Was excited to try this place based on reviews and it was down the street from our place. We went today and it was not overly busy. It was weird there is no big menu posted. They have flavors listed on one paper near the register and another on the counter with their various mochas. The first problem was ordering. My partner gave the order, the barista started talking to another barista so he had to give the order again. I ordered a butter pecan iced latte- pretty sure there was no flavoring added and the coffee in general tasted bad, it was pretty bitter. Even my partner that drinks black coffee though it was bad. His mocha was good, but crazy sweet and didn't come with the chocolate drizzle on top as the menu indicated. We got lucky and snagged a table just as our drinks were done, it was crowded, but not packed. The next issue were the flies! Not sure if its where we sat or what, but the flies were constantly landing on the table and the drinks. We also got a pastry (pre-packaged) and it was stale. We did like the crowd that was there, very relaxed and not overly filled with hipsters or the usually tourist of south congress. The overall vibe inside was meh, all dull and muted colors, no vibrancy or "warm" coffee shop feeling- may be because they're open 24hours a day. Probably wouldn't go back, there are several other coffee shops within a few blocks that are better as far as drink flavor, service, and vibe. read more

Good coffee, good breakfast tacos, they are open 24/7 which is crazy but awesome! Located on the corner of riverside and S. Congress, same parking lot as Wells Fargo. This is really close to where I live so very convenient. I also love that they have lavender flavor for the drinks. You can usually find a parking spot but there have been a few occasions where it was full. read more

Definitely the coffee shop on congress that a lot of people go to study and work on their laptops. It's open 24/7 and they have a good selection of drinks. Lots of places to sit, but it is usually very packed. There is also an outdoor area. If I come at night and don't need caffeine I order the Texas Gold tea lathe. I prefer coming in at night, it's a chill vibe and they usually have good music playing. Glad this coffee shop is here on Congress and open 24/7! read more

FIrst of all.... A COFFEE PLACE THAT IS OPEN 24 HOURS. Why doesn't this exist in every city?!?! If this coffee shop existed closer to my work, I would need a frequent flyer card because of how often I would be coming in here. (I work graveyard on the weekends, and Starbucks is definitely closed by then). Not to mention, when it comes to coffee.... I am a disgrace. I don't like black coffee and I'm not a hot coffee person. I am more of a dessert coffee kind of gal. All I can say is... their frappuccinos... are hands down.... better than Starbucks. Absolutely delicious and amazing. I literally come here once a week and never get tired of it. Their banana walnut loaf and Moby Dick coffee are the bomb and their tacos with ranch salsa are great. I'm a student at UT and love that this coffee shop 24/7! I think the food and drink options are great. I think the lighting is great. I think the seating is great. However, being in a coffee shop to mainly study and be here late in the night, the music throws me off. Rock, Metal, and other intense music is played and it's just awkward. It's not the type of coffee shop vibe you expect to get. Maybe it's the preference of the workers but it just upsets the study vibe coffee shop. When studying, it's distracting. Although I was only in Bennu Coffee for about 15 minutes, I immediately wished they had a location in Oklahoma City. The first thing to note is that there's a lot of room inside. We might have come in during peak hours because nearly every one of their 30-something tables had someone occupying it. Despite it being so full, it was surprisingly quiet. I think it might've been midterm week or something because it looked like every table had a student studying for some kind of test. We ordered a bunch of Pride & Prejudices (prejudi?) and a couple of cold brews to combat the Central Texas heat. Both drinks tasted great and were served fairly quickly. The staff was friendly as well. We had a fairly large order and they completed it without batting an eye. What I'm just now realizing is that Bennu Coffee is open 24 hours! The closest thing we have to that in Oklahoma City is IHOP, which makes me sad. To the owners of Bennu Coffee: come to Oklahoma City. Most coffee shops here are open only until 9. Met a friend here for coffee at 1030 AM on a Friday and parking was a hot mess. I parked in a super tiny spot down near Freebirds, but luckily saw a larger spot in front of Bennu open up a few seconds later. I got a vanilla latte which was very tasty. The only complaint I have is that they don't call out names with the order, but rather just shout your order which led someone else to grab my drink and then the barista got mad at the situation, which was kind of uncomfortable, but what can ya do. Cute little coffee place that we visited while we are in Austin. They have a nice selection of coffees and they are open 24/7 which is a perk. They have plenty of dairy free options and their double espresso won the gold while I was there. It was rich, full, and without the bitter taste I have experienced at other coffee joints. I LOVE their matcha latte and their tacos from Taco Deli are delicious. Their salsas are out of this world. I only gave three stars because this morning they had a new barista and she got my usual order wrong, gave me the wrong kind of salsa. Great coffee and nice cozy environment, but would recommend replacing all the bulbs in the chandeliers and light fixtures over the seating areas since they are super bright (hurts your eyes at daytime) and have a faded color. One has already been replaced but with a similarly bright but still clinical daylight white (looks like 6000K color temp ) LED which doesn't suit the cozy environment. A better choice for these fixtures at a pretty low cost would be a consistent 2700K or 3300K color temperature LED bulb which would be a nicer warm white color that's a lot less bright (probably 600-800 lumens would work) with a frosted coat so it doesn't bother people seeing them. read more

I was lucky to find Bennu Coffee and really enjoyed the coffee since I was on vacation visiting the area and I really didn't know where I was going to be able to find a decent place to do my school work and get my caffeine fix. I tried the Mexican mocha without the whipped cream and I stayed there to drink it and enjoyed the peace and quiet of everyone else getting their studying in whilst we enjoyed our snacks. They also had a gluten free cookie that was decent as well and since I was extra hungry, I decided to treat myself. Was a little dry but the coffee made up for it. Should I find myself in this area of Austin, I would come here again and try a different drink. Overall, very good experience here! read more

So I'm pretty much sugar free, meaning I don't add any to my coffee either. Instead I prefer to add heavy cream which is almost impossible to find a coffee shop that accommodates such a request. The best most places can do is half&half which is a poor substitute. But Bennu came through! Not only did they have heavy cream on hand, but they steamed it up in my cafe au lait. Found this place on the first day of our two day stay, and lived it so much we came back a second time. I ordered the Dog Quixote based on the reviews on here and loved it. The staff are super nice . On or first visit we tried the Greek Hoboken pie and the next day we ordered a spinach Tamale and a blueberry scone. Great little coffee nook that you can tell is very loved. Lots of space, tables, chairs and mismatched bar stools. You'll always find students and professionals camped out with headphones in and laptops up. There is a great selection of delicious sugary coffee drinks, which is really the only way I take them! Lots of treat options in the case as well, which I haven't tried. Vegan and gluten free diners will enjoy the selection, I'd think. Baristas get your drinks out quick and they're a pretty good price and value. The parking lot is a bit tricky to maneuver in, very thin lanes and spots. Staff is friendly and helpful. read more

I found this location better more pleasant than its flagship on MLK. Maybe because it's seen less wear and tear, but it's brighter and infinitely less grungy than the original. Things I love: Lighting is not too dim, but not blaringly bright. There's a parking lot (a plus from someone used to driving away from the original because I could never find parking). It's not the college crowd. The menu is still literature references. The furniture is not uniform. And...the seats are comfortable. The service is great as always. It's open 24/7. Things I didn't love as much: It's chilly inside - even on a chilly day. Food options are still not that great - some Fricanos sandwiches and pastries. Nevertheless, I would cross the river to get here. Definitely on my list of favorite coffee joints in town. It definitely didn't disappoint and is an upgrade from its flagship. read more

I love Bennu - my wife and I have been going to the MLK store for years, and we're thrilled that there's one in South Austin - much more convenient for us and our friends, who are ready-made regulars. We love everything about the place: the Texas Coffee Trader's coffee, the food, the vibe - except for one thing: both bathrooms are labeled unisex, which is great for the one holer on the right, but the one the on the left has two stalls - so there could be someone you weren't expecting in the stall next to you. This is weird, even for me and my lefty-liberal aging hippie friends. Seems like calling the left one "women only" and the right one "unisex" fulfills Austin city statutes, potty parity, American expectations of privacy and just about any set of conditions you can think of. if guys are tiffed about occasionally waiting for the bathroom, they get a moment to reflect on how rare that experience is. My two cents. Still looking forward to the next time we can be there and hear what everybody's been up to. read more

Austin's newest 24/7 coffee shop opened May 12th. Bennu bought out Dominican Joe's and is in the same location. It's spectacular. They painted and replaced most if not all the furniture; it's a great assortment of different sized tables that aren't too crowded together. I'm writing this review after midnight, and since it's such a new shop, it's gloriously quiet with such a great 80s synthpop playlist going (Shout, Sweet Dreams, etc) that I don't even want to bother with wearing headphones. Plus, with not a lot of people fighting for bandwidth, the wifi is great. However, given its proximity to downtown and SoCo, it's bound to become a busy spot. If you liked DJ's, no worries. All the baristas were offered to stay and before the transition, they told me that Bennu was going to keep supporting the coffee plantation/school in the DR that DJ was all about. My favorite drink is the Iced Bennu. But, I always order a vanilla latte w/ almond milk as a benchmark. And man, that new espresso machine is legit. It was a nicely robust roast with a good amount of foam and no burnt almond taste. It had a smooth taste that wasn't overly sweet and came out at a drinkable temperature. Huge plus. The food assortment isn't as large as Monkey Nest, but the pizza slices are pretty popular. In the time that I've been here, about half the people have ordered some. Some recommendations for improvement are to get lights on the patio and to figure out how to get electricity to tables that aren't adjacent to a wall. Also, I'm a little weirded out by the unisex multi-stall restrooms. Just sayin'. Anyway, congrats on the expansion Bennu. I plan on coming back a lot. read more

Really strong cappuccino with great foam!!! $3.50 for a large. Traditional chai latte was also great; finally somewhere that offers one that isn't too sweet. $3.25 for a small (was actually really big). If you get the drinks to stay they use mugs, less waste :-) I recommend the pumpkin muffin as well. The place is big, ambiance is nice, lovable oldies were playing, large tables, seemed like lots of outlets. A good place to get work done. Friendly barista! I came here because a former Austinite told me she will occasionally drive 3 hours back to Austin for Bennu's coffee. That is a lot of pressure for an establishment to live up to, but with such a heavy recommendation, how could I not try it out? Their honey cream latte is amazing and I'm now considering moving to Austin so I can live at Bennu. You think I'm joking but they're 24-hour so.... I got the latte with almond milk and it was good - usually I find almond milk adds a noticeable nutty aftertaste to drinks, but I didn't taste it with my drinks here, which was kind of nice. They also sell vegan cookies that were just as good as regular cookies, and they have a really delicious but super rich and decadent homemade peanut butter cup. Definitely will be coming back again to try more of their foods next time! read more
