Everything here was great! I ordered the butternut squash ravioli-it was a little sweet, but delicious. My companions got the spaghetti with Sicilian meatballs, pasta bolognese, and Mac and cheese. We ate here on a slow sunday evening, stopping in because it looked quaint and not too busy. The food was mediocre at best and the service left something to be desired. The free "rolls" were undercooked and the fried eggplant and zucchini tempura was soggy and very greasy. The eggplant parm was actually pretty good but there was only 1 thin slice of eggplant. The chicken marsala sauce tasted like jarred turkey gravy and had no marsala flavor at all. Our entrees took over 20 minutes to arrive after the apps were cleared. We ended up asking a manager for the bill after our waitress disappeared, and we had also asked another one who never brought it. We definitely will not be returning. read more

I can't say enough about Bellini! I am new to New York and wanted to take my mom out for dinner after a long day of walking around the city. We were greeted immediately by Scott the GM when we were browsing the menu. He convinced us to try the house ravioli and it was fantastic! The ambiance was wonderful, the service spot on and Scott was the best restaurant manager I have ever seen in action. He greeted everyone and really tried to make each experience a personalized one. Scott and his staff had a great deal of knowledge about the wine on the menu and made wonderful recommendations to go with our meal - of course after such a long day we started with a bottle of bubbly! I came here for brunch with some family members who were visiting the city. Wish I could say I loved it, but the Salmone Benedict I ordered was so-so. However, I ended up trying my cousin's French toast, which was pretty delicious. Too bad it was the smallest dish of the bunch. Though we were one of only two parties in the restaurant, one of the waitresses seemed a bit salty and wouldn't so much as nod at us when we asked for additional water or extra silverware. Nonetheless, the other wait staff were more agreeable, and the host who greeted us was lovely. I have mixed feelings about this place. While the servers were very attentive and our waitress was very helpful with the menu and in keeping our glasses full, our food took a lot longer than expected. We ordered only a pasta and a brunch crepe, the place had three other small tables besides ours, and it still took over a half hour for the food to arrive. I went to this fabulous place with my girlfriend for a dinner. Well this establishment serve good Italian food what so ever. As soon we saw the fresh bread placed on our table we knew we were in the right track. We ordered a glass of Pinot Grigio which tasted very good. For the dish we ordered the Chicken Marsala & Pasta fagioli which was fabulous. It tasted like the pasta i had in Rome that i never forget the taste of. Underwhelmed, I tried this place out of desperation for risotto. As I was previously disappointed with risotto from another place (it was more like rice soup). I called my order in a very friendly man who I presume is the owner took my order and I was informed that they couldn't deliver to my office (which is 10 blocks away), but I explained that it was fine for me to come pick up. There was a warm greeting from the guy I spoke to as soon as I walked in the establishment, cozy space with beautiful decor. I paid $27 for my risotto--which I wouldn't complain about if I felt it was worth it. My father (A retired chef) has always explained risotto although simple is extremely easy to screw up. Bellini's prepares one of their variations with white truffle oil, mushrooms, and sausage. Although the texture/consistency was almost perfect, the risotto was consumed by the oil, the choice of sausage clashed with the oil, and there was an abundance of mushrooms and onions which could've worked if the flavors were subtle. I give it 1 star for the customer service and 1 star for the interior aesthetic of the establishment. However, the meal was mediocre. If I do return, I guess I'll try the carbonara since everyone seems to rave about it. read more

Came here on Sat night-didnt have resos but were lucky enough to get a table as the place was packed for dinner rush. It was 4 of us so we got to try a lot from the extensive menu. For apps we had rice balls-this was my 1st time trying them ever and they are addictive! We also had calamari, which came with a nice selection of sauces, mussels, which were very good as the sauce was spicy, which is right up my alley, and finally the Siciliana pizza, which was unique and very flavorful. For entree we had stiffed pork chop and steak. Of the two, the pork chop was a star in my eyes-it was huge and oozing with cheese and just great flavor. Somehow we managed to have room for dessert and oh man! Presentation alone blew us away before we even tastes them. We got the warm chocolate cake, flan and fried cheesecake. Unfortunately I used to rave about this place, but will never do so again. I dined here once during restaurant week a few years ago and loved everything about it, from the ambiance to the food, but after dining there with 3 others on 12/1/12 I will never return. First of all, I made the reservation on Opentable and although I was not the first to check in, my other two friends came in and were seated after telling the manager the reservation was under my name. This morning I received an e-mail from Open table inquiring as to why I was a "no show" for my reservation. Second, I have never been humiliated/treated so badly by a manager (or possibly owner, he might have been one in the same) in my life. I was dining with two friends and my boyfriend, and not that it matters, but we are all in our late 20's. We brought our own wine, but only opened two bottles (not an excessive amount, one red and one white). Everything was going well until right before dessert. Two of us had finished eating earlier than the other half of the table and there was probably about a 15 minute lag time between when we told the waiters we were still working on our plates and when they came back to clear them. We didn't mind as we were enjoying our wine and conversation and soon after the waiters came and cleared the plates and brought the dessert menus. At this point we had been there for about an hour and fifteen minutes, but the last fifteen had been spent waiting for the table to be cleared. Right after the dessert menus were dropped off my boyfriend and I decided we wanted to split the Creme Brulee, The manager came over and asked if we were ready to place our dessert order, but we asked for a minute as we had barely been holding the menus for 30 seconds and the other half of our party had yet to decide. It was then that the manager told us "Well you can have a minute, but when the waiter comes back you must put in your order. We have many reservations tonight that are waiting and it is cold outside". We were also told (in so many words) that the limit on the BYOB is an hour and a half and that we would be unable to finish all of our wine. Had we been sitting at an empty table doing nothing but talking and drinking wine while people were waiting in the cold, I would completely understand this type of treatment. However, we were surrounded by tables occupied by parties that had been sitting as long as, if not LONGER than us, and we were the only table that was "reprimanded" in such a way. Not only that, but our table was next to the door and the manager's inability to tactfully get his message across meant that the surrounding tables all heard him. We were EXTREMELY uncomfortable for the rest of the meal and any fun we'd had before the incident was quickly negated. Considering we were spending over $150 for our meal, that treatment was completely unacceptable and I will never patronize or recommend this restaurant again. If you overbook as a manager that is your problem, not the customer's. We had barely been there an hour and a half, which is apparently the time limit for a meal at Bellini, and I was completely horrified considering I'd raved about the place AND placed the reservation myself. What makes me even angrier is the fact that I recommended this place to a group of coworkers who went during restaurant week. I regret every single penny I have spent, or allowed others to spend, at this establishment. I based my decision to go here for Valentine's day based off of pretty decent reviews and the fact that they had a decently priced menu. In short, we waited 45 minutes for food that was luke warm and way overcooked (lobster ravioli and capellini with clams) and 5+ couples got up and walked out either because they were not served, brought a bottle of wine and no cork screw, or they sat and never got a menu. And the waitstaff had the nerve to grill everyone about whether or not they had made a reservation. They should be lucky anyone was coming in at all. On top of that, their front door would get stuck open if swung too wide, which caused it to jam and let in 35 degree cold and windy weather. Myself and another patron had to take turns getting up from waiting for our food to close it. No one was happy. They were short staffed on one of the busiest restaurant days of the year, running around like crazy, and I mean, really running around - like table shaking tremors. Which was annoying. One couple sat for over 20 minutes before getting the check. Another couple came, sat down next to us for 20+ minutes, ordered Filet Mignon, waited another 10 min or so, then the waitress came back and said that they didn't have that tonight and to take a look at the menu again. You don't have Filet Mignon, which is on the menu, on Valentine's Day?! Are you kidding me? Anyway, they left after 30 minutes of pointless waiting around. The waitress tried to plea with them to stay and said it was because they were busy. How can you be busy when your customers are walking out the door by the masses? Anyway, we should have left when we could have, but we already felt so heavily invested in staying since we had been waiting nearly an hour for our food + the fact that i was Valentine's day and we hadn't made a reservation anywhere else as a backup. 45 minutes and 5 couples later, we finally get our food that is just warm and appeared have been sitting for a while because everything literally settled on the plate. The lobster ravioli (if you want to call it that) was way overcooked and consisted mostly of cheese. I couldn't douse it in enough pasta sauce to make it less dry. It also said it came with a pink sauce, and this was definitely a marinara. My Capellini was as salty as a salt lick (or what i would imagine a salt lick to taste like) and the clams were so overcooked i chewed on them for a good 3 minutes each, spitting out a couple that just wouldn't break down and leaving some others for trash. We decided to bounce asap and skip desserts. The waitstaff was incredibly fast to bring us our check! Woohoo! Needless to say i didn't want to pay or leave a tip at all, but hey, I'm a nice person - I can throw a couple bucks their way. After all they clearly need all the help they can get. They should be embarrassed about how they run their business. I don't see this place being here long. Its not even good italian food. In fact, they aren't even Italian! Everyone there was speaking Greek or something. What did we learn from this - When you start to see couples leaving by the masses, take a hint and leave. It's not worth your money. Beyond the food being incredible, this restaurant is the epitome of customer service. This proves that New Yorkers are indeed some of the nicest people in the world: My wife and I were dining outside when a delivery person at the restaurant accidentally spilled a bottle of soda on what we had left of our meals (one of the best sausage calzones I've had) and drinks. Despite my unnecessary reaction to the situation, not only did the restaurant give us a free dessert (an amazing creme brulee), but they did not give us a bill. I was uncomfortable leaving without paying something, so we negotiated $20 with the waiter, who was equally apologetic. Our puppy even got water and pepperoni during the night. Great neighborhood pizza place. Very cozy with excellent customer service. I've been here twice and had the same waiter. He's very accommodating with a great sense of humor and even fixed the wobbly leg of my table. The brick oven pizzas are pretty great. I recommend the large over the small size since the small was a bit dry. Not sure if it was because of the proportion of heat to bread but when I ordered the large, it came out perfect: crunchy crust with melted soft cheese. I love that it is byob. All the ingredients worked well together! - Chicken Marsala: satisfying - Canoli: standard but good - Cheesecake: would pass on. - Tiramisu: ok but not the best. (I grew up eating freshly made Tiramisu) - Chocolate Souffle: Very good! (I love chocolate after a meal) We quickly forgot about the first incident and we're happy we did because the service was GREAT! Especially for putting up with ten LOUD people. Aside from the excellent and attentive staff, who waited on us with kindness and professionalism, Bellini missed the mark on everything we ordered. We started with the calamari misto which was basically a Long John's Silver platter of fried seafood- only more rubbery. My wife's squash raviolis were served in a strange chicken broth - with no flavor whatsoever. She had to add salt. Oofa. My penne vodka was overly sweet, the pasta was overdone, and the pancetta was rubbery with no crispness whatsoever. Top that off with prices that exceed even the best UWS restaurants and you get quite a disappointing night. Maybe we should have just done pizza? Decided to try again after bad service (no service) last year & walked out. Was greeted by the manager Scott who seated us in the back portion as he said they were cleaning up the front part after a large party. The server came & was pleasant. When telling us their specials we couldn't hear her because they had the music really loud. We asked if it could be lowered. We ordered a bottle of wine & it got louder. We asked to move to the front half which was empty. We ordered the rigatoni pasta with gorgonzola sauce & the angel hair pasta with salmon. My boyfriend and I have been coming here since we moved to the neighborhood a year ago. It's so hard to find a cozy spot in NYC that can offer laid-back date nights without over-crowding, but Bellini has both. Every time we visit, the food is consistently great, and the service is friendly. Sule and Lucy always greet us with warm smiles, and make us feel so welcome. This is a great neighborhood place for italian food. The owners have changed and they updated the decor and hired a new chef. What a positive difference from the old Bellini! The servers were attentive and the food came out within a reasonable time. On to the food review: The pizza was delicious - italian style (not a goopy nyc cheese bomb). During a recent trip to NYC we decided to try this place out after reading some reviews online, we were not disappointed. The food was excellent, the service was excellent and the prices were unexpectedly cheap, considering where it's located. The atmosphere was relaxed and casual but not so much that it felt cheap or gimmicky. The restaurant itself is not large by any means but they make great use of the space. Some places put tables so close together that it's often hard to enjoy yourself or even have a semi private conversation, but not at Bellini. The manager, Scott Mark Brown, really set this place above the rest. He was attentive to each customer who was in the restaurant but not in a overbearing manner. He even took the time to go outside and point out directions to the closest subway. Often times you either don't see the manager or see too much of them. Overall, this place ranks in the top 5 for me personally and will definitely be frequenting when I'm in town. read more

What a lovely 'homey' restaurant. After a nice long walk in central park, we decided on Italian and we weren't disappointed. The thin crust pizza was fresh, delicious and different than any other I've tried, very gourmet ...the branzino was superb. Their salads were fresh we had the caprese and the beet salad, haven't had a good beet salad in a while this was amazing. The staff was attentive, they answered all my questions about the pizza and the menu and the service was pretty quick. Prices were on point as well. I would come back here with the kids and definitely try the burger sliders next time. I saw someone ordering from another table and they looked fantastic.
