Beefy's has been a Reno icon for decades and going into this micro-diner is a time travel experience on a tiny level with big surprises. I loved the high quality selection of beer and wine! Yes, Trappists are not easily found and a split of Veuve Cliquot! Oh, yes, you can celebrate here! Checking out the menu gives you plenty of options. We were happy with our Nevadan burger and wings, though the wings were just a tad over done making the meat not as moist. All depends on the size but they at least know to cook them fresh each batch so they do take longer. Overall a fun place to visit for something different and cozy. read more

If you're looking forward on eating a burger this is the place! The location itself is pretty small but they have tables outside where you can sit was well. The burger I ordered was the awesome awesome which was so big and juicy! The meat tasted so fresh and it was so cheesy! On the side I ordered the pizza fries which were also delicious and cheesy, the pepperoni on it was crunchy and they just had the perfect texture. We also ordered the 25 wings, split half of the order with their garlic sauce and the other half we got the nuclear wings. If you're looking so some spicy wings I highly recommend the nuclear ones they definitely are spicy yet super good! The garlic wings were also good. I've heard great things about the burgers here. I loved the old Landrums and this location holds so much local history. Since eating out isn't permitted during quarantine Someone brought me some Beefy's. Although our order was wrong( we ordered 3 different burgers, they gave us two plain bacon burgers instead on the other burger ordered) the burger I had with an onion ring and bbq was fabulous. Cooked just right with a good size patty, fresh toppings and a healthy size burger. The fries were great as well. I'll be back to sit in when permitted to do so! read more

Whenever I visit a new city, I always look up the best burger in the city. This place got a decent review so I thought sure. I have lived in Reno for several years and never heard of this place. I got the "Awesome Awesome" (because I love the "Awful Awful") and it was the greasiest burger I have ever eaten! I also love garlic fries so I got those also and it was normal fries with uncooked minced garlic on top. I had 2 fries before I threw it away. I was only able to eat half the burger (and I am a bigger dude so it was not the proportions that were the problem) because of all the grease! I threw up the 1/2 burger I ate because of all the grease when I got home. I do not recommend eating at this place unless you need to lose weight because you will be throwing up for several hours. read more

I had driven past Beefy's a whole lot before I noticed it...I was missing out! I finally went with a friend and we somehow timed it perfectly- got a parking spot in the (small) lot out back and seats at the counter. It's definitely small and filled up while we were there. My friend loved her burger and mine was very delicious. I got one with grilled pineapple though and instead of slices, there were small chunks of pineapple that didn't seem grilled and mostly fell out...so that could have been better. Also it was pretty greasy. But the burger and bun were delicious, and fries, and an almond milkshake with whipped cream was so good. And not so common a flavor to find- so worth it to get one there. Prices were a little high but service was fast and friendly. We even got a tip for to go orders- request the burger be kept separate from the bun and assemble at home. That way it doesn't get too soggy. I haven't tried it...mostly want more milkshakes. read more

I don't know how this restaurant has four and a half stars. I feel generous giving it three. One of the waitresses was super friendly so I feel like the extra star was for her. Located right on Virginia Street in Reno, it's a cute old looking diner. There's very limited seating inside but they have some nice picnic tables outside. I had the Reuben sandwich, my husband had the Stetson hamburger, and my mother-in-law had the chili cheese fries. My husband enjoyed his hamburger, it was tasty but wasn't anything super special about it. The Reuben was meh, my mother-in-law's fries were cold and the chili wasn't very hot. We liked the onion rings but did not like the fries. The ranch dressing was from a bottle. For those that love ranch dressing homemade with their fries. Their ice cream stuff looked amazing though! And we heard positive comments about their shakes. So we would try it probably for that but definitely not for their food. read more

Virginia St. I was hankerin' for a cheesesteak going in, and was looking to avoid a Subway or chain shop disappointment. Experience has proven difficult finding a decent cheesesteak in Reno. Enter Beefy's. Has pretty high Yelp ratings. Initial hiccup upon entry when the server motioned me to a stool, but then spent the next 10min. divvying tips and balancing the cash box before taking my order. "I haven't forgotten about you..." OK? I counted (surprisingly) about 9 employees on the clock inside. Most of these were relatively talkative & friendly types, rubbing elbows and awkwardly ducking patrons & fellow employees alike within the cramped space. I even had the fortune of seeing the crackhead-looking female employee so colorfully described in several other reviews, lol. My sandwich came out fast n' hot. They use round steak here (kinda like sliced stew meat); unlike a traditional chopped Philly which uses ribeye, sirloin or skirt. This one candidly was a little rubbery & chewy for my liking. Unremarkable french fries aren't included (extra menu item) and soft drinks are served out of aluminum cans (no fountain refills). Sandwich, fries & can o' pop came to around $20, including customary, but not mandatory tip. I also overheard 1 of the owner's buddies complaining about a recent fly infestation inside, which I witnessed during my short visit. Oh, and the Montgomery Ward's-era A/C units inside the joint r' pretty useless. The skinny low-down? They probably have a signature menu item here, but I'm guessing it's NOT their Philly sandwich? Still searching for that elusive quality Philly steak in N. Nevada. Cheesesteak Shop r-u listening? Was glad to be supportive of a small business like Beefy's none-the-less. They are closed Sundays. Went today, Friday 11 August 11:30 for lunch. Waited at the wait to be seated sign, server said she'd be right with us. A few minutes later she informed us that there was only one beef patty left, if we were there for burgers we needed to know. Told her we would have something else. Server sat us in a corner alcove, never came back to take our order. After several minutes we decided to try and move outside as it was very hot, no air in that corner. She told us to wait while she cleaned the table. Several more minutes passed, we went outside where the table still had not been cleaned, and we left. First time here. Heard a lot. It was very good. Funky cool spot. I'll prob upgrade to a five on next visit if as good. Server was very friendly. Well instead of upgrading to a five star I would like to lower to a zero. This is for one main reason. This is an update after my 1 star review. My family and I went back to beefys the next morning in hopes the same lady wouldn't be there, well did we get lucky she was not there! Two young lady's were running the place bright and early. We ordered our food it was served to us in a fast timely manner and it was so delicious. We were so impressed by the cook , she was getting down in that tiny kitchen and well she rocked! Our server who took our order was so pleasant and friendly , we explained what had happened the night before and she apologized on behalf of that woman who was the dishwasher. My Korean burger was so juicy and tasty . Everyone in our party was happy with their food. We can't wait to go back and check off more burgers since we wanted to try everything off the menu! Beefey's looks like it once had a ton of potential with unique & even fun options. Now they're reduced to second rate food that's boring & bland. Burgers were bland as hell. Totally burnt on the outside & absolutely no seasoning used. Just a little salt & pepper would go a long way. Fries are meh. Fried zucchini was decent but drenched in oil. Our first visit to Beefys. My hubby ordered what we like to call a Coney dog. They call it a chili dog. I tasted the chili, it was good. I ordered a fancy grilled cheese. White bread, cheese, avocado, green chilis. As you can see the bread is devoid of butter. Basically flavorless toasted bread. The avocado slices were hard, the chilis were wilted and the cheese was congealed. A fancy grilled cheese demands gooey cheese. This was not what I was given, for the price. We paid 20 dollars that included a 20% tip. We said we would be dining Alfresco on their back patio. The server came out with a can of soda and our food stuffed in a paper bag. Awesome if you're into diners. Service was friendly, food was great! I had a philly cheese steak, while my dining companions had a breakfast burger and pizza burger, while we also got a side of parmesan fries and mozzarella sticks. Burgers were cooked to the correct temperature, Mozzarella sticks were tasty while marinara was flavorful, and fries were crisp and on point. Prices were a little expensive for a "diner" and portions were a bit small, but nothing extreme, and I'd happily pay a bit more for better food. Restaurant is a bit small, so maybe not a great place for a party of 12. But overall, a solid diner experience. Will come back every once in a while, and only reason it's not more often is that I'm usually into food that's a bit healthier. Other than that, awesome place! read more

This was the first time coming in since it changed owners. When I got here all of the outside tables had people at them! It seems to have improved. I ordered a pastrami and swiss on rye with brown mustard and asked them to add sauerkraut. The waitress suggested that I make it a combo. I did and got the maple bacon milkshake to drink. I also ordered 12 sweet and spicy wings to go. The fries were nicely browned with a slightly peppery seasoning, very tasty. The sandwich was perfect! I could taste all of the ingredients. It tasted like high quality ingredients. I loved the maple bacon milkshake! Bonus , at the end of the shake you get to eat the bacon that soaked in the shake. The wings are nice and big and tasted pretty good. I would have liked more of the sweet chili sauce on them. When I order them again I will ask for extra sauce.
