Sara is absolutely amazing with Sugaring for hair removal. I have been to many aestheticians for 20+ years in Chicago, Tahoe and the Reno/Sparks/Carson areas for bikini waxes and Brazilians. After having a fall out with my original lash lady of two years, I decided to try a new place for a fill... I asked for volume and I was given classic set,they were hard, not soft or wispy, hard like plastic lashes...they let me return the next day (free of charge) to make it right. I left again not satisfied as my lashes were falling out every time they were touched, she used under eye tape that stuck SO bad under my eye that it damaged the skin, and to top it off I had to pay an extra $30 to be a new client!! I found another lash salon and after a very quick consultation with them they informed me that there is actual glue on my eye lid/lashes! I don't know if they can even get them off now! Just as there are positives and negatives for everything, so there are both for my previous experiences with Bella Salon Spa. I have experienced numerous haircuts, some product consultations, a manicure and a facial at Bella. Now, about each experience: I could honestly take or leave it with the Haircuts. Not fantastic, but not unbearable either. They got the job done, which was trimming split ends. This is what I paid them to do, and it was done. Add a half-star from me. Product Consultations have been useful and enlightening during my visits to Bella. I've found a good Facial Moisturizer (which, has been discontinued), had several "Custom Blended" bath products mixed up in very appealing scents, both of which I now call "staples", my favorite lipstick and blush colors and a favorite body polish during these consultations. Add a star from me. I've had one manicure at Bella which was very soothing and performed in a professional and competent manner. Nothing outstanding, and nothing unacceptable. Add another half star. Finally, my Facial experience was very enjoyable, accomplished what I expected and I found the Esthetician who serviced me to be pleasant and knowledgeable in all areas of skin care and more than happy to take the time to address some concerns and questions that I had regarding skin care and my skin in particular. Add a final star. In conclusion, I am pleased with Bella Salon and Spa and therefore offer three stars. I find their strengths to be their facials and in overall product knowledgability. . read more

I work in Reno but live near Carson City and have been looking for a new full-service salon closer to home for months. I found Bella Salon by accident and couldn't be happier. I started with baby steps. I booked a massage then a few weeks later, a pedicure; I was pleased with both services. But the the biggest leap of faith would come with my hair. I was in desperate need of a new stylist who could cut AND color my hair; something that has always been a challenge for me to find. But I found it with Sarah. For selfish reasons, I don't want to share her (or her name) with anyone else but for obvious reasons, I don't want her going anywhere either. I have been a client of Bella for a decade. The staff greet everyone with a friendly smile and an offer of a beverage. Hair clients are treated to an aromatherapy scalp massage and a hand massage during the shampoo and conditioning process. I could go once a week just for these wonderful pampering moments. I go to Bella for hair styling and massage. Jeannette is a genius with hair and has seen me through all lengths and stages of growing out and cutting off, of coloring and going natural. She creates styles that are appropriate for my age and are still edgy and fun! Shelley has truly healing hands and I always feel relaxed and balanced after our massage journeys. Went to Bella this week after reading reviews on Yelp. I was somewhat hesitant because there were no recent reviews and there were complaints about appointments not being timely. Here are my observations: The salon appears very clean, calm and pleasant-smelling (we all know that is not always the case/!) and I was treated like an honored guest. I was immediately greeted and registered, provided with a very refreshing chilled fruit drink and soon was introduced to my massage professional, Laura Rau. Laura spent a little time asking about my overall health and any problem areas. I indicated my recent return to regular, physical workouts has given me a specific, nagging muscle/joint pain. Laura gave me a full massage (the lavender oil was heavenly!) and during the treatment she paid extra attention to my problem area plus she provided some at-home recommendations to massage away the discomfort. She was thorough, professional and very competent. I received a wonderful, full 60 minute aromatherapy massage, the massage room was very quiet, peaceful and comfortable, and when finished my skin felt smooth and fragrant. I couldn't be more pleased with Laura Rau as my therapist. After just a few minutes relaxing in the salon's oasis room, Sarah Pien introduced herself. She provided a clean and thorough pedicure and when I left the salon, my feet looked as dazzling as my whole body felt. Appointment times were exactly as scheduled and I left knowing Bella deserved a new Yelp review. I almost never give a 5-star rating but wish I had the option to make this a 4-1/2 star rating. Why not a 5-star? $45 for a regular pedicure just seems a little steep. read more

I worked at Bella salon in Carson city. The owner works you 9 hours a day and you do not get even one scheduled break. You don't get a lunch break! There is no time for eating ! You will be scheduled back to back appointments and if your lucky to get a few minutes then you get to eat. If you ask to be blocked out for a break, that is frowned on and you won't be there long after. The owner will let everyone know your going to be terminated before you know, and then lie to unemployment so you don't get your benefits you paid into while you worked there! After reading the other reviews, I notice that no one has mentioned the wonderful massages you get with a haircut. First, you get a choice of 3 oil fragrances. Then, before your hair is washed, you enjoy a relaxing neck, shoulder and scalp massage. And then, while your hair is being conditioned after the wash, you get a hand and arm masssage with a soothing creme. Jennette is my go-to gal. Many, many can cut hair well, but few can actually style hair. Jennette is the tops. She also guides your decisions on style, product, how to keep your style on your own. Always pleasant. read more

I have been going to Bella for over 4 years and Jeanette is an AMAZING stylist and has a team of professional stylists, massage therapists and beauty estheticians. Today I experienced THE BEST massage I have ever had from Cassie. I have been having incredible pain in my neck and shoulder and by the time my massage was complete the pain was gone and I was fully relaxed. I paid more than twice in chicago and about 3x the price in Charlotte for not-as-great color/cut! She totally listened to what I wanted and delivered. I went into Bella to have a hair cut and color. Jeanette suggested low lights in my platinum hair to warm up the color. When finished, I didn't like the look and decided to let her know of my unhappiness on their message machine. I was happy to learn that the salon called me and asked me to come in so that they could help me. While I was of course happy to have it fixed but part of me was feeling a bit scared in that I was dis'ing their work! I went in, and it was all thank you's and gratitude that they were able to fix my issues and grateful that I would share with them that I needed them to make it right! And they DID! I love love love my hair! I mean that I really really really love my hair cut, my color and everything! They went above and beyond to do and make everything right and wonderful! **Update 3/10/16: Since posting this review, Jackie has called several of my friend's family members asking to speak to her or myself and to take this review down. She even went as far as messaging her on Facebook and soliciting positive reviews from family members to counter this negative one. I refuse to take this review down to cover up the terrible service we both received.** This is A HORRIBLE SALON. I went and the stylist, Jackie, INSISTED that I do a full weave. While I was planning on getting a weave regardless, I didn't think much of it. Until I was billed. I was referred over by a friend and was told that we would both get a 20% discount next time we went. Great, a discount, who doesn't like those? Well, even a 20% discount wasn't enough incentive to get me back there after a $200 DOLLAR BILL! Did I mention it took her 4 hours? She made me late to another appointment. Fast forward one month later: My friend went in the change from brown color (that Jackie did before and it faded to a dusty blonde in one month) back to her natural, pale blonde. Jackie again INSISTED that my friend get a weave, even though she didn't want one. She wanted straight color so there was no brownish color left. Jackie didn't listen and continued with a weave. My friends hair is a little longer than shoulder length, where mine is mid-back length. It took 2.5 hours for her to do a shoulder length weave and yet again, made us late to a business meeting. Too make things worse, her "blonde" in the weave turned orange, so her hair is now light brown and orange, YUCK! The manager told her "It was what she asked for and needed to pay the full bill." She refused to use the 20% discount. Don't go here, it sucks and they try to manipulate you. read more

Recently on vacation, my sister and I wanted a new spa to visit so we chose Bella. Love the atmosphere, and I loved my Caribbean Therapy Hand and Foot treatment, even though it was a bit pricey! Unfortunately my sister did not fare so well with her hot stone massage! After we left, she mentioned her back hurt so I looked and she had red marks and blisters from the hot stones! We contacted the spa, and they did not even offer to refund her money! I will be surprised if they stay in business treating people like that! read more

I purchased a "package" for Bella Salon at a charity event. I was so excited to bid on it and when I won I was thrilled. I had a manicure, facial, hair wash and style and refresher makeup. I also added a gel pedicure since spring/summer was coming. I was very happy with each service. The staff was great. The reason I only give 4 stars is that when the appointment was booked it was specifically mentioned that I needed to be finished by a certain time. I was assured that I would be done by the time requested. On a side note the "package" was only supposed to be 2.5 hours + a pedicure which should have only taken about 1 hour. I ended up being at the salon for almost 6 hours -- with no lunch -- and at the time I was pregnant!!! Not a good idea. I also didn't get my makeup refresher. On a happy note, I spoke to Jeanette about it and she was so professional and very grateful that I called to tell her about my experience, which by the way was wonderful. I was just really disappointed that it took so long and I didn't get my full package. She was so gracious she gave me a discount for a next visit. I will continue to get my pedicures done at Bella. I would really like to have all of my salon services done there, but the prices are a bit too high for my budget, especially since I get my hair cut and colored every 5 weeks. Yikes that would be too much!!! On another note... make sure when you book your appointment that the receptionist gets it right. The last time I booked a gel pedicure, they had me down for gel nails. Small glitch, but still the receptionist should get it right. All-in-all... I really love the atmosphere of Bella and the girls are just great. I love the staff and atmosphere at Bella. I have been here numerous times for cuts and coloring of various kinds, as well as for eyebrow waxing and tinting. PROS: Great, friendly staff Free wine or juice spritzer with your service High quality products during your service and available for purchase Online appointment requests (48+ hours in advance) "Frequent flyer" program with discounted service for regularly scheduled coloring, etc CONS: Expensive Long appointments run LOOOOONG... This is the ONLY place I will go in Carson to get my hair done. Sadly, I couldn't afford to come in every 5 weeks to maintain it, so I had to resort to box dyes for a while. Still, when I get a haircut, this is the only place I trust with anything more involved than a simple trim. Highly skilled staff can get you exactly the look you desire, whether it's maintaining the same or trying something completely new. I didn't come in for a while because of finances, and they sent me an email with discounts as incentive to come back in, which I thought was great. I love to see a service provider of this caliber valuing their clients, even if they haven't come by for a while. My only negatives about Bella are that it's expensive (of course, you're getting a much higher quality for the higher price point than you'd find elsewhere in town), and every appointment I have had here has run longer than anticipated. I have a very limited window of time for personal pampering while my child isn't with me, and even coming in for the earliest appointments, I've always had to rush home to meet her bus at noon. With the relaxing spa environment, wine, and complimentary hand massages, I wish I didn't have to undo all that calm in the last half hour watching the clock. This is the best hair salon ever. The staff gives me the best hair cut ever, which can be tricky with curly hair. I also get color that is perfect and matches my complexion to a T! They offer you a juice spritzer when you walk in the door. They have massages, awesome manicures and pedicures and you get free makeup consultations. I got the perfect eyebrow pencil because the staff know what they are doing. I also get my most favorite mascara there. They also have some essential oils and sprays that I really like. Horrible brazilian wax experience! The lady used the same wax stick over and over again for a certain type of wax (double dipping). When the lady was "done", there was still quite a bit of hair left and wax still stuck down there. I had to take it off when I got home. I save up to get my hair done once a year as I don't make very much money. I was highly refered to Bella and decided to have and Ombre style done, which ive had in the past and loved. 4 hours later, $200 and orange highlights I went home very sad. I now have to save again to have it fixed. I was told because I use a box to color it during the year that the bleach didn't take. Although I have done this for years and no one else has turned my hair orange. I will not go back and will not refer anyone to them again.
