Review of my visit on Friday, December 16, 2022. I don't hand out 5-stars often on a first visit; however, this place deserved it! Upon entering this establishment, my Mom, brother, and I, were greeted promptly by our very cute waitress. She was superb! Very positive attitude and super helpful! Tough decisions on what to order. I went with the personal margherita pizza and requested onions as an additional topping. Speaking of toppings; they were top-notch, plenty, and fresh! Just enough sauce, not overpowering. Plenty of slices for a meal and had a few slices to take home. One of the best margherita pizzas I've had. Only regret is not ordering a larger sized pizza so I had more to snack on later. Drinks were refilled when needed. Our waitress checked on us without overdoing it. Food arrived in sufficient time and presented well. This is a small restaurant, a "mom and pop" type of place. Located in a "strip-mall", there is sufficient parking, at least when we stopped by for a late lunch. Appears to be in a good area, easy to find. They also have NY related goodies for sale. Drake Devil Dogs and Drake Coffee Cake, shipped straight from NY. My Mom and brother got some. I bummed a couple Devil Dogs from my brother for desert later... LOL! Will return to this restaurant again! I guarantee! I'll try something different when I'm in town! Most strongly recommended! read more

Not much to say about the ambiance but the wings were crispy, juicy, and delicious, and I'd go back just for the fried zucchini. The daily special (stuffed shells) looked good. The service was friendly and attentive. read more

Had not been here in a while. They still offer exceptionally outstanding pizza and Italian dishes. Their prices are reasonable compared to the competition while their food is often superior to places costing 50% more...in my opinion. Steve (owner-operator) handles things just right. If you have room dessert cakes are outstanding. You can always take it home. Our servers were Natalie and Haley who were very attentive while also waiting on several larger contingents. We tried the place just north several times - and after many flops and less than enjoyable experiences I had to cut them off like a friend with an addiction - plus, nothing there is as good as what is served here. Plus, we like to dine in, and they provide real utensils along with an outstanding server experience at Bella. Will be returning more frequently because the pizza is truly New York style. Yum, yum. We've ordered pizza delivered (via grubhub) twice from Bella. Both times, delivery was quick and the pizza tasted great. The only reason for dropping a star is that the interior crust is very soft. When we reheat leftover pieces, it crisps up nicely. read more

My husband, dad & I came across this restaurant from recommendations. It is a small mom & pop owned restaurant serving New York style pizza. The owner is from New York. My husband likes their calzones (veggie eaters) & also their veggie eaters pizza. The pizza is served in slices & not cut up into squares like some other places. My dad likes their pizza & also their baked ziti which is a big portion. They have other entrees as well on the extensive menu. We also like their mozzarella sticks served with marinara sauce & the garden salad with Italian dressing. I get their gluten free pizza since I'm gluten sensitive & it tastes like regular pizza plus is served the same way in slices. As an extra treat, they also have Drake's cakes such as yodels, devil dogs, & crumb cakes . It is nostalgic to me since I'm originally from NJ & had these growing up. You can use credit cards to pay for the food from the menu but you have to pay cash for the cakes so make sure you have some available. The staff is friendly & very helpful. It is now our new go to place & I drive about 15 minutes to get there. read more

Ever since friends told us about this place when we moved to Eastmark, this is our go to pizza delivery spot. They have really good chicken wings, pizza, and fried zucchini. Even when we order delivery, chicken wings are still steaming. We went to dine in the other day and the girls were working hard but everyone got great service. Food was hot. Drinks were filled. Was craving for something Italian or just some sort of pasta place. Saw this place was closed by and the reviews were pretty high. Came in there wasn't anybody seated but mostly more picks up. Which is normal I think for the place base off the reviews. The waiter which I think was the owner was very nice and polite. Great service and friendly attitude. The food was amazing. Being from New Jersey I know that mom & pop shops are better then the chair pizza parlors. We have searched all over for a true New York pizza and haven't been able to find one. All these places that claim that they're a New York style pizza are full of themselves. I don't believe their even from the New York area. Now Bella's I believe the owner is the real deal. This was the best pizza next to New York I've ever tasted. Being in Mesa just for four months I'm happy to find Bella's. Tonight we didn't know what to do for dinner because my wife and I have been working non stop and didn't feel like cooking. Now when my wife told me this was the best pizza she's ever tasted I was like wow. The reason being, my wife doesn't like pizza. Well she does now. If you want a great pizza take this Yankees opinion, start will Bella's. We ordered pie with 1/2 White Belles and 1/2 Hawaiian. Besides that we had anti-pasta salad. Wow! So many mixed reviews on the quality of the food. This review however, is for the awesome NY Style pizza slice only! While driving home from work yesterday I had a craving for a nice, large slice of NY Style pizza. Something as big as my hand and less than $5 a slice. I took my phone out and quickly Yelp'd "Pizza by the Slice" and found this gem. When I pulled up I could smell freshly made sauce, basil and bread, before I opened the door. There was an older lady coming out of the restaurant with a huge carry out bag. Huge! That was a good sign. Inside, there was a single man dining, eating the eggplant special and a party of 4 other women dining as well. I noticed they had a bottle of wine so I assumed it's a BYOB place because I didn't see wine anywhere. I ordered one slice of pepperoni pizza and decided to eat inside. My total was $3.42. It took less than 5 minutes to arrive and it was everything I was hoping it would be. Crispy bottom, greasy, tasty cheese and pepperoni. I asked for red pepper flakes and parmesan cheese. I was delighted when the server and to go behind the counter and get it out of the refrigerator. I love that they don't keep the parm on the tables that stuff is supposed to be refrigerated. I'd definitely rerun again for the NY Slice of pizza. Despite the many mixed reviews (more like negative reviews) on the other food items, I still want to try them for a full course dinner. read more

Goldmine. I ordered the meat eaters pizza, appetizers, wings with a Ceasar salad, and cheese bread for the family. Everything was spot on from the taste of the food to the quick delivery service. Inside tip ask them for spicy bbq for the wings. Super delicious food. I will be back again. read more

When you call to place an order the call taker is kind of rude. She tells you "YOUR phone is scratchy and I can't hear you!". When I went to pick up my order call taker, think same woman, I telling someone the exact same thing. Y'all might want to check your phones, apparently YOUR phone is scratchy not the customers. Last time I got a salad it had the wrong dressing and it was soggy. This time my wings had barely any sauce and absolutely horrible! When I picked up the order I gave the same women, my last name. She rudely replied she didn't have a order for that name. So I gave her the full name "nope there's no order for that name"....I told her first name and "yep we have an order for that name". Veggie Pizza was outstanding. The dough was fresh and delicious along with the freshly sliced veggies. The Pizza was cooked to perfection and honestly reminded me of the Pizza we had in Rome, Italy. Great find for Pizza and Italian Food. Enjoyed the all you can eat lunch special. Had one slice of cheese pizza and a bowl of Zita with meat sauce. The cheese pizza was a large thin crust slice. Had the full experience... ordered for carry out and the order was wrong as we arrived home. The customer service was absolutely fabulous I was treated like a regular and it was our first time checking this place out. I won't go into details on their policies etc. but I have to say we were ecstatic with their solution. Although the order was wrong and we had an allergy concern (this person didn't end up eating and we grabbed something else by us no big deal) the rest of us thought the food was incredible. Such nice people great food we will be making this our regular spot. They messed up our phone order and then the pizza's came out messed up. Instead of just refunding one of the pizzas and letting us take them to go which I offered to do or even just one refunded back, they insisted to remake them both, which I knew was going to be a mistake being that the other food wasn't going to be as fresh and people in our party at home were hungry. Their AC was hardly working and it was hot inside the waiting area (because it was 116 degrees outside), we were already starving and hungry and had already waited 5-10 minutes after the food was made fresh and now they wanted us to wait to remake the pizzas another 10 minutes, but in reality it turned out to be closer to 15+ minutes and you can tell they rushed to get it out because the quality wasn't the best. While I probably should fault the young kid for messing up the order to begin with, I blame the older guy working up front who seemed to be in charge, for not seeing how irritated we were now having to wait longer and he had the opportunity to make it right after their mistakes. They also threw in a dessert for the wait (some kind of chocolate lasagna cake) but once again making it right is not throwing in some dessert that you don't even know will be eaten. It wasn't eaten, not only because many in our party do not eat sugar or they don't like chocolate, but the one person who attempted to try it nearly bent their fork because it was frozen solid. I'd say it was a nice gesture, but seeing how this happened to another reviewer, I'm more irritated now that their idea of making something right is giving away a dessert that is probably taking up too much room in their freezer. To give credit where it is due, the rest of the food was good and we've had prior good experiences here, but the lack-of management and customer service this go around was very apparent. read more

First time we've gone back a second time for pizza. Near our home. Closest overall to our favorite style. And we eat pizza ALL over the valley. We've had both thin and Sicilian style. Bella's continues to be our favorite local pizza joint, after 20+ years. Their pizza sauce and meats are very tasty and we just like the result. There are literally 5-6 pizza places within a mile of the house and Bella's is our favorite. Mostly we pick up our food take it home, but occasionally we eat in. It's small and not very fancy, but pleasant enough. Several of their pasta dishes are equally as good (Alfredo and stuffed shells). As is the case with all eateries these days, inflation and bloated minimum wages have pushed the prices way up and so we don't eat out as often, but when we want pizza or pasta we go to Bella's. read more

One of my favorite Italian places. Nothing fancy but the marinara sauce is very good. I usually order the stuffed shells, a small green salad with the house creamy Italian dressing, and it comes with garlic bread. Reminds of my childhood living next to a Sicilian family that would always feed me even after having dinner. Great people and incredible food. read more

Fri Sept 13, 2019. My wife and I stopped in this evening for some Italian. We ordered the full order of garlic knots with cheese for an appetizer. They were $5.99 and I can absolutely tell you they are well worth the money. They paired extremely well with their red sauce. I did think they were a smidge over done but still were very good. For the dinner, which we really didn't need because heavens the garlic bread knots are filling, I ordered the chicken parmigiano, and the wife ordered the lobster cheese ravioli with marina sauce. The plate of chicken parmigiano was quite a lot of food. It was smothered with cheese on the chicken. The sauce they have is a non sweet sauce and I prefer a sweeter sauce. But it was still very good sauce. The garlic bread which came with thd meal was perfectly baked. It had a very nice crisp outside but was still very soft inside. The wife stated her lobster ravioli was very good. I do wish they carried root beer, hint! read more

Just got 3 cannolis and a chocolate lasagna for my roommate's birthday. The cannolis were burnt and rock hard. I'm not sure if they were badly made shells that were burnt, or shells that were burnt and left out. They were gross, though. Gonna throw these out. The chocolate lasagna is frozen solid. Birthday boy here can't get a fork into it. I ordered this for pickup an hour ago. If you don't have the food for an order, don't steal my money. Just cancel the order. Edit: we cut the chocolate lasagna in half. It's freezer burnt. The middle is ice crystals. This is super old. Throwing it away, too. Hello chargeback on the credit card. I hesitated to write this review because we love that this pizza place is usually not packed & our usual table is always available. I fear that once the secret is out, we won't get our normal table because you all will see how awesome these folks are! This is our entire family's top pick for pizza near home. My favorite is just their basic cheese pizza, but we never order just 1. We always get some wings & a 2nd pizza, typically cheese, meat, & olives... yum!! Service is always so kind & welcoming!! We happened to be in Mesa to tour models homes. So I looked up some places to eat and we decided on pizza. The reviews helped us decide and they weren't wrong! The garlic knots tho!!!!! I would drive to come get some of those.. like for reals. Especially if I had a day to just do whatever like today! We are a family of six and today had a plus one (our nephew was with us) so we ordered two full orders of the garlic knots and they were so good! The chunky pieces of garlic and buttered or olive oiled goodness was EVERYTHING DELICIOUS! We got an 18inch pizza double cut, medium Caesar salad (super fresh and crisp), chicken carbonara, and lobster ravioli and sprites! Really really enjoyed it and we are full, carbed up and relaxed. I really wanted to love this place but I'm just so disappointed! I'm an Italian from NY and was excited to see some reviews that said this place was close to NY style. I was in the mood for some pasta and ordered a baked ziti. Now you would think an Italian pizza place would know what baked ziti is but clearly they don't. I'll explain. For those Of you who don't know, baked ziti is a ZITI pasta with ricotta, sauce and mozzarella layered and baked. What I got was penne pasta with just mozzarella cheese....... I literally paid $13 for noodles and burnt cheese baked on top. Not even the right noodles! How can you get that wrong!!! So sad. Never again read more
