Super small steak with quite literally - a measuring cup of broken fries - maybe a few of them were full sized.... The croque sando as well as rock corn were delicious and perfectly executed along with the pasta being cooked el dente. But before I could enjoy the sauce and some of the actual meat - the servers whipped away the plate... The umami Caesar salad was decent - although the lettuce served was not very fresh with some of the edges being dried out and wilted... wish I could have gotten a better piece of fresh produce. Was really disappointed that they didn't have the famous chocolate bar that was all over social media. Since it wasn't available this week, we opted for the other desserts - the carrot cake and the chocolate soufflé. Honestly was extremely disappointed in those desserts. Not sure if the carrot cake is made in house, but the carrot cake was too dense, too sickeningly sweet (felt like store bought frosting level of artificial sweetness), and the chocolate soufflé was just average. I've had better soufflé at Cafe Chelsea and Madre. It was really a hard waste of $50 for these desserts that I didn't want to finish and just couldn't force myself to.... After spending easily almost $300, I expected to thoroughly enjoy all my food - both before servers took away the plates too fast of the little portions that were served - and of the below average desserts that could use a serious improvement in recipe... Not sure I recommend or return. NYC has many, many, many restaurants that offer fierce competition for the same price point or even a lower price point. Beefbar definitely lived up to the hype. The ribeye was juicy and perfectly cooked. The jalapeño mashed potatoes were creamy with just the right kick. The Brussels sprouts were super crispy and had a nice tang from the vinegar glaze. The crispy rice with tuna had the best texture. It was crunchy on the bottom with fresh, flavorful tuna. And the bao bun was soft, flavorful, and delicious. The vibe was amazing--elevated but not stuffy. The music was such a great too. It was a mix of Afro house, a little Afrobeats, and other genres that gave the space great energy without being too loud. Definitely not your typical fine dining playlist, in the best way. Unfortunately this was a terrible dining experience. We made a Sunday night reservation and we were excited about the atmosphere which is beautiful. However the service was some of the worst we have had in the city. The bartender in the back room was our server and had an attitude from the start. We waited 30 minutes for our non-alcoholic drinks and when we kindly asked about them he said he had already sent it out? Our entrees arrived 5 minutes after we received our appetizers (he fired everything at the same time) and there was no space on the table for all of the dishes. They suggested we give them the app plates so they could have space on the table So we were not able to enjoy the appetizers. Totally rushing our entire meal. Beefbar is worth the hype and I can't believe it's not much more popular here in NYC. I know it has other locations worldwide, but I'm happy I got to spend my 15 year/1 year married anniversary here with my husband (but funny enough, they gave us a birthday dessert lol) I already planned what we were going to get from all the research I had done on this menu. Everything was a 100/100. Croque sando, I expected nothing less; it was absolutely amazing. From presentation of the pour of the sauce to the last bite. But the rock corn? Almost stole the show. You'd think it's like a shrimp tempura and by the time you finish chewing, you're reminded it's corn lol. Very delicious. Apps I *need* next time: the Japanese milk bread and the quesadillas, which I hear the greatest things about. I'm super satisfied with the steak. It was so good. And the pasta. Yum. We were four women and ordered a number of things to share, including: QUESADILLAS, GYOZA, ROCK CORN, FILET-FRITES & BEEFBAR SAUCE, CRAB TACOS, SHISHITO PEPPERS, JALAPENO MASHED POTATOES and a FILET MIGNON. All of the food was great, but the quesadillas, gyoza and filet-frites were my favorite. I love the vibe of the restaurant and their emoji plates. Went to BeefBar to catch up with some friends and all I can say is that this place is absolutely amazing. The inside is beautiful wherever you sit. The waitstaff is impeccable. They are flawless at keeping the table clean and clear as orders come out at what seems to be perfectly timed. The menu does need some explaining and out waiter was very willing, very knowledgeable, helpful and friendly. The drinks looked fantastic and tasted great. I'm not a fan of big ice cube blocks in my drinks but other than that the drinks were great. The food was AMAZING. There were four of us and we all order the boneless prime rib. It did not disappoint, it was so good that we all finished our steak. We moved on to dessert and shared the chocolate soufflé with vanilla ice cream topping. This too was fantastic. If you go here definitely order the Bao Buns and chocolate soufflé, the presentation alone is worth it. I highly highly recommend BeefBar, it just might be best restaurant in NYC. read more

Went here on a Wednesday night to celebrate a friend's birthday. The restaurant itself is beautiful, dimly lit, and an overall great vibe. It is generally pretty loud and the tables in the front area are very close together. I prefer the back area by the bar which had live music but our table was closer to the entrance. Service was fantastic- our server helped us picked dishes and was generally attentive and kind. Now for the food. Overall, we enjoyed the meal but for the price I'm not sure if it was worth it. We shared all the dishes with 2 drinks each and it came out to $520 for two. The surf & turf tartare for $47 was a major miss (0/5). The caviar and uni was blended into the tartare so you couldn't even taste these components. I would have much preferred if they layered them on top of steak tartare. The crispy rice was alright (3/5) - the fish itself was fresh however the rice was a bit overly crispy. The croque sando was great (5/5) - the meat was nice and bread was soft with a perfect addition of sauce. We shared the boneless ribeye which for $115 was another major miss (2/5). There was a lot of fatty pieces and the steak was not cooked evenly- one side was medium rare whilst the other side was well done. The sides were amazing (5/5) - creamed cauliflower and truffle mashed potatoes are a must try. The mashed potatoes were out of this world; we ended up dipping the steak into the mashed potatoes and it was perfect. We ended the meal with the marbled chocolate bar $45. It was fantastic but the price seems absolutely outrageous for a chocolate bar cake. Ordered a strip medium-rare (usually I go rare but companion wasn't so keen) and was genuinely one of the most tasteless steaks I've ever eaten. You would get more flavor from a stop & shop prepackaged cut. Run, don't walk to Beefbar! Reserve a table early and often! I brought two of my clients turned friends here, and we had the time of our lives. We felt very welcome and comfortable. And the food -- ohhh the food! It was incredible and unique and everything you want in a fancy steakhouse. And, I'm not a steak-eater, so the fact I love this place says a WHOLE LOT. First of all -- even the free dish of Bangladeshi style crackers -- I think called Nimki -- were fabulous. It was such a great way to kick off the night. And the mocktails -- we all had a mocktail and we couldn't decide who had the best one. I think I did... the Can't Hurt with Cantalope juice in it. Next time, I'll likely go for a cocktail, but it was a healthier week and I thought I'd take advantage of the option. As far as food, we had the quesadilla with Braised Wagyu beef and truffle -- and HELLO!! ... YUM! The Rock Corn was totally addictive. I think I ate half of it and I'm a tiny little thing. And I had the miso spinach salad as a meal, and I ate every morsel of it. Which is not usually something I do. But damnnnn was that tasty. Thought we'd get started with a Croque Sando, Beefy Cordon Bleu, medium rare New York Strip, Parm Truffle Fries, Creamed Cauliflower paired with the Kampot Peppercorn sauce. The dishes were well coordinated and were served together with the exception of the Sando - all on hot plates, another nice touch. I couldn't name a favorite if I tried and would return for each individual dish on future visits. I will say the Creamed Cauliflower wasn't what I imagined (please look at photos) but was delicious all the same. We rounded off the meal with the Marbled Chocolate Bar. It was out of this world. The micro-crispies in the brownie portion were my favorite aspect. It also wasn't too sweet/overwhelming like some chocolate-based desserts can be. Portions were generous. Tables were well tended. Staff were constantly keeping waters full and tables clean. (I accidentally dropped a piece of beef between dishes while serving and the potential mess was immediately cleared away). A Disappointing Experience at Beef Bar NYC - A Lesson in Disrespect and Discrimination I had the unfortunate opportunity to experience Beef Bar NYC last Saturday, and I left the restaurant feeling deeply insulted and mistreated. I had a 6 PM reservation for a dinner date with one my close girlfriends, but from the moment I arrived, I was met with an unexpected and unjustified level of disrespect. Upon arrival, a security staff member immediately instructed me to step aside without offering any explanation or even a greeting. After confirming my reservation, I was told to wait outside in the freezing cold New York winter. While I stood there, I watched several other patrons casually walk past me and into the restaurant, seemingly without any delay or judgment. I was perplexed, but little did I know that this was only the beginning of an unpleasant encounter. A woman, who I still don't know the identity of or what her role was at the restaurant, approached me with an accusatory tone. Without any proper introduction, she asked, "Are you aware we have a dress code?" At this point, I was taken aback--especially since I was dressed warmly in an ankle-length coat, a scarf, and had a purse and a bag containing my heels that I planned to change into, Does that sound like you can see my apparel? She claimed that she was told I was dressed in athletic wear, despite the fact that no one had seen my outfit or greeted me in any way. I was not given a chance to explain myself, nor was I treated with even the most basic respect. Instead of simply addressing the issue, she spoke to me condescendingly as though I was a child in need of a lesson. She informed me, in the most dismissive manner, that I wouldn't be allowed entry due to the alleged violation of the dress code, and suggested I return at another time. It was clear at this point that I was being judged unfairly and without cause. The worst part of the experience was that, while I stood outside in 10° weather, I noticed others entering the restaurant--wearing casual attire like jeans and sneakers--without any issue. What I couldn't help but notice, however, was that none of those patrons were Black like I am. This experience was nothing short of discriminatory. I was made to feel less than human, mistreated, and unjustly singled out. I called My friend, who had already been checked into the restaurant to make her aware of the situation and we decided to leave and head to Locanda Verde, just around the corner. The contrast was night and day. At Locanda Verde, I was greeted with warmth, respect, and excellent service. We had a wonderful time, enjoyed fantastic food, and felt valued as guests. Beef Bar NYC may have garnered a reputation for its offerings, but based on my experience, I cannot, in good conscience, recommend it to anyone. No one deserves to be treated the way I was treated, and I will be sure to share my experience with friends, family, and colleagues so that they can avoid the same disappointment. If you're looking for a restaurant with excellent food and a respectful atmosphere, I highly recommend Locanda Verde. It is an establishment that knows how to treat its guests, no matter their appearance or background. read more

After my sister dined at Beefbar with a friend we had to experience it with our mom on Saturday, the day before the maddening Mother's Day rush at noon for brunch. Beefbar is a restaurant that doesn't just serve food, but curates an experience. From the moment you walk in, it's clear this place is something special. The atmosphere strikes a perfect balance between modern elegance and cozy charm. Whether you're out for a romantic dinner or a celebratory gathering, the space adapts to your mood. The service at Beefbar is exceptional. Our server was genuinely enthusiastic, well-informed about the menu, and attentive without being intrusive. Glasses were never empty, pacing between courses was spot-on, and recommendations felt personalized. It's rare to feel this well taken care of. Simply put, the food was extraordinary. We started with an assortment of appetizers, rock corn made like rock shrimp tempura style with spicy mayo sauce; then the bar buns, crispy beef samosas and finally a pastry basket to share amongst the four of us. The mains were the showstoppers: we each ordered the Filet-Frites & Beefbar Sauce which had just the right amount of shaved truffles (we specified of course). As if we weren't already stuffed, we indulged in the dessert - cheesecake with crème brûlée top and carrot cake with coconut ice cream, and left a lasting impression. Beefbar is such a great restaurant! I visited Beefbar with a friend to celebrate my birthday. The staff were all extremely kind and attentive. We received a complimentary glass of champagne, and our waiter was very patient as we decided on all of the items we wanted to order. I loved that there was a dj in the rear of the restaurant near the bar, which called for good times and good vibes. As a lover of Wagyu the Filet Mignon was delicious! As were the truffle mashed potatoes. I had such a great time and a wonderful birthday at Beefbar! I cannot wait to return! read more
