Starting us off with the welcoming.

No matter what anyone says, this is a wonderful place to eat. It takes patience because the wait is long. But that's because everyone wants to eat here. It's a fun, entertaining, playful environment. Ricky was our chef. He was welcoming, playful, inviting, and truly a wonderful chef. I'll be sending him a thank you card.

I enjoying stopping in to grab fried rice to enjoy at home. This Thursday night is busy with Birthday parties at the hibachi grill tables. Everyone singing the birthday song of course I sang along. They have added hibachi burritos to the menu and they've several promotions I've received via email. That's what brung me here this evening.

Was shopping in Chandler Mall, and got super delayed, couldnt make reservations so just walked up to the receptionist and wanted to check if they took walk ins. Luckily it was just the two of us and it was around 8:30pm. Well, never been here, so this was a hit or miss for us. Heard alot of mixed reviews of this place. I think it also counts with the chef that you get. the chef we got, Chef Ricky was fantastic. There was only another couple on our table, but, we had a ball of a time, the chef was fun and very interactive. I, unfortunately have developed shellfish and egg allergies and everyone else had ordered egg fried rice, but, the chef was very innovative and made a special garlicy sauce for the steamed rice i was given. the A5 wagyu was cooked to perfection. I was provided with options of tofu or extra veggies, the tofu was spectacular! Over all quite a good experience for last minute walk in! Do try their sherbet ice cream and their dragon fruit cocktail as well.

Bartender Jade is such a sweetheart! She modified the dirty bowl mocktail for me so that I could order it less sweet. I was here with a group of five with friends in from out of town and we had a wonderful lunch experience! I ordered my usual Hibachi Steak rare, always love the soup and salad and all the fixins that come with lunch! Our Hibachi chef one was fantastic, so friendly funny in personable. Our server was a bit impatient and kept interrupting our conversations and over explaining things which we all found a bit off-putting. She also kept getting in the way of the photos we were trying to take with the kids with the onion volcano and it felt like she was rushing us out as soon as the meal was over so my only suggestion would be to be a bit more attentive to the dynamics of a group. We did very much appreciate the photos that were taken of the Benihana memory. Overall it was still a great experience.

The restaurant is fairly large, and seems like a lot of people like coming here for family/friend dinners. Like the name insists, the teppanyaki is the way to go. Their menu isn't that large, so it was pretty easy to make a decision. I opted for the filet mignon (rare) along with shrimp. Teppanyaki is really more of a show/experience, so the food comes out to you in sections (versus all at once like at a traditional restaurant). The filet was so soft, and was perfectly rare, and the shrimp was so good. I think in the future I'd eat a whole plate of shrimp. I also got to try the yakiniku, and that was also pretty good but very sweet. Their Boo Yah Ka roll was also pretty yummy. It's essentially a spring roll, but with some spice and citrus to it. I felt that the portion was good for a large meal, but my friend who got the chef's combo definitely had enough for leftovers.

We arrived a little early, so they told us we could sit at the bar & have a drink. We sat there for 15+ minutes & the girl getting things ready for the bar totally ignored us. Right before we were seated someone else took our drink order & said she'd bring them to the table. Hubby got a beer & I got a Tito's & cranberry juice. We ordered an appetizer. While we were waiting they sat another 4 with us. We all expected dinner & a "show", but none of us expected the show we got. One of the staff started screaming at another staff member. We had no idea what the female staff member was saying since her words were not in English. She was so loud & screaming in the bar area so the entire restaurant could hear her. A couple of staff members tried to claim her dow. This went on for several minutes. It was crazy. All us customers were silent & just looking at the girl screaming & yelling. The next thing we know, round two. It was unbelievable. What was even crazier was they didn't send the staff member home! No one came over & said a word. No one apologized or said anything. After all of this, they sat couple with us. Finally the chef came to the table. By this time it was 20 til 6:00. Hubby got the filet with fried rice. I got the shrimp with fried rice. The food was good. However, hubby's steak was over cooked. Thankfully, hubby told the chef he wanted to change the steak from medium to medium rare, or it would have been even more over cooked. I also watch all of the employees but one prepping the food without gloves. This used to be our go to place for, but now with all this issues this time, we will probably have to find a new place.

Well our turn finally comes, we get seated, order drinks, then get told we have to wait again, now because the "grill has to heat up." Understandable. I should add, this is not our first time visiting. We've visited a few times before and had pretty pleasant and efficient experiences. Nevertheless, the cook finally gets to our station after about 35-40 minutes of us checking in for your reservation. The place was pretty empty when we arrived, so it was a bit quiet of a vibe initially. From our previous experiences here and at other hibachi/teppan restaurants the cook does a great job of performing some tricks, having some fun, and incorporating us. Not this time around. It was a very rushed and very mundane. Once the cook finally finished cooking, the portions seemed smaller than we recall and the food was fine. Our bill ended up being $520, which is reasonable considering the 19% gratuity was included. It was not reasonable based on the experience as a whole. I look forward to Kobe Teppan & Sushi making the necessary changes to improve the experience for other guests.

It's not really just squid legs had other parts of squid which I didn't mind. It tasted pretty good with slight crisp to it.. Batter had some seasoning which made it tastier. Then my ramen came.. Looked pretty good but portion looked small. But then again for costing $14 can't complain. Broth was nice and hearty and I couldn't quite figure out the flavor. Then I read the description and it said sesame.. Then it made little more sense of the flavor. I definitely would not call it spicy. Ramen noodle was nice and chewy just the way I like it.. Only thing I didnt like was the pork. It was not bad but I prefer the fatty melt in your mouth kind with my ramen. Over all the food was pretty darn good and price was on point.
