No worries, we'll be back! read more

Beach Hut Deli has the best sandwiches!! They do not skimp on the meats, cheese and veggies. Sandwiches are LOADED with goodness. +The Malibu is one of their hot sandwiches: filled with chopped pastrami, Swiss, Italian dressing with mayo and avocado +Cali Cheesesteak stuffed with roast beef, onions and peppers. I would recommend getting the sauce on the side so the sandwich doesn't get soggy. Thursdays are for tall boys, good variety of beers to choose from! read more

Came into this shop for a quick bite to eat after being at the beach all day. Lots of sandwich, salad, and alcohol options. Super tasty and a really cool, relaxed vibe. Oh my. I love this place. I ordered "the woody" and it was sooooo satisfying and delicious! They have a lot of unique sandwiches here. Hot and cold. This was a hot one and I absolutely loved it! I love that they have unique options. Not just basic turkey sandwiches. I also love that you can basically design your own too. Really they have so many different options that I find it hard to believe if you don't like something on their menu. I also find it nice that you can order a 3 inch, 6, 9, and 12 depending on how hungry you are.. Not many places do stuff like that. It just shows how this restaurant is ready to please their customers. I can't wait to come back again and next time I will definitely dine in. Well hi there, folks! Something we don't often feature are sandwiches! But boy, have we got some incredible handheld food for you today! This little joint is huckin' hoagies and slinging subs like no one's business! Located right on 17th St in Costa Mesa, it's the perfect place for grabbing a bite if you're heading to or coming from the beach! We got some major bangers here. Look at this spread. Oh my goodness. These are some massive monsters of mighty magnitude. You might wanna get some friends if you're looking to order the XL size, because...well here's my arm in comparison. Now, let's see here, we got the Malibu, which is this guy, right here. It's a hot sandwich with chopped pastrami, avocado, and swiss cheese. Right off the bat, this chopped pastrami has an insanely tender texture, and the avocado and cheese just add to that creamy bite. This is IT right here. Boom, that's a sandwich I can definitely get behind. For a more traditional sub, check out this surfin' bird. Guys, you're gonna struggle to even get half of this sandwich to fit in your mouth. It. Is. Gigantic. As for the taste, the bread is perfect, just soft enough to be easy to bite through, but firm enough to hold all of that turkey, bacon, cream cheese, peppers, tomatoes, and lettuce inside. Of course it doesn't even matter because of how loaded this thing is. Best problem to have, I'd say! Lastly, we got something that bridges the other two sandwiches, the Woody! It's a hot sub, with roast beef, cheese, bbq sauce, and more! Look at that guy, geez. This one was slightly easier to compress, and that bite is heaven. Perfectly tender, with a kiss of texture from those onions and lettuce. I'm happy to report that this one tastes delectable too! I live in Huntington Beach and have a Beach Hut Deli up the street from my house i had been in one time and stood at the counter for 5 minutes and ended up walking out because i was never acknowledged. So when i had my family from the area rave about how good this location is i was skeptical about going. What a difference! The food at this location was amazing and the customer service was some of the best I've ever received. Cant remember the names of the 2 employees that were working that day but they were on point.If you are into excellent sandwiches and even better customer service then check them out. Last night, we spontaneously dropped by this sandwich shop, and it turned out to be a great decision! The friendly and helpful women on staff guided us on sandwich choices - I opted for a BLT while my boyfriend chose a turkey, ham, and bacon combo, and we both loved our picks! Plus, the fact that all the toppings were complimentary (a dream come true for me) made the experience even better. The service was pretty fast, and we were able to dine in and catch the TNF game. Great place! Went here with friends for trivia and dinner the other night. The staff was awesome, the food great and the beer unbelievably priced! I go to a lot of craft beer bars and for the quality of beer, the price is fantastic! Great stuff for half the price of the other guys! And don't even get me started on the staff. Went in with my boyfriend last week on a lunch date and we were pleaseantly surprised. Great selection of subs with real friendly staff! I got one of their featured sandwiches off the wall, it was the first picture (top) which happened to be there most popular turkey sandwich. Extremely tasty with a twist!
