The food is great however they are the most unpredictable restaurant in Chico. You never know if they will be open or not. I have gone here 4 days in a row and they have "closed early" every day.. We took our almost 16 year old dog Cooper with us to Bellachino's Cafe for a 16th anniversary brunch this week at their outdoor patio. We used the side gate to get into the patio and I went inside to order while my wife stayed with Cooper. Counter staff was very friendly, used Apple Pay from my Apple Watch to pay. Drinks were ready first, which you pick up at the serving counter; a tropical iced tea and cinnamon vanilla coffee. If you are sitting outside, you may miss your name being called, so go inside to check if drinks are ready. Staff brought our food to our table. My wife had a veggie wrap and I had the Smokin' Berry Bird, which is chopped turkey, onion & spinach mixed together, with smoked gouda cheese topped with bacon & cranberry cream cheese on a Jalapeño Pepper Jack bagel. It was delicious! Thank you Bellachino's for allowing our older dog! Everything was top quality, and we would absolutely go again. read more

This place has great food and a friendly staff. However, do not trust the posted hours of operation. Four times since I have been going there I have shown up or called in an order before closing time and they were closed early. Each time I got a different reason: 1. Closed for private party, not enough staff, slow so closed early, ran out of food. This is very frustrating and their only real problem, but it's big enough that I will not consider going if it's within an hour of the posted closing time. read more

My husband and I went to Bellachino's on Friday night. We ordered an avocado pie and a green tea latte. The green tea latte was not on the menu, but they made it specially for us. The latte was not too sweet and had great flavor of green tea. We loved it a lot. The avocado pie was fabulous! The flavor of the pie was like a key lime pie with rich avocado cream. The atmosphere was relaxing, they had a live acoustic guitar player and the lighting technique which created a wonderful situation. Unfortunately, they did not have alcohol, but they said we could bring in alcohol from the store by the cafe. They announced to us that they will start serving alcohol in a few months. The little hidden cafe was a great location to have a romantic desert night with my husband! read more

I paid $7 for a 4" ×4" piece of carrot cake and a small "living la vida mocha" (their clever name for a Mexican mocha). The carrot cake is dense and moist with a nice top layer of cream cheese icing that isn't too sweet. The Mexican mocha is okay. I prefer mine to be spicy, but it was worth trying and still good. I just won't be ordering it again. I will come back for breakfast because I hear it is excellent. There are different quiches available at $6 per slice. There was one that stood out to me because it had raspberries in it... Interesting. There are pastries available for $2.75 each, including cinnamon rolls, bread pudding and scones. They tell you to call in your order if you are in a hurry. For lunch they offer hot and cold wraps and sandwiches, salads, the usual cafe stuff with good flavor choices. I have a feeling I am going to enjoy breakfast more so than lunch, though. Update, one day later: My husband and I stopped in during breakfast.There was a line of about 6 people in front of us when we arrived at 9:am but the ordering process went relatively fast. The wait for our food took about 8 minutes, so if you are in a hurry this is not going to work for you. We both got water, a bagel each and also a day old cinnamon roll each. Pastries are usually $2.75... we paid $1.50 for the day old version. They were wrapped in plastic and a little squashed, but we didn't care because we were just going to throw them in our carry on bags to enjoy on our flight home. The water tasted great and was served in a clean pint glass. I ordered the Piggly Wiggly Bagel and my husband ordered the Chico Blues Bagel. Both were served warm but not hot. The bagels were soft enough to bite into and not squish the insides out of them. The avocado and other produce was extremely fresh. The bagels had fresh sliced fruit on the side, including orange, pineapple, and melon. We both really enjoyed our visit today and would gladly come back. read more

This review is based on coming in for coffee twice in the middle of the afternoon. I really wanted to like this place, and I've heard it has excellent food (and would like to try it again for dinner sometime, perhaps). But I've decided I'm not coming here for coffee anymore because, in general, I find this place to be pretty bland in atmosphere and experience. It's in a strip mall, and although the chalk board has cool lettering, the overall vibe is rather cookie cutter (although much better than a Starbucks). The staff were okay, but not particularly friendly or on-point. I'd say there are much more interesting options in Chico, especially if you enjoy the "coffee culture" of many cafes. My coffee drinks (Americanos, one time hot, one time iced) were decent. One awesome thing: Bellachino's does have a sweet, somewhat small patio area with gorgeous container gardens and nice tables and chairs with umbrellas! However, watch out: there are also speakers out there, and even if you're the only customer in there and obviously studying, the staff may blast Top 40 crap at you at crazy high volumes. This spot is convenient for me because I live on this side of town and there's not much for coffee shops without having to drive a bit. I just got a plan mocha and that was good! Not too sweet, not too strong, and I got the piggly wiggly bagel which was the bomb.com. Decor, little cafe type vibe and the girls that work there are super nice. The only downside is the price! It's expensive. My small drink and bagel was almost 13 bucks! The bagel was big but I don't know, it's a bagel! Maybe I'm cheap lol. I don't really eat at many breakfast cafes so maybe the price is the same everywhere. First time coming here and it was great! Food (scrambles) was delicious and portions were big. The wait was a bit long but they were busy and working really hard. The place is cozy and a bit secluded so its quiet on the patio. Wish they had more going on out front or with the sign or something to give it a bit more atmosphere and to let people walking by know they're here. I was very happy to find this place right at the end of my street. I haven't had tooo many things on the menu because I got the bacon wrap my first time there and proceeded to get it every single time I went there for the next, say 9 or 10 months. I recently strated doing the same with the pig out. Now, I am not normally a fan of bagel sandwiches for several reasons, mostly because they are too small and thick with bread, but the girl working there convinced me to give it a try and I have to say it is the best bagel sandwich I have had in a long time. As the earlier reviewer said, they close a little early. They seem to do a pretty good lunchtime business because of the hospital and whatever else is over there, so I don't blame them for calling it a day early. And speaking of that lunch rush, it can get a little crowded around noon so I would advise going there a little earlier if you can. I used to be such a huge fan of this place but now I don't think I will be back after today. I called to place a to-go order for the lunch bagel. I always ask for avocado instead of cream cheese because I am dairy intolerant. Usually, this is no problem and I don't mind paying extra for avocado. However, it wasn't until I got home today with my order that I discovered it was slathered with cream cheese. This is so frustrating because I couldn't eat it without upsetting my system and I paid the extra $2 for avocado, which I did not receive. Also, I even saw the order slip when I went to pick up the bagel sandwich and it specifically said "no cream cheese, sub avo". I would not recommend this place for speedy service either. Even if you think that you might not want to try something on the menu, please make the effort because you are sure to be delightfully surprised. It's just not possible to sound like a tough guy when ordering a "Piggly Wiggly" at the counter. The food is so good that it doesn't even matter though. Normally I'd feel awkward with my "Pink Dynamite" and a slice of carrot cake but the workers at Bellachino's are some of the nicest people I've ever had the opportunity to talk to and make you feel right at home. The seating can be a little crowded by I attribute that to being from the good ol' USA and needing a 900 foot bubble of personal space. If you don't mind being near other people, the seating shouldn't be an issue here. It does get crowded during peak times though. They had little pastries put out for Veterans Day so that was a nice little nod to the people who served. There's always random quotes on the chalk board so if you want to know what color sweat a hippo has or how much ear wax whales gain as they age, it'll give you something to ponder about when waiting for your order. Whoever puts that info up has the best hand writing ever by the way. If you want to mix up your boring bagel and cream cheese routine, head to Bellachino's and try one of their crazy bagel sandwich combos. Easily 5 stars. read more

The vibe is so good I feel like I'm on my way home when I'm heading to Bella's. I wake up early and I'm usually grouchy when I go in, but the staff always puts a smile on my face. When the new owner took over I was worried. This place was awesome!! I was surprised, it actually got WAY better, which I didn't think was possible. My husband and I stopped in for the first time early in the morning, just after opening, on a Saturday. Upon walking in, we were given a menu to look over. We decided on sharing a breakfast wrap and ordered two iced vanilla lattes. We found our way over to a table and sat down to wait for our order. There were a few customers already seated and a few more came in while we waited, which is a good sign to see at 6:15 in the morning. Unfortunately, we were soon disappointed, as the breakfast wrap we ordered just did not taste good. The flavors were off and the wrap was hard and extremely dry (stale?) to eat. We were both unable to finish our separate portions. The iced lattes were also disappointing and we also did not taste the vanilla flavor. The food at Bellachino's is to die for, especially breakfast. I tried the granola with yogurt and fruit and the piggly wiggly and I definitely have a new favorite. Both dishes were awesome! I'm not sure I'd agree that this place has "waiter service" as it's a walk up and order kinda place and the busing of tables is minimal at best. The staff is nice, but so busy you don't really get to interact with them much. We did visit on a Sunday around brunch time, so it's possible the place has a much different vibe at other times. For us, it was overwhelmingly busy. We had a big group, which was difficult to seat with seat yourself dining and a crowd of people. However, once we finally got the food and drinks, we were more than satisfied. My suggestion: go when they aren't busy as can be, get the granola, piggly wiggly, and try their hibiscus/ginger tea. Ordered the Brie LT and the Mozerella sandwich and split the two with my wife. The Brie LT was amazing!! Just as described, brie, bacon and fresh green goodies and tomato. Holy hell was that good! The Mozerella was delicious as well. The Pesto mayo really kicks off the Mozerella and artichoke fabulously! Agsin, fresh greens and tomato.
