My son calls this the best food in the world, and it really is the best food in Salem in my humble opinion. We don't eat here too often because as a family of 4 it can get expensive but it's 100% worth it, the times we do stop by. I have never seen my 4 year old son eat so much food anywhere he loves this place, he's such a picky eater so it's pretty amazing! I've been eating at their food truck in Salem for a long while so I was stoked when they opened a restaurant down the street from the truck. They have new items on the menu and some of the same as the truck.. It's all a yummy food. But, the Gai Wings are out of this world. Little grilled chicken wings sent from the food gods. This is hands down one of my husband and my favorite places is Salem. I have always loved Thai food, but this cart was my first introduction to Thai style BBQ. And man is it amazing! I would like to refute some of the criticism that others have given. First, some have said that it is too expensive. I highly disagree. Everything is fresh and homemade, even the dipping sauces. You can't get that kind of quality for super cheap. When something tastes that good and is that fresh, you pay a bit more, but it is so worth it. Second, many said that they are slow. My question is, if you were cooking this at home, how long would it take you? If it takes a bit longer for them to make the food, so be it. Again, the quality of food they make is worth the wait. Plus, if you are really on a crunch for time, give them a call and make your order a few minutes ahead of time. They are such wonderful people and they are happy to take phone orders. By the time you arrive, your food will be ready. Problem solved. I just want to reiterate that this is an amazing spot in Salem that the town needs more of. My favorites are the Tom Kha, the Blue-Green Curry, the Spicy Peanut Curry, and the Spicy Grilled Pork Salad. Our favorite Thai restaurant was closed so we tried Big Blue for take-out. The first thing we noticed was the menu seemed limited and they were out of ribs. The food was good although the portions were small compared to what we normally get elsewhere and that was slightly disappointing. All in all, we spent more money on less food. Tried the spicy pork papaya salad (the salad comes on the side), and salad rolls (served with peanut and fish sauce) today. My husband always has to get the Thai sausage (which comes with sticky rice and veggies). I don't know why I waited so long to try this place but now we are becoming regulars. Great food, friendly staff, and decent prices. My boyfriend and I came here to grab to-go orders on a Sunday and there was a flea market going on. We easily found parking on the street so it was not a big issue. I tried the peanut curry with chicken and it was delicious! It really hit my comfort zone and I was super happy at the end. There were a lot of vegetables and chicken in it and I was pretty full with the portion size. I wish it was a little bit more spicy, but that's just my preference. My bf tried the super best combo and he thought he was great. The ribs tasted amazing as well as the grilled pork. The papaya salad was BOMB. They were great and made it spicier for us (even though I thought everything could be a little bit more spicy). We also tried the potstickers, but they were nothing special to me. They were fully fried and I like them pan-fried on one side. They have a very limited menu and which they seem work really hard to put out the best quality. So this is a review for their opening day at their restaurant which I believe was on February 28th. I can't remember everything we had but we did have the super best combo, Thai sausage, Gai Wings, A salad and Pot stickers. Overall I would give the food a 4 but definitely has potential for higher ratings. Service was just OK so a 3 but it was their opening day and they had some toilet problems. So considering that and I put more weight on the food than service, it would be closer to 4 than a 3. Rounding up it I would give it a 4. read more

This is by far my favorite place to eat in Salem! Everything is delicious. The owners are also super nice and provide excellent service. They have a garlic lime spicy sauce that has an amazing taste which compliments the ribs and rice just right. The papaya salad is fresh with delicious toasted peanuts. All of their dishes are a flavorful roller coaster of fresh and authentic flavors. Love, love this place. They aren't joking with the spice though. I ordered my salad medium spicy and it had a kick! In town to see the in-laws. Smelled this place driving past and turned around. Soo glad I did. We had the smoked ribs and chicken satay. Now being from Tennessee I love bbq and know when it's good. The saving grace is the positive customer service I received from the woman behind the coach. The restaurant is outside and Im sun sensitive so I didn't enjoy that part. Absolutley DELICIOUS and authentic thai food. All food is prepared in the food truck and on the little grill out behind it, and you can sit outside at their one table (they're working on expanding seating) or inside their little restaurant. My boyfriend had the ribs with the best papaya salad I've ever tasted and I got the spicy pork salad. Both dishes were divine. I would go back and eat here every single day if I lived closer! CliffsNotes: First of all, the BBQ is delicious! Second, the owners are genuine and friendly. Third, They are moving to South Salem! In the Candelaria Shopping Center parking lot. They've only been open 3 months and I've been meaning to try this place; I'm glad I did before they moved to their new location (which I will also frequent). There were 3 of us dining so we ordered BBQ ribs, BBQ pork, papaya salad and spring rolls. One person also ordered a Thai iced tea which they said had a great balance of flavor and I ordered a Thai iced tea with lime sans cream. My favorite (and oh so tasty) on a hot summer day. We ordered our papaya salad with medium spice and it was the perfect amount of spicy. If you are not a fan of spicier food though, be safe and order mild. The papaya salad mixed with a bit of rice made for an awesome combination. Speaking of rice, the owner informed us that despite the PERFECT sticky texture of the rice it was, in fact, jasmine rice as opposed to sticky rice. We were told a massaging technique is what lends to the complexity of the rice. Bring it on! I cannot stress enough how a good rice can contribute to a dish and their rice is TOP NOTCH. Each type of BBQ'd meat came with a different thai sauce for dipping. The ribs were moist and succulent and the garlic chili sauce included gave the meat the best flavor. The BBQ pork had wonderful seasoning and is perfect for anyone looking for a paleo type salad. Even though a lot of food was ordered, AND EATEN :D, the food did not leave us feeling heavy and tired; everything tasted fresh and healthy. Our first visit today - after seeing the nice article about this food truck and the owners in the paper. My wife and I purchased the Spicy Grilled Pork Salad, one order of Pot Stickers and 1/3 Rack of BBQ Rib with spicy Papaya Salad. The owner brings out the Pot Stickers....oh my.....8 pieces and we both could have eaten 2 orders they are so good, the inside filled with wonderful flavors and the dipping sauce not spicy hot but just the right Thai flavors. The Spicy Grilled Pork Salad has a great taste and at the first bite the mouth is savoring all those wonderful flavors and then slowly the heat comes along providing a second round of great flavor. Lastly the meaty Thai BBQ'd Pork Ribs....these are so good, cooked just right and with a gentle and very tasty seasoning. Remember, this is a FOOD TRUCK....not a fast food place. Be patient as the food is freshly prepared and can take on average 20 minutes. You will be pleasantly surprised with great authentic Thai food. read more

So glad I finally tried this place, been threes time now and it has become a near weekly staple. The portions are very generous and the pricing is *perfect*. The (presumably) couple who run it are very courteous and clearly care about their work and want me to have a great experience. The food is delicious and the sauces and spice levels are about as non-Salem as you can get (a very good thing). With a simple menu, everything is a specialty and you can't go wrong. Very yummy rib meal. The ribs are nice and meaty with a wonder smoke and Asian flavor. The dipping sauce is tangy and has a nice heat that comes on instantly. The papaya salad is awesome and has lots of peanuts, cherry tomatoes and a nice addition to the ribs. The owners are very friendly and service is great. Remember this is a food cart and can run out of food early. I got there a little after 5 pm and they were almost out. That's a great sign! The owners had some ribs cooking and were done just in time. Great food, convenient place and great service. This is probably my favorite Thai place in Salem. Everything is always freshly made and I got better service than I get at most restaurants! The man I ordered from is helpful, friendly and on the ball catered to all of my needs while helping many others as well. I have Eaten there once and pick up once both are fast and great food.
