They got the food out fast and my group really enjoyed it. I personally prefer the chicken shawarma. The service was fantastic and it was our first time. Unfortunately, the chicken and beef were lacking in flavor and were pretty dry. The portions were generous, though the gyro beef was sliced pretty thin. The veggies were actually fresh, which was a plus. The hummus was on the lighter side flavor-wise, while the Baha Ghanouj had a solid roasted aftertaste. The Achilles spread was... interesting. It was very fatty with a garlic aftertaste. It just wasn't my thang. The waffle fries were cool. They were fried well and had a good crunch, but nothing special. The falafel, though, was pretty disappointing. I'm not sure if I just got a bad batch. They were very crunchy, but had a weird dish-soap aftertaste that I couldn't get past. The details: I normally don't eat a lot of meat, so I chose the Falafel Salad. It came with extremely little lettuce, plus a few olives (which I don't eat), onions (which I also eat sparingly), tomatoes, cucumbers, and the falafel balls. Oh! And there was feta cheese, but those were such miniscule pieces, and so few, that I wouldn't have remembered it was supposed to be part of the salad, if I didn't just pull up a photo online with their ordering system. What you see in the photo online is not what you get. The photo actually looks like a salad. Since it was called a salad, I expected there to be more lettuce, than the few pieces on the plate. I mainly was cutting up the cucumber & tomato pieces to go with the falafels. I don't even recall any dressing. There were also some pita slices with what I assumed was hummus. Whatever the dip was, it did not taste good to me at all. So I left all of the pita bread, as well, since it was dry without anything on it. Maybe what I assumed was hummus was a dressing. Hard to know, but it was not tasty. For the $27 I paid at a walk up counter, I would have expected much better food! I have bought frozen falafels at Lunardis (around $7) and made a salad for them at home, and enjoyed it very much, which is why I ordered it. I have purchased Spanakopita at the store many times, (about $5 for around 12 of them at the store) and made them at home, which is why I didn't order that. The falafel salad was not an enjoyable meal for me at Yiassoo's. I'd also seen some reviews from a few years back that said they paid around $10 or $11 for their meal. That is more in-line price-wise with what you get, based upon my meal. With most of the meals around $20 for lunch, I feel they were very over-priced. I also asked my friend if she'd like to split a Baklava. They had a pistachio one & chocolate one. My friend wanted to try the chocolate one, so I bought that. I didn't think I was too into baklava, but thought it might be nice to try at this highly rated Greek restaurant. The main flavor that came through was the honey & nuts. The chocolate was just a tiny, narrow drizzle on top. I didn't hate it, but I would never order it again. My friend took one bite, and said she mainly tasted the honey, and would take it home for her husband. It may be very good baklava, but it was not to our tastes. My friend ordered the Gyro salad. It had a large pile of shaved meat, and she seemed to enjoy it. She ordered it To-Go, as she knew she'd be taking some of it home. She seemed to have more lettuce under her pile of meat than my meal got. Maybe because it was in a To-Go box, which might be larger than the plate? Or maybe the person making my salad just wasn't paying attention to how to make a decent meal. I was hoping I was trying a restaurant that I could go back to for something different. Based upon my experience, I would not go back, if I had a choice. I gave it 3 stars, because maybe other dishes, or people looking to just eat meat or falafel balls and not much else would enjoy it. There is a tent as well with a plastic surrounding but as for any restaurant with these plastic surroundings, I always find the plastic smell so strong and offputting, so we sat at the tables instead where they have umbrellas providing a lot of shade. We sat next to a bougainvillea bush which also provides us shade and some entertainment as little birds hopped back and forth inside the bush and then out of it to nearby tables, looking for food. So cute! Parking can be found in the lot behind the restaurant, but the entrance is still found around the other side of the building, on the side of the outdoor seating. You can also park on the side of the street in front of the restaurant, but there's less shade. We arrived at a 3pm on a Friday with almost no one else there, so once our whole party was present we got service immediately. The food takes some time to cook but as mentioned, it's delicious. Overall a really cute restaurant!
