Wanting there to be a good wine bar in Simi I had high hopes for this place. Not impressed. Both the wines we ordered were not available. One of the meals we ordered was not available. The chocolate cake was inedible. The dried flowers have to go. Silk flowers would be so much better if they can't get fresh. Dried flowers seem dirty, and old. The bread basket is plastic. Seems very dollar store. The wall decor is random and doesn't match. The "traffic" between this restaurant and the one next door from the employees was obvious and really distracting. If they would spend just a bit more time on the decor. Maybe have less wines but the ones that are listed they actually HAVE. Have less desserts and less meal options but make the ones they have fresh and available. Less can be more and can really help in this case. read more

Food Service and ambiance are all 5 stars. This place has the charm of Flemings without the high prices. The food is just as delicious, the service just as excellent, and wine is great! I had to talk my husband into trying it.. we went for the first time and boy was he sorry he argued! He loved it and is recommending Betos Wine and Bistro! Have not been here in years but was craving a good lasagna. Took our good friends and we weren't disappointed! The server was really good and attentive. There was a younger Asian girl who was also really good. So I ordered the lasagna and it was so delicious I saved half for todays lunch. Our friends shared the lasagna and the large portion was perfect for them and they too loved it! They also had the bruschetta, said the Bread could have been crunchier, but loved the flavor. My husband really enjoyed the sausage penne and said the portion was perfect and he is a good eater. I can't wait to go back and try something else. M&B Steakhouse is a dark, chic, little bistro steakhouse, that also has bar seating for pre & post prandial libations or for single diners & handling overflow guests, all in a large stripmall. This may be an opportune time to come since M&B recently opened is still relatively unknown so walk ins are still possible on a Saturday. The menu is concise & uncomplicated. The main courses all have a choice of soup or salad & two sides. This makes for a great deal although there are add ons such as lobster @market price, sautéed onion or mushrooms, spinach, fried shrimp, mac & cheese which may be superfluous since you can't eat all of it since the portions are ample. I had the thick Kuro Buta/Japanese Black Pig pork chop. I asked for it to be cooked as minimally as possible since pork can dry out from higher heat. The brining kept the meat moist, sweet, dense, soft. Possibly sous vided and then grilled to a golden brown hue. The accompanying mushroom sauce is pleasantly earthy ringing of good quality fragrant button mushrooms, creamy w/ satisfying Umami from possibly a chicken fond de cuisine. The baked potato has standard sour cream and chopped green onions. Mashed potato w/ skin is more flavour interesting infused w/ butter & possibly Romano cheese. Rice Pilaf is dry textured Basmati rice w/ scattering of nutty, dark "wild rice" cooked in light broth. We chose Conundrum 2015 Wagner Winery, California which is a conundrum since all it states is "red wine". May be a blend of Zinfandel, Syrah, Grenache, all heat loving grape varietals. Velvety smooth, lush, full bodied, hint of tannins and touch of acid to balance out bit of the over sweetness. Lots of fruity blackberry, blue berry, dark dried plum. Good wine, but not sure if it pairs well to grilled beef, pork. Perhaps a more Bordeaux blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Malbec with stronger earthy tannins & acids would accentuate the primal meatiness better. We were too full for dessert. In fact I had to take half of the meal home, so ample was the meal. There is dessert of seasonal pumpkin bread pudding, chocolate cake, lemon cake. Next time I'd like to try another great deal, the house cut 1 1/4 lb prime rib at $29 available only on Friday, Saturday, Sunday. And the interesting Scalone a la Francese (frahn cheh zeh) which is a mixture of scallops & abalone floured, egg dipped and pan fried. The Plat de Fruit de Mer may be a good seafood themed appetizer. Lemon chicken for those who abstain from red meat. M&B may be the best steakhouse deal in all of Socal. Reasonable prices, tasty meals in a dusky, womb-like cocoon that teleports you away from bland bedroom town Simi Valley to a smart petite boîte somewhere along Ventura Boulevard. 4+ Yelp stars. read more

A very unassuming location in an old Simi strip mall. I was told the Kuehner location was worth checking out but instead we tried this one. Sat at the bar and the service was wonderful. The two sisters working were very welcoming, helpful, and had a fun energy. The other employees were great too. The burrata appetizer was delicious and a great serving size. We had the halibut special and the short rib ravioli special, both delicious. They even surprised us with some tiramisu! We loved our evening there and will definitely be back. read more

I used to come here quite often so I'm not sure if maybe the owners changed, but now you need a reservation to eat here, even when they don't seem to be busy. The food was forgetful. I was told it was newly added, and I am glad they did! Our server was fantastic, she explained the menu, specials and wine list very well. The four cheese gnocchi in bolognese sauce was outstanding, paired with there fresh focaccia. I also started with their house salad (the vinaigrette was delicious) and a Malbec. I've never been offered such a labor intensive dish included in the price of the entree as a side. Christina nailed this IMO. If it is in the menu, check out the passion fruit panna cotta for dessert (it is seasonal) - great balance of acid and cream. Yummy! This is a lovely little steak house run by the owners of Maria's and Beto's. It is located in the old Maria's location which moved two doors down and has the same owners. The menu is a nice mix of steak, seafood, chicken, and a pork chop option. Our steaks were cooked perfectly and the vegetables and potatoes were delicious. I had the roasted carrot soup as a starter and it was amazing. Soooooo good. The garden salad was also good with a nice vinaigrette dressing. For dessert, we shared dark chocolate profiteroles. These were amazing. Next time, I won't be sharing them. ;) The service was excellent and on point. We had everything we needed. The restaurant was clean and well kept. There is plenty of parking. After going round and round about where to have dinner grandson said Beto's Wine Bar & Bistro. While my son was out of town grandson and daughter-in-law went there for dinner. My grandson raved about it. So that is where we had dinner. Granddaughter, myself, and of course grandson, yes raved about it. Service could not have been better if they tried; so personable. Food incredible from appetizer, to soup or salad (yum), then main meal. I had chicken Marsala and it was fantastic. Brought home half of it as both grandkids ordered dessert and I ordered two so we had a taste of everything. I can hardly wait to go back. We were treated like we were family. Their seafood entrees such as Halibut or Salmon are amazing as well. Everything is prepared perfectly and served to you by a very friendly staff.
