    a receipt for a sandwich

I love that there's a bakery with pre-made sandwiches for me so I could quickly get something for lunch. Their sandwiches are $2 and they have pork sung sandwich, tuna sandwich, and fried egg sandwich. I got the pork sung sandwich and it was delicious. The bread was buttered and the pork sung was tasty. It also had cucumber which I love!I also bought the fried egg sandwich today, but I have not tried it yet because I'm saving it for my lunch tomorrow. They also have a variety of breads both sweet and savory but I haven't tried them yet. I will be sure to update this when I do! TIP - everything that is made here MUST be purchased here at this counter, not at the regular check out!

When you enter the market you will see the big sign on your right.

Note** this bakery is INSIDE of the 99 Ranch market. They operate separately from the market. Just like 85c and Little Swan, you get a plastic tray, wax paper, and tongs. Then you pick whichever pastries your heart desires. I have tried.. Jalapeño Cheddar Hotdog Bread ($1.79) - this looked really good and so it was. It was very savory and the bread itself was very nice and light(not dense).. There is a perfect amount of cheese and the jalapeños aren't too spicy. They brush the top with some type of light sweet syrup which really adds to it and makes it look glossy! I would definitely recommend this if you like jalapeños cheese and hotdogs! Oolong Tea Latte (S $3.25 L$3.75) - this was way too watered down for me and it was actually a recommendation from the cashier. Stay away. Don't forget to check out the deli right next to it.. It's operated by 99 ranch and is hella good for pig ear, cold cucumber, bean curd, etc.. I'll update review once I try a few other pastries and possibly drop the score or keep it the same.

After fulfilling my wishes for real coffee…read morewith Yihui and Monolith, the pastry God has answered my call for flaky crunchy fancy schmancy croissants in the West SGV. We tried the kimchi bacon with salted egg, pistacchio Dubai chocolate, plain, and a couple of cream puffs. All the croissants were deliciously crunchy flaky, my favorite is the pistacchio Dubai chocolate but the kimchi was also very creative. All the cream puffs were also great but personally croissants are harder to perfect for me so this is the spot for that. I also had a pistacchio cream latte that was delicious as well. The pricing is on the higher side compared to other pastries but if you're used to getting croissants elsewhere like at Delight (Pasadena), Bread Lounge (DTLA), Friends & Family (Los Feliz) then this is on par. With the care that goes into making the pastries here, they are justified to charge this type of pricing.

Browned seemed to start it's popularity via the choux but expanding its wings into croissants as well. The choux was quite petite so it's perfect that you had to order in minimum set of 4, also meaning able to try different flavors as they offered plenty. We tried Earl Grey, Maple Pecan with Chocolate coating, Hojicha with Black Sesame, and Taro with Salted Egg Yolk. They were all so peculiar and luscious in their own way and you'd be pleased by the full stuffing. If I had to pick my top 2 I would go to the last 2 and the Taro Salted Egg was even not to skip IMO. Perfect blend of sweet and salty flavors in one bite. Both the Hojicha and earl grey served very solid tea flavors with bit hint of bitterness. They did regular drop for the choux for pre order, but if you prefer looking at the showcase then making choices just like me, worry not as ordering was pretty swift and no long line.

I kept thinking, *"How many boba shops do we really need?"* One thing that stood out was their ordering system - they don't use the usual percentage options for sweetness and ice. Instead, they have "Perfect Sweet" and "Perfect Ice." Whatever that means, right? I was still skeptical. I waited until I got home so my wife and I could try it together. Mind. Blown. Even though it's a bit of a drive for us, we've already gone back three times in a month. That might not sound like much to some people, but for us to make a special trip just for boba says everything. It's not the fastest. You'll probably wait 5-10 minutes in full, but perfection takes time, and it's absolutely worth it. Suggestion: a stamp or loyalty card would be awesome. No disrespect to the brand, but I think the real Torotea fans would appreciate it.

They provide self-serve water outside of the store in the case that there is a long wait. Fortunately, this has never been the case when I have visited. The employees were also super helpful and very well-versed with their menu. They knew exactly what drink paired well with what jelly. All the drinks are true to the taste profile as described on the website. The Popcorn Milk Tea with Brown Sugar Tapiochi is one of the most popular items and it was indeed very buttery. It had a very unique taste profile, but definitely not for me. I personally really really really enjoyed the Misty Oolong MT which had a light-roasted, malty flavor with subtle buttery highlights. It paired perfectly with the osmanthus jelly. The best drink Torotea has to offer by far!
