3.5 stars. This place is always busy - the vibe is nice, modern and bright, and the food is good. The food is worth at least 4 stars probably - the enlightened Caesar is fantastic and a huge portion, made with Greek yogurt rather than creamy dressing and it is delicious. I like that there are plenty of coffee and fresh juice options. The reason I'm only giving this 3/3.5 stars is the extremely cramped seating, and slow service. I made a weekday reservation for a business meal, party of 6. I did specify that this would be a business meal. The seating is such that there are small round tables for parties of 4 or 5, and then for larger parties they take a long rectangular table and put a little divider in the middle. So they squeezed 6 of us into half a long table, and the divider was placed such that the two guests near the middle of the table would have the divider right in front of them - basically, you can't fit six people on just one half of this table! On the other side of the divider, a party of 2 enjoyed their spacious setting, with lots of extra space and chairs . Luckily, that party left fairly soon after we had ordered our drinks and we were able to expand our own seating area. Still, seating is pretty cramped all around, and getting out of your seat to get to the restroom for example requires some furniture finagling and gymnast-level flexibility. Service was friendly enough but slow. I get that they were busy, but it took forever to order our drinks, and then our meals. read more

Stopped here during Chicago's Restaurant Week. I ordered the Lunch special and started with the sticky cauliflower, which was a complex combo of flavors & textures. It was good but maybe too many flavors for me. The entree I elected was the Ginger Soy Chicken & Kale salad. That was delicious with a huge portion, lots of chicken and accented by pomegranate arils. Amazing restaurant. I am upset I didn't take a pictures. The service was exceptional and I will always revisit. The food was freshly made and tasted great. Their menu is very diverse in which anyone going there can get something to eat. I had the green juice as a beverage and it was extremely fresh. The entrée that I had although I can't remember the name was nachos but with eggs scrambled beans, cheese, tomatoes it was a very different type of breakfast or brunch meal but extremely tasty and very filling. This review is for their coffee bar. I wish I knew the barista's name to give her a personal shout out. I went in and asked for a London Fog. I said I like it sweet and she recommended adding lavender syrup. Yum! Then during the process of making it, I asked if they could make it iced. (Oops, I didn't mean to be THAT person...and I would have been totally fine if the couldn't). She got creative and made the most delicious iced London Fog on the fly and was genuinely friendly about it. We literally had to flag down our server for every single small thing. The coffee service was a mess--despite explicitly requesting my coffee after the meal, it was brought out beforehand. On top of that, our cups were never refilled; we had to actively track someone down and ask each and every time we wanted more. ​To make matters worse, when the bill arrived, it was filled with errors, including multiple items we had either canceled or never ordered in the first place. When we tried to get it fixed, our server was nowhere to be found, forcing us to get a manager involved just to sort out the check. ​Between the lack of basic hospitality and the sloppy billing, it ended up being an expensive and incredibly frustrating experience. Was visiting Chicago the week of New Year's 2025 and brought a friend here for brunch. I remember when Beatrix opened to rave reviews (I used to live in Chicago) and til this day they are pumping out great food with great service. We had brunch here and it was great. Nice American food menu with a casual elevated dining room. Staff is very professional, friendly and attentive. We ordered cocktails which were very good. I had the hot honey fried chicken sandwich with fries and my friend had the ham and cheese croissant with an arugula salad. We enjoyed our service and food here. Definitely come here if you want a solid food in a nice atmosphere to people watch and catch up with friends or that special someone. read more

I have had nothing but great experiences with various Beatrix locations, and this one was no exception! Beatrix Streeterville catered a group event recently, and all of the options looked delicious! The food arrived piping hot, and included breakfast burritos alongside a traditional fare of french toast, brown sugar maple bacon, and spicy yukon potatoes. The quality proved to be far from standard, however! I was so impressed by how fresh and flavorful all of the ingredients were, with great execution on preparation. The french toast had a crunchy exterior reminiscent of creme brulee with a perfectly hot and fluffy interior, and it was so delicious that it didn't need syrup! The bacon was exceptionally crispy with a perfect balance of sweet and salty thanks to the caramelized brown sugar coating. I typically prefer crispy-style potatoes, but these were perfectly spiced and had an exceptionally full-bodied, fresh flavor that left a super satisfying taste in the mouth. I saved a roasted pepper & feta breakfast burrito for later- it heated up well and was outstanding! The eggs were light and fluffy with a perfect crunch from the peppers and creaminess from the feta, all surrounded by a homemade flour tortilla. Yum! I would recommend Beatrix to anyone, and am already looking forward to trying more of their menu! read more

Food was solid and filling overall but the experience had mixed results. We started with the spicy habanero cocktail which was really yummy. Great contrast of sweet with a subtle heat that made it refreshing and balanced. The chilaquiles were a win. Very comforting, well layered, and not too saucy so the chips held their crunch. Toppings were on point and I would definitely order it again. We also ordered the lemon blackberry pancakes. Our server gave us a heads up that they were not traditional and had more of a soufflé texture. I was expecting something in the style of a Japanese cheesecake and was actually excited to try them. But when they arrived, they were razor thin and super egg heavy. Honestly, they reminded me of some anabolic protein pancakes I make when I'm dieting. I was lowkey disgusted and kindly asked to have it removed from the tab. It came with a clear "syrup" that was not maple. Maybe a lemon simple syrup? Still no idea to this day what it was. The hash browns had great texture but were completely unseasoned. The black pepper brown sugar bacon had no crisp at all, was tough to chew, and lacked both the pepper and sweetness it promised. The sandwich had minimal flavor and the hamburger bun just didn't seem to work with it. "There's lights under the bar!" That's when you say when the old fashioneds are really good and you order two because they're only $7 at happy hour. All the reviews made me think of Beatrix as just a breakfast place, but this place has a terrific happy hour. It's not too loud. The apps and drinks are fine. The bartenders are very good at their jobs, and the atmosphere is about as good as you could hope for in an actual Northwestern Hospital building. We were thinking how many people are coming here to drink after bad medical news. It would be a pretty good choice. Recommend the whipped feta appetizer. Not sure if we'll come back for dinner, but it's a great stop for anyone who works in the area, and a nice option for visitors who want to escape the madness and mediocre offerings on Michigan Avenue. read more

Met a friend after many, many years for brunch at Beatrix. I personally got the enchiladas which were absolutely delicious, and I'm not normally a fan of enchiladas. We ended up staying at the restaurant for about 4 hours, just catching up as it had been so long, and we were visiting for a short time. The staff was great, did not try to rush us out, and we had a very nice time. The ambiance was also beautiful; I would come back here again. read more

After being seated, my friend ordered their smaller plates of fries, buffalo chicken meatballs, brussels sprouts, and I ordered the Asian chicken salad. Our food came out pretty quickly, and I will say everything was really tasty! My favorite was the buffalo chicken meatballs and will have to recreate that at home one day. The asian chicken kale salad was just okay though, I expected a little bit more and it felt like a slaw. Beatrix is a consistently great choice! I have gotten food here on multiple occasions: from the coffee bar, the hot bar, and takeout. But this was my first time dining in. Every time I have enjoyed the food and had pleasant interactions with the staff. This time I tried the mushroom and quinoa burger. It had great flavor and crisp, but my one complaint is that it was pretty greasy for a plant-based 'healthy' option. My friend liked her hot honey friend chicken sandwich, but didn't love the sauce, and we both enjoyed the fresh fries! Our server was patient and timely. Wonderful spot that was recommended by a friend that lives in the city. We stopped here after a cold and blustery day shopping in the Mag Mile area of downtown Chicago. Our server was friendly and hit that perfect mix of making sure we were taken care of, but not hovering over our table. The food was excellent. This place has a few (bea)TRIXs up it's sleeve. Located in Streeterville near the Northwestern hospital, with both indoor and outdoor seating this place has great ambience and decor. We opted to sit outside and were very grateful for large umbrellas. This place serves all day brunch, dinner, and late night so you won't have trouble finding time or availability. We came here for brunch and they have expanded the menu with a ton of interesting options. I went with the cold brew overnight oats which had a ton of flavor from the cold brew and vanilla cream. I wish they gave me more caramelized banana (it was only half) as it was the perfect sweetness to balance out the coffee. I also had a iced latte which was equally good. The servers were awesome and very attentive. My one huge knock on this place is that we went at 8:30am when they opened and you could tell the bathrooms had not been cleaned overnight. This place becomes a bar and it looked like a bar bathroom (toilet paper on the floor, no soap in the dispenser, overflowing trash can). I would maybe come back for the food, but I was really turned off by the bathrooms. Overall, it's not a bad option if you're in the area but considering this is Chicago and there are great options available I don't think I'd go back. read more

Location is good if you're on the hospital campus, staying at a nearby hotel, or wandering north Michigan, but otherwise it's not terribly convenient. There's a couple parking garages here for the hospital but I'm not sure it'd be worth paying for parking solely to eat here. I also don't know if they validate parking. I got a breakfast sandwich here after an appointment. It was ok, but overpriced. They use a brioche bun which is ok but not my style exactly. The eggs are souffled so if you don't like that style of cooking skip this one. I took it to go and it traveled well. In a pinch, it was worth a stop. But I won't come back again. There's a sign near the host station (to the left of it, where it might not be as easily seen) stating that stepping foot on the premises is your consent to be photographed and for the restaurant to exploit your image to their heart's content without further consent or compensation. Excuse me? The hell it is. There are many many reasons someone may wish to limit use of their image, and I am in that camp. So if they're saying they can take photos of me and use them wherever they want, it's not a place I'm ever returning. read more

Dissapointed by brunch at Beatrix. I was excited to order the Coconut Chia Pudding... only to find out it was made with regular milk, not coconut . Since I am dairy-free I had to pivot, and went with the Eggs Your Way breakfast. Nothing wrong with it, just nothing special. The Bacon and Egg sandwich was also underwhelming. The egg on it reminded me of a McDonald's egg...not fried, but cooked in a shaped container. Personally, I would've also liked a side to come with this dish, rather than just the sandwich.
