Otherwise the service was quick and friendly, all staff were wearing masks and keeping clean behind large panels. I got a matcha oat milk latte and instead of whatever they use, I asked for just one pump of lavender syrup (maybe should have asked for less) What I got was tooth-achingly, saccharine sweet and holy moly $7.50 for a beverage? Not worth it... Better off just dropping to your nearest grocery store and picking up a quart or oat milk and matcha powder. I do love their turmeric latte, which is a spiced latte with an almost chai like flavor. Very tasty and some of the baristas are incredibly talented! Their coffee is also quite good without substituting anything, I just don't think their prices are worth the pretty penny you'll have to pay for milk substitutes or add ons. I thought it was their Vanilla Buzz powder they sweeten it with that gives it the perfect consistency, but I bought some powder to make my own and it's still not the same. I have to get a large cause it's so good. I also get their 3 seed avocado toast regularly, and man, the chili powder, microgreens, and lemon are a perfect blend on the thick bread. Service was inconsistent, as the person taking our orders was really kind and talkative to the person before us and took like five minutes with one customer and then very short with us. The drinks were expensive but disappointing. I ordered their horchata cold brew which had a weirdly tangy taste which I wasn't expecting. Overall not a well-thought out concoction. They have always been friendly, helpful and patient, even when I have trouble with the app. It's always clean, and it's one of the few coffee shops in La Jolla that is open late, which is especially nice in winter. My boyfriend said the golden milk was pretty good as well. Unfortunately, the attitudes of the staff is not so great. This location is cute but the staff is a little off putting for me. Better Buzz has opened another location, and that's a good thing! Now in La Jolla right on Prospect, offering it terrific menu line up, one can sit right outside in front with a birds eye view of the happenings going by. Although this location, for the majority, only offers outside seating, it still offers its trendy welcoming appeal. There's also seating in the back outside along a wall. During this particular visit, I had the Feta Avocado Toast and a Cafe au Lait. I had to send back the first toast, because of all things, they forgot to toast the bread! However, they had no problem making me a new one, so it was all good. On the second try, the toast was better, but it still needed about 45-60 seconds to develop that light crisp texture underneath. The toast was quite good. Seasoning on the smashed avocado was light which allows the patron to adjust at will. I had to roll with more black pepper for sure. I am fan when avocado toast comes with a thick piece of toast underneath. The multigrain toast was delicious and so was its texture. The feta offered that nice saltiness and the cherry tomatoes a bit of acidity and sweetness to the toast. A drizzle of olive oil here would of been a nice addition to get that velvety texture going. The cafe au lait was bold in flavor and yet smooth and easy to drink. It was a medium blend, but it played as if it was darker. It worked and I dug it. The staff members were all nice and helpful. I would say, I wish there were more inside seating for when the cooler or even colder month arrive. This is going to be a very busy location. Ahem, I'm feeling buzzed already. read more

After my friend found out I had never tried Better Buzz, she HAD to take me to try. I think she said this was a new location, and she was excited to see how the decor and set-up would be. This place is SUPER "instagram-able" - just stop by and you'll see what I mean! Parking can be difficult as it is DT LJ, so just be mindful of any time-constricted parking spots! There's a good amount of seating here, but note that it's an outdoor patio/open air set-up, so if it ever gets cold, you don't have much cover. Best Drink Ever ($4.25): I thought it was funny they had this drink name, but my friend said it lives up to it. I decided to follow her suggestion for my first drink, and after she let me know it was non-dairy, it made me even more inclined to try (lactose-intolerant!!). This is pretty darn good, and if there was a closer/easier location to get to, I would definitely stop by more often. Super interested in trying out their other drinks - they also had a sign with some holiday specials that caught my eye (Peppermint Matcha!!); they also have a pretty large food menu ranging from sandwiches, acai bowls, and even soft serve! read more

It tasted like a chalky sugary filling with soggy nuts. I had to ask my friend what he ordered because I couldn't figure out the taste. The croissant tasted nothing like pistachio, though the tint of green could have made me think it was something green. Always yummy coffee in a beautifully airy space! Love this location! Never super busy and always clean, airy and bright. The staff there are always pleasant. We don't stray to far from what we typically order. I always order a large iced hazelnut divinity with oat milk and Hubz always orders a large iced best drink ever, cause in his opinion, it is literally the best drink ever! Since we didn't have the kids, we didn't grab what they typically get. Next time you head to see the seals or just stroll around La Jolla, stop by Better Buzz to get your caffeine fix. Also, if you feel as though you won't be able to find parking, there's a 30 minute parking area right in front. I think it's about 3-4 car lengths. People always park and take off within the 30 minute time allotment, so parking to grab some coffee and a snack is pretty easy here. read more
