First of all, we had one of the best chefs we've ever had Justin! Believe me, we've been to Benihana in five different states, and Justin is hands down the best. This restaurant is clean, very open, and has beautiful décor. The teppanyaki table we were seated at was spotless. We ordered all of our favorites, and everything was absolutely delicious. We did have one situation come up, but Ken and Jasmine were both incredibly professional and took care of us above and beyond our expectations. Though the restaurant was busier than usual for a Wednesday evening, due to numerous graduation celebrations, our party of 7 was seated quickly and on-time for our 5:30pm reservation. Drink orders were promptly taken followed by our dinner orders, with plenty of help from our informative and helpful server (I wish I caught her name!) Next up, the star of the show...K.C. All the way from the island of Oahu, he brings an exciting new experience to the table. Being seasoned hibachi diners, we've seen all of the classic "tricks" on the grill. *yawn* It was a refreshing change from the norm with K.C. preparing our meal. We visited on March 23rd to celebrate with our family after our wedding, expecting a fun and memorable experience. Unfortunately, it turned out to be anything but that. We made reservations a full month in advance, yet when we arrived, we waited over 30 minutes just to be seated. After finally sitting down, our server took our drink order but then disappeared. No one checked on our table for over an hour. Meanwhile, tables seated well after us were already receiving appetizers and attentive service. After waiting far too long, we asked to speak with a manager. Only then did things start moving, though slowly our appetizers still took another 15 minutes to arrive. The chef was then rushed to our table and clearly wasn't informed about how long we had been waiting. Through no fault of his own, he hurried through preparing our food and skipped the usual show that's a key part of the experience. Because of the pressure, mistakes started happening. He accidentally dropped a bowl of butter onto my father's shoes. After cooking, he attempted to do the "show" portion, but it felt rushed and out of place since the food was already done. Things got worse when he began cleaning the grill something caught on the scraper, causing hot oil and food debris to splash onto my wife. It ruined her dress and even caused a burn that resulted in a blister. All of this happened while nearby tables who arrived after us were enjoying their meals and having a great time, which made the experience even more frustrating. When the manager returned, the only resolution offered was $60 off a future visit, which felt completely inadequate given what happened. We have no intention of returning after this experience. To be fair, the chef seemed to be the only person making any effort under difficult circumstances. However, the service staff appeared disengaged, and the overall lack of management was evident. Benihana has been a family birthday tradition for years, and this visit meant even more to us. Last year was our last birthday celebration with our son, Alex, who passed away just under a year ago. As we were leaving, I asked for a sign that he was with us in spirit. we noticed immediately our Chefs name was Alex, and we all just smiled and looked at each other. We quickly nicknamed him "Shrimp Shady." He brought laughter, warmth, and joy to our table and made the night feel truly special. Thank you, Chef Alex, for giving our family a beautiful memory. They did nothing for it, no song or anything (we saw them do it for another table). The server got our orders and never came back until I had to flag someone down near the end of our meal because everyone's glasses had been sitting empty. The cook didn't do any special show- egg toss to people, saki pour, etc. They charged $8 extra if you want friend rice instead of steamed. Considering how expensive this place was, I cannot believe the service they allowed. Whoever is managing needs to rethink how they're running this place. They filled all the tables, as I looked around most tables had empty drinks. If they don't have staff they shouldn't be filling the tables up. We got seated after our reservation time The waiter Jadon kept forgetting drinks and stuff we asked for. Barely checked on us and i had to ask other employees for water or things. Had to tell employees three times we needed GF salad and soup. They don't have enough chefs or the schedule was messed up, we didn't get a chef for almost two hours. No one told us that there would be a longer wait and no one told us they were behind. So everyone around us was complaining, heard tables would walk out because of the wait. Soooo excited to try the Benihana experience for the first time ever. While the show was a pleasantry, the food was A HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT! The waiter AND COOK were both informed CLEARLY I do not eat red meat. As the presentation began, the cook was reminded I DO NOT EAT "red meat or pork". The cook joked "no pork here, only beef". was reassured my food would be cooked 1st! Well IT WAS'NT! Fire starts flaming, vegetables start roasting and my chicken gets diced and turned WITH THE SAME cooking utensils AS THE STEAK ordered by parties around the table. And not just the chicken...SO DOES THE MUSHROOMS which the cook offered to me! I recently made a reservation for my birthday. Thankfully, I was looking at reviews, including menu pricing, online. Over a six year period, the price of the dish I normally get increased 47%! Incase anyone doesn't know or is interested, the average increase is 3-5% a year. Nearly 50% increase is ridiculous!! I cancelled my reservation and made one at their competitors instead. What strange experience! Hubby and I decided to finally use the $30 birthday coupon that was going to expire in a couple days. Didn't feel like having teppanyaki so we sat at the bar/dining area to get some sushi. We went around 5PM and there was just one other person sitting at the bar. I actually counted and there were 8 employees including the 3 cooks. It was so very strange to watch 3 employees in particular chit chatting with each other and on their phones the entire time. I've never seen anything like this at other restaurants! Hubby commented apparently the manager doesn't care as he's walked by several times. At the end of our meal, the manager was by our table so against hubby's wishes, I asked him if he was the manager. He replied he was one of them. I told him about his employees on their cell phones and chatting instead of working and he replied that they do use their phones a lot! He then corrected himself and stated the managers do use their phones. I told him I have never seen anything like it and I can't believe they're still in business. He then stated he's only been working here for 2 months and it's definitely the most laid back place he has worked at!! Wow just wow. Now, about the food: we ordered the nigiri assortment $32 which came with 10 pieces of nigiri with miso soup and salad. The nigiri were very small with a lot more rice than fish, and the taste was meh. Salad was your average Asian salad with ginger dressing. The miso soup was lukewarm and the seaweed was not fully cooked. Very disappointing. Spicy tuna roll $12.50 was mediocre and hubby said I can make much better. Chili ponzu yellowtail roll $20 was just ok as well. For the food they offer, the prices are way too high. Overpriced menu, meh food and apathetic employees...definitely don't recommend and this is our last time here. There are so many better options around here. read more

Sad to see how far this place has fallen. Upon entering & waiting for our table, I started noticing how filthy the place was. Even the front desk had a layer of dust away from the side of the greeter. See the photos to see the filth that was apparent from the waiting area. I suggest a manager go sit there & open their eyes! The front area also needed a layer of paint on the furniture & desk which was quite scratched & missing chunks of paint. I wanted to leave because I can't believe the kitchen looks much better, but it was somebodys birthday. Food was good, but I will never go there again after it being a favorite special occasion place. Our meal for two was more than $150 before tip(only one drink & no appetizers). We went tonight to celebrate my husband's birthday and to use his birthday points. Our reservation was at 4:30, we waited maybe 10-15 minutes to be seated. Our food order was taken at 5. This was fast for them tonight as we usually have to wait a half hour over our reservation time to get seated and about another 15-30 minutes before a server even gets to the table. Now, this place was recently bought out by the one group who seems to have changed a lot of things up and not in a good way. The tables used to be set up for 8 people, now they have 10 chairs squeezed in and when I say squeezed that's what it is. You are literally rubbing elbows, arms, feet.. everything with strangers sitting on top of you. There is absolutely no room to even move in a comfortable way to eat without you constantly hitting the person next to you. This was a bad move on the companies part. My husband and I were seated first and then they brought a part of 7 to the table. First thing they did was look around trying to figure out how everyone was going to sit, it was not a pretty sight watching everyone cram in. I also saw another table next to us doing the same thing, the look on one woman's face was priceless watching her trying to figure out how to sit. When we were first seated the hostess didn't seem to know what she was doing. Our table hadn't been set up so she was throwing paper napkins around to all the spots along with chopsticks. Lol, she threw 4 down next to my husband. Right after that a guy came over, picked up all the paper napkins around, straighten out the menus and placed cloth napkins down in all the spots, it was like a comedy show. Our server came and took our drink order and I asked about the seating for 10 instead of 8 and all she said was we seat 10 at a table. Honey, I'm not stupid, I've been coming here for 20 years and it's always been 8 until recently. She pretty much just rolled her eyes. We had Blanca as our chef, she was just ok, she did not put on a "show". Pretty much just cooked the food and that was about it. Barely talked, didn't toss shrimp tails in her hat etc. I understand each chef does something a little different but we had 2 kids sitting at the table who had never been there before along with 6 others who hadn't, at least give them a good experience. I always get the samari treat dinner but this time I opted to get just the steak fried rice 2 servings so I could take some home. I asked the chef if she could cook my steak medium rare and she says, you're only getting rice and I said, I know but I want the steak medium rare and not well done. She did it how I asked and it was nice and tender. My husband got the trio, he said his steak was a little more done than the medium he asked for. The chef also brought out the onions and zucchini all chopped up and mixed together, I know they do this for lunch but not for dinner. When it's done like this the vegetables don't get cooked all the way through, plus I always skip the zucchini and just take the onions, no option to do this when they are all mixed together. Zucchini, onions and mushrooms, all were not cooked fully and still partially raw. I had one drink refill and I noticed others at our table also sat with empty glasses. Having 9 people at our table seemed like it overwhelmed both the server and the chef. Our server brought out the bills as soon as the chef left the table while we were still all in the middle of eating, then on top of it all we had to keep asking her for things that were supposed to come with our dinner but she wasn't offering them. We had to ask for the green tea, if the menu says green tea comes with the meal then bring it out, don't wait for the guests to ask for it. We would also not have gotten the ice cream that comes with the dinner if we had not asked for that either. Just not a good experience this time. read more

Despite having a reservation on a weeknight, it took almost an hour to seat our party, even as they let other customers go ahead of ours. The restaurant was loud, the hosts weren't welcoming and clearly undertrained and overwhelmed with the dinner rush. After we were finally seated at the table, it took 30 minutes for our server to take orders and deliver drinks and another hour before the hibachi chef began cooking. Although he was as friendly as he could be, his novice skill level was obvious. He dropped his utensils several times, flicked food accidentally all over the place, and was quite slow getting all the table's order cooked. He could not remember anyone's orders for the life of him. He literally flicked oil at my husband and onto his shirt while cooking. The food was as also not well-seasoned and really tasted sub-par. Our dinner from start to finish took over 3 hours before we left. My family was getting quite hangry just waiting to finally eat. This isn't our first time with a poor experience at this restaurant location. I will certainly not be returning and I would caution you to lower your expectations of what to expect when paying for a $300 meal for a family. The place got busier and busier as we waited I finally spoke to a manger and they seated us. The server than proceeded to tell us that we would prob not eat for another 40 mins as they were behind. They offered us free salad that already comes with the meal for waiting. I asked if we could get some free drinks or appetizers and are appetizer and they said no. We left. We had a reservation for dinner on Father's Day at 5:45 PM. We were told they were "backed up" and there was a 45 minute wait. That 45 minute wait turned into an hour and 20 minutes, then another 30 minutes until the chef finally reached our table. I know it was busy due to the holiday, but that long of a wait is unacceptable. The food was okay and there was plenty of it, but the show by the chef is the same one they've done for years. I was a little bored with it (maybe because I was annoyed at the wait), but other members of our party seemed to enjoy it. What a disappointment. Gluten and soy allergy. No gluten free soy sauce was used at all. They did not have the gluten free option for miso soup mentioned on the website for gluten and soy allergies. The onion didn't even taste like onion, but had the flavor of the oil. He did prep my meal first, but the zucchini lacked the char that the other diners had with their meal. I would have appreciated a second salad.. Our chef was funny and entertaining, he was lots of fun, but the meal did not live up to expectations based on other diner's experiences. I asked for lemon with my water, and it was never brought/ I was the only one to order tea at the end of dinner, but I didn't receive that either. We were seated an hour and 15 minutes passed our reservation, but thought the gluten and soy options would be used. I was looking forward to a flavorful meal I' did eat the entire meal, because I was very hungry. The most Flavorful dish was the sauce that I poured over my white rice. Making reservations is easy at this restaurant but getting a table even with your reservation is impossible! We had a reservation for 6:00 and arrived on time. Stood in a 5 minute line to check in. Was told reservations are running 15 minutes behind. Our name was finally called at 7:00 pm after standing in a crowded, dirty, no place to sit waiting area with a million other people. Horrible communication between the check in desk and guests. Even saw two people fighting with each other to get to the front of the check in line because it was such chaos. Walking to the table you could tell the restaurant itself was dirty and over crowded. Sat for a good 10 minutes before a waitress came over and then sat for another 10 minutes before we got our drinks, ice water with lemon, arrived. Waitress was nice and friendly but talked fast and very soft so you had no clue was she was saying or what you just agreed to order with your meal. In fact the chef while cooking had to change multiple orders at our table because of bad communication between waitress and guests. Chef was a great. Food was okay, nothing fancy or amazing for the price you pay. Ended up taking my daughter to the restroom about 10 minutes into the chef cooking which was a disaster. Restroom was filthy, one stall broken and one out of toilet paper that the workers couldn't seem to resolve. This meant one stall working in the women's restroom with a line out the door and my food cold and tough by the time I got back to the table to eat. Finally left the restaurant 2.5 hours after our reservation time and completely disappointed. Definitely not the $250 Benihana's experience we were expecting.
