This place has horrible customer service ZERo Stars.!!! So I needed some cheese that this place carries that is very delicious and expressive , I called and talked to some one and told them I would be coming in the next hr to pick up this specific amount of cheese and type to the side so it could be in and out when I get there. they said not a problem and that they could have up front my cheese waiting for me . So when I get there .. there isn't any cheese waiting for me and the guy who took the phone call is nowhere to be found . To make matters worse there is a line the cheese department and this is what I was trying not to deal with when I get there.. needed to ne in and out so I could make this dinner party. So after waiting a very long time the guy in the cheese department was able to help me. In the mean while I tracked down a manager to tell them what happened and he was no help to me . Pretty much un useful and not that caring about the situation. the least he could of done was in stead of me waiting over 15mins to be helped was he could of helped me or tried to take care of the situation. Gave me a discount or something for waiting so long . I mean what the point of calling and having thing be put on the side for you if your not going to do that ?!?!? The NICEST staff, and they were so kind! As soon as I walked in and used the foam hand sanitizer, I slapped my hands together and got some in my eye. The greeter saw it and checked on me to make sure I was okay and offered water! Then, I had a really kind lady lead me over to the sour selection and called over someone else who was more than happy to provide me with some of the best recommendations from her sour expertise! I particularly like this BevMo because of the excellent cheese selection that I haven't found in the Albany, Orinda, and Jack London Square stores that I occasionally frequent. And it's also a convenient trip from work and then on to Gayle's house. However, if trip convenience wasn't an issue, I probably would have ended up at Farmstead in Montclair or Alameda. I came in a few days ago for wine, cheese, and crackers to bring to an evening party Gayle and I were attending. It had lots to choose from and came away with what we were looking for. I also ended up buying a nice bottle of bourbon since a very occasional mixed drink is nice, especially when my parents from Iowa are in town. read more

The "more" now includes sandwiches! Which makes sense because their deli is full of top notch cheeses and meats just itching to be put between some slices of bread with a nice selection of condiments. When we stopped in on a Thursday night, they had at least six different cheeses available for tasting. I somehow limited our purchase to only two wedges -- one of which I had never had before and may very well become a new favorite. We also picked up some fresh mozzarella to go with tomatoes and basil from our garden. Oh, and some olives for good measure. My honey found some beers that he had researched and wanted to try and we definitely took advantage of the 5¢ sale to restock our wine rack. They have done some major house cleaning since I was here last. They have made a lot of room and it seems a heck of a lot cleaner. The cheese selection is good and the staff is ready to answer your questions. The free samples were really good today. I have never eaten them before but they must have just refilled them right before we got there because I tried at least 3 different free samples of chips and cheese. My main reason for stopping by here was for my friends birthday on Monday and she is also like 5 1/2 month pregnant and cant drink regular sodas. Like ones with caffeine. So we went and bought her all kinds of different sodas without caffeine. Mainly root beers and ginger ales have no caffeine so we bought about a six pack for her. I just hope they taste good. We were also looking for a root beer liqueur for my husband to try and make some mixed drinks but they were out of the smaller bottle of the one we wanted and we didn't feel like spending $20 on a big bottle of something we didn't even know would be good. Customer service is great and regardless you cant beat the selections. This used to be the only place you could get Sailor Jerry Rum and now Safeway even has it. They had a wine tasting today, which I've never fell upon before. It was weird. Lots of 50-60ish couples, with their wine glasses in little protective carriers (Bevmo provides tiny, tiny plastic cups if you're not carrying,) who hover over the cheese/cracker station while grabbing free wine "tastes" left and right. Then there was the late 20ish girl who was ever so proud of her ability to "taste the blackberry." Over and over. However, one of the 60ish year old guys brought my kids stationed outside the tasting area an entire napkin filled w cheese squares and crackers to busy themselves while I tried one (over-rated) red. What a nice man. Yay. Sidebar: I asked the check-out guy when the next 5 cent sale was and he got all bitter and came back with "Why do you people always ask this? Store Policy, I can't tell bc you'd only come then!!" Silence... Yes, you're right, I would only come then. And it's the only time I buy wine. No wine in my cart today, but thanks for the tasting, yeah. So, when is Sapphire going to be a Bevmo discount card special? Wink. read more

I went to Walnut Creek to see a doctor & he prescribed 10 beers for me. Really. That is to say that the Walnut Creek BevMo had a "Stone Brewing Beer & Cheese Pairing with "Dr." Bill Sysak" event in their tasting area. I'm already a big fan of BevMo, but the nice, little separated section of this store for tastings really put it over the top for me. &, of course, the subject matter was something near & dear to my taste buds: beer & food (cheese, in this case) pairing. "Dr." (he explained he was formerly a combat medic & the nickname stuck) Bill Sysak has something of a cult status in beer circles so it was sweet that he came up from Escondido. I wasn't the only 1 who'd heard of this event. The tasting area was completely full. The good doctor led a packed house through 5 different cheeses each paired with 2 different Stone beers. It was fun, it was informative, it was delicious. Afterwards, the featured Stone beers were available for purchase & autograph by Dr. Bill. So, yeah, I went to Walnut Creek to see a doctor & got to drink beer & eat cheese with him. It was grand. read more

Bevmo is where I come and get the $2 tastings on Fridays every so often. You can't beat a $2 tasting of 4-5 wines and 2 beers/other beverages. But recently they changed their policy so now you have to prepay and it went up to $5. It used to be that you get a ticket and pay $2 after you are done tasting and if you purchase $10 or more, the tasting is free. But now you have to buy $20 worth of stuff to use the $5 coupon, they charge you tax on the $5 ticket initially and you stand in line a second time after the tasting if you want to purchase anything. Inefficient and annoying. However, Mark who does the tastings is really cool. He even gave us extra pours because he is that kind of generous person. I usually purchase a bottle of wine after, and this time I picked up some cheese and garlic cheese toast too because we have to get $20 worth of stuff. The wines are fun to try and I always enjoy stopping in for a quick tasting after work on Friday. If they could change the policy where either you can pay after or have a pay station near the tastings, it would be more convenient and efficient. read more

My only gripe is sometimes they scan my ID sometimes they just look at it. I was also carded just to buy water and my best-friend was carded and was not making a purchase. One of the larger East Bay locations, BevMo is one of those stores where if you forget your list, you'll still end up with other things that you would have purchased anyway had you brought that list. Plenty of beer and wine as usual, though they have more of a chilled selection than they used to. They have their own deli counter as well with specialty salads, meats and cheeses, and every visit for me includes picking up their jalapeno artichoke dip which goes with just about anything. One more way in/out of the parking lot would be nice though, it's right by the entrance to 680 and there is almost always traffic in that stretch. Their much hyped buy one bottle, get the second for 5 cent wine sale, formerly a holiday-only promotion, is now featured several times a year. Too bad they don't do that with tequila. read more

I'm no shill for Total Wine, however the BevMo person who answered said they don't price match! Comments welcome from other Yelpers or store management. So I went in with a friend for alcohol she was going to purchase . I personally don't hold my belongings with me when I'm not in there to buy stuff myself . Anyways the manager there who is working 5/25/2021 , denied alcohol purchase to my friend because she couldn't scan my I'd that was bent and I was not purchasing the alcohol my friend was and her passport was perfectly in tack . She refused to sell alcohol for this reason . Very unprofessional she needs to be revised as a manger she is rude and just lost a sell to BevMo. read more

The customer service at this BevMo! Is absolutely horrendous. I've yet to have an encounter with a staff member without them being rude and incredibly unhelpful. This location is closer than others to me but I will no longer be giving my business to them. I always find what I need because everything is organized, well stocked, and the employees here are always helpful and very knowledgable! This is my favorite BevMo in the area. It's a large store but easy to navigate. Employees are friendly and helpful. There's a big parking lot with lots of parking. And they have a pretty decent cheese selection (sometimes even sample plates of cheese are sitting out). Their prices are standard BevMo. Some items are a great deal here, especially when they have sales! And they have a huge selection. Lots of different brands of Bloody Mary mix to choose from - and tons of different beers both breweries both locally and around the world. Also, lots of snacks in here. So if youre planning a party you can make one stop for disposable shot glasses, something to fill them with, and some food items too. They even carry a couple types of caviar to serve with your wine and cheese! read more

What a welcome sight: cost-efficient brie - mixed with mushrooms, mixed with garlic, extra creamy! How I love thee. But the real kicker was the fact that they carried TWO kinds of Vouvray. It's like pulling teeth to find this wine. I've searched high and low, near and far. And there it is at BevMo: not one kind but two. *swoons* The moment I placed my fingertips on the Vouvray of my choice (I had to CHOOSE! I love the BevMo on Oak Grove near Ygnacio Valley Rd. However, I thought I would stop into this one while I was out and about on this part of town as I needed to get some things and it looks quite a bit larger than my regular store. That being said, I couldn't find anyone to help me. When I finally did find someone, he said he'd be right back. After 10 minutes, I left my cart and the items in it and walked out of the store. I won't be back. I never have a problem finding someone to help me at the Oak Grove store. In fact, I rarely have to find them...they walk around and find me and other customers ask if we are finding everything. They are always very helpful. What a difference between stores. So, on the way home from the store that I won't go back to, I stopped at my regular store on Oak Grove. Not only did they have what I was looking for to begin with, but I ended up spending another $100. read more

Not sure if I will need to call my sponsor after writing this review, but this place is like the grown ups Toys R Us. There is pretty much any and every kind of alcohol you can imagine. They have beers from the smaller microbreweries as well as the large mass distributed adult beverages. I like how their wine isles are organized. It's done by varietal and then goes into countries. I still have yet to find a good Chilean wine even though I've only heard amazing things. Every one I've tried has too much pepper for me. Anyways, they have the $. 05 cent sale. You buy one bottle and then get the second one only $.05. Now on to the hard stuff. There are so many types of every kind of hard alcohol you can think of. There are probably about 50 kinds of vodkas. Anywhere from the crap of the crap to the good stuff straight from Russia. They also have every mixer that you would want for a cocktail concoction. On your way to the check out, they have bar ware as well as food snacks. Those get me every time for some reason. Apparently every time I check out I need pretzels. Including the best Top notch Tequila such as Don Julio 1942, good Vodka Belvedere/Grey Goose and one of my personal favorites Zubrowka Bison grass Vodka. and the latest craze "Fireball". That's that cinnamon whiskey, it will catch up to you and next thing you know, you are "LIT". Items are easy to find. Every so often they have there .5 cent wine sale. The prices are reasonable for a Liquor House. This particular location has good appetizers for sale, such as cheese and crackers, pita chips..etc Parking can be hit or miss depending on the day, it's part of a shopping center.
