We were here June 20th, 2026 for a afternoon World Cup Game . (Germany and Ivory Coast). Ambiance- We were hoping for some good ambiance, a real watch party being a pub. It wasn't that. Maybe if they were USA or more popular teams it would have been different. There were 4 people in the couch area, it was cozy so we didn't join them, but that was were the action was. No one in the bar area where we sat was into the game Seating- We arrived around 1pm just as the game was starting. The bar was nearly empty. Two parties were there sitting at the bar. One group had around 7 people, all in A's Jersey's. The A's were playing that evening at 7pm so these people were getting the party started early. We sat on one of the couple high tops. There was a tv right above us and was impossible. To see from our angle. There ware 2 TVs above the bar. One kept going in and out due to no signal, but the other one help up. We turned our chairs to face the tv so it was a great seating arrangement. The sound was not on for the TV so you just had to follow the game visually. Food- It's a pub so it's all pub food. My husband didn't want anything fried so that eliminated the fish and chips. That left us with a salad or a burger We got the pub burger for $21. It seemed kind of steep, but you're in a tourist area so that explains it. The burger was extra juicy at medium so that was good. It did lack flavor. It does help that it had pickles on it. That gave it some flavor. The onions were flavorless, but looked grilled. The menu doesn't say it, but it comes with fries. The fries needed more salt, but dipping them in ketchup helped the flavor. Now reading other reviews it looks like we could have gotten a side salad instead of fries. I guess we could have asked, but we didn't know it came with fries so we didn't ask for a subsitute. Bathroom- They had really nice bathrooms. You didn't have to go out side to the public restrooms. That was a plus especially since my burger was extra juicy and I needed to wash them. Parking- It's all street parking out front. Old Sacramento also has two garages that aren't that far. Depending on the day and the events that are gong on you you either pay by the day or by the hour. And don't lose your ticket as then you have to pay the maximum. If you are looking for a sit down place with pub food you've found your destination. This is one of the newer restaurants in Old Sacramento that isn't a white tablecloth type of restaurant. Which was a perk, because we weren't looking for fine dining this time. Actually we are never looking for fine dining when we go to Old Sacramento. The place was very clean and put off the new vibe. It's very nicely decorated. They even have a red telephone booth, a great place for pics.

I was looking for somewhere to eat for dinner in Old Sacramento and wandered by Bear & Crown. As it is a pub, it was dimly lit inside. It didn't have the most welcoming feel, as someone approached us from across the room after a few moments. I ordered the Fish & Chips and also tasted the Cottage Pie and Scotch Eggs. The portions for the main dishes weren't sizable but were good in terms of taste. The Fish & Chips was fine, but I will say the fish itself wasn't anything special. There was only one peice of fish, but I thought the cut was acceptable, although it would've been nice if the portion was slightly more. I thought the minted peas served with the dish were interesting. I'd never had anything like it before, the mint was very strong. I was impressed that the tartar sauce was made with fresh dill. The Cottage Pie was flavorful and I think I preferred this dish due to it being more unique to me than what i ordered. Service was fine overall. I had to ask for a water refill, so although not the most attentive, the staff was friendly.

Wow! Didn't know what we were walking into when we came in here for lunch: spacious and chill vibe with British pub decor and feel. Served by the personable Leo, we thoroughly enjoyed our delicious lunch: hummus dip app (yum), Margherita flatbread ( yum yum), and a HUGE coronation chicken salad sandwich with fries...OMG, the chicken was amazing, and I was full before I finished the first half ( dinner was the second half!). Walked by a couple eating at the bar and snapped a few pics of their lunch: huge is an understatement for the Asian chicken salad the female had, and the fish and chips looked delish too! Got to chat a bit with the owners too: Jessie and Joe, really nice guys. They have a store full of different British novelties( see pics), as well as offer game day specials. Support this business!!

I ordered the Cottage Pie and it was delicious, but tiny. It was very small at approximately 4" in diameter and 2" tall. I would probably need to eat 2-3 of these small pies to be satisfied. It was tasty and had lots of flavor with ground beef, potatoes, carrots, onions, and peas with gravy. The pie was very hot and fresh as it was served in a cast iron pie pan. The Scotch Eggs were flavorful and served with a curry mayo. The curry mayo was a delicious dipping aioli type sauce. The scotch eggs were soft boiled, breaded with sausage and breadcrumbs before being deep fried. They were scrumptious! The fish and chips were delicious however, the portion was small. There was only one piece of fish that looked like it was a half order. The tarter sauce tasted fresh and homemade with fresh dill. The minted peas were interesting as they were diced peas with a strong mint flavor. There is ample bar seating as this establishment is a restaurant/bar. Two pool tables are available which only take quarters to play. There is seating outside and an outdoor fire pit that overlooks the alley and other buildings in Old Sacramento. It was interesting to view the buildings from the patio as there appears to be apartments on the upper levels of the buildings, but at the ground level the façade retains the original historic presentation/construction. Service was average as workers were friendly. The server needed to be asked to refill water.

Hey there Party People Roaming around Old Town Sacramento getting ready for the Big 4th of July celebrations. Just can't resist a pub atmosphere especially with the World Cup playing in the background. The Bear & Crown represents the English Pub culture expertly. Thought I was back in London. Our waiter was great and made some fabulous suggestions. We had the Hummus dip as a starter. It was delicious. First time I've had it with roasted veggies in the dip. It really added an extra layer of flavor. The pita bread was fresh baked and perfectly soft. I had the Tequila Chicken Pasta. Be hungry because the plate was huge. I told my waiter to make it extra spicy and boy did the chefs listen. It was the bomb the sauce was rich like an Alfredo...so tasty. Hubby had the Bear Burger. He loved it and raved about the Black Pepper sauce that came on it. The burger was perfectly cooked to a medium well. Next time I visit I'm so coming back to visit London here in Sacramento. Be kind to one another

A nice new spot in Old Sacramento for the tourists and locals alike. I really appreciated that this place is comfortable and seamless with hosting large group events. While a little pricey, likely because of the location, we had our own space and a great selection of foods. We love that they seem to understand that some of the most delicious British food consists of the foods from countries they colonized, so the menu incorporation of the Indian curries are much appreciated! There was quite the array of fried foods but all were very good and crispy. The salad was also decent. The interior is a bit far and moody, but I think that sets the vibe. The staff seem fine and are available if needed. Parking may be a little rough given the location, but it's a fun place to check out and have a nicer meal in Old Sac!

I first want to say that I knew I would be visiting the area with my pup and so I messaged a few places I was interested in stopping at about their dog policy. Bear & Crown replied to me right away that they have a very dog friendly patio where we could enjoy a meal and some drinks. They have great customer service. When I arrived, they were having Drag Queen Karaoke and the place was packed. Everyone seemed to be having a great time and customers were very supportive of the singers (regardless of their talent level lol) so I really enjoyed the reassuring and uplifting vibes. We hung out in front for a bit and listened to a few songs while a few in my group had a drink but ultimately it was a bit too crowded and rowdy for us with our lil pup. Otherwise I would have been at the bar right away and had my name down for a song. We enjoyed our time here and I really look forward to coming back again soon and trying out the entire menu.

My husband and I were visiting Old Sacramento on Saturday and decided to check out Bear & Crown for the first time. The inside was decent sized with plenty of tables and booths - I loved seeing the interior decorated like a true London pub. The old school phonebooth was a nice touch too! We ordered the Kids Grilled Cheese and Fries, Fish and Chips, Pub House Pretzel, Scotch Eggs and the Best Date Ever. I also ordered a Gin Fizz which was a special drink they had for Mardi Gras. Everything was so good! My husband loved his Fish and Chips, the kids devoured their Grilled Cheese Sandwiches and I ate every single one of those Scotch Eggs and bacon wrapped dates. Everything was cooked well and seasoned perfectly. They also had a Mardi Gras menu available that included special drinks plus Gumbo and Shrimp and Grits. Service was spot on - he gave great recommendations and was super friendly. Our water glasses were never empty! They also offer a gift shop with lots of British items and snacks! Overall, we are big fans of Bear & Crown now! There were so many items on the menu that sounded great - we will definitely be back next time we are in Old Sac! Check them out!

I was seriously craving Shepherd Pie and though they didn't have it the barkeep was able to direct me to a suitable choice, their Cottage Pie. For $17 in a piping hot small cast iron serving dish it hot the spot. It's a nicely seasoned mix of ground beef, onions, peas and carrots in a rich brown gravy topped with whipped Duchess Potatoes. It was very flavorful and worth the charge IMO. They also offer at least a dozen beers including the larger well known brands and some local flavors. I have visited this pub in the past and it never disappoints. I will return next time travels being me to Sacramento.

Since parking's always a challenge for us when in Old Sac, we decided to park in the lot by L St, behind The Firehouse Restaurant. It was $6 for 2 hours which wasn't too bad. We were in this part of the Capital City for Dine Downtown 2026. We checked in earlier than our dinner reservation that Saturday and got sat in a spacious booth. It's beautiful inside with oversized seating booths, couches & ottomans, pool tables, and a full service bar. While the outside had more seating, it was too chilly for a comfortable dinner. Being a British pub, they are adorned with decor reminiscent of London. They also have a souvenir shop in the adjacent connected stall. Our drinks were the non-alcoholic Modest Mule and a glass of 20 Acres Cabernet Sauvignon. Appetizers were the Scotch Egg and Tomato Bisque (soup of the day). Entrees were Almond Crusted Brook Trout and Bangers & Mash (sausage and mashed potatoes) Desserts were Seasonal Bread Pudding and Sticky Toffee Pudding. For $49/person, this wasn't a bad deal. The fish and desserts lacked in flavor though. This is a good British pub in Old Sac with a great environment for watching a game while having a meal or a drink. Staff was nice and the restrooms were clean.

Came here on a Saturday dinner for Dine Downtown. Made a reservation on Open Table and I definitely recommend doing so as weekend can be busy. I heard 1 couple without reservation was told that the wait time was about 1 hour. Bear & Crown is located within the Old Sac area by 22nd street. On a Saturday night, it was not so hard to find parking. $3 per 1 hour for parking in one of the garages, max of $15 per day. This restaurant space wise is huge with a bar area, tables and booths. Good for groups. The Dine Downtown Menu is as follows: Appetizers * Scotch Egg - 7-minute egg wrapped in house-made sausage and bread crumbs served with house made curry mayo (yummy!) * Soup of the Day - Tomato bisque (yummy too) Entree * Bangers & Mash - two english-style sausages, roasted garlic mashed potatoes, onion gravy & buttered peas - this was good as well *Almond crusted Brook Trout served with basmati rice, lemon-tarragon butter, lemon broccolini - the fish was good but could need a little bit of seasoning and sauce Dessert *Sticky Toffee Pudding served with vanilla -bean ice cream and house made caramel sauce *Seasonal Bread Pudding served with house made caramel sauce Drinks * hubby got a cabernet *I got the modest mule (non alcoholic option) Me and hubby got 1 of each. The Dine Downtown pricing is $45/person for a 3 course meal. This is a worth it deal. Food here in Bear & Crown was good and serving was huge we had to take home the bread pudding and half of the trout. January 2026

A fantastic find! The Bear and Crown Pub nails that authentic British pub vibe the moment you walk in. Dark wood, cozy corners, and just the right amount of lively chatter create a welcoming atmosphere. The food was spot on. The Scotch Eggs were perfectly crispy on the outside with a beautifully runny yolk, and the Bangers and Mash was comfort food heaven. Juicy sausages and creamy mash smothered in rich gravy hit the mark. The staff were genuinely friendly and the service was quick and attentive without being overbearing. It felt like we were regulars from the first visit. If you are craving proper British pub fare in a warm and welcoming atmosphere, this place is a must. Highly recommended!

We have been to the spot through probably five restaurants that have opened and closed. This is the first one since 1022 that has been good! The British pub food felt authentic. The fish and chips in particular were really great. We also had the Guinness stew which was yummy. And they had Fullers ESB on tap! You can enjoy the full menu sitting at the bar or in the little lobby area by the cozy fire, watching sports too. Love. This is a great spot in Old Sac. The only reason I'm not giving a five stars is because I think they're still sorting out some kinks in the service. They seem to be a little understaffed and confused about where food is going, but maybe I just got them on an exceptionally busy weekend. read more

I noticed this review was left out from 2024. Sat down at the bar on october 6 around 1pm in 2024, the bartender ignored me and my wife. Took 30 mins for the bartender to finally look our way. Ordered the pickled eggs and some appetizers. Pickled egg was a hard boiled egg dipped in vinegar for 10 seconds... the petty blonde bartender ignored us for another hour. If you want to get ignored and pay 50 bucks for a beer and some appetizers... feel free too... will never come back. It looks like this happens alot to people who aren't their type of people read more

Well, the scotch egg was good, crispy and tasty. The fish in the fish and chips while nice and crispy, was dry and unseasoned. It's insulting to pay for food that someone doesn't really care about. Usually I eat any vegie garnish served with my meal. The lettuce that came with the scotch egg was sad and limp. Again, someone doesn't care about the details. Finally, the bartender while did serve us, was not very friendly or welcoming. Then we get a check with gratutity starting at 18%... no, no, no, you don't get an automatic big tip for being indifferent. whenever I see a 4 star rating at a tourist restaurant I'll automatically downgrade it by at least 1 star. read more

I've enjoyed this restaurant several times. Great place in Old Town Sacramento. Food, drinks, pool table, outdoor patio. Great staff, family friendly. And the food is consistent fresh and very tasty. Food was ok, nothing special. We had burgers, salads, appetizers. All was middle of the road good. Great wine and whisky selection. But the worst was the music. You are tortured with Britney Spears on repeat. Music doesn't go with the venue it was insanely loud and hard to talk over. With only about 8 customers in the palace this was really bad. read more

We stopped by this place through Yelp reviews. Beef stew was amazing, service? It was ok! It seems like they paid attention to others more than us? I probably will return just to try their Shepard's pie. Other than that. I wish they can work on customer service on their server staff! We had to keep asking 6 times for refills. Walked into this business for the first time ever tonight. I will never return nor recommend this business to others. I happened to be leading a part of twenty plus people tonight from place to place to celebrate a significant birthday party. I was ahead of the crowd scouting the next stops and was hungry so I stepped into the Bear & Crown. That'll be the last time.... The woman who walked in with me chose to sit down next to me and while we had a conversation about various topics, she was obviously on a schedule and had other agendas. It turns out that she poured the rest of her beer into a plastic water cup she'd asked for at dooms point before she left. I learned this when the guy in the green t-shirt walked up to me minding my own business at the bar eating the food I'd ordered and informed me that "you should know that your friend was seen taking alcohol from this restaurant and she's obviously not welcome back." People living, pissing, crapping, on the streets 10' away from your store front but you have the audacity to come at ME for some woman pouring her beer (THAT WAS PAID FOR) into a water cup who sat down next to me at the bar did??! $4,972.74 BTW..... That's what the group I redirected from your disrespectful manager (or who ever you call the guy in green shirt who gets to shoulder the iPad) just spent across the way. It takes lot for me to leave a negative review about a business. Rest assured I'll continue to let folks know that they're not welcome at the Bear & Crown! read more

The atmosphere was nice and they have some pool tables which was cool. They have a nice outdoor area with games and seating. I was disappointed because I went there ready to try their stew. When I ordered the waiter told me they did not have stew or soup today and that the cook/chef decided not to make any today. If it's on the menu you should have it. It is not a special of the day. It's actually on the hard copy menu. The waiter was nice though. read more

Bear & Crown is super cute! It's really spacious inside - lots of places to sit and eat/chill. Their outside space is a whole vibeee. They have the infamous red phone booth for pics, misters for hot days, and string lights/a fire place for the chill nights. The service was friendly, but a bit slow in my opinion. It wasn't busy at all when I went and my food took a while to come out. Overall, I think Bear & Crown is a great edition to Old Sac and I will definitely be back! read more

The Beef and Guinness stew was very good. Lots of flavor. Steak Frites was good but had a bit of gristle. Fries were tasty. Really enjoyed the Noble Steed, bourbon, sweet vermouth, raspberry and chocolate bitters, what a treat. Service was very good and friendly. Not very loud so it was easy to have a conversation without having to yell. read more

We ducked into this pub on a rainy afternoon, and were happy we did! The Scotch Egg was fantastic, as were the sliders. I had the Guinness beef stew, which was heavenly and spicy, and my wife had the chicken curry, which was slightly on the bland side, but still pretty good. Our server was helpful and friendly, and the ambiance was perfect for daytime in a pub. If we were in the area again, we would be happy to return. read more

Good sports bar in the heart of the Old Sacramento area. It's walking distance from all the other shops and restaurants. Couple of pool tables, several large tv's and a bar area with some decent alcohol. They serve some of the traditional British drinks here too. Looks like they are expanding to include British breakfast; a game changer especially for those looking for the traditional British style breakfast. Prices were fair, despite being in a high traffic area. The toffee pudding with a scoop of vanilla ice cream was a winner! read more

Food was pretty good, me and my wife came here, we ordered the scotch eggs and bangers and mash. However, A Young white kid with shaggy brown hair was super rude and acted very inappropriately towards my wife by repeatedly staring at her breasts, and I am almost certain he was trying to steal money from my wallet. Wow! Honestly such a perfect dinner spot! We shared the fried pickles and Dublin lawyer. The ranch is so good we needed another and the shrimp sauce was delicious. An outstanding visit to Bear & Crown this weekend to celebrate a dear friend's birthday! Beautiful, well-decorated space that was somehow wide open and cozy at the same time. We enjoyed all the food and drinks we tried, especially the Noble Steed cocktail, and got wonderful service from Brittany. Overall, an impressive start for Bear & Crown, and a great addition to the Sacramento dining scene. Recently after a walk though Old Sac in the late afternoon, I stopped into the "Bear and Crown" for a drink and early dinner. I sat at the bar where Leo took good care of me with one of their signature "gold rush" cocktails and his suggestion of the bangers and mash was spot on ...the large space of the restaurant is open, warm, and comfortable, with a large patio in the back and a newly added "English store" in the front. This new restaurant in Old Sacramento is worth a visit. The space is nice, with booths, large bar and open kitchen. The back patio was great, with misters. The service was not bad, but not stellar either. The food... loved the fish & chips. Get the steak cut fries. Our only complaint is the lack of vegetarian choices. Even the ploughman's salad we ordered WITHOUT bacon arrived with bacon. Had to be sent back. Even just adding a veggie burger patty as an alternative would go a long way. read more

Fine if you're going to drink but avoid the food. My girlfriend and I shared the fish and chips and we couldn't finish it. Greasy, bland, and the batter slid off the frozen fish immediately. Our bartender was very nice but seemed to be the only one working the floor. Seating people, bringing waters to the table, taking orders, making drinks. Guy needs a raise! read more

Meet the Business Owner: Joe L.

Jesse & Joe Ledin are a Sacramento-based couple who founded Bear & Crown in 2023 with the help of their family and close friends. They have lived in downtown Sacramento for 8 years and are excited to share their family’s history and heritage with the city! Jesse hails from Phoenix, AZ and has 19 years of experience in the food & beverage industry as a restaurant manager, beverage distributor, and most recently founder & COO of Tipsy Putt indoor mini golf/craft beer bar. Joe was born in London, England before moving to the West Coast with his family. He graduated with a business degree from UC Berkeley and works as a manager for a public accounting firm.

No complaints though I wish I ordered the garlic fries... the smell was good. One thing I didn't get to try was their famous, Starbust drink which is a mix of beer, cider and some frosty, maybe. The color was intriguing and everyone seemed to order it around me. The misters were on, which was a blessing and a curse. Definitely helped cool me down, but also became a nuisance as the table and all my belongings got wet. Excited for their new location in Old Sac. Maybe a revised review in the future. Stay tuned.

I was not asked how I wanted it cooked (not expected or demanded by me) - but an observation that I toss in for comparison purposes. It was cooked to a solid medium, which is fine with me. Caramelized onions were standard - nice - but the tomato and lettuce were listed as 'optional' - and the bartender (Shift Night N) asked me if I wanted them. I opted in. The bun was above average - definitely a notch above the typical mass-produced buns often used elsewhere. I opted for sweet potato fries. They had good flavor. Personal preference-wise... I would have liked them to be cooked a smidge more. If/when I come back, I'll probably ask them to be crispy-er. Overall, thumbs up! We got 1 beer and some fish and chips. The place is small so we had to go downstairs. Once there- there was a sewer smell coming from the back end of the room it was disgusting. We had to move. The food arrived after a long time and asking the staff when the food would be ready and it was also pretty bad. Stale oil taste and burnt browned fish. We left after that and don't plan to be back. Don't even get me started on the bathroom it was dirty, sticky and lewd comments written every where.

Very excited--as one of a party of eight English folk (five of whom live in Sacramento), three Americans, and one Canadian--to give the new "British" Pub a try. (Disclosure: several of us are Food Industry). Space/Vibe: The place is large, and pleasant enough; it doesn't look that different from the previous Ten 22 incarnation. But a scant few dozen British-themed throw pillows and the odd flag/picture frame, though, does not a British Pub make. If you're going to hang your hat on the theme, you gotta go for it and really decorate the place with British paraphernalia (not a single kit to be seen). The garden is large and quite nice ... but note, no smoking (not the Pub's doing). Music isn't British, no jukebox either. Pool tables are a great addition, toilets clean. Overall, it's okay, but it doesn't feel British; maybe a slight bit of a "Wetherspoons" vibe but without the British beer? Service: All the staff were very welcoming and helpful; some need to gain menu knowledge, but it's to be expected early on. Overall, all were pleasant and welcoming, no issues. Food: Oh dear, there is considerable room for improvement (and more British options); we tried all the "British" dishes, plus the Burger. The Scotch Egg's egg was over-boiled (gray ring on the yolk), and hard-boiled (it does indicate hard-boiled on the menu to be fair). It was reminiscent of a gas station Scotch Egg. A restaurant Scotch Egg should be soft-boiled (think ramen egg), the sausage meat was dry and under-seasoned. Okay-ish, 5/10 The Fish n Chips were okay. They don't come with chips--it does indicate this on the menu--they were fries, and the fish was oddly very wet, not moist, reminiscent of frozen fish cooked from frozen. The batter was thin; the peas could have been elevated, especially considering the $20 price tag; portion size was okay. Room for improvement, 4/10 Poutine, nope ... roundly rejected and sent back to the kitchen, possessed only a passing similarity to Poutine and wasn't at all pleasant. The gravy was puzzling. Not good, 1/10 Ploughman's Salad: I'm guessing this is a spin on the Ploughmans' lunch. Unfortunately, it didn't possess any ingredients that make a Ploughman's great, no Picalilli! Essentially, just a Cobb Salad ... we passed. Bangers and Mash, the sausage was okay, definitely not house-made. Again, it seemed wet rather than moist, but that could all be down to the pitiful attempt at the gravy, which, instead of being a rich, hearty, thick, unctuous gravy full of sauteed onions, heavily reduced stock and made with love, was a thin insipid broth with super finely-sliced boiled onions. Tatters were okay. Sad, ruined by the "gravy", 3/10. Chicken Tikka Masala: Probably the best of the "British" food, it was a little simple, served on a bed of watery Basmati rice, reminiscent of a Waitrose (UK's version of Whole Foods but Posher) frozen meal for one that you heat up in a microwave at home. Complexity was lacking; no Naan, Poppadum, chutney, pickles, or Raita, etc. Okay, 6/10. The Cottage Pie was poor; besides getting the name correct for the corresponding ingredients, it barely resembled one. Thin, watery meat with no real gravy of substance, and a very small portion size for $25. Not good, 2/10. The Burger was acceptable, a little dry and safe to be honest. Okay, 5/10. Beer/Cocktails/Wine: They serve Imperial pints, great! BUT they are $10-11; I know there's inflation, and it's a touristy area, but that seems a tad excessive. Especially as they have only one, yes, one British beer on tap, Fullers ESB. Why not have London Pride, Old Speckled Hen, Bellhaven ... etc.? Many local breweries are doing British-style beers other than just Jack Rabbit. Props for having Brit-friendly 1664, Harp, and Guinness, but the selection could be better; it's spendy, and without a real ale program, somewhat disappointing. What we had of the Cocktail program was good, but as a British Pub it should focus way more heavily on Gin. Wine menus were okay, you'll find something you like but for a British pub really lacking on the French side, not a Claret to be had. No Bolly or Tatty darling, and no English Sparklers at all ... Gusbourne HAS to be mandatory. Experience: Aside from the food and the disappointing beer selection, we had a good time. Still, when you put eight English folks together and supply beer, it will inevitably end up a good time. I wish them well; I do. Double-down on the British theme as it feels like something other than a British pub. Improve the beer selection and look seriously at real ale. Bringing on the Gin's big time and curate a much deeper French wine selection. More than anything, the food needs help. Get an English/British Food Professional to help with the menu, make it honest and moreover authentic, and look into more classic British dishes beyond the stereotypical fare. Ultimately, the Bear & Crown is "British" in name only, and--sadly--was a bit of a disappointment, 4/10. read more

We recently visited this family-friendly British pub and restaurant with a large group, and while the atmosphere was warm and inviting, the overall experience was a bit of a mixed bag. The staff were very accommodating with our large party, helping to arrange seating and making sure everyone was comfortable--including the kids. The cozy, classic pub décor and friendly vibe made it a great spot for families and groups looking to relax and catch up. However, the service was noticeably slow. While we understood that serving a large table can take time, the long wait for drinks and food left several in our group frustrated, especially with young kids getting restless. It felt more like standard bar fare than memorable comfort food. Greeted as we walked in and seated quickly. The ambiance was great, cozy seating and music I love playing in background. Waters all around with drink orders followed behind. I am a clean freak and the restaurant and restroom surpassed my expectations. We all ordered cocktails which were yummy. I recommend The Fleming. My husband recommends the London Boy. We devoured the appetizer, Poutine, steak fries, cheese curds in gravy. You gotta try it! My husband and I enjoyed our Fish & Chips and Mom her Lamb Loin. All was wonderful, flaky fish and Lamb cooked to perfection! The service was top notch! Brandon was attentive to our needs and made our visit easy and enjoyable. The restaurant is lucky to have him. Shia and Samantha stopped by for a quick hello to ensure all of our needs were met. This was our first visit and not the last! Highly recommended! FIVE + STARS! Recently visited Bear & Crown in Sacramento and was delighted by the British ambiance and cuisine. The decor successfully captures a cozy British vibe, making the dining experience quite enjoyable. We tried the beet salad, Vinny blue cheese burger, and the sticky toffee pudding. Each dish was well-prepared and flavorful, truly reflecting the essence of British cuisine. While the food was good, it didn't completely blow me away, but it was still a satisfying meal. One of the highlights was the back area of the restaurant. It's a lovely space with a warm, inviting fire pit - perfect for a relaxed evening. I'm looking forward to coming back to try more of their offerings. This place is awesome, coolest patio in Old Sac, possibly even all of Sac. I've been a few times and I can tell the menu has definitely had an upgrade in the past few months. Our group started at the bar, and moved over to a big table, the staff was super accommodating! Will be making this my first and last stop when attending the arenas!
