The atmosphere of this place is very nice but the drinks are SO milky. It feels like this place emphasizes milk more than coffee. Even if you ask for a splash of something, it's entirely taken over. Also would like to have other options of sizes regarding espresso shots too. read more

The coffee was really good and so was the tea. I don't like my tea to be too sweet but my husband does. I'm not sure if they could make it sweeter but it was still very tasty. The latte was so good, and the milk choices was amazing. They have bit of seating outside and inside. The service was also great. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. Stopped by berdenas for a quick coffee and ordered an iced americano and it had a nice bold flavor to it. Sometimes these drinks can be watered down pretty heavily but this one was very good and didn't have a bitter flavor like some do. I didn't get a pastry, but they sure did look good! read more

Was so excited to have Berdena's fill the empty coffee slot at Fred's so went Sunday to do a test drive of their beverages. Sadly I found them simply run of the mill. As a coffee-holic I have pretty strict standards for a good cup of coffee and a watery latte is simply a sin. My vanilla latte lacked any robust bean flavor and the "house made vanilla" didn't improve the situation. A french looking pastry was ok but tearing off bites of any pastry should not require putting some "muscle into it" with both hands. Would I go back again? Never say never, but they would definitely have to step up their game to play with the big guys of a half dozen other coffee houses that do it better. read more

Came to Berdena's for their grand opening. While the line was quite long, all that meant was if everyone else is waiting, it must be good! Grabbed a cold brew with almond milk and was not disappointed. Great flavor and very smooth, just the morning caffeine fix I needed. Tried one of their giant pastries (forgot to take a pic) and was amazed at how light and fluffy it was. Will definitely be stopping by when I'm in the area and need some great coffee! read more

What a lovely place. Beautiful, quaint, and friendly staff made this experience a win. First time there was greeted right away, and they allowed time to review the options of pastries and drinks. I had a honey lavender latte, which was the best I've had. You could actually taste the lavender and honey without being overpoweringly, sweet. The almond Matcha bread was flavorful and wonderful moist texture. We also ordered cheese pepper scone and the vegetarian burrito, which is a very good size and had a chipotle dipping sauce with it that was extremely tasty. I love both of their locations! I do tend to find a seat more often at their Phoenix location but it just depends on the time of day. You really can't go wrong with any of their drink or food items. If I had to pick one combo I'd say the lavender latte with the burrito. Afterwards you can take a stroll around Downtown Scottsdale or if at the other location, check out the little shops in the plaza. read more

Ahhh Berdena's!! I had just recently discovered this gem of a place in their original Old Town location (after living a 7 minute walk from it for a year!). I unfortunately moved away from Old Town, but try to get my Berdena's fix whenever I am in the area. So you can imagine my shock, surprise and delight when I was driving home from a dinner near Uptown one day and caught site of a sign for Berdena's in that neighborhood. I came home and immediately did some research and found out that this second location had just opened this past July. I made it a point to get here and test out this location and found out that it's just as amazing as the Old Town one. I don't believe they have the full kitchen here, so their menu is more geared towards the pastries. Which I don't mind at all because both times I came here, they had the cinnamon rolls in stock (a treat I have yet to see at the Old Town location). Their pastries are top notch and even if you're not a coffee fan, the sweets alone are worth coming here. Coffee is fantastic. And anyone who has tried it knows that. It may be on the pricier side, but one sip and you will understand why there are so many mega-fans like myself. Staff is always chipper and friendly; I've always had great interactions here. This Berdena's is still 25 mins from me (as is the Old Town one). So now I just need to get them to add a third location in Kierland. (insert prayer emoji). All told, Berdena's is my favorite coffee shop in the Valley hands down. So glad to see they are expanding into new areas! read more

Meh...my iced vanilla latte tastes like they didn't add any flavor-and the girl with me said the same. not to mention I waited 10 minutes for it while all the employees poured themselves espresso shots while I was waiting. Crap customer service strikes again. Messaged the owner directly and asked if it was ok to bring my own milk directly from the store every day unopened because they use cheap garage milk that hurts my stomach. They said no problem. For weeks been doing so. Now all of the sudden the manager at this location doesn't want to allow me to do so. Says it's a health hazard. Seriously you use cheap unhealthy full of junk milk that sits the fridge open for days. But I bring fresh unopened cold straight from the store milk in mini bottle that's going to get used by only me right away in my drink after weeks of doing so and what I bring is a health hazard .... No the garage you serve is a health hazard. Never coming back. They don't know how to treat loyal customers who spend hundreds of dollars a month with them. The staff here are so pretentious. Gosh, this place has stole my heart recently. I came here and fell in love with the coffee, but what I didn't expect was to fall in LOVE with the staff. They are truly unicorns and the driving force in which I continue to return. I have told all my friends about this spot which also is very aesthetically pleasuring to top it off. Big shout out to Alec and my Costa Rica friend in Scottsdale and Kendrick and Lindsey in Phoenix. They are so warm and kind and it's truly amazing to continue to see employees who love what they do and care about their craft. It has a very warm and inviting ambience and located in the incredible new commercial complex, The Frederick. This is a 3rd wave coffee experience featuring craft coffee drinks. This means that they look at the process of brewing coffee as an art. They only use high quality beans mostly from local roasters with great reputations. The baristas are skilled and understand all the variables that need to be manipulated to bring out unique flavor profiles in the beans. I have had conversations with the baristas and their passion for coffee and their attention to detail is evident. They also offer high quality pastries and delicious breakfast burritos for those who want fill their bellies with more than just caffeine. This shop has one of the best vibes of any coffee shop in the valley, and how fortunate am I that it is walking distance from my house. read more

I waited with for what feels like an eternity for Berdena's to open at the Fred. I had high hopes and was excited to try the beverages. I was sadly disappointed by the lack of strength and depth of the coffee. I tried several drinks, on a number of visits, with a variety of milks, and the results were consistently and exceedingly disappointing. There was way too much milk in all of the drinks and you could barely catch a glimpse in the coffee in some. I guess if you like your milk with a splash of coffee, this might be your jam. read more

I ordered an ice sugar free vanilla latte. It tasted spoiled my friend also tasted it. They remade it with new milk but it tasted the same. I just threw it out and went elsewhere. I am not sure if it was the syrup they use or what but it was awful. Really sad because I was really looking forward to a good coffee shop at the Fred! read more

Sorry but I just paid $4 for basically a shot of coffee that taste like burned coffee. For that price and flavor I should have gone to Starbucks. I had a caramel macchiato and tasted nothing like it. Very disappointed since I support locals but I would have gotten a better bang for my buck at Starbucks or any other coffee shop. The interior does look nice and the employees are friendly but unfortunately they coffee does not make the list. Won't be going back. read more

Great tasting coffee in a pretty cool location. I tend to drink decaf which was amazing here. The baristas are super friendly (mostly) and the area is very clean. Also, the music is nice. The only drawback is that this building, along with other business in the same plaza, are rather small, so I can see this spot getting packed very quickly. However, there are tons of spots outside to sit and people watch, or enjoy your day!!! read more
