Interesting concept. They did a good job on the inside décor. I expected a better beer selection. Besides the macros on tap, they had a bunch of crazy beers on tap, which can be good or bad depending who is looking for what beer at any given time. I just didn't think the list was very balanced. Besides the stouts, strong ales, sours and such, they had several double IPA's (some hazy, some not), but not one single IPA. The ability to pour your own beer and choose the amount is cute, but I personally like to sit at a bar and engage with the bartenders. We ordered a few snacks to try, the sirloin skewers were tasty, the cheese planks were good, but the pretzels tasted horrible and had a bad, non-pretzel texture. I expected there to be a lot more variety's of beer but it was actually quite small. I have been to many places that have 2-3 times their selection. It is also a dangerous game, serving yourself might get super pricey especially after you've had a few. Who is there to regulate and make sure you don't get served to much, usually that's the bar tenders job. On to the food...I ordered the fire chicken and it was delicious. It was Spicy yet sweet and cooked perfect. My wife ordered the shrimp and grits and it was not eatable. It was covered with a mass amount of uncooked spices that they "garnish" with but it was overwhelming. It honestly took away any flavor that the shrimp or grits had and tasted like raw spices. Our daughter had the chicken biscuit and gravy. It was ok...the chicken was over cooked and dry. The biscuit was dense when a biscuit should be light and fluffy. The gravy and carrots were good. Now the service...our waitress looked like she hadn't showered in days and was a mess. She was not very attentive and didn't seem to care. At one point when I got up I saw her and another waitress sitting at the bar, in my book unacceptable. When we told her about the food she didn't care and walked away. The idea of Beer Wall is perfect for this area but the execution isn't great. They have 10 taps upstairs with some arcade games and 28 on the main level. The beer selection was decent but nothing unusual. With 38 taps overall there should be something that sets Beer Wall apart from some of their close competitors like Barley Mow down the street. The entire system is new and clearly not flawless, which could use some streamlining if I am tapping my own beer. Also, if you are going to get something to eat, I recommend calling ahead. Tables are first come first serve but there is nothing from keeping people just drinking at the small selections of tables for hours while everyone waiting is just standing around. Overall I would consider trying Beer Wall again but I would definitely make a reservation in advance! read more

We were looking for a place to get a bite to eat and have some beers on a Friday night. As you walk in there is a small full bar to your right and then seating as you walk forward. We had a party of 4 and were immediately seated near the kitchen. The place is well kept and has a good feel to it. The beer wall on the main floor has plenty of options of beers. The taps were pretty easy to operate and the staff is helpful if you haven't been there before to make sure they help you out. We ordered dinner and the staff was very careful with my garlic allergy to point out things I could and could not have on the menu and once we ordered the kitchen staff came out with some questions and adjustments to our order which was two appetizers, the duck fries and the pretzel bites. They advised me on not eating some of the sauces. Very friendly and knowledgeable. The appetizers were good and the beer delicious and the whole experience wasn't that expensive for 4 people. Meh... Pros: Beer selection was great Like the self tap concept Games were fun ie. Mortal Kombat & TMNJ Cons: Everything else... Bouncer/Doorman checks IDs and when I ask how to get a table, tells me to just sit down as everything is self service Not the case... Waiting list for the tables in the back but wouldn't know that unless you ask one of the random employees walking around. Wife and I sat at the bar and listened to bartenders bitch and one even said they were close to walking out. I get it, you bartend at a self service beer place... That sucks. Food was mediocre at best. The salmon on my salad looked and tasted like it was made on a George Foreman grill. I don't expect gourmet but wished it was a bit better than this. This place focused too much on the self tap tech and novelty and completely disregarded the rest of the business. If you want to feel like you are hanging out in your friends basement who happens to have a bunch of kegerators and some cool games, this is the place for you. Really wished it was better. Would definitely come back with friends to have some drinks and hang out but it's not a place for food. Maybe it's not supposed to be and that's ok but I was hoping for more. read more

Get the fries! They are probably the best fries I've ever had. Only complaint is that they waste 6-8 taps with macro beer. This concept fits more of the hipster craft beer fan than frat boy. Get rid of most of those taps and put on some quality beer and this place will be perfect! read more

Where to even start. First off the service is very slow. It took is 2 hours alone to get our food. Then to top it off the tables were by the stair case where people run up and down. That sound alone plus the loudness of hearing everyone's conversation is obnoxious. Our food was cold like it was sitting under the food warmer waiting for at least 45 minutes. Our server Jack had the whole bar to deal with besides 1 other server. Everytime he said he would be right back it took him 20 plus minutes. When it came to paying it took 40 minuets after asking 3 other people to get him and physically walking around ourselves to find him. I will NEVER be coming back again not even for beers. You pour them yourself and half the beer is head to begin with in your cup. So be prepared to pay 9.00 for a damn cup of head. NOT THE ATMOSPHERE NOR PLACE O EXPECTED. read more

Nice idea to taste-test different beer. Place is clean and seemed pretty organized. Staff very friendly and competent. Beer tap area can get really clustered while patrons take time to check out the available beer selection. Food --- this is where they definitely lost points. Ordered the Hot Chicken and the Chicken Biscuit. Both dishes were grossly over fried. The first was at least edible, or so I was told, but the second one tasted as if someone dumped half a salt shaker in it. It was so salty (and spicy hot, which was not indicated in the menu description) that it was impossible to eat, even for my foodie guy. For the Beer Wall concept I give it a 5. Front of house customer service is a 5 as well. I have been here plenty of times. Beers and games are a blast. However the 3 stars is for the food and I'm being nice with 3 stars. The menu sounds amazing but it is lacking any flavors on execution. The French Duck had zero taste to it. Thank god for the roll. Said it had cranberry aioli on it, well that was lost. The Wild Boar tacos were tasteless and I happened to be at this place when I over heard another customer sending it back for no flavor. Also I was asked if I wanted chips or fries. Not a fan of the homemade chips so I asked for fries. Well the fries are cut so thin and hammer fried that they come out as chips too. I told people that this place will only be successful with great food. I hope this is fixed. I will keep coming back for the beer, not the food. read more

First of all. I called to order food and the menu online was out dated. The first item was no longer available. I was told I had to go to Facebook to get the updated Menu. Ordered to go food. Picked up, got home, missing one meal from the order. Called and they took it off the bill and offered for me to come pick it up the missing one. To far for that. Me and my wife decided to just split the meal we had. We took one bite of the tacos and almost died from a salt overdose. They were bad. I called and they took this meal off the Bill. We also ordered an app and that was good. This experience was awful. We have eaten here several times and it was good, nonetheless my wife's Birthday meal that she requested was bad. Wanted to try something new. Walked in and the gentleman who welcomed us was extremely friendly and warming. However it was the WORST mistake ever to eat here! The whole getting your own beer and trying it out concept they have is very cool. Would go back for that. However the food was horrible. Ordered the duck fries; very salty. The hot chicken had a funny taste. I don't know if it was too much honey that was added or the type but it tasted off. Saw that they had lamb tacos so went ahead and tried it. Nope. Smelled like cilantro. Too much added to it. The lamb had no seasoning on it at all. The slaw was runny. It just wasn't good. The server wasn't too warming. Only came out to take order, drop off food and ask if we needed boxes, were ready or not to leave. This is a place you would go to if you were drunk cause then you wouldn't notice how bad the food taste. Either you drink a lot first then eat or don't go at all. If I could give a zero star rating I would. Didn't seem like a place where they have ethnic customers come in too much. Didn't feel quite welcoming. They should have a designated spot outside for customers who want to smoke, far far far away from people who are eating outside on patio. The tap your own beer thing didnt work well for our party of 3. For one, we had one card, therefore we had to pour our beers one at a time. This was during second Fridays and people were just elbowing each other out of the way to get to the taps (sigh). We waited a long time for our pretzel bites and artichoke dip but both were super delicious and plentiful. We would return here to eat but only when it's not so crowded. Walked in there once -- it was packed. The person working at the door decided to lock the doors so that no one else could get in, I guess because the place had reached it's capacity. Drove from Lancaster, we waited 30 minutes to get seated for food which was fine but then it felt like they forgot about us had to flag down the host to let him know no one came to take our order. Food was not good rice that came along with the tacos was hard brisket Mac and cheese barely had any cheese sauce, food was also cold. Complained to the manger who gave us a $25 gift card for group of 6 but then blamed the service on a problem they were having with the beer (although this problem happen after the food came). They are set to open another location in Lancaster hopefully it's better! read more

There was only one table full with people who were having a great time, but the noise was so bad ( I would assume because of the acoustics of the room) we had to leave. I love this restaurant mostly for the atmosphere and the food (as I am not a beer drinker)! I absolutely love the food, I am more than halfway through trying the menu items and I haven't had anything that I even remotely disliked so far. Love it all! The employees are always friendly and helpful. They are very tentative to their customers, and striving to keep them satisfied. The restaurant, bathrooms, bar area, self serve beer wall, etc.... everything is clean! Definitely recommend trying this place even if you are not a beer drinker and discouraged by the name... there is plenty to enjoy - food, bar drinks, arcade games, and a nice atmosphere :) read more
