I wanted to try the Chinese food and found it was your typical Chinese-American food. My Buddha delight was just OK - but it's kind of what I expected. The veggie eggrolls were WAY overdone, a bit bland, not homemade. My guy got the Kung Pao chicken. He said it was just OK as well, too many peanuts, though. I have a feeling they really shine when it comes to Vietnamese foods, but they don't have much of a veggie selection here - no veggie Pho and things are probably cooked in fish sauce. I will try it again and get another dish to give them a second try, but there's just too many restaurants close by for just an OK meal. read more

So delicious! Ordered some takeout soup on this fine raining day. The broth was clean, clear, subtly sweet with tons of bone flavor; very important for all Vietnamese soup dishes. Means the broth has been simmering for hours. My togo was packed perfectly, condiments and all necessary herbs included. They don't skimp on the broth portions either- that's a big pet peeve of mine. Noodle soup had bbq pork slices, fresh shrimp, cuttlefish, fish patty and to top it off....shrimp toast (my favorite). What made this hu tieu very authentic... Is the minced pork and toasted dried shrimp topping. Without that... the flavor is just not complete. Yummy! The restaurant itself looked very clean and inviting. Buyer Beware I was craving Pad Thai but my favorites restaurant didn't open for another hour. I decided to try Bep Saigon again. (I ate there about 3 years ago) I wanted Shrimp Pad Thai but ordered Veggie Pad Thai to be safe I got the dish home and tasted it and thought, This does not taste good and was frustrated I just spent $15 on a nasty dish It was hot from the Wok so I decided to let it cool a bit and tasted again Then I thought oh this isn't bad and ate 2 bowls After 20 minutes my stomach was cramping and felt like I was going to throw up and I hate throwing up. I discovered this place opened earlier in the week while heading to Chick-fil-a. I've actually eaten there 3 times since then and feel I can give a object review. First time I ordered the dinner combo of broccoli and chicken with fried rice and wonton soup. The portion was generous and the flavor of the broccoli and chicken was good. The the extra .50 I paid for the fried rice was not worth it. It literally was 1 ice-cream scoop of rice. The plate needed more rice and the flavor of the fried rice was bland. The egg roll look more like a fried spring roll wasn't very flavorful. I would pass on the egg roll and the fried rice. (I forgot to take a picture). The soup was good, a little salty, but manageable. My second time there I ordered the Happy Family option... which was a combo of chicken, beef and shrimp with mix veggies in a delicious broth. This time I didn't not order the fried rice and the combo was not an option. Just got the white rice. But again, I feel the amount of rice given compared to the protein is off. It was just 2 scoops of ice. I enjoyed the meal and the broth made the meal. I asked for the meal to be made extra spicy. It really wasn't spicy at all. My third time there I ordered the lunch portion on the weekend. I ordered the Thai Basil chicken extra spicy, white rice, pork egg and wonton soup. Since it was the weekend and I just wanted to eat one meal, I ordered an appetizer of the fried chicken wings. Honestly... not sure they do fried items well. The chicken wings were nothing special and were basic frozen chickens wings fried and they were salty to me. The sweet chili sauce that came with it didn't to help. Just not worth it to me. The main reason I gave them 4 stars instead of 5 stars... I did carry out with all my order. After driving home with my third meal I discovered all my broth from my Thai basil meal tilted and was swimming at the bottom of the bag. Not sure why they decided to serve meals with a good amount of broth in regular styrofoam containers that are not sealed tight. I literally had to carefully get everything upstairs and pour the broth from the plastic bag and back in to the food container. Overall it's a good new spot. Love that I can buy a complete meal and not have to buy family style (Ho-Ho). I just want to get a entree with 2 sides... their stir fried meals are delish... just need to work on the fried stuff. read more

I've wanted this place to be better than it is. I really do. However, the food is ultimately what makes it lackluster. The service is fine. Location is good. However it is never really busy. The pictures of the food are not indicative of what you actually get. The sauces are heavy. MSG heavy. I ordered general tso with fried rice. It just wasn't fresh. She was in the mood for Chinese food and we went to trusty Yelp to see what would be suggested and thank you fellow Yelpers for bringing Bep Saigon to the top of the list for us. We were seated immediately, although the place definitely had quite a few other tables that were filled, which we knew was a good sign! Their lunch specials are available 11 am - 4 pm and are basically the Chinese entree of your choice, soup, steamed rice and an egg roll. Bring your appetite as the portions are sizeable and the food is delicious. I chose the egg drop soup, which was very well prepared and served as a cup size. Then I got the Tangy orange chicken, which is lightly battered and deep fried, tossed with garlic, onion, broccoli, and orange peels in spicy sweet and tangy brown sauce. It was served with a heaping portion of steamed rice and an egg roll as promised. The plate was full of food. At the end of the meal, you're given fortune cookies. The restaurant definitely stayed busy through the duration of our stay and there were other delicacies we saw being served to other tables and everything looked good and authentic. This little Asian kitchen has become our family go to. Every time we have gone the service and food has been delicious and affordable. It's has a variety of cuisines that make it stand out. We wish more people would come here because we are dying for them to stay in business. Their shrimp spring rolls are only $4 and they are great. My husband has tried many of their chicken dishes and enjoyed each one. The staff is friendly and attentive, and the restaurant has always appeared very clean and well organized. About a 35 minute drive from my place but worth it! We love their Bun Bo Hue and always get it with egg noodles. The broth is very flavorful and they give you a lot of meat. 10/10 The fried egg rolls on the other hand is disappointing. It is not traditional Vietnamese rolls, more like Chinese rolls. Traditional Vietnamese rolls do not have cabbage in them and are not served with red colored sweet and sour sauce. 1/10 The fried dumplings are very good and the dipping sauce pairs well. 10/10 The rangoons were okay. It's just cream cheese and green onion. Wish they would add crab in it and serve it with sweet chili, duck sauce or plum sauce instead. 4/10 Overall, great restaurant with great service. Calamari was delicious, crispy, perfectly cooked and well seasoned with chillis and garlic around it. Could've gone without the chopped romaine bed under Calamari though. Packaging was conscious of fried food with a cent to keep from getting soggy, much appreciated. Gen Tao Chicken was delicious and perfectly cooked. Lighter on garlic and chili flavor but still yummerz. Pepper Steak was thinly sliced, juicy, gravy soaked and delicious. Emphasis on JUICY steak. Crab Rangoon had so much flavor in the crispy fluffy package with great sweet sour dipping sauce! Veggie Fried Rice had a huge variety of vegetables and all well seasoned and cooked. Savory perfection here today. My only nit to pick is that everything is a little overpriced for the portions but for the quality presented I'm good with paying it. This little gem is the perfect place to bring your parents if they want some decent Vietnamese food that's not in China Town. It's definitely not your typical hole in the wall dirty Vietnamese place that I love to frequent, but it hit the spot. One of my favorite dishes was the hu tieu ap chao which is pan fried flat rice noodles that are fried until crispy with a brown sauce on top. So it's a nice crisp char on the outside but nice and soft in the middle. We liked it here had other places tend to fry until it's hard so it really sticks to your teeth. However, here, it's crispy without being hard! One of my favorite things here. The pho here is standard. Not the best but not the worst. Good enough that my husband (the picky one) ordered it more than once. The salt and pepper shrimp is a very generous portion! Flavorful and served head on. Bun rieu with whole fried soft shell crab. The soft shell crab really kicks it up a notch. The broth is tame but they give you extra mam Tom on the side if you like it more fishy. Overall, a pleasant experience. My parents visiting from Houston didn't complain about it and they complain about everything! read more

Our new go to place for authentic and delicious Vietnamese food. We had the bánh khot, bun rieu, and mi kho. The banh khot with a drizzle of coconut cream was better than what I could get in Vietnam. The bun rieu with added soft shell crab has a rich tomato and natural sweet bone broth taste. The mi kho sauce was very rich in flavor; it complemented the dish so well. Next, our Ap Chao with beef came. I think this dish in particular was good but not outstanding. Wish the sauce was a little more flavorful - But it still satisfied that fried crispy noodle craving that you're having. This is the closest thing I can get to my favourite vietnamese noodle place in Houston. I have visited twice and both times had been great. The waitresses and the owner are very friendly. They even mistaken my bf for Vietnamese and started talking to him in Vietnamese. First time came here I ordered Mi Thie Kho (Dry Clear Noodle with BBQ Pork and Shrimp). The noodle is chewy and packed with lots of umami flavor. Second time I ordered the Vermicelli bowl with grilled pork. The pork's seasoning is on the sweeter side. Personally I like my grilled pork to be savory and little bit sour. So this one fell a bit short on the vietnamese flavor. Both times, my bf ordered the Pho. The broth is very tasty and has that hint of spices. We are really happy we tried this place. Their prices are also very reasonable. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who love vietnamese noodles and phos. On the wall, they have special menus that are written only in Vietnamese. Will try it next time. read more

Feels like this place is quite underrated for its quality. I've had Hu Tieu Ap Chao at multiple places and Bep Sai Gon is probably the best of them all. The noodles are super nice and crunchy and they STAY crunchy until you finish your plate, not like other places where it'll get soggy even before you start digging in. We also got the Bo Luc Lac (shaken beef) and that was really good too. My husband is a very picky eater but even he said that this was probably the best Vietnamese restaurant he's ever been to. Besides that, they have such a large variety of food on the menu, all of my favorites. Definitely must return a bunch more times just to try them all! read more

We recently discovered this restaurant and WOW it is so good! The Vietnamese crepe is fabulous as is the Vietnamese ice coffee. But a standout dish that I had never heard of before is Absolut incredible. It's a rice noodle that has been pan fried. So it is crispy and chewy at the same time. Served with delicious vegetables and sauce - addictive! Called hu tieu app chu. We also had the salt and pepper calamari on our first visit - which was fantastic as well. We had such a great food experience here. The staff wasn't super attentive that day, BUT I still found myself enjoying every aspect of it. The Bun Bo Hue was probably my favorite that I've had while the Bun Rieu was very strong in flavor. The pho wasn't special but still compared with other places. Service is great and the food is fresh. This place can get really busy during lunch. You might need to take that risk on whether you have to call your boss and say you'll be late because you had to wait on your food to enjoy delicious food. Perfect size entrees and great service. Will definitely be back often to try many other items they have to offer. I wish they had bun bo hue (spicy beef soup) and bun rieu (pork and crab noodle soup). Too bad. I thought I found another place that made Bun Bo Hue, the traditional way. Mouth watering wait but jaw dropping taste. Sorry, no good for me. The pigs feet, pork blood, sliced steak & side condiments were spot on, actually good BUT the broth was very untasty to me. I wish it wasn't so, I like to build up my choices of places to enjoy Bun Bo Hue but afraid this won't be one of them. I very graciously only at a small portion of the broth so when the waitperson came by after my dining partner finished his meal, I was a little surprised they didn't say anything about my full bowl. Maybe they know? Regardless, I'm not one to cry over bad Bun Bo Hue so I didn't say anything but I do wish they would have asked if our meal was "good" like most restaurants do. I thought this was really good, veggies were fresh, shrimp tasted good, portions were ample and prices decent. Water tasted clean and the restaurant was as well. I had the crispy egg noodle and will definitely come back to have it again. My lady's dish was also good, just not as spicy as we'd hoped with the pepper icon on the menu, and the Tofu not quite as crispy as we prefer it to be. Overall I'll be back to try more items. Finally a place that serves legit canh chua (vietnamese seafood soup) and ca kho (braised fish). Also some harder to find things like the Banh Khot. All the Vietnamese dishes we've tried here are legit. Haven't tried the Chinese items yet but I bet they're great too. Incredibly friendly staff too.
