I'm giving a five-star review for the fact that you are open 24 hours and your night crew is awesome. I did have a problem today Sunday morning though. I hate to drop people under the bus because I'm in this industry too for the time being but I had a really bad incident there. Backstory I go to school during the day so I can come to this place a lot at night because it is open 24 hours. I do have a scooter when it's folded down it's probably about 8 inches high 30 inches long I always put it underneath the table you know it's always out of the way it's never been a problem never been a problem. So I go in there today I have got a ton of homework to do ,.do by 12:00 tonight I figured I was going to probably be there till 12:00 tonight. So soon as I come in there you know I'd start folding down my scooter and some guy on a computer sitting down is like hey man you can't bring that in here and I'm like excuse me he's like no you can't bring that in here and I was like bringing here all the time it's you know coming at night. And he immediately just gets up he's like no you can't bring that in here and by that time I'm starting to get a little irate and I was like f you and when I said that he identified himself then as a manager not before but then. I told him straight out it's like listen man I bring in here all the time I put it underneath the table you tried to say it's a fire hazard I was like it's underneath the table I know what a fire hazard is I've managed plenty of places. Thent he accuses me of being homeless and going to call the police on me and by that time I was just like you're a freaking prick and I left. Like I said I don't like to throw anybody under the bus but he was just such a condescending a hole to me. I even tried to explain to him that the reason I don't like locking my scooter outside is because thieves go around with bolt cutters and they will cut that and it's a pretty valuable scooter I have. I really just wanted to work on my homework in peace. Other than that I love the place it's so awesome especially being open 24 hours it's so great. read more

Came here after a long walk at Lady Bird and it was definitely a yummy treat. I didn't order any coffee at this place but I got their blueberry muffin and it was soooo good! It had this sweet crumble around the muffin and the blueberries were a burst of flavor. I loved the environment of this coffee shop. I was walking as a visitor for the first time to Austin and happen to see this coffee shop. Upon walking in, the two baristas just looked at me as if I didn't belong. Didn't greet me or ask me what I wanted. Sorry, but none of the pastries looked appealing they actually looked stale. I'm glad I didn't purchase anything. I went down the street to a better restaurant. Maybe others are used to subpar service, but I wouldn't let that slide. A big thumbs down I am also confused by the good reviews. Don't waste your money or time here. I hope there are better coffee shops near by but it may not be that is why they get away with stuff but maybe go down the street to sour duck ‍ read more

I was driving through town looking for a coffee shop. Stumbled across this one. They have a lot of mochas. Maybe that's their speciality? Maybe that's where I went wrong. I ordered the iced Bennu. Said it was similar to a iced Vietnamese coffee? With evaporated milk and sugar. I was pretty bummed it tasted like fake sugar. Had that weird after taste in your mouth after each sip. I was all ready to come on here and give Bennu Coffee a 4* review after stopping in on a Friday night to have an espresso. It was pretty good! But tonight, Saturday, I went back and decided to try their regular coffee. It wasn't hot enough. I didn't realize until after I left, so nothing the staff could have done. Staff seems super friendly so I'm sure they would have figured something out to help me, but it's pretty disappointing to get a coffee and have it not be the proper temperature. I know it was 8pm and there's not a lot of black coffee being sold, so they probably hadn't brewed it in awhile. But a 24 hour coffee shop should be constantly brewing new coffee or using properly insulated containers, which I felt like it wasn't. I hope it's just an isolated incident, but I have a feeling if it's nighttime their coffee just won't be hot unless I happen to come in right after it's brewed. Hopefully the owner can address this oversight. read more

Some of my best and most thoughtful work started here before launching my business. On a 'study date' with a girlfriend, We hunkered down- laptop to laptop - focusing on our goals and how to achieve them. This was the nice sort of hipster environment with slightly rundown furniture, that I like to be in when getting real work accomplished. Yes!! As for "the eats," I had a beefy hot dog wrapped in a pretzel and a tamale. I let staff choose the flavor of tamale as I had enough decisions to make already and was "in the zone" typing like wild fire by the time I was hungry. Would recommend everything here! read more

Great coffee - open for to go and the baristas are really nice. There is cool, thought provoking artwork inside to look at while you wait. They had someone outside making sure we were registered to vote and I really appreciated that. Went to Bennu's on Saturday around 5ish, only pickup is available, no dine in yet, ample parking, you have go inside, it would have been nice if they had a drive thru/pickup window. No one was there other than a lady behind the counter, we ordered cappuccino, coffee and frappe. I wanted a frappe without any coffee/caffeine, when asked, got to know they add cold brew coffee to all oF there frappe, but lady at the barista made it without it for my kid. My husband liked his coffee, my kid frappe but cappuccino was a disaster, it had a weird after taste, way too bitter, dunno it was there beans, roasting or overly extracted espresso but couldn't drink more than 2sips. Let me preface this review by saying, I'm NOT a coffee person. Coffee all tastes the same to me, no matter the additives. But I came here with my spouse last year as a spur of the moment, after dinner treat. Yknow, the cup of coffee we as Hispanics drink after dinner. But anyways, we took some friends there and since it was in the middle of winter, a hot cup of coffee was exactly what we wanted. But ever since, we continue to come back. And everytime we come back, we buy a bag of coffee beans to take back home. I really really really wanted to rate this place 5 stars but sadly my "all coffee tastes the same" bias gets in the way of that. It all just... tastes the same. So I can't in good heart, rate it 5 stars. The baristas are nice, the place is quiet, and the prices are well priced. It's clean and has wonderful local art for sale. I came to Bennu three to four times a week during my first month in Austin. The coffee'spassable but the environment was conducive for work. I don't mind that you have to make a purchase to get wifi card (there's a sign on the door that tells you one purchase minimum) as I would often stay for hours, working away. Today, however, after I had worked for three hours the wifi expired and they refused to refresh my wifi without purchasing another item. Their sign on the door says a one purchase minimum, which I had made, but in addition to that they want you to buy something every 3 hours you stay in the store to use wifi. I get that as a customer you should pay to use their space, but limiting the time that you can use a fixed cost resource when the capacity isn't even close to full? That really rubbed me the wrong way. I spent generally around $10-18 per visit just to be denied wifi access after 3 hours? For context, that's $240/mo. at 3 times per week. This is $70 more per month than a wework membership which allows you access to high-end coworking locations across the country, with wifi, printing, unlimited coffee and many other benefits included. Even if I were to just look at the coffee prices, they aren't cheaper than other shops in Austin - all of which I've visited, provide free wifi (without mandating a purchase). read more

This place makes a great dirty chai (aka a chai tea with a shot of espresso)! If you're looking for a place to read and study, I think this may be your place. I stopped in after a walking down south Congress and was blown away with the number of people quietly working away. There's lots of tables and chairs inside and even some space outside to sit and relax. The man at the counter was very friendly as was the person making my drink. A great little find in Austin! Locally owned and operated 24/7 Coffee Shop. They advertise breakfast but think pastries and packaged sandwiches vs. bacon and eggs. I had two tamales which were really delicious. They steamed them to heat them rather than using a microwave​ so the texture was very good. I got a Mexican Mocha. I'm not a big fan of Mocha's but this was really off the hook! Delicious, complex flavor and a far cry from a regular mocha that tastes like chocolate syrup​ dumped in coffee​. I got a bagel dog to go for lunch which was really tasty too. You can't really see Benu from the street once you pass the intersection. It's in a really small corner mall. There is a traffic light at the corner, so start looking for it when you're at the light. Definitely someplace I'd like to go again when I have some time to hang out for a while. In most respects, I like Bennu. The coffee is great, there's always seating, and it's not super loud. HOWEVER. One of the employees is just lazy, slow, and rude. A few days ago, there was nobody at the counter, so I stepped over to look into the office. He saw me, and actually rolled his eyes. When he put my order on the counter, I asked if I could get a to-go bag instead, and again, he rolled his eyes, and haphazardly dropped the items into the bag. This is not the first time I've had an interaction like this with him. That was enough to make me decide that I'm not purchasing from here anymore. read more

Me and my girl rolled in here around 3am and had a great conversation with Stefan(: Not only was he one of the sweetest souls I've ever come across at this late hour he was so helpful and gave us some samples to make sure we would like what we ordered. Went to meet up with a friend I haven't seen in years to catch up. The atmosphere, at 11am was more quiet and conducive to having a beautiful coffee and working on a laptop alone, but it may be louder earlier in tthe morning during the coffee rush.... Check out the Mocha Menu! It reads like a wine list of sweet desserty deliciousness. Sometimes you can go into these cool downtown adjacent coffee shops and feel intimidated, but the woman at the counter, as well as the barista, couldn't have been more pleasing, helpful and patient. I asked for a cinnamon latte and although they didn't have cinnamon syrup, they had suggestions galore! I ended up doing a toffee nut syrup and they put cinnamon on top. It was WONDERFUL!!! My friend enjoyed her Raven mocha so much, too! The furniture is a little hodgepodge but the place was charming and had a cute snapchat worthy walll behind the counter. (Pictured) Finally, I must say, I was shocked that this close to downtown there was an ACTUAL PARKING LOT! Bennu is right next to my work so I have a lot of meetings here and when I need a caffeine fix is the easiest place to grab a cup of coffee. But I really am just not much of a fan of some of their drinks. I think their specialty drinks are good if you're on the younger side and can tolerate the extra sugar (the raven is pretty good or the great gatsby). But if you're like me and outgrown the sugary coffee, the iced bennu is not something I can recommend, even if they cut it in half with just plain iced coffee. It's still sweet but for some reason, half the times I get it here, it tastes like plastic - not a pleasant coffee tasting note. Otherwise, its the type of shop where I can see why people want to work here as there's a lot of tables, spacious, even outdoor area and ok parking. But its also very crowded most days, so be warned... read more

Ordered a cappuccino from a barista with ear buds in who, believe it or not, had trouble hearing my order, and I had to repeat myself constantly. Cappuccino was bitter with scalded milk. When I got to the bottom of the cup, I was unpleasantly surprised with a mouthful of espresso grounds. The interior had good energy, and the only reason it gets two stars versus one is because my next stop after my coffee break was a print shop. Upon my friends hyping up this place, had to give it a shot. My first experience of Bennu was probably 4 stars when I went in August prior to college starting up again. Reminds me a lot of Epoch Coffee up in the Hyde Park/North Loop area. Nothing super fancy from a decor perspective inside, good place to get some work done or to study for students. Second time: Beginning of September too full no where to sit around 8 pm on a weekday. All the kids are back to school. No fault to Bennu. Can't rate. 3rd time: This is probably a 2 STAR review. Came back a bit later in the night more like 9-10pm ish and was able to share a table with some strangers since it was packed. Service was good as usually. WIFI awfully slow/doesn't even connect since this place was packed like a can of sardines. If you're going to be a 24/7 coffee shop and you know your bound to have a full house during school, gotta make sure your WIFI is able to even handle all of the people. I had to hot spot to even do work on my laptop...ugh I will avoid coming here to do work during peak hours. Pros: quite a bit of seating, not overly priced for their coffee, quick service, open 24/7 Cons: WIFI IS SLOW/DOESNT WORK when it is very crowded; nothing fancy about this place (if you're a coffee snob and enjoy going to coffee shops for a certain ambiance). read more

Love, love, love this place. It's a perfect mix of productive, get things done and cozy/chill. Their coffee is DELICIOUS. I typically get one of their specialty mochas (Don Quixote) but their house brews are always tasty too. All the baristas are super nice and helpful. They have a pretty decent amount of food as well. Pizza, sandwiches, tacos and tamales, salad and of course all the baked goods. Even gluten free and vegan options! I absolutely love the gluten free, dairy free lemon poppy seed bread (goes great with the mocha). It's a great place to work as it's typically quiet and relaxed, so I am always super productive and rarely distracted. Lots of outlets too, and substantial seating. I will warn that it's usually packed (parking too) but I always find a seat. People share tables and things open up, so not to fret. And there is also a cute outdoor area, so bring your pups! read more
