I've been a long time user of Yelp and have never been motivated to write a review until I had shaved ice and yogurt at S&Qs. It was terrible! Worst shaved ice I have ever had, anywhere. And I love shaved ice. Whenever it is available, I get it. Shaved ice should have the consistency of powdered snow. It should be finely shaved. This ice was rough granules and because of that, the syrup did not soak into the ice. The syrup basically sank to the bottom. So, my kids started spooning into it and basically ended up eating ice without any flavoring. I also ordered a lime yogurt. Horrible. It was too milky and the lime flavor tasted very artificial. As we walked out the door, we basically threw out the mostly uneaten bowls of shaved ice my kids had ordered and I threw out the yogurt after a single spoonful. Terrible. And so bad, it got me to join Yelp and post this review. read more

When I visit Maui for a couple weeks every year I stay right across the street at the Kamaole Nalu. Coffeemaker in the kitchen and I use it but often I just want to have someone else make the coffee and add a couple shots of espresso while I eat a muffin and read at a picnic table. I always go here and I am damned impressed the owner even remembers my usual drink from year to year. (Keep your punch card on file there and you'll never leave it at home.) My mission is coffee when I walk over but from all the comments I'll have to go in the afternoon and try a shave ice too. Back again - still great and my punch card is still on file! read more

They have the best coffee called Coconutty Late. It's a perfect island coffee. I order it hot and iced with almond milk. I preferred the hot between the two but both are excellent! 5 Stars on the : coconutty latte, Maui sunrise (parmesan bagel with cream cheese and tomatoes (the best I've ever had) , and the fruit chia parfait. This was our morning go-to place and we loved it! Coffee and bagels or the most delicious banana bread. The tsunami will getcha going for sure. P Everyone was super friendly and service was always on point. It wouldn't be proper if you were in Hawaii and didn't have shaved ice. Also an excellent choice with or without ice cream. read more

MILKSHAKE REVIEW!!! Hands down THE BEST milkshakes in Hawai'i that I know of! And I am a milkshake connoisseur! Whenever I am in Kihei, I always get the Kona Bean Shake. So. amazingly. delicious. Milkshakes are made with high quality ice cream and ingredients! They are not overly sweet. Texture and consistency is perfect. Make sure you get the large or you'll be left wanting more! Excellent little mom and pops place. My husband and I loved getting coffee here each morning on our trip before we started the day. They have food, as well as coffee. The service is great and the owner is, himself, a worker. Very friendly, ample parking, and quick service. Coffee is great and worth missing Starbucks for at least once. read more

I LOVE shave ice. I am neither a local nor a shave ice expert but this place was pretty delicious. I have had my fair share of shave ice, and this place was pretty good. I wouldnt say amazing, but I did come here twice a day for a few days during my stay. I even got one last shave ice on my way to the airport. Sharks blood (coconut and strawberry) is my all time favorite flavor combination. Sometimes coconut can taste kind of gross and not true to the actual fruit, but here it was close. They can even put gummy bears in your shave ice! WHAT? my two favorite things. This place is so good! read more

After my favorite Shave (not Shaved) Ice place on Maui, Tom's Mini Mart, closed, I started going to Ululani's. They were good and I thought I found a decent replacement. But this time I came to Maui after the State opened up to more visitors, and the lines at Ululani's was just too long. I always saw this one when I had dinner at Cafe O'Lei but never tried it because I was there for dinner and never had room for anything afterwards. So as I drove by, I saw the line wasn't so long and quickly turned into the parking lot. The timing was right, as there were always long lines here too, but I got here just before the rush. I actually like this place better than Ululani's, as the shave ice was finer, and the flavors soaked through better, especially the coconut flavor, and it tasted better. read more

We were just driving through Kihei for the first time and wanted a quick place to stop. It's a good lil walk up dive that has just the shaved ice Hawaii is known for. Not the fastest, not the slowest. Not the cleanest, not the dirtiest. Good ol' average rating. If you are getting here by car and coming from the north you have to really want to stop, crossing traffic and navigating tight parking are super easy. read more

This cute little joint was our favourite snack destination during a trip to Maui! Although primarily known for their shaved ice, this place has literally everything!! Shaved ice, smoothies, breakfast, coffee and a bunch of other snacks. The shaved ice is refreshing on a hot Maui morning - there are so many flavours and combinations to choose from! Oh how I wish this place was on Molokai. I think I will always visit this place everytime I come to Maui. From the outside it doesn't look like much, just a counter coffee, smoothie, and shave ice place. But what I like most: they had a baby in a rocking chair on the counter while they were making coffees. A family establishment, and very hard working from the amount of people that were standing in line when I ordered. I had caramel iced latte, very delicious and satisfying. They have a small area for seating that is shaded and we enjoyed our coffees there. It was peaceful and lively at the same time. I would def recommend it. read more

Complicated, slightly deceiving menu! It should read small $6, medium $7, large $8. Why would you put false pricing right above the photo? How many people actually notice the small $1.50 extra that's below the pictures. Such a tricky menu. I'd update that because it throws their customers off and that's not a good business practice, assuming they did that on purpose. read more

This coffee shack on the front corner of the Rainbow Mall packs a lot of aloha into a small space. It has been a regular morning stop when I'm out walking and want a quick cup of coffee. Prices are reasonable, and the coffee is fresh and local. But there's more. A small breakfast menu, fresh baked goods and shave ice. I haven't tried the shave ice yet, but can confirm that the breads and muffins are delicious. Service has always been warm and friendly. Outdoor seating is limited, but usually not too crowded. This is more if a walk-up business close to South Kihei beaches, so grab a seat, or walk across the street for some honu spotting at Kamaole 1 beach. All good. read more

Never understood that Hawaii shaved ice was not the fluorescent rock hard ice chunks that you would get at a swap meet or ball park until we came here. A friend who has been living in Maui for more than 15 years recommended this place and after one try we were there everyday, sometimes twice until the day of departure home. Just the right proportion of shaved ice to ice cream and toppings. Their suggested combos were great and had just the right blend of flavors! HIGHLY recommended to anyone who is around the Kihei area. read more
