The main reason I am giving 4 stars is that I made a reservation for this restaurant at 1pm for 2 people and we showed up on time. The host told us that the waiters were cleaning up the tables and that we would be seated shortly. I probably saw about 3 or 4 parties that showed up after us that got seated before we did and we had to check with the hostess again about 15-20 minutes after our reservation time to see if our table was ready. She seemed embarrassed like she had forgotten about us and quickly sat us as soon as we checked in with her the second time. Once we were sat, we ordered iced lattes and chimichurri steak and eggs for brunch. The food was great. Steak and eggs were cooked well. The coffee was delicious. I ordered a mango orange and pineapple juice that had a weird taste to it. I took a couple sips and didn't finish it. Overall the food was good and the server was nice. No complaints.
Always my favorite be it the coffee bakery part or the market place! I can't wait to go there again ! The dining area is very elite. The market area is cozy . The coffee bar is quaint! I like the angel food cake muffin . I alternate going there or at least pick up a bakery item when I have doctor appointments at NW
I love it here!! Truly the best gluten free bread I have ever tasted. I asked our server if I should get the gf hot honey fried chicken sandwich or the chimichurri steak and eggs and he said hands down as a gf person get the sandwich because they have a great bun here. He did not lie!! Best bun ever! Does not taste gluten free even though from the look of it, it looks dry and disgusting. It was perfect, it did not crumble and was buttery goodness! Best gf sandwich I've ever had Next time I visit Chicago I will be back!
What a busy place for a Sunday brunch! They're clearly doing something right here, since every table was filled and there was a constant flow of in and out traffic. Our server was very kind and, while it was busy, you never felt like you were forgotten about, though our food did take a little longer than I would've expected, but I chalk that up to the fact they were so busy. The meal itself was great! I ordered their Ranchero Breakfast Burrito, which is a decent size and is relatively "healthier" for a breakfast burrito. It comes with eggs, a little cheese, poblano peppers, black beans, sweet corn, and quinoa. I loved the salsa that comes with the burrito and, while they didn't give me a choice for a side with breakfast, the pineapple covered in tajin was a great and unique twist! I would recommend this place if you haven't been, and I'd certainly stop back when I'm in Chicago next!
I went to Beatrix for brunch and had a great time! Right away the ambiance was super lively, and you could tell this was the place to go for a Sunday brunch. It We had a reservation and got seated right away, which was nice (recommend making reservations if you can) I wanted an omelette, but it wasn't on the menu besides an egg white omelette. The server was helpful and still made it work for me. The omelette was really good. I recommend adding onions, they made it taste a little sweet!! My meal also came with hash browns, toast, and bacon which were also very tasty!! Overall, it was a solid brunch spot and I would go back.
Had a great experience at Beatrix. Came on a Saturday morning around 9am and there was no wait. The place is a pretty good size inside. Service was perfect. They offer a seperate gluten free menu, which is quite large. I tried the Gluten Free bacon, egg, cheese breakfast sandwich with a side of hashbrowns. My husband got the same sandwich but the non gluten free version and added sausage and side of pancakes. Everything was fresh and flavorful. The hashbrowns were nice and crispy, which I prefer. The gluten free bun was better quality than other places I have tried. I will be back to try more options in the future!
What a cute place for a quick lunch! Gus was my server and couldn't have been any better! Quick with my order and delivering my Prime Cheeseburger and fries. I'm in from Phoenix to attend a conference. This is my 5th and final day. I was tired of sitting at bars and eating. They sat me in a great spot and made me feel welcomed. I can tell they have a great following! If she's there please ask for Gus! She'll take great care of you!
Love Beatrix, everything from the restaurant, the market to the coffee cafe. The restaurant has a casual and intimate ambulance. The service is always great. My favorite meal at the restaurant is the ham and Swiss croissant with the side salad. It's delicious and love the sauce with it. For the market you can choose from so many choices and there is something for everyone. I love the cookies and angel food muffins at the coffee cafe .
Enjoyed a celebratory dinner at Beatrix - the restaurant has an elegant modern and earthy feel to it. While it seems to be more known for brunch, the dinner was incredible. I split the spicy rigatoni and green goddess salad with a friend which were delish. My favorite of all the dishes I tasted was the hot honey Brussels, so much flavor goodness, sweet, umami and spicy. I ordered the pour obsession drink which was nice and had a strong grapefruit flavor. Everyone absolutely loved the whipped feta, I thought it would be even better with some spicy oil or sauces to add extra flavor. The chocolate cake for dessert was amazing - very decadent and rich! We were seated quickly and service was great.
This might be one of those places you'd overlook unless a local tipped you off to it. From the outside, you'd probably walk by it. Inside it's trendy but unpretentious. Beatrix lets its food speak for itself and it does. In fact, we came here three separate times for dinner, brunch, and lunch. For dinner, the French onion short ribs were incredible. The meat was tender and extremely tasty. The Korean Fried Short Ribs were crispy, and not too spicy. It also came with a nice dipping sauce and side of cabbage. Even though it was dinner time, we were advised the Hazelnut Oat Mocha was excellent and it was (ordered it every time we came). For lunch, I opted for a wild mushroom teriyaki bowl and it was tasty, with a touch of sweet. A friend got the enchiladas and raved about that too. The variety of menu items was thoughtful. The consistent high quality ingredients were impressive. And the presentation was Instagram worthy. The service is good. You can easily split a bill using the table's QR code. There's a small bakery inside for people to grab and go. Teas and coffees are also available for takeout. Reservations strongly recommended because they were always busy. I recommend going and will be coming back!
We came for brunch and were very glad we had a reservation because it was extremely busy. Check-in and seating took a few minutes, which was understandable. Once seated, we ordered quickly and the food came out at a normal pace. The ambiance was really nice, cozy vibes with nice background music. The food and drinks were amazing. The almond milk cappuccino was excellent, the strawberry mimosa was delicious, and the lemon pancake was fluffy and perfect to share. The chimichurri steak and eggs were fantastic, and the bacon and eggs were great -- the bacon especially. Unfortunately, after our food was dropped, our server never came back to check on us. No follow-up, no drink refill requests, nothing -- we eventually had to get up and find him just to pay and leave. I saw him taking orders at nearby tables without stopping by ours. Our table was awkwardly placed in a corner near the waiting area, which may have contributed. He was very nice when we did interact with him, and it was very busy. Overall very delicious and glad we came!!
Just wrapped up a wonderful Rosh Hashanah dinner from Beatrix! I cannot praise this restaurant enough. My husband is at Northwestern Medicine for the next month, but we wanted to celebrate Rosh Hashanah with a nice dinner. After a quick check on Yelp (where else), I discovered that Beatrix Streeterville was offering a Rosh Hashanah dinner package. Dinner was ordered, and we were set. The day after I placed the order, I realized that the dinner was probably going to need to be reheated. Since we were planning on eating in the hospital room, that was not going to work. We placed a call to the restaurant and were lucky to talk to Kellie...the floor manager. She checked with the kitchen, and confirmed that they would be able to have the dinner heated when I picked it up. And indeed, when I arrived this evening, she had the cold items in a separate bag, and the hot items were ready a few minutes after my arrival. Kellie and the rest of the staff could not have been nicer or more accommodating. Dinner was plentiful and wonderful...and everything was hot or cold as it should be. We had apples with honey, matzoh ball soup, chopped liver, fresh challah bread, gefilte fish with red horseradish, latkes, brisket (really, really good and moist), roasted chicken, flourless chocolate cake, and lemon cake. It was truly a delicious feast. Of course, because I ordered carry-out, I did not eat in the restaurant, but the dining room is casually elegant. And as I was walking out of the restaurant, I discovered their coffee and bakery bar that is hidden just beyond Beatrix Market. It looks wonderful, and the gentleman running the bar, was friendly and welcoming. You would not think that a restaurant attached to a hospital would be very good...but Beatrix Streeterville is truly an exception. I am a big fan of Lettuce Entertain You restaurants, and my experience at this Beatrix is one of the reasons why. read more

Beatrix has a cool and cozy vibe. My co-worker found this spot and we both really enjoyed the atmosphere and food. Our waitress was prompt and friendly. When we walked in we were greeted with a delightful, not overpowering, baked almond scent- think almond croissants baking somewhere in the kitchen. There was a bit of a wait, the dining room is a bit small, but we found a place with comfy seats and before we knew it we were being seated. We came for dinner but I would definitely go back for pastries and a beverage. We shared the Shaved Brussel Sprout salad which they plated separately for us and it was a huge portion! The dressing had a light taste and complimented the other ingredients perfectly. You could tell the bits of cheddar were high quality. Each ingredient was fresh and delicious, and there was a nice ratio happening. For my meal I ordered the Chicken Bebe, so savory and comforting! It tasted like a homemade meal in the best possible way, which I really appreciate when working out of state. Overall a great way to end the first day of our Chicago trip. read more

We came here for lunch after an appt at NW. We ordered the ham and cheese croissant which was good. The arugula salad had a spicy red pepper in them. We also ordered the A salad. It only had 2 small pieces of avocado and a few slivers of Asian pearls. Not worth the money they charge. Service was okay. read more

Made a reservation for 2 on a Friday night snd arrived to a half-full house. Super romantic ambiance with dim lighting and everyone using their "inside" voices. Waiter was prompt and friendly and all their staff have that modern chic but very professional kind of vibe, totally matching with the rest of the ambiance. Surprised to see audiences of all ages - families and their kids, older couples, girls night out, after-work coworker groups. We ordered the ceviche to start which was a little underwhelming - didn't feel very ceviche and felt more like jus a lot of shrimp with these funky plantain chips on the side. Perhaps it's just the 'American' interpretation of a simple dish. But the bumpy start was made up with the mind blowing entrees we had next. While the fish tacos were near perfection - beautifully marinated and lightly charred, complete with guacamole, toppings, and their special sauce - it was the enchilada that was absolutely stole the show. The flavor was so complex and different than a typical enchilada yet still managed to carry that authenticity of it being a Spanish dish - truly an 'American' cuisine novelty. It was wonderfully cheesy yet still light on the palate. Paired with their salsa and sour cream will have you shoveling down even more. tldr; upscale romantic boutique restaurant that's slightly overpriced for its own good that makes up everything in their enchilada. We really enjoyed this cafe. We ordered a cappuccino and it was delicious. They have a small coffee bar and pastries at the front and a full restaurant attached. We ordered the lemon pancakes and egg breakfast. The pancakes were soufflé style and were so good with a lemon syrup. So good. Eggs, hash browns and honey bacon were also delicious. Our server was very welcoming and made some great suggestions. We really enjoyed our meal and the patio. Enjoy! read more
We enjoyed lunch at Beatrix while in town for a concert recently. The Hot Honey Fried Chicken Sandwich was the winner - hot honey sauce, kale and apple slaw, lemon aioli, and a soft brioche bun. Loved it. The beautiful Ahi Tuna Poke Bowl had avocado, cashew granola, pickled mushroom, bamboo rice, and ginger soy. So good! We tried the refreshing Power Greens juice, a blend of kale, romaine, celery, pineapple, and mint. The kids opted for classic choices: steak and eggs and a Caesar salad with chicken. Solid picks. We sat near the open doors and loved the overall vibe and we will definitely be back when we're in town. read more

Trendy American restaurant primarily focused on brunch but also offering a pretty good dinner experience. I came for dinner and ordered the Prime Burger ($17), which was pretty standard with cheese (I chose havarti), tomato, and lettuce. The bun was pretty soft, though the patty was cooked a bit more than my requested level of medium. The fries were very standard. The place itself is quite nice with modern decor and lighting fixtures. The furniture/decor of the interior looks almost like a West Elm furniture store. The slightly dimmed lighting for dinner created more of an intimate atmosphere. The environment was lively yet not too noisy for comfortable conversation. There was a decent amount of people dining in, but there were still some empty tables available on a Saturday night. As mentioned, this seems like more of a brunch spot (there is also a little bakery area next to the bar), but the dinner options were still pretty good. Our waitress was friendly, though it did take them a while just to bring me an extra container of ketchup. The service speed was otherwise fine. Overall, I think the experience is probably a bit better for brunch, but from my perspective as a dinner customer, I still had a pretty good time. read more
Stopped by one of my favorite restaurants in Streeterville this afternoon. I placed an order to bring home... 2 desserts to share. (Nope not just for me.) I do need to say that I'm not a huge dessert gal, but once in a while it's okay. So. If you love sweets, you may LOVE these 2 tree nut-free and sesame seed-free lovlies. Generous portions. First up, Oh My! Caramel Pie. I took a few bites, but that was all I could handle. It's texture dense and smooth. The taste is very good and extremely caramel-y (they named it correctly). We both enjoyed the flavor, but I could only handle 2 bites max. Too much sugar for me. Would I get this again? Yes, but with the knowledge of sharing again or the remainder in a to-go box!! The Tall Dark and Handsome Chocolate Cake was moist, chocolatey and sweet, but not as much as the pie. That was our opinion. Again, I took only a fork full and that was enough. We put it in the fridge for tonight. Service was so friendly. They even have a spiral binder to show me the ingredients to be sure no anaphylaxis reactions. (Sucks being anaphylactic, but Beatrix ALWAYS handles them like a champ!! I always feel safe eating here.) They were not overly crowded, but per the norm, it was very clean. I really love the atmosphere here. So, we both enjoyed the desserts, but since I'm not a true sugar addict, it was too much of a slice of pie for just me alone. read more

Bea's Market inside Beatrix Restaurant is so handy and very much appreciated. Located in the Galter Building of the Northwestern Hospital complex. On this occasion, I had a morning doctor appointment before heading to work. So I was able to hit the salad bar to create my own salad for lunch later in the day. Everything was fresh and the salad bar looked clean. On previous occasions and on this day as well, I encountered a staff member at the check out lane that was less than enthusiastic to be working. Each question was met with a monotone grumble of an answer. Not a pleasant experience. The price point is high but fitting for its location. I would return if at the Galter building and needed a quick lunch to go. But please cheer the staff up! read more
I came here for happy hour in a Friday and enjoyed the food overall. The whipped ricotta was great and it came with these really interesting chips. The Brussels sprouts were also great. I liked the meatballs but they were borderline cold. While eating them I thought that they didn't spend enough time defrosting and cooking them but tasty and good presentation. read more
Beatrix is connected to Northwestern medical center in downtown Chicago. They have two separate entrances one inside the hospital and the other on the street. They offer coffee and other pastries as well as hot food cafeteria style. We saw many hospital workers take advantage of this. If you are a hospital employee this must be a great perk of working there. We got their banana bread and a latte. Both fantastic and a great treat to start the day. There is also a bar area that is open real early for the night shift workers at the hospital. Great coffee spot, clean interior, and great service. read more

It's a nice establishment with kind service. The food however, I wouldn't recommend what I chose. The Faroe Islands Salmon Bowl was just okay, but I was not a fan of the Blackened Fish Tacos. If you like zest, I would recommend the Kennebec Fries. read more
Had brunch there on Sunday. I sat at the bar and got the Shakshouka (served with pita bread). The poached egg and the pita were perfect. The egg yolk was runny and tasted sweet, the egg white was mouth-melting, and the pita was warm, airy and kinda chwey. However, the kale in this dish was way too salty. Plus, it would be better if the tomato sauce could be mixed with the kale. So in general, the food was just ordinary. Fortunately, service was pretty quick. The restaurant seemed popular so if you like some loud space this is one you should go for. Finally, the restaurant was not very clean -- there was water stains and leftovers on the bar table. read more

Beatrix was an amazing lunch spot! Unfortunately we missed breakfast by an hour but definitely going to go back! Great space, delicious drinks, and yummy food! I ordered their chicken sandwich which had Cole slaw in it (and I dislike Cole slaw so much) but it was all delicious! Definitely going to go back for breakfast one day!!! A+ read more

I tried the wild mushroom teriyaki bowl and per the recommendation of our server, I added chicken on it. This was such a satisfying, tasty, healthy, wonderful meal. It was the perfect ratio of greens to rice to protein. The greens in the bowl tasted super fresh and the mushrooms in the bowl were large and delicious. The chicken itself was so juicy and slightly smoky. It had the right tenderness and great flavor. The rice was a bit soft and quite delicious. There was some sauce over all of it which tied everything together quite well. I cannot wait to eat this again and am looking forward to it. After taxes and tip, the plate cost about $25. I judge more expensive meals more harshly, and this one was worth it. Our server was also quite friendly. The atmosphere was warm with dim mood lighting. The facility seemed to have been built or renovated quite recently. read more

Started with a Cinnamon Apple Matcha and our great server recommended the avocado toast. As a avo toast lover I highly recommend. Very savory and add the egg! Great breakfast spot to get a upscale ambiance with great coffee shop vibes. A fun spot for brunch located located right by Magnificent Mile -- it's a popular spot with a long wait, so would recommend making a reservation or stopping by when you're willing to put your name down and explore the area! They were willing to accommodate our larger party of 8, with a wait time of about ~45 min -- we just put our name down early and popped into the stores, so it wasn't bad at all. The restaurant has a cozy vibe and the servers were very sweet. The food came out fairly quickly and it was DELISH! I got the Migas, and the eggs were so flavorful and the salsa was SO. GOOD. It was a fairly unassuming dish but really packed a punch -- my friend got a chia seed pudding which was also really great! Overall, yummy food and good vibes if you made a reservation or are not in a rush! read more

The hot honey chicken sandwich was good, but not great. Pretty average for a chicken sandwich. The chicken was a tad overcooked, but the slaw went well if you like an acidic slaw. The fries were good, and hot, but could have used a bit more seasoning. Would return to try a few other things. read more

We visited Beatrix for brunch and we are obsessed! I got the yogurt bowl, scrambled eggs, and the chicken sausage which was cooked perfectly! We also got the avocado toast which is truly unique, the flavors are insane. We added the tuna which was worth the extra cost! The vibes are very cute inside and the service was great! We had a long day planned and were able to be in and out in an hour. Perfect brunch spot. We will be back! read more
