Went on a Saturday and thought we would order a quick sandwich to go. We were told it would be a 20 minute wait. No big deal, we weren't in that big of a rush. But an hour later and we still haven't received our sandwiches. There were other guests getting upset and the staff wasn't sympathetic or willing to cancel their orders. In the past hour we've counted 4 subs made for other people, which is completely unacceptable for an order that simply involves putting meat on a slice of bread. This is one of my favorite places to eat. You can study the menu and see the interesting combination of ingredients in every sand witch they make. The righteous ruben is my favorite - I usually get this once a week. Ive never had a Ruben with as many ingredients that blended together masterfully . My only mod is adding blue cheese crumbles. The owner keeps the best selection beers on draft . They keep staple selections like beach grease and two towns on regular rotation. The two towns is a unique blend sold exclusively in this region to beach hut. Its called Scrump. Opps, PDM used to be next door but, is now "Closed Forever". So, I accidentally ended up here ~ and I'm so glad! Just a sandwich & a beer but, plenty of selections in both and high-quality. I decided to try this place given the reviews seemed evenly split, unfortunately I'm going to have to say this place is a no-go for me. I walked in mid afternoon, place is small and quaint- typically a vibe I would appreciate, but after standing in front of their register for 5min no one ever acknowledged me. There were customers talking and joking with what seemed to be waitresses or cooks, but no one ever approached. The food looks like it could be good, but I didn't get a chance to try. If the customer service is not there, I won't offer my business and unfortunately this place has some things to work on. read more

I used to go here frequently. I like the sandwiches and the full bar and reggae music. That said, the ordering process has always been a mess and need a separate line for beer or drinks or just more order takers is needed. Maybe an IPad when the line gets long as custom sandwich orders take so long?... But the part I'm most bummed on and won't be back until it's fixed are the tables and chairs situation outside. The tables are old, sticky and gross. The chairs are broken and uncomfortable. Let this be a heads up to management or the owners. You are not getting my dollars until you clean house and get new clean furniture and working televisions. Just a total lack of effort and letting a good hang out go to pot. Take some lessons from In-N-Out and deep clean everyday and if a table has lost its integrity, buy new ones... Hungry, and unfamilar with this chain, I went for the X-large (12") Hobie. The Hobie has Salami, pastrami, and provolone. It came with 2 sides of Italian dressing. Today it was cold out so we ate inside which was unfortunate because it gave us time to look at the greasy fingerprints all over the plexiglass booth dividers fingerprints all over the TV dirt all over the floor the table was dirty the booth next to us had the dirty floormat sitting on the seats and from our seat I could see into the kitchen which also look dirty. The walls were caked with dirt it just didn't give you the impression of a clean restaurant.I spent about 20 years working in restaurants and a big part of the job is keeping everything clean in the kitchen and especially out in the dining area where the customers are I almost felt like I needed a penicillin shot before we left the place the food was still good though which is why I gave it 2 stars you get the other three when you clean up your act. read more

Went into this shop today with my friends looking to get dinner and eat on the beach. We were harassed by multiple workers for trying to go to the bathroom. 1 to the womens and 1 to the mens, with two people waiting outside. they continued to harass my three friends while i heard the yelling from the workers from inside of the bathroom. I came out and found out that they were immediately accusing us of being drug addicts or going to do inappropriate activities in the bathrooms. I loved this place and came here often this was really sad and one of the worst experiences i've had at any restaurant. Came here for the first time. The service was great. The sandwich was great. I order the "Regular size Surfin Bird" and asked for it to be on sliced wheat bread. It was a wonderful sandwich except for the price point. Because I got the sandwich on sliced wheat, and ordered a regular size, I only received 1/2 a sandwich. Literally - take 1 slice of bread, cut it and half, fill it and that cost $10.50. Based on that, I wouldn't go back as I can't justify the expense for half a sandwich. I ordered and paid for a salad online for pickup. When I arrived, they couldn't find my order and I had to point out that I could see my name on a bag by the kitchen. When I arrived home, I opened my salad to find only two tiny pieces of chicken in it, and they had completely omitted one of the other ingredients that was supposed to be in the salad. So I paid over $10 for a ton of lettuce and barely any toppings. Lesson learned that I should not trust that my order is correct and to check my order before heading home.
