The food is ok. We were a large group, some of us had amazing food and me not so much. I do not recommend the steak. But, my moms food was delicious. The children ate all their food. My family of 5 recently ate at Benny's and we had a great experience. Our group party consisted of 2 elders, 2 adults, and one 10 year old. We ate on a weekday in the summer around 1030 AM. We were seated immediately. The service was prompt and friendly and they work as a team. The order consisted of kids Choco(late) mini pancakes with bacon, chilaquiles with scrambled eggs, chorizo skillet, the scramble, and the waffle and eggs meal. The food arrived promptly and hot. The 10 year old loved her chocolatey pancakes and bacon. The bacon was crisp. My chilaquiles were tossed in a spicy salsa verde and en point. The chorizo skillet came sizzling also with good spice. The waffle meal was legitimate with a nice crisp waffle, eggs sunny side up and well-browned and seasoned hashbrowns. The scramble delivered in that all of its components were executed well and therefore tasty. Everyone enjoyed their meal. The bill was about $100 for party of 5 which is about the norm these days. This restaurant can also hold several large parties at once. We would definitely come here again for a meal. read more

Food was sub par, I ordered the French toast meal, which came with bacon, sunny side up eggs, and hash browns. The french toast and bacon were good, the hash browns and eggs left much to be desired though. The whites on the eggs were runny and somehow the yolk was cooked?, and the hash browns were basically raw. Would not recommend. Save your money and find a better place to eat read more

Stumbled upon this place while visiting big bear with our 2 young daughters. The menu is smaller but has everything you'd want. The food came out fast & was delicious. Not worth the long wait just to get a table. When we did get a table, 45 minutes later came the food. A breakfast order started to feel old considering it was lunch time. There were mistakes with the order, but at least the staff are friendly. Food not as tasty as we thought, considering wait times could be up to two hours to get a table (people must have better things to do with their time, no?) McDonalds or IHOP are more satisfying. read more

Looking for a great breakfast place, look no further! I had the chilaquiles breakfast with a side of pancakes, and everything was absolutely delicious! Came to Benny's Diner with a party of 4 and waited about 40 minutes just to get a table, which we expected since it was busy. Unfortunately, the experience went downhill from there. Once seated, we waited an additional 50 minutes for our food, and it wasn't just our table--almost every table around us was experiencing significant delays. To make matters worse, there were two mistakes with our order: one plate came with the wrong side dish, and another was ordered over medium but arrived scrambled. At that point, after such a long wait, it was frustrating to have errors on top of it. The cleanliness also needs attention. The restroom clearly needs an update, and we noticed ketchup stains on the booth, which took away from the overall dining experience. I understand diners get busy, but long waits, order mistakes, and cleanliness issues made this visit disappointing. Hoping management can address these issues, because the potential is there--but this visit missed the mark. read more

The food was good and the wait wasn't bad for a weekend at all. They were very busy so it did take a while to get coffee refills and they were out of steak knives for our steak and eggs, but the steak was juicy and flavorful. Very mountain vibe and cozy. Worth the visit. read more

Our server was very sweet, but unfortunately the prices for the portions were disappointing. For a steak and egg burrito, chilaquiles, and one orange juice, with tip it was $50. The steak and egg burrito came a la carte and for almost $18 we'd expect a little fruit cup or toast since the burrito size was that small. My chilaquiles were tasty but unfortunately had wayyy too much sauce which made it hard to finish, including just one egg instead of two, and for almost $16 it just didn't seem worth the money. In this economy it's hard to feel like you're getting value for the cost, and unfortunately we will not be back read more

It's better being locally owned then corporate! Ambiance: a classic diner. The skeleton of Dennys is still there, but I see nothing wrong with that! It's a great place to go if you have kids or have a bigger party. Most restaurants up on the mountain are unable to accommodate families that are larger than 5. Service: Debbie has been serving the location for over 29 years and it shows! Her faithfulness and joy to the work shine through her and she was excellent with my almost 2 year old. Her and the other waitress helping gave my husband and I peace of mind since the kiddo has been a struggle lately eating out. Food: this is the only area I'd recommend a slight improvement. I would've liked the food a little warmer but can't complain too much when the food came out quickly unlike most other sit downs! Also easier for us since we had the little one. We went in today. Food was subpar, nothing special. We sat at the counter and could see the plates coming out. We saw the cooks putting the plates on a tray but it took quite a while to complete the order on that tray. So the food was coming out cold. It seemed the left hand didn't know what the right hand was doing in the kitchen. read more
