Always great service but this time, I felt like they just threw my order together. Disappointing. I ordered the eggplant w/garlic sauce based on the restaurant's picture as well as other customer pictures, however, that is NOT what I received. Maybe it's because I ordered about 40 min before close but that should not change how they complete my order. By the time I got home, they were closed so I was unable to call them. It's just another Chinese joint. You either order at the counter or the waitress comes to your table. They give you a paper menu with prices that are about $1 higher than what they have in the window. The portions aren't particularly large. Good sized though. The chicken had just enough sauce. Some places you go, the sauce is all over the plate and enough for two orders. Soda is just in a can. The waitress wasn't rude but she was short and direct. She's probably the owner. Ambiance was like a cafeteria. Chairs were about as comfortable too. I'd probably go back just because of its location. It's less than a 5 minute walk from my new office. read more

Two visits that showed consistency in quality of service and food. Beware that you will need a take home container when you are finished eating; a good sign for the abundance of food served. Chicken Chow Mein and Fried Rice are my go to items every time. This place does not disappoint at all. Not only is a food so very good, the portions are quite large and more than one person. Especially if one orders more than one dish. The fried shrimp is almost a good as my most favorite ever. This shrimp is flatter with a nice crust. The staff has been helpful and pays good attention each visit so far. The inside seating normal has about 11 or so 2-4 person tables. Sadly, there is no outdoor seating. Tried this new place for the first time today while on lunch. Earlier this week I saw this place on Yelp and I could tell that it was new because I have pretty much have scoped out the majority of Chinese restaurants here in Rancho Cordova. Very excited to try this place as I saw the recent 5 star ratings as well as reading that they do NOT use MSG in their cooking. Called in an order for pick up today which was an order of Beijing fried rice and a order pork pot stickers. Arrived at the plaza where Beijing Cafe is located, the cafe itself is smaller than your average Chinese restaurant after all it is a "Cafe". Their menu is very standard and limited, just a page worth of dishes which consist of noodles, appetizers, rice plates drinks, soups, few Ala cartes and lunch specials. On to the food: 1. Beijing Fried Rice: I got a really nice serving of this fried rice but to be honest, it was okay. For me personally, it did lack a lot of flavor, like I felt like I needed some soy sauce or salt but it wasn't terrible. And I didn't feel guilty eating this dish because it was so clean, it's literally meat, veggies and rice fried. And the menu does state that the rice has ham but I didn't receive any ham in my rice. All I had was chicken, shrimp and veggies. 2. Pork Pot stickers: These were really yummy and man they are BIG! Meaty filled pot stickers and it comes with a yummy soy sauce to dip them in. Steamed just right with the right amount pan fry crisp. There are a few more dishes that I really wanna try next time, hopefully those ones will WIN me over and I have good hopes that they will. We used to really love this place, especially the Singapore Noodles but they raised their price so much. Now when I place the order online it charges for the noodles $2 plus the shrimp $2. $17.99 is for what? We used to get this dish which included the noodles with shrimp and chicken but we ask for no chicken. It's confusing. Maybe it's a mistake? Well, we just discovered that if you order online the charge is higher that if you order at the restaurant because it's assumed it's a GrubHub order. This place is excellent, my favorite Chinese food place in Rancho. I've had a few dishes here, they have great fried rice, vegetables are always fresh, and the meat is always very well cooked and plentiful. Solid portions, or huge, but good sized. My go to meal here is the Salty Pepper Chicken. It's a box of lightly fried crunchy salty chicken chunks with an oil that is delicious and complements the garlic and jalapeño flavors poured on top. A lot of Chinese places have this dish. But it's absolutely the best version I've had here. Also the place is very clean, and the lady who works the front is very sweet and always cuts while in the boxes for your fried dishes so they don't get soggy. read more

I wasn't aware that mushrooms would be included since it's not listed or shown anywhere so that through me off a bit. I also had to add a little salt. But all in all, it wasn't too bad. I just wish mushrooms weren't included. Maybe I got someone else's order? Idk. General Chicken- Really good. Not too spicy and flavorful. I was actually surprised since I've been let down multiple places I've tried. The only thing I wished was if the chicken had a little crisp to it. Then it would be perfect. House Fried Rice- OMG so good!! Freshhh. I have no complaints whatsoever. This rice has shrimp, chicken, imitation crab, carrots and peas. Absolutely delicious and a large portion! Cheese Wontons- I had high hopes for the cheese wontons but I guess everything can't be perfect. They're large but not full. The cream cheese inside lacks flavor and the sauce it's a bit too watered down. Speaking of sauce, I ordered a large for two extra dollars ($2). I attached a photo. Is this the large?? This is the closest Chinese spot to me and has aright Chinese food. I got the salt and pepper fish and garlic eggplant. The pepper salted fish was good, however I was expecting a bit more veggies. For great pepper and salt dishes, I highly recommend Hoa Viet which is another few miles drive down the highway but it's definitely worth it. The garlic eggplant was just alright, it was missing that taste that I often get ordering this dish at other Chinese places. Wasn't bad but wasn't great either. I like the style of cooking at this restaurant. The orange chicken has real oranges. When you order a dish with vegetables it has a good variety- Zucchini, carrots, water chestnuts, broccoli, mushrooms. The shrimp fried rice was very good. I also love the Won ton soup. Absolutely disgusting. I went on a Sunday evening about a month ago and dined in and received excellent customer service from the staff there. Only to return the following week during a weekday to a person with a HORRIFIC NASTY DISTASTEFUL ATTITUDE upon arrival. For no apparent reasoning. Just bitter and offensive. On top of that my orange chicken was old and soggy, and cold hard rice. Nothing Like the food on the Sunday prior not to Mention again the offensive behavior on the part of the host at the cashier taking my order. I decided to forgive and try once again today. And once again was meant with the same STONE FACED man with a grimaced face. This behavior in and of itself is repulsive and to top it off I was given old reheated food once again. You'll never get another red cent of mine and I will dispute this change because it wasn't even fit to give to my dogs. We ordered the Cheese Wontons, Chef's special General Chicken, the House Chow Mein and a side of white rice. All of the food arrived hot in temperature which was great! The flavor for everything was awesome. The cheese wontons were cooked perfectly and we liked that the dipping sauce for those wasn't too sweet. The House Chow Mein was really good and included chicken, shrimp and crab. The general chicken was really good as well. It had nice big pieces of chicken and the right amount of breading, the breading wasn't too thick and you could tell it was homemade. And all the chicken pieces actually had good, white meat chicken in them. The flavor of the sauce was great and not too sweet. We got the chef's special general chicken portion which didn't come with rice but was more of a family size portion to share, the two of us both had some and took leftovers home, and the it was the same thing for the House Chow Mein portion. The service was wonderful. The server brought us water to our table right away. They were friendly and checked on us after the food arrived. Since we shared the two dishes the only suggestion I would have for the staff would be to supply a serving spoon for the two dishes so we didn't have to use our forks to put it on the extra plates provided.
