First of all I want to say that our server was great. She was knowledgeable and attentive and fun. But we were disappointed in our food. We ordered the red peel and eat shrimp and they were rubbery. Fiancé and I just moved to the area and absolutely adore this place!! The service is always great and the restaurant is next to a free public beach access so you can enjoy the beach. Alcoholic drinks and reasonably priced, especially the $1.50 drafts. Some of my favorites are the Mexican street corn, hush puppies, & the grouper Philly cheesesteak. Cute little place right off the beach. Parking is a bit tricky with the public access lots, but not unmanageable. The waitstaff was super friendly and struck the right balance of attentive while still letting us enjoy our meal in peace. The outdoor patio was cute and breezy. My husband ordered the grouper Philly and absolutely loved it. He said it's exactly what he's looking for when he orders seafood. I had the mahi tacos (fine) and the chowder (good). I hate having to leave a poor rating but I use yelp a lot when traveling so I feel like other visitors should know. My daughter and I waited at the front entrance of the restaurant for 15-20 mins. No one acknowledged us, no sign instructing us to go to the side/back entrance where the hostess was. A waitress finally said "oh there are 2 entrances and 2 hostesses but the one up here is gone." Really!? We should have left but against our better judgment we decided to put our names on the waiting list. We arrived before 2 other parties but they were seated first. My daughter said "Mom, let's go. It's not worth the wait or the bad service." A dining experience is not only the food but also the ambiance and service. We didn't taste the food because the ambiance and service left a terrible taste in our mouth. Maybe next time I'll be able to leave a review about the food. read more

We had a family vacation with 22 people in our group. Everyone agreed that the food at Beach Waves Grill was above par. We tried other places around the area but BWG seemed to standout. A few of our favorites were the mahi sandwich, the crab cakes and the ahi tuna. We only did take out but the service was still excellent! 10/10 would recommend! read more

This could have been an easy 4-5 star review. The seafood food was great, perfectly prepared. If you like craft beer, you will be disappointed -- whoever orders their beer needs help on catering to that community. However, what is REALLY broken is their waitress staff. Been there about a dozen times and I've eaten at the bar every time. I try to have something different whenever I go there. The portions are small and the prices have gone from "reasonable" to "not that great" with no change in the quality or quantity of the food. They offer some draft beer for $1.50 per glass and the bartender claims that it's a 12 oz. glass when filled to the rim. No way, but she insisted. So I ordered a bottle of beer (12 oz.) and filled the glass to the rim and there was still at least 2 oz. left in the bottle. Worse yet, when they serve the draft beer the level of the beer is about 3/4" to an inch or so from the rim once the head goes down. If you're lucky, you're getting about 8 oz. or so. That doesn't bother me... it's the fact that they purposely try to deceive customers. I was sitting next to someone that ordered the clam strip platter described something like "a generous portion of clams" and when he was served, he had a very small portion of clams and a dish-full of French Fries. He complained and sent them back. I had tried the clams on another occasion and they were the worst I've ever had anywhere. On this site I've seen people post pics of their meals... one grouper Philly sub with hardly any meat in it and another of the steak sub with almost no meat. The scallop dinner is OK... $18, but nothing to brag about for the price and the scallops were very small. The woman behind the bar is one of the owner's daughters, I believe... she goes by the name Sam. She never had much of a personality and I don't think I ever saw her smile. (She's the one that insisted the draft was 12 oz. and she had no explanation for her erroneous claims when she was proven wrong). But the kicker was when I ordered the scallop dinner and asked for extra butter, she seemed annoyed and when I got the bill she had charged me $1 for the butter. In all my life I have never been charged for butter! I said to her, you charge for butter? She just said "yes." I paid the bill and said to her, "You just lost my business over a dollar," and she replied, "Sorry." One last thing, if you have children, perhaps you should avoid eating in the bar area or patio. Several times I experienced guys drunk and loud using profanities while Sam ignored the problem completely. It was embarrassing. That uncaring superior attitude is one reason I won't go back and the sub-average food quality and value for the money is the other. I usually leave a 20% tip and I later regretted that this time I left 10%. She deserved "(0)." read more

We just got back from a week long vacation and chose Beach Waves on our last night. This was hands down our best meal of our trip. We had mahi tacos, grouper dinner, Cajun grouper sandwich, and the grouper Philly which was out of this world! Hush puppies were outstanding as was the loaded baked potato. Everybody loved their food: Kids' fried shrimp were tasty, included french fries, and were a great value. Grouper nuggets were tasty, a good size portion, and a great value. I was told the grouper sandwich was tasty and a great value as well. $1.50 draft beer specials (granted, it is for like a 10 ounce glass, but that's still a pretty good value in today's age) They have a patio if you want to sit outside. The food was good, but this place used to be the best Thai food restaurant this side of Florida. Now it's a seafood place like the 12 other seafood places that are in dog-walking distance of each other. Great staff, friendly peeps, nice atmosphere, but I just wish they'd kept the extended menu that had the Thai food, too. It made this spot Thee spot, separated it from the others. No Pad Thai even comes close, not even 1/4 close to what Thai Pan Alley made. The smell of the seasoning and flavors were so amazing, you could smell it over the ocean as you walked up. Good food! Location was packed both times we went. Lindsey was great! We got the Grouper Ruben, a margarita, Philly steak and Philly chicken and Philly Grouper sandwiches. All were a nice size. I was there July 2022. The place was packed. I got on the waiting list and had to wait about 40 minutes. The young lady came outside and checked on me three times making sure I was alright waiting in the hot sun. She got me a table and made sure I was ok. The fried clams and French fries were very tasty. The tea was super cold and refreshing. The service was above and beyond my expectations. This place is near parking for Indian Rocks Beach. Our server, Linda (an older lady) was awesome. We ordered coconut shrimp with raspberry sauce. The sauce is amazing. The shrimp was alright. I ordered the chicken tacos and they were so good. Rice and beans is reminiscent of Brazilian style rice and beans. The chicken had Cajun seasoning and the sauce was awesome. We also ordered ribs-seasoning was good but ribs were dry. Fries are amazing with a great seasoning. Sodas are unlimited refills. The salad was also amazing. So I think it depends on what you order but it has a great beach vibe, good music, a fresh breeze coming through the windows. Reminded me of North Shore in Hawaii. We were on vacation and wanted to try the local food for delivery. They deliver via the regular options but since we were minutes away, we opted for pick up. This place just met all our expectations! The menu had mostly seafood with some meat options. They had kids meals as well. The food was delicious and the food was always ready in 20 minutes. ZERO stars but I am forced to give it one. I am ok with the 2 dollar beers that are about 8-10 ounces in small cups, no issues there. The food and service however were the worst I have experienced on the beach. I ordered clam strips basket. It is almost impossible to screw up this dish. However, it came out not good at all. The lady at the table next to us had the same thing. She looked at ours and looked at hers and did not recognize what we had. She even offered to share hers which was kind of her. The portion was teeny and the clam strips more so resembled little tiny brown pebbles. There were no strips to speak of, just little burnt crumbs. They were over fried, tiny and there were very very few of them. Not the "generous portion" the menu claims. The clam strips came on a bed of fries so that is what I got full on. The fries were just ok, but I was starving after getting off of the beach. I wanted to let the bartender , Kendra, know but she did not come to check on us at all until we were totally done eating. Almost like she knew and wanted to avoid it. She asked me if I wanted to order something else, I said no. I mean why would I? To add insult to injury there was no discount on my check, I paid full price and they even charged me for a small cup of tartar sauce. They just had to make sure I paid that fifty cents even after ruining my meal. Avoid this place, there are far better options, pretty much anywhere else. I am a local and this could have been a cool spot to frequent but they lost their chance. read more

During our review of restaurants on Yelp saw that this was a recent addition. As locals, we always want to support new places and we were so happy we did! The restuarant is pleasantly decorated, the staff are very attentive (great job Lexi!), and the food is on point. We had a minor issue and the management took care of it immediately. Also, it's just a moment from the beach. They have outdoor seating which is a nice thing if you're coming off the beach. We definitely will be back and take advantage of the extremely cheap drafts! Small grill next to a beach access with excellent food. My wife had the breaded shrimp platter and I had a grilled scallop platter. One of their many sides was Mexican Street Corn. It was whole corn covered with a savory cream sauce and grated parmesan cheese. Never had anything like it but we both enjoyed it.
