Came in a few days ago .. not my first time but considering it to be my last . Ordered a hot sandwich which came out on an ice cold roll ... why would a hot sandwich not have toasted bread... the cream cheese on the sandwich was just slapped on the end of my microwaved meat which they don't even try to hide because the microwaves are on full display . No one ever checked on how my food was (which was awful ) while all the young girls who worked there just sat and gossiped about their lives, drinking their seltzers like it was a place to hang out that they get paid for . Fluffy fresh bread with enough bite for a hearty sandwich. I got the Cali bird and it was so good. Turkey slices, avo, bacon, red onion, tomato, cream cheese and Mayo/mustard. This was a nice place for a recent Toys for Tots fundraiser during the holiday season. It wasn't too far away. They had quite a few good beers. I don't know it there was anything good on tap, but the fundraiser had 4 free tastings of Ninkasi Brewing. The tastings were good for the most part. Beach Hut also had the football game on all the huge screen TVs that surrounded the relatively modest space. You know what that means. You are gonna find a lot of seats with a clear view of the game when you come here! This is the icing on the cake. I have to admit that this is hands down the best sandwich spot I've been to. For $30 sandwich it gave me two meals and they loaded up with so much meat for the 12-footer. Came for the promise of vegan options. Was not disappointed. Also I came on Thursday... was not expecting to get served a liter. Wow. The vegan vibe was delicious. If I could give this place 10 stars I would! Such a cool comfy little spot near Newport beach! Been here twice now and amazing both times. I love deli shops. There is something so great about a sandwich shop and the simplicity or complexity that it can offer. Some offer just the same ol same ol. Not Beach Hut Deli! This is far and away my absolute favorite new deli, and right up there with some of my top choices for best restaurants. The first time I walked in was just by chance, and this guy behind the counter asked if I had ever been here before. I told him no and he said he'd give me the low down. He proceeded to explain what is where in the menu and mention the most popular cold and hot sandwiches and then his favorites. I asked what he recommended and he told me to go with the Surfin' Bird. I took it and he mentioned they were out of avocado this day, it wasn't a problem, but I imagine a bummer for some. I added sprouts on in its place. This sandwich and the customer service level is outstanding. They have a killer variety of amazing sandwiches. They also have several beers in tap, and not just your mega beers, but smaller brewery beers, and a selection of wines. Great selection of chips and a healthy does of sweets available, if you have any room left after an amazing deli experience. The decor is, as you might guess, beach hut style. I definitely feel like I'm in vacation when I'm here, and I've lived in So Cal for most of my 40 years. I can't recommend this place highly enough. Today as I was headed towards an interview, with an hour and a half to kill, I realized I was hungry. I made the quick decision to fly over here for a sandwich. This is my second visit. Evan (mentioned earlier) was here and without looking he says bottom left, Malibu. I said done and done, I'll take it. He asked if I liked jalapeños and I said definitely, he added them on to this sandwich. I can't even describe how I felt eating this sandwich, but I'll try. The Malibu is pastrami, Swiss, Italian dressing, avocado and mayo on toasted garlic bread, not not just garlic bread. The most epic garlic bread I have ever tasted. You can actually see slices of roasted garlic baked right into the bread. This plus the jalapeños and juiciest pastrami I may ever have had, this was nirvana. You HAVE to go here. If you think fast food is making America fat, think again!! This is the true place making us PHAT!! I don't know of any other place that puts cream cheese plus regular cheese in EVERYTHING! I'm not complaining, I love it .... But could you use fat free cream cheese to make me feel less guilty? I'm sure the answer to that is a big, fat NO! Keep doing what you guys do and I'll just have to figure out how I can still have you without breaking the scale. Can I give them 10 stars !!!!!!!! I've had Beach hut on my bookmark when I first saw them pop up on yelp and im so glad it didn't take to long to try them. I've had them 3 times in a week!!!! Thats how much I love them :) After discharging my moms from the hospital, I knew she would want some real food! I wanted a sandwich so bad and this place was on the way out so I was like LETS GO ( In my Lil jon voice.) Wasn't to hard to find this place its on 17th and Irvine ave. Walked in took a menu and sat down. All the sandwiches sounds AWESOME. Not one sandwich sounds lame. I plan on taking down each one within a year LOL.. Since I was having a later dinner at The ranch, I didn't want a full sammie, so I ordered the dudette ( which is kids size) of a sammie. Which means a half size of a small. I did the meatball. Moms ordered a medium roast beef and little sister ordered a small turkey sammie. Also took a side potato and pasta salad. Sandwiches were made in no time and we took them home. Started to open everything up and the sandwiches were made to expectations, since we like all of our sandwiches made our way. My sisters boring turkey sandwich was still tasty and super fresh. Moms roast beef sandwich was HUGE. That was just a medium, I wonder what a large looks like! Yet again very fresh and flavorful. The star of the show was my half meatball sammie! Its made with cream cheese and it works! The bread, the red sauce the moisture of the meatballs was insane! So damn good and none stop addicting. I forget the name of that salad but I can tell ya whats in it :D In the the salad it comes with romaine lettuce, tomatoes, red onions,avocado,blue cheese crumble, BACON , chicken, franks red hot sauce and melted pepperjack cheese! With a santa fe ranch dressing. This was a half size and I couldn't believe how big it was for a half size and just 4.95 beyond worth it. This salad was made with love by the longer haired cutie! My whole family loved this salad. Such a hearty tasty flavorful salad! One of the best sit down salads, I've ever had! The woody sammie was BOMB! This came with roast beef,cheddar,cream cheese,tabasco , bbq sauce, bacon,mayo,lettuce and onions! All this goodness in a half size sandwich!!!!!! It was so good. The dutch crunch was ok but I like Ikes place dutch crunch bread better, so next time im goin to keep with that crack french roll. My mom sandwich was a little dry and the garlic cheese bread sounds better on paper so we didn't know what happened there. Hey but we love trying new things. Next time again shes getting pretty much all her sammies on the french roll :D The bowl of chili was VERY good. Was not canned at all. Seasoned very well and my sister was addicted. Personally, not my thing... more of a sharp prov and broccoli rabe kind of girl. Aside from the occasional tryst with the meatball parm, I stick with salads here. Super salad is my typical go to, which is romaine, edamame, quinoa, avocado, feta, tomato, red onion, corn, for a buck add chicken with a tasty lemon garlic dressing served on the side. This is consistently fresh and decent, nothing special. I get the Mesa salad (romaine, chicken, bacon, blue cheese, jack cheese, avocado, tomato, hot sauce) if I'm really hungry. Also pretty good. My man loves this place. He is loyal to the sunburn, which is grilled chicken with Monterey Jack cheese, bacon, hot sauce, and ranch dressing. He also digs that we can sit at a surfboard table with our own TV to watch any game that tickles our fancy. Pretty nifty for a deli. They have a respectable roster of beers and an entertaining crew of semi-regulars that come in to drink them. The young women who work the registers are all absolutely adorable and sweet and proclaim, "Yum!" every time I order anything. I guess people need validation? Regardless, quite cute. I noticed also the complete details of straw around the room, hence the beach hut feel...soooo Loved it! Staff was welcoming and very helpful with suggestions. Since it was my first time, the gal behind the counter asked if I liked pastrami or if something hearty but not hefty.. which I replied "Yes, please that sounds perfecto" She recommended trying out the Malibu - Hot pastrami with Avocado, melted Swiss cheese and toasted golden.. WOW it tasted amazing as it sounds. A+ for innovation and grubbin' :-) I devoured the whole thing and it was truly satisfying. Perks: Sandwiches are hefty and filling for the $$. This location has a bar area and outdoor patio. TV's surround the dining area. Menu has a variety of sandwiches and salads, which is inviting to try more. Online ordering and Catering available.
