My boyfriend is an accomplished Chef, so we have a very hard time finding restaurants that are satisfactory. This is the only restaurant in the metro-Detroit area that we frequent. The menu choices are a spectacularly broad range of asian dishes, and they carry my favorite drink: Zipang sparkling sake (a little pricey, but soooo delicious! try it plain, not with the foofy fruity stuff they will offer to put in it). We usually get the Wagyu Ros and cook it ourselves on the table grill, just searing it so it's like butter..... my mouth is watering as i write this! Come hungry because they bring tons of side dishes with any entree, and they are all-you-can-eat! The owners and service staff are incredibly gracious hosts and we are always very well taken care of. Bi Bim Bap is good. I eat a lot of Korean food in LA and I wasn't disappointed. I had the Bi Bim Bap. It was just as I know it from other Korean establishments. They had all the little sides and everything! The only thing tricky about this place is the location. Didnt really care for the food here, but to service was decent, perhaps because we had korean speakers in our group. The beef bimbimbap didnt have good flavor, and the stone pot wasnt hot enough to make the rice hot or crunchy. The sushi wasnt well-made either, with the "spicy tuna" lacking any spice at all (and I have a very low tolerance when it comes to spice). My husband's kalbi tang was a good choice though. I've eaten here over a dozen times... stopping by every month or two. The food is consistently good, the service varies from excellent to mediocre depending on the time and day that you visit. The wife and I usually show up on the weekend around lunch and the staff can be a bit lethargic at times, but they are never rude or irritating. The korean bbq can be a little pricey but that is fairly standard for korean bbq joints (at least that is my experience from the bbq restaurants in Chicago). We usually get an order of the KALBI SAL (non-marinated sliced beef) and the PORK BELLY (don't know the name). What really makes the meal is the salt/pepper/sesame oil dipping sauce... AWESOME!!! I'm pretty sure you could dip garbage in that sauce and it would taste amazing. The salad that they bring out has a dressing on it that is almost as awesome as the sesame dipping sauce. Do you remember the part in the movie Stepbrothers where Will Ferrell is singing and John Reilly tells him that his voice is angelic and "is a combination of Fergie and Jesus"? Yeah, that's a perfect description of the sesame dipping sauce and the salad dressing... To be honest, I usually stick to what I know is going to taste great and satisfy the eating experience that I've envisioned when I make the decision to drive here. I always get the SOON DUBU JJIGAE (spicy tofu and seafood soup) and recently have been getting the NAKJI BOKKEUM (spicy octopus and veggies... they add some noodles which is a nice touch). Both dishes are solid and I will probably keep eating them until I get sick of the same thing. I'm sure there are plenty of other items on the menu that are excellent as well. The banchan are nothing special but they will keep refilling any of your favorites. The sushi is average but who cares? I go here for the Korean food! Anyway, hit this place up. I would have given it 4.5 stars, with a 1/2 star deduction due to the less than stellar service and banchan. read more

We ate this week and had a new server. It might have been his first week. Why didn't another server made sure he took the orders correctly? He couldn't answer the questions about the menu and had to go back to the kitchen several times. I place more blame on the restaurant than the server. My family of five went to this restaurant for the first time because the birthday boy wanted Korean BBQ (his first time for BBQ). We had a great experience from the moment I had to call to make sure I was in the right location to the server who was very attentive and helpful. We felt welcomed as the service was top notch. We chose the basic BBQ combination and added a #35 and #34. We were not disappointed with any of it. At first we thought we may have ordered too much, but that was a good portion for 5 (incl 2 kids) as we did not have anything to take out. I can definitely see myself returning. read more

The food and service were very good. You better enjoy spicy food or you should choose another venue. I thought the waitress was really really pushing us towards their more expensive choices, sort of weird. We really wanted to try the Monk Fish but we were directed towards a mixed seafood dish. The korean BBQ was very expensive for the small portions. But if you order non BBQ items, it's pretty decent pricing. The spicy seafood noodles and jap chae were good. The soon dubu chigae was kind of bland. Stone bowl Bi Bim Bap was pretty good, as the name suggests. I would come here for the stone bowl bi bim bap, but if you want korean BBQ I suggest going somewhere else. Also, the service can be a bit sketchy, depending if it was busy or not. Oh yeah Location is completely hidden, its in the lower floor of the office building next to Mongos. Let the smells of BBQ guide you. read more

THEY ARE RACISTS! UPCHARGE EVERYTHING! We work down the street from them, they are always changing the prices on us without notice. They charge $1.00 for extra spicy sauce. They never package the food correctly. We love to go there because its convenient. We stopped going there and the owner gives us dirty looks because they see us going across the street to another restaurant. read more

We have been going to Bi Bim Bap since it opened - when we were there tonight my husband looked up and said "We have never had a bad meal here" - and it's completely true. It is one of the most consistent restaurants we have ever been to. The sushi is always extremely fresh and well prepared. Bi Bim Bab feels like a secret place because it is hidden deep in the bowels of a weird, mostly empty office building with no signage to guide you to it. I am so glad that I happened upon it last year because it is definitely the best Korean restaurant I've been to in the Detroit area. My favorite thing to order is the pork/tofu/kimchi sizzling dish. It is perfect; the pork is charred just enough to give it good flavor, and the sauce is incredible. It is large enough for two people to share, as it comes with rice and banchan. I tried the shrimp tempura as well last time, and it was very good. The tempura coating was nice and raggedy, allowing for plenty of crunch and sauce adhesion. I wish I lived closer so I could eat there more often! read more

By far my favorite Korean BBQ in Michigan located close by in Novi. This place is great, authentic, and fresh. Their wagu kalbi (beef) is like butter, and be sure not to ruin by over cooking it. I'm a big fan of their dumplings to start, but don't order 10 pieces when you're with two people. Save room for the spicy pork and the bi bim bap. You will not be disappointed here. They have exhaust fans above every table, but be prepared to shower and dry clean your clothes after. A small sacrifice for a delicious meal I could enjoy once a week. Enjoy! read more

Yum! I met a friend here for lunch and we ordered the combination. I did not like how the waitress took it upon herself to put all of the meet on the grill for us, thanks but no thanks! Next time we come I will not get the combination, instead i'll just stick with a red meet and maybe the shrimp, the chicken sucked. The staff was friendly, and the service was good minus the grill incident. The wine was reasonably priced and the interior esthetics were appealing. The food is very fresh. There are many side dishes. The meat is cooked in the middle of the table. Salad was very spicy but good, seaweed was very bitter, broccoli in peanut sauce was very good, fresh bean sprouts, good, white rice, there was a marinaded red napa cabbage dish that was very spicy. Didn't care for that much. Went here to celebrate a birthday. That was great fun. A large crowd of people sang happy birthday in english and then korean. The dessert was very different. It was like a pastry with ice cream in the middle, coconut, whipped cream and pineapple. Very tasty. read more

This is my family's go-to Korean restaurant. We usually end up going at least twice a month, and both my husband and two year-old son love it as well. The BBQ (order the Wagyu beef!!) is excellent but I also enjoy the Kimchee JiGae (kimchee stew in a hot stone bowl) in the colder months as well as the BiBimBap (also served in a stoneware bowl, which makes the rice crispy on the bottom). Their menu options are so diverse that my husband can get his Chicken Katsu (a Japanese dish) and our son can get his Miso soup. One lady Connie, not even our waitress but I think a woman who cleans the tables, showed me how to eat the Bi Bim Bab dish correctly, by mixing the ingredients, she gave us tips and recommendations along the way. Also, their food is as authentic as anything we tasted while we were in South Korea a few years ago. Super tasty, good portions and reasonably priced. First of all, seats are uncomfortable. There are no "backs" to lean on. Second, way over priced. Probably the worst Korean bbq ever tried.

I have been living in Novi for 7 years now and just recently found out about this place. It is tucked behind BD's mongolian bbq in a building that is nearly vacant. The Bibimbab is delicious, I have had both the Chicken and Beef and both were superb. I have not yet gotten the Korean bbq, but that is on the list to get soon. The waitstaff is very nice, but English is definitely their second language so asking questions about the menu was difficult. I have already been back within a week of finding this gem and already have more plans to go back, the food there is delicious. read more

This used to be one of our favorite Japanese restaurants but tonight was a totally different story. When you walk in you are normally asked "will you be using the grill." We said no and then the hostess sat us at a table with a grill. Then our waitress came up to us asked us for our drink order. We ordered our drinks and then she brought our drinks to us and got our order. After taking our order she comes back when I am pouring myself some sake and she says "since you are not using the grill can you change tables. This table is for people who are using the grill." I then tell the women that the hostess knew we were not ordering anything from the grill and still sat us there. The waitress continued to say the same thing repetitively. Then they moved us to the empty part of the restaurant by the restrooms and the waitress was just saying sorry u shouldn't of been sat there anyway. we got up and walked out. This is terrible customer service and I am very dissatisfied with them. read more
