This is the second time I've given a restaurant a bad review. I've been coming here for over 15 years and my husband for 25 years. The service was pathetic to start off this Mother's Day Dinner. My husbands potato was old and brown inside, the bathrooms are gross and there's no toilet paper...top it off with a long hair in my flounder (I have short hair), that ruined my dinner. My husband spoke to the manager and he was just as bad as the server, never apologized to us. Last time ever, ever going to this dump with such unprofessional staff and management. read more

I am not one to write a bad review, but this time it is warranted. My boyfriend and I are huge foodies. We love watching Triple D, and were so excited to try a spot that was highlighted by the show. I've never been so disappointed in my life. There was dirt or something floating all throughout my drink, my calm chowder was basically just onions and potatoes, and my fish sandwich was inedible. I've only been here once so it's hard to give it a five star however my experience here was very good. The place was crowded but I did not have to wait for a table. The staff was friendly. I have a small child with me and he provided a high chair without asking. Enjoy the atmosphere and the service was prompt even though it was busy. The staff kept the hot coffee coming and I had an omelette which was very big and very filling. The price is good and definitely plan on coming back try more breakfast dishes! read more

The place has some really good qualities and some areas for definite improvement. First, the good - the waitstaff is very attentive and friendly; the hushpuppies are really good; and the Oysters Rockefeller are probably the best I've ever had. Now the not so good - the much lauded 'fish hash' contained tasteless, overcooked rockfish with mostly undercooked potatoes (why would they make such a fuss about this dish on triple D?); and my wife's fish & chips was mostly rubbery. Being at the beach we had expected the fish to be flakey and perfectly cooked, but that was not the case. So, my boss brought me here. He was a frequent customer. Apparently, the newest owners are the children of the previous owners. They have let it go to hell. We came over a lunchbreak. It took half an hour for my burger that I ordered medium rare, to show up at the table. It came very well done. It also came with half a pound of extremely thick cut onions on it. brought it to the waitresses attention. She offered to send another. I told her we didn't have time to wait for another. Didn't comp the burger in any way. The staff was very distracted and unattentive. We had to frequently grab another waitress to get refills on our drinks during the lengthy wait for our food. My bosses food was sub- par as well. The place wasn't even very busy and they have lost one long time customer, and one new. read more

The Beach Pub has been a family favorite for almost 20 years however we stopped in for dinner and it was AWFUL. Crab cakes tasted like they came of a box, mostly breading. With all of the other choices in town we will not return for dinner. May still stop by for breakfast as I love the Crab Benedict but guys you need to get it together. The staff is really friendly and the portions are plentiful but the food is ok. There were 15 of us-the general impression was that it wasn't that great. My sister and I had dinner here yesterday 9/8/2016, I had a bowl of lump backfin crab. and hushpuppies. It was amazing, the butter to dip it in was wonderful. What a JOKE! We have lived in Virginia Beach all our lives, over 40 years. Have been to Beach Pub a handful of times and although I have never though it was the best place around it certainly WAS not the worst. Please note I said was. We went in on a Thursday evening wing night and shrimp. First, it took forever to get a table. I suppose not their fault considering they allowed a 10 top to pay with separate checks and I mean each one of them. Moving forward, we sit down to order and notice the Shrimp special had been marked out. So we ask if they were sold out. The bus boy says on no they actually found some. What?? They found some! That was a little scary and I looked at my husband and 2 kids and said we need to leave. It was after 7 and they were starving so, we stayed. Ugh what a HUGE mistake. So on to our order. We order two cocktails, the 5lb wing special, the steam shrimp special and two kids meals. Pretty simple. However, the wings special price they advertised had been marked through and had increased to 24.99, over $10.00, more. Ok, that was pathetic but again we were already committed. We get our drinks which were awful. I did not drink mine. So, an hour later we are still waiting for our food. My young children were beside themselves. People that came in after us had their food and were finishing. I could not believe it. Finally, we had to call it and got up to,leave. The bus boy said your food is almost done. ALMOST, after an hour. No thanks! The hostess got our waitress which apologized and just said we have a ton of wing orders. Mind you there were maybe 5/6 tables. Two of which came in after us and were finishing up their meals. Do you think there was any attempt to make up for the mess. Nope, they were even kind enough to charge us for the two disgusting drinks. So, guess what was for dinner Hardee's. Yeah, that's what I wanted instead of steamed shrimp. If you do decide to try them out just be aware. Their specials are advertised to get you there but don't expect them to actually follow through and honor them. Shame on you Beach Bully! Came in on a Sunday at 11:00 am. Great food and great service. My wife and I split the crab and cheese omelet and it was fantastic. One of our guests had crab cakes and eggs. They were delicious. The other went for a lunch meal and got the buffalo chicken or a pretzel roll and that was fantastic. On the downside, the clam fritter we got was cold and tasteless. We could have sent it back but we were enjoying the rest of the food so we just didn't finish them. The portions are generous, the pricing is reasonable and the staff is very personable. It didn't seem very touristy. Seemed like a local hangout. Find this place...you'll love it! read more

Went here on Guy Fieri's review. Among the friendliest places at the beach. Not oceanfront, but close, so not as crowded. Super staff. Unfortunately, the food was only average. Oysters Rockafeller disproportionately heavy on spinach, could not find bacon. Soft shells were in season, portions were generous, but everything was overly salted. Breading was a little heavy, a little greasy. Still, no regrets, mainly for the people. read more

The food was good. I had a turkey ruben sandwich and it was delicious. The carpet needs to be replaced and there was trash all over the floor. The vents in the ceiling were dirty and dusty. I don't want that dirt in my food when the AC or heat goes on. I will give it one more shot, probably at the bar!!! read more

Terrible from start to finish. Waited over an hour to get seated, but I was hoping the meal would make up for the long wait. Boy was I wrong. It took 15 minutes for the waitress to take our drink order once we were seated. It then took an hour to get our food, which was horrible. Barely saw the waitress during the whole experience. We were not offered anything like hush puppies or bread during our extremely long wait that is standard practice at most restaurants. When we tried to convey our problems to the manager, she kept interrupting us by saying "sorry", but it was obvious that she could care less. Don't waste your time or money. Went in last night for dinner. They were very accommodating to my friend's food allergies, and very aware of everything. If they weren't, they went back and checked quickly. Our waiter Chase was beyond awesome. We came after the dinner rush around 9pm so it was quiet in the place. Held an entire half hour conversation with us. As for the food, I ordered the Hawaiian chicken. Didn't like it much but that's because I'm super picky. My friend ordered the half & half and said it was the best scallops they've ever had. Had dinner here Thursday and the House Specialty Fried Flounder was absolutely Delicious ! It was cooked perfect with hush puppies fries and macaroni salad. My Father who is 94 couldn't believe the Huge Portions Of Flounder they gave us. Service was prompt and my sweet tea was always full ! Thanks guys. Great job !
