We came across this place after checking some tiny homes. It's amazing! The spring rolls were perfectly fired, the rice was right on, the pork ribs were super tender, and other pork dish was a flavor explosion. The owners are super sweet. They suggested their Thai version of an Arnold Palmer, delish! I'm so glad to hear that the cart laws have changed in Salem because I will be going back the next time I'm in town! read more

I work in in a nearby business park and have popped over to Big Blue Thai a couple times for lunch. I always get the coconut shrimp appetizer and the tofu salad which are excellent. The shrimp are of great quality and so delicious that I wish I was able to eat a meal of them. The tofu salad is flavorful (note that the medium spicy is still fairly spicy). The best part of this Thai place is the couple who runs it. They are extraordinarily friendly so I feel instantly welcomed whenever I drop by. The actual kitchen is a food cart and the dining area consists of outdoor seating but I think these factors add a fun spin to the spot as a whole. read more

Delicious!! Tried the #1 combo and the coconut shrimp.....soooooo good! The sauces that come with the ribs and pork were phenomenal! My husband and I split the two and are stuffed. Very authentic, some Northern Thai dishes that are very good, a nice change from your standard Pad Thai. If you've never tried green papaya salad theirs is one of the best I've had. The owner is very nice and willing to guide you through your dish selections. read more

I finally made my way to Big Blue a couple days ago and it was well worth it. The customer service was warm and inviting and the food was excellent. I believe I arrived shortly after the lunch rush as they were sending an employee out to grab fresh vegetables. As someone who has worked in restaurants I know this is a trying time of the day as you're balancing stragglers like myself and preparing for the dinner crowd, but the quality, freshness, and aesthetics weren't compromised in the least. I ordered the number 3, tasty Thai grilled pork with white rice and cucumbers. That sauce that came with it was out of this world. I highly recommend Big Blue! read more

I've been in Salem for 3+ years, and this is by far some of the best food in town. The food truck provides pleasant outdoor seating for dining in, also great for food to go. The #1 combo meal is an absolute must, gives you rubs, BBQ park, and the spicy but refreshing papaya salad. The staff are extremely friendly and kind, and the food is incredibly savory. Definitely go easy when they ask you how spicy you want, they aren't messing around! The "medium" packs about the same heat as Tabasco or similar hot sauce, so only go hotter if you know what you are doing! Seriously great food, don't miss this food truck! read more

Delicious! I live in Portland and had errands south of there today. I stopped in for lunch and was impressed with everything we tried. My son was with me and we tried different things and shared taste tests. Nice people, but overpriced. The food was disappointing. I paid $20 for a salad and some salad rolls and had to wait more than an hour to be served. This place is amazing. Food on wheels has only tasted this good once before. I had the pork salad, my friend had the tofu salad. They both took some time to make, but the results were fabulous. This was an unexpected surprise. The big blue cart stands out but I've. It had much luck with good Thai food from a food cart. We had the number one platter, the Thai curry and fried spring rolls. The combo was good overall. The baby back ribs were tasty on their own but the dipping sauce that cane with it made it spicy and irresistible. The papaya salad was equally delicious. The only downside was the smoked pork was a bit on the dry side but again the dipping sauce that came with it made quite tasty. The fried spring rolls were near perfect in balance of keeping the light flavors I like about spring rolls without the fried shell making it to heavy. Again the dipping sauce that came with these only made the rolls better without covering the flavors. My absolute favorite dish was the Thai curry. The perfect blend of spice and comfort to warm me up on a cold, blustery, and wet night. The service was prompt and friendly. Will definitely go again. read more
