Im just going to say... don't come here. I wanted to give this place at least two or three stars. I'll start with the side dishes. Everything minus the kimchee and salad was salty. There's not much more to say that that. I first ordered the brisket and spicy pork. Brisket was completely frozen and hard as rock. After I cooked it, it was dry and super chewy. The spicy pork was okay. Not great, but at least edible. My second order was the beef bulgogi, shrimp, and squid. The bulgogi was not what I expected. It was basically the brisket cut thick and marinated. But compared to the frozen brisket, it was edible. The shrimp and squid was mediocre. ***The last thing I ordered was the pork belly. Pork belly is usually pretty good at Korean bbq's because it's not marinated and it's just a piece of meat. BUT this pork belly had hair on it!!! And when I told the waitress she said oh it's probably just the company they got it from. Instead of apologizing and offering me another plate, which tbh I would've refused anyway, she told me to cut that part off..!!! What the heck?! I immediately asked for the check and left. Staff wasn't friendly. The hostess was nice. The food is not good at all. I definitely wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. All I can really say is if you do decide to come to this place, make sure to check the meats before you cook and eat it. read more

Got here around 7:30pm on a Saturday night, had to wait 30-40min to get a table for two. They definitely need to hire more employees - with the entire place filled, the servers seemed flustered. They were nice/attentive, but it was obvious they were in need of more help. Regardless, they got us all of our meat in an orderly time and changed our grills pretty often! The owner also walked around asking if everything was alright, so I appreciated the good service. AYCE Menu ($15.99 for lunch, $21.99 for dinner) - They have a decent number of marinated options, but don't go here if you only want unmarinated - you have to pay extra ($5-$8 a plate) for short ribs/brisket. Food - My favorites were Spicy Pork and Rib-Eye Beef Bulgogi. The pork wasn't spicy (actually none of the items that stated spicy were actually spicy), but it was flavorful. We tried most of the items on the menu - spicy bulgogi beef was not spicy/flavorful, house marinated pork/BBQ chicken did not taste like BBQ or seasoning, shrimp were pretty small and very hard to peel (not sure if due to quality?). Condiments - They give you two sauces initially (can't remember the exact names), but there are also additional condiments that you can order. We tried the Korean hot sauce and House sauce - didn't really enjoy any of them. I think a good sauce is essential, so I was disappointed with the options. Based on the food, I might give 3 stars. My reason for 2 stars is that there's a sign in the front stating they won't seat people if they come as a party of 1... so that's basically saying that if you want to eat here by yourself, they refuse to serve you?! I get that they want to maximize the number of people they can serve at each grill, but I've never seen a place actually say they won't seat you for that reason. I did see someone dining by themselves, so maybe they make exceptions when not as busy or don't enforce that rule? but then why even have that sign in the first place? Seems pretty unwelcoming. Overall, I might come here again if a group of friends really wanted to... but I think there are other KBBQ options in the area that I'll try out first. read more

Wow! I just moved to SF recently and coming from socal, the one thing I miss the most is KBBQ! Where are all the spots here!?!? I welcome all recommendations lol When I saw this place i was really excited. I went on a friday night so it was crowded and there was a 30 minute wait which I already expected for a weekend. We got seated in a booth with awkward seating around the table. A little too far to sit comfortably. I had to sit on the edge of my seat. Let's start with price. Nearly $30 for a small AYCE menu. I tried all the sides which were fine, had cheese corn which I liked. The bulgolgi was decent. The spicy bulgolgi wasn't much different. But DO NOT get the brisket. It was way too chewy and tough. I had to chew it for a couple minutes and then gave up! The rest of my party agreed. I was dissapointed. The bulgolgi was tender though, I'd reccomend this if you don't have anywhere else to go. The service took a while as expected for a week night and the staff was friendly, but the food was a definite miss :( read more

This place is a pretty good spot if you just want a quick kbbq with friends. I won't say it's my favorite but I won't say it's my least favorite as well. I feel like if you cook yourself, you can tell the quality of meat or products you use and I can definitely tell most of their meat is not as fresh as I would like them to be. I didn't have any expectations coming here, I was just excited for some meat. We did the AYCE, of course, which was reasonably priced at $21.99/pp. For the meats, we got the spicy pork, bulgogi, pork belly, and kalbi (extra charge). Our favorite were the bulgogi and pork belly. Make sure you ask for the chili and oil sauce for the pork belly as it tastes a little bland. If you're in the mood for KBBQ, this place is decent but I would suggest making the drive out to Oakland for something worth your monies. The servers are very friendly and attentive. read more

$15.99 in San Francisco doesn't taste better than this IMO. $21.99 is also an option if you want more meat or going for dinner. Although there are only a few meats to choose from for lunch, the price to option ratio is just right. The pork they use, which I do recommend, isn't the pork belly you're used to at other KBBQ places but rather, it's a cut that is thinner and a lot less fatty, but at the same time still as tender, given that you don't OVERCOOK the meat. (The meat doesn't have to be burnt or on FIRE to be cooked just FYI...) All the meat they give you is quite flavorful already and it can greatly be accompanied by the lettuce leaf they give you as wrapper, which are free btw unlike most other places. The only complaint I have for they is that they give you way WAY too much food every time you order, and a lot of people just end up wasting the them, which is ironic TBH. But other than that, definitely a great place to for KBBQ that's still decently priced! read more

It is more like an add on which cost $5 each. Although this place is ayce, they only let you order 4 plates at a time. Food were alright. Meat like brisket and pork belly. were bland. Rib eye beef bulgogi had more flavor than the the brisket. Staffs are attentive but there are times where we have to wave for the workers to come to our table if we needed more meat. Beque caught our eye with its $16 AYCE lunch bbq - however, right after seeing the price we noticed that the price did not include brisket (??? It's a staple!). But we were hungry and decided to check it out anyway for their bulgogi and pork belly. Menu also included marinated pork, chicken, rice, rice paper, lettuce wraps, kimchi, japchae, and bean sprouts + fish cake. We started out with the pork belly, marinated pork, and bulgogi. For two people, this was a lot of food. I recommend starting out with 2 if you're too hungry. The bulgogi was the favorite - it was marinated well, tender and flavorful. I didn't even end up using any sauces because it was fine by itself. Marinated pork was great as well - pork belly was just pork belly lol. Can't say much else. Compared to cheap LA places, Beque is pretty on par. Dinner price is around $23, still not bad compared to K elements. Service was a bit slow - they were understaffed. However, our server was still patient with us and friendly, just not very attentive. For the price and meat quality, I'd come back! read more

I've been to Beque a couple of times now, and it's my go-to spot whenever my friends and I want to get filled with their all you can eat menu. For what the price is, the quality of the meat isn't the best, but you can't really blame them since you're not paying for the best quality (but really quantity). I'm not too picky so the meat is always great! Most of the waitresses and waiters are usually attentive but some you need to flag down. I don't usually write reviews, but I felt like my visit last night checked all the boxes of customer service. Our waitress was super attentive and always brought a new grill without a need to ask which was great since we burned a lot of our plates. (Friends like their meat burnt for some reason btw.) We paid and left, and one of my friends lost 30$ so we went around trying to find it and finally returned to Beque. We didn't have any expectations but it didn't hurt to look around, and surprisingly one of the waiters had the money my friend lost under the counter for safekeeping. She could've just said nothing and we would've left thinking it was lost somewhere else but the service was great! read more

If you're starving and down for some Korean bbq, head out to Beque BBQ Grill located in Japantown. Decided to check out the place yesterday on a recommendation from a friend. The hours of operation was great since majority of the other bbq restaurants around the area did not open till 4:30pm. The servers and hostess were helpful and great. When we called for them, they easily came by to help us. From my other experience at bbq, Beque was not stingy with their meats. They literally piled it up and the quality was actually good. I love pork belly and that's my go-to so I was rather disappointed that it was more thin than I'm used to. The sides are great and since this is an all-you-eat don't forget to always ask for more if you want to. Highly recommend eating the meats with letters wraps or rice wraps, but you can also eat a bowl of rice with it as well. For my vegetarian friends, Beque got you! They offer a vegetarian fried rice with a sunny-side egg which you can opt out. It was perfect for my two vegetarian friends who decided to join us. If you've been walking and exploring San Fran all morning and looking for your first meal of the day, Beque will hit the spot. I was surprised to know they had easily accommodated a party of 15 people. I guess we were lucky enough to beat the rush hours right after lunch and right before dinner. The restaurant does happy hour so, you could also check that out. I'm not sure if it does apply during the weekends though. Parking can be challenging. There is a parking garage across the street but it is $2/hour. If you're just stopping by for a meal, the parking garage is ideal, however, if you're planning to explore Japantown like we did, street-parking will be ideal. read more

TLDR: Not bad, but not great... come here if you want some cheap KBBQ. -- Came here on a Saturday around lunch time because every other restaurant in the Japantown mall had 1 hour+ wait. The lunch menu is pretty cheap $16 AYCE compared to $23 AYCE for dinner. However, the lunch menu excludes a lot of the more popular meat choices such as brisket... The service was pretty slow even though the restaurant wasn't busy or crowded. We had a couple grill changes but one of them came out dirty with old grease bubbling through the cracks of the gril (see pic). The food didn't taste that great, but the brisket is pretty basic. I like how they leave the salt and oil on the table so I don't need to ask for more. My girlfriend liked the cheese fondue thing, but it's pretty small and they limit how much you can get. It looked like basic shredded cheese you can get from Safeway. I didn't try it because I'm lactose intolerant. Oh well... Overall, it's cheap KBBQ, but I wouldn't come to japantown to eat here. Came here for lunch with my parents. My dad ordered a lunch special, while my mom and I ordered the all you can eat. I ordered three items for the first round, but that was a mistake. The waiter came out with really big portion of meat. When I get ayce at a Korean BBQ, it's usually half the portion. It wasn't until we were half way done with the meat, the waiter told us we can to half size orders so we can try other meats. We wished he could have told us when we were ordering. aw man. i think we came here and two workers quit which is what our waitress told us. we were trying to be patient but really she shouldve told us that after we were seated (and then let other patrons know as well seeing they kept seating more n more tables). long story short we were a group of 7 people. we only did ONE round of meats because they didnt check up on us. we were there 2 1/2 hours. only time we gotten refill on water because we went to them in the back room. also the booth had a slight odor as if they wiped area clean with a used rag. but our grill wasnt changed we didnt notice the smell but more of burnt meats after. read more

They give huge portions so if you have a small party and want to try a lot of different things, feel free to ask for a half portion. The server was great, she was the only server but still gave us enough attention and changed our grill 4 times! I really enjoyed the brisket and the garlic pork belly. I wouldn't recommend the pineapple steak because it is hard to cook a steak perfectly on a kBBQ grill. They have 4 different sauces so be sure to order all of them if you like a variety. Service was a bit slow but that's because there was one girl working the entire restaurant. Everywhere is short staffed. The meats were all delicious besides the garlic shrimp. They were actually gross and soggy. Server was very polite and kind. Got us everything we asked for but it took a little time. She was prompt with the grill changes making sure we weren't burning up and smoking the place out. Bulgogi was bulgogi. Sweet, tender and delicious. The pork belly was great. The ban chon was on point though they buy all of it it was still delicious. For $30.00 it's a steal. Easily worth $45. It's the best ayce deal in town. The cheese corn was cute. I've came here twice in the last couple years. There's definitely better options in the nearby area. Because it's in the actual Japantown Center, it tends to always have a wait. While the selection of meats are good, it's the quality of the meats that throws me off. It's average. As with most all you can eat places, you cannot take food home. I know that some places have modified this due to COVID. The banchan selection is not as nice, but most all you can eat restaurants don't have a good variety. This place is known to give you bigger portions the long you stay. I'm assuming this practice is in effect so that you get full and leave quicker. However, it's not the best idea if you want to try multiple meat dishes. By giving customers larger quantity, the restaurant also wastes a lot of meat. After having eaten at YakiniQ numerous times, we decided it was time to change things up and try a different ayce kbbq restaurant in the city. We decided on Beque because they do not charge extra money for bowls of rice. We arrived around 6:30pm and it was still relatively slow at the time. We were seated immediately and given menus along with the side dishes. Beque has an $21.99 AYCE option and an a la carte choice for patrons to choose from. We ordered the AYCE and proceeded to select many orders of brisket, shrimp and bbq chicken. We were quite disappointed with the brisket quality, despite eating my dishes of it. While it is still edible, it pales in comparison to the brisket offered at YakiniQ. The one at Beque is fattier and lower quality of meat. We enjoyed the shrimp and bbq chicken though. Service was a mix of good and bad. We had a number of servers attending to our needs throughout our session. Some of them were attentive and refilled our waters & changed our grills without us having to ask. A few times, we had to flag down a waitress for our needs and we wouldn't see her again for at least ten minutes later. I personally had a mediocre experience here. The only advantage that Beque has over YakiniQ is that they do not charge extra for bowls of rice. The ayce dinner menu is also a bit limited compared to other restaurants around the Bay Area. Had an extremely unprofessional experience with the manager, who ended up making personal remarks about us and even said out loud that we must be disappointments to our parents. We dined in for all-you-can-eat, and could not eat the brisket (rubbery and dry) and the pork belly (pungent and stiff). Even the side dishes were bland. Manager said we had to pay for full amount, even though we could not eat 2 of the 3 dishes we ordered. She refused to be understanding and proceeded to lecture me in Korean (she even told me not to speak in English, since I am Korean), and started delving into my personal life. Located in Japantown inside the Japanese center, this place is not hard to find as the sign really stands out! When you walk inside the shopping center, there are endless options for dining, but my friend and I wanted Korean BBQ. This place offers AYCE which is always a plus. It was not that busy for a Saturday night, but the inside was decorated beautifully. They had big screens hanging off the walls all playing KPop music videos and nice tables. They have a nice selection of meats for all you can eat ($21 dinner) and for a great competitive price. We ordered pork belly, bulgogi, brisket, and chicken. The meat tasted great with the sauces provided. They offer rice and lettuce wraps for the meats which is always very delicious when used. I also really enjoyed their side dishes. I wish they had a menu for appetizers with AYCE but the side dishes will do. Also it helps save room for the meat feast!
