My wife and I love this place! Eat there every time we can afford to! The staff is absolutely amazing. They even added a patio in the past couple weeks to accommodate outside dining. We order breakfast sandwiches all the time, cause they're that good! Once, they sent me the wrong sandwich, and I almost felt bad complaining about it, because they offered to fix it as soon as I called. Ehh. Just moved and Big Apple is right down the road. We love to eat out for breakfast on the weekends and having something so close would have been nice but unfortunately it was underwhelming. The staff was very nice and we were seated right away on a Sunday morning, however, the food just wasn't great. This place needs to learn to season. Absolutely nothing we ate was seasoned at all. No salt/pepper on the home-fries or omelette and no vanilla/cinnamon in the French toast or waffle. I ordered cream cheese, banana, and strawberry stuffed French toast. I could not taste the cream cheese at all (my favorite part of stuffed French toast) and it was so runny it was a pink blob around the toast. And because it was not seasoned basically tasted like bread. It could have definitely been cooked longer as well. Waffle was nice and fluffy on the inside and crunchy on the outside. Cooked perfectly but unfortunately bland. My boyfriend said the omelette was just ok (I didn't personally try it). Other people seem to really like it here but I don't think that we will be returning unless they start seasoning their food. I'm sure this practice carries over into everything they make. read more

It's open seating and they come to take your order when they can. They took our drink order fast but our food took almost 30 min to receive. I have been here a few times. Hey, need to give a new place a chance, right?! When they first opened, we waited for a long time to get menus at our table and after we ordered it took 45 minutes for our lunch come out but the food was pretty good. Second time, Very slow to get menus, very long time to get our food and my cold sandwich was warn as if it was under a heat lamp, the onion rings had 2 different kinds as if they ran out and had to go to the supermarket for more to fill my order. Today, we waited 20 minutes before I asked a waitress if we could get the table washed, get menus and if I could get something to drink. Ordered fish and chips (Onion rings), waited 30 minutes for the order to come out, the fried fish was good but my onion rings were just room temperature, YUCK!!!! The inside is very loud and echoes pretty bad. I would not want to go to this place if it was busy! I will not be returning to Big Apple as a 1 hour lunch seems to turn into 2 hours and the food is less then marginal at best . . . . Service was horrendous and mind-bogglingly slow. My husband and I arrived before the couple sitting behind us and they finished their meal and paid before we even received our food. Let me start off by saying that I have been a customer of the big apple for 3 years now. The food here is EXCELLENT. I have never had a meal that I have not enjoyed. My family and myself come at least once a week. Normally I would not do something like this but unfortunately it is not the first time this has happened to us. Over the past few months the wait staff has changed and for the most part the new staff is EXCELLENT, but their is one waitress there she is a older blonde haired woman and she has waited on us a few different times. The first time she was very unpleasant so my wife and I figured she was having a bad day, but we have had her several times now and her aggressive personality is there every time. We are to the point now that if when we go she is working we will be leaving. She is unpleasant to customers and her fellow employees from what we have witnessed. Recommended by an acquaintance, brought the fam here this morning. We're BIG breakfast people and have driven miles to try new places. This is not a destination restaurant. Service is spotty. I almost got run over on my way to my table by a clueless server who decided she had the right of way over a customer. Took 5 min to put in a drink order. When the server finally came to take our food order, she immediately excused herself to attend the table next to us, leaving us hanging. It took longer than usual to see our food. Meanwhile, other tables that had been seated after us were served before us. The first two dishes - pancakes - came out about 5 min apart. My dish, a Benedict, arrived 10 min later, after the pancakes had almost been finished. The server mentioned "... an egg incident that happens more often than I care to admit" While waiting for our food, (btw the restaurant was not that busy), I looked around the small room and noticed a very dirty floor - bits of food, creamer containers, straw wrappers, not really I'd want to look at while I ate. The good itself? Decent, normal fare. 2.5 out of 5. Nothing to write home about. We go to many places that make their own hash, or have signature dishes, or are a great value. Not here. read more

Stopped by Big Apple for breakfast and was happy to see that there is still a place that offers good food at a reasonable price. I had a pancake (they are big so I only needed one), eggs and bacon for $5.68. They have Early Bird specials too for like $3-$4. I guess the new ownership made a difference because the past reviews look pretty bad. Glad things are better now. They get crowded but the ladies do a great job of keeping things flowing in the dining area. The reason that I gave them a 4 out of 5 is because it takes way too long for the food to come out of the kitchen. I think that they should hire extra kitchen help on the weekends OR offer some type of complimentary snack for patiently waiting, starving guests. I will go again and hope not to have to wait so long for the food to come out of the kitchen. Oh and if you have a group of 6 or more, call ahead. read more

Our party is in town for a family event. We were here for brunch around 11 AM. The service was good, the food was great! I went here over the summer with my mum. She uses a walker and both entrances have stairs which are difficult for her to climb and maneuver even if I'm holding her walker. I was not overly impressed with the food. I got the pancakes with sausage which were good but standard. My mum got the mini potato cakes and bacon which she enjoyed. The coffee was unremarkable. I am not normally moved to write bad reviews but here it goes.... we entered and there were two parties waiting before us and we were told 10min wait, even though there were several tables open and clean. We did only wait the promised 10min to be seated but then waited 15min with no attention. Meanwhile I saw the hostess direct a waitress to go check in to a table that was seated after us. I had to implore the hostess to get our waitress and was told she was on the phone. She came and took our order (half-hearted "sorry") and 15min later, still no food. The food was piled on a tiny plate such that pieces kept falling off as I dug in. It was also very loud, partly due to the table for 4 that had 8 people seated next to us. But no ambience it is furnished and looks like my old high school cafeteria. The noise level because of bad acoustics made me feel ill. It is so loud even though everyone is speaking in regular tone that you may not be comfortable . If the decor is more welcoming and the noise problem is fixed it would be a wonderful place. Perfect for brunch for my family on a Sunday. I called earlier in the week to find out how busy they might be at 11:30am as I didn't want my large party waiting an hour. They said their busy hour is usually at the start of the morning around 8:30. The tables were full and there were only a handful of 2s and 3s waiting ahead of us when we arrived and we didn't wait long at all. Good service and good food. Everyone enjoyed. Multiple times I have had to wait 20 minutes for my food to be ready, after it was supposed to be ready 30 minutes before I arrived to pick it up. I have gotten in the habit of ordering my food in advance much earlier than I'm going to pick it up so the food will be ready by the time I get there... Yesterday when I went to go pick up my food they did not even have the order, but you better believe they charged me for it. They said, "we can make it right now"... But that defeats the purpose of me picking it up on the way home from work and preordering while on a time crunch to sleep for a few hours before going back to work. We were sat quickly, then waited and waited for coffee, then placed our orders and waited and waited and waited and waited for our food. She never came back, and a different person brought us the check (our waitress never checked back in to see how everything was). The check included the hash that was never received, so I asked the bill be corrected. Our original waitress came over to question our assertion that the bill was wrong, and when I explained we never got all our food, she said "really?" (WTF, YES REALLY). The new location is nice and much bigger, however the good food and service did not transfer alongside. Service was mediocre, but it was fairly busy for a Saturday late am. Food was just downright terrible. My daughter got French toast which had a rubbery consistency and she wouldn't eat (I don't blame her) and my omelet was watery with barely any egg (super thin) and the contents inside didn't seem cooked (ham and mushroom). Went here because I had a Groupon... it was nothing special. Food was bland... home fries were cut too thick and weren't crispy enough. Not salt on anything and worst part - fake maple syrup. I also had allergies that flared up while I was there which happens sometimes when there is MSG in the food... so that might be something to look out for.
