The chicken bento box lunch special is a great deal and comes with a hefty amount of food, including rice, chicken, and vegetables. Bento house is also one of the only places in the area where you can buy freshly made sushi. It has a clean environment with plenty of seating for customers. I'll start with saying, I understand there are pitfalls with using a delivery service for sushi. Did not really set my bar high on expectations and knew it would lose some of that nice cool freshness on the way over to my home. I am also not going to knock this place for no soy sauce being included with the order as potentially it was on the delivery driver to get it. What I am going to absolutely knock this place for is the lack of understanding that packing sushi and a cold salad with hot soup and bento box in one plastic bag is a terribly bad idea. In the 10 minute drive for the delivery driver to get to my place, it was more than enough time for the hot items to heat up the sushi and salad to well past appetizing levels for that type of meal. If they do not understand this simple concept then makes me question their food prep and other things. In any case, one of those times where once was enough, I won't be wasting money on a second try with this place. read more

Not what I have ever had before in a Bento Box. Usually they came with a variety of different kinds of things to eat--the meat teriyaki, rice, vegetable tempura, sushi and at least 2 other small "dishes" to try. ALL this was was the teriyaki meat which was okay, rice, and steamed cabbage, broccoli and carrots. How is that a Bento Box? Maybe I'm just a newb but at every Japanese restaurant I've had Bento Boxes before, it was as I described above. Ordered chicken gyoza to try--100% meh, have had WAY better. Also ordered spring rolls to try--worst I've ever had, were almost gooey on the inside and the flavor left much to be desired. It was pretty cheap as advertised but I won't pay $30 again for the two mediocre meals we got. read more

I went in expecting the place to look cheap from the reviews, but the atmosphere was very nice. The lady at the register was very welcoming. I figured I would go with the Salmon since the price was still under $10. I also went with the noodles because of the pictures I saw online of the veggies and noodles. Well, they were lo mein noodles, with no veggies in it, and the "side of veggies" was a side salad with very very watery dressing. The salmon was also super dry, and the "sauce" on it was just straight up grease. The california roll was nothing special. Just better than grocery store sushi because there was no mayo.. If I was to ever go back, I would definitely just stick to the basics, and get chicken or beef. read more

I was craving ramen after work and got excited to see that there was a place that serves ramen relatively close to my job. The atmosphere is very casual, it's kind of a fast food type of place. You go up to the counter to order, they give you a number, you sit and wait for your food. The ramen tasted bland to me, it was just okay. The pork belly in the ramen tasted a little old. However, the customer service was great! The chef/owner(?) was going out of his way to ask everyone how their food was--which is not something you typically see in a "fast food" type of restaurant. He even gave us two spring rolls on the house. I'd say the ramen itself is 2 stars and the customer service is 5 stars. read more

Don't expect fantastic service. It's just a very quaint small take out or casual dining eat in. The place look clean. The staff only know by menu order. If you go out of the menu & order differently they don't understand. Don't confuse them. It's inexpensive and the sushi is not bad. Too much rice for me, (I like more fish & less rice ) the spicy tuna is well prepared and fresh. They were out of mackerel so next time I will try again. read more

I really like this place because you get a great meal for very reasonable price. I also like the fact it is clean and the staff are friendly. I spent 10 years in the Pacific and ate out of a lot of food trucks, and hole-in-the-wall local diners. The deluxe bento box took me right back to Oahu, sitting under the tree at lunchtime. A very generic (dare I call it "fake") Bento house. It may even be a bit worse quality than what you would get at a mall kiosk selling teriyaki. The vegetables were dry and old and unflavored and the quality of the chicken was abysmal (random bones and tendons in it). There wasn't even enough teriyaki sauce to flavor anything. The spicy salmon roll was at best gas station quality. Would not come back here as everything is overpriced and flavorless. read more

I always go here for a quick bite if I am around the area . Food is always served to temp and cooked fresh. It's not fancy but the staff is polite and the service is good . Sometimes they get a bit backed up during mealtimes as customers frequently telephone orders in for pick up. Tv's are wall mounted and entertain u if your phone battery is dead . read more

So glad that there's a fast-casual style Japanese place where I live now. I love Chicken Teriyaki and this place makes it well! Prices are quite affordable, about 7 bucks for a "regular" bento, which has rice, vegetables, and chicken teriyaki. They also have a deluxe bento which comes with 6 california rolls or cucumber rolls, and a fried spring roll (which is excellent) for a couple bucks more.The portions are generous and everything tastes great! The customer service is also top-notch (I often call in an order right after working out at Crunch Fitness in Reston Town Center). My only complaint is that I often get a bite or two of chicken in each box that is mostly cartilage and inedible. Not too big of a deal, but I've eaten from many other fast-casual style Japanese places where this hardly ever happens (e.g. Sarku, Quickfire, etc.). Very good place for a quick inexpensive bite. Had the teriyaki chicken bento box deluxe and the spicy garlic ramen. It's not going to be your traditional japanese ramen, the egg was over cooked and the broth was not the normal ramen broth, but it's a close replica. No other ramen places in the area. Went because we wanted something different and saw they had great ratings. We got the deluxe bento box, with chicken teriyaki and fried rice. I'm not a fan of sushi but my daughter loved it. Not sure if I just caught them on a bad day, but my first experience with Bento House was horrible. I ordered the tofu teriyaki bento and seaweed salad for delivery. After several calls to the restaurant and GrubHub, my food arrived 3 hours later. When I opened the box, my order was clearly wrong. They had given me a deluxe tofu teriyaki bento, but there were no vegetables or sauce. It was just dry noodles, with flavorless tofu cubes in soggy breading. Maybe the worst tofu I've ever gotten from a restaurant. The spring roll and California roll were mediocre, but probably would have been better if delivered on time. I doubt I'll ever order again. read more

The food is always hot and fresh. The employees are genuinely very nice. As for the bento box format, It's lovely to get hot food from the grill AND some pieces of sushi, and sometimes a tiny salad, depending on which box you get. It's inexpensive, so it's friendly to your budget - I want to say the standard chicken bento box is $6 and some change. And it's actually a LOT of food, especially the deluxe bento box, which doesn't cost much more. It's not a sit-down type restaurant, although they have tables and a soda fountain that are all kept clean. Tons of people seem to come in and order a la carte for the wide variety of things that they have to offer; most often people on their lunch break. read more

I waited in line for almost 30 minutes for my extremely overpriced order of a dragon roll and California roll. what I got was not worth the wait or the charge. I watched as people who ordered after I made my order not only got their food, but finished their meal and left. When I finally got back to my office to eat, I was extremely disappointed to find my sushi contained mostly rice and browning avocados. Next to no fish. Honestly I've gotten better quality sushi at one of the Safeway grocery store that has a sushi bar. And I paid about a third less for twice as much sushi. So, I kept the other reviews here in mind as I drove down the road to the newly opened Bento House. You all had me thinking this would be a place that means well but just misses the mark. Well, I disagree. I think this place is pretty neat. Fun fact: As I write this, I'm eating leftovers from the chicken teriyaki I ordered for dinner last night. As at least one or two other reviews mentioned, this place, for the price, is a wonderful deal. I got the chicken teriyaki deluxe bento box, which aside from the teriyaki included four pieces of a California roll, a cabbage and broccoli salad, and a spring roll. The California roll is better than I was expecting it to be. The spring roll was a bit bland and unexpected for a Japanese takeout place, but hey. This all came out to $7.95. Well, hot damn. That's pretty great for a quick dinner. Other comments mentioned that the quality of food isn't much better than what you might find in a mall somewhere. I doubt the intention of Bento House is to be an upscale, top dollar restaurant; instead, I think they're shooting for something else. They're located in the Home Depot shopping center. Think about it. You know what sucks? Having to drop by Home Depot after work, when you're already tired, to pick up a door knob or a set of precision screwdrivers that you then have to take home and deal with while the dog is barking and all you want to do is sleep. Think you'll want to worry about dinner on top of that? I wouldn't. Good thing Bento House is right there so I can swing by and pick up some teriyaki and make my night a little more bearable. Anyway, I only tried the teriyaki. I think that's where this place will shine. To the owner: I'd recommend putting soy sauce on the tables for people to use with their sushi or even on their salad. Lastly, on the topic of the owner, the man is extremely kind. Like, it's contagious. I walked in and was greeted by him and then I felt this big goofy grin on my face. He was so excited to have a new customer try their food. There's a lot of crappy service out there, so it's really nice every once in a while to have someone who cares so much. This man has my thumbs up. Go and try it for yourself, but keep in mind what this place is intending to be. I get a kick out of people who go to a place like this and expect it to be Momofuku. After I spend 7 years of my life living in Japan I was looking forward to find a good place that make a good miso Ramen in this area and all I can say it's that this place doesn't know how to cook a miso ramen at all !! I paid a $10 dollars for a small bowl of miso ramen which taste nasty very blend and doesn't taste like miso !!The soup looks like a watery coconut milk with no miso flavor !!! We received a friendly greeting upon entering for lunch. After a review of the menu, we found that the Bento offering is for teriyaki with smaller sides. We order chicken teriyaki with sushi rice and veggies. While waiting, we found the ambiance to be like being in some kind of vehicle because the place hums. There were also four large screen tvs on with sports. Looking toward the kitchen I cringed when I saw our food being cooked as I saw the cook squeezing lots of oil from a plastic bottle. The food was served in plastic ware even though we were eating in. Wasteful practice. The teriyaki turned out to be very greasy. The rice was dried out. The veggies were mostly green cabbage with small pieces of broccoli and carrot. These veggies tasted slightly burnt. The egg roll was the worst I have ever had as it was undercooked and doughy. One bite was all I ate. The sushi was tasteless and had tough cucumber skin that was inedible. It was served with wasabi that was discolored and was hard and did not melt into the soy sauce. For the price that we paid we could have had better food at a few other spots in the area. Disappointed that this spot was not a true bento box place in the traditional sense. Food quality is that like you would find from an Asian food place in a mall food court. read more
