The French toast did not disappoint! Four large slices of toast, with just the right amount of sugar and spices. The sunnyside up eggs were straightforward but the bacon was perfection! Deliciously crispy even an hour after for take out, but not dried out or charred. Is everyone taking notes? This is the way bacon is meant to be! Giving a 1 star for not being open during posted hours. It's Saturday and they should be open from 7-2pm and it's 11:30 now. It was a hard to find place! Update: received a rude and unprofessional reply to my review from a rep of this establishment. I specifically stated the 1 star was just for not being open during posted hours and they didn't post their vacation hours on Yelp. They stated it's posted on their FB page. How is it my job to look up their hours on every social media site to see if they're still on vacation on January twelfth? He definitely could've delivered his message in a more professional and pleasant manner....I would've been happy to update my review. Happy New Year! When I ordered from Door dash I was really upset because I had two meals missing. After notifying door dash and receiving my money back, 30 minutes later a hear my door bell. Come to find out, it was the owner with the other two orders plus more. This was a real turn around. I was looking for a place to have breakfast and this quaint little place is a gem was amazing!!! My husband ordered the big Ross special 3egg omelette that was ridiculously delicious and I ordered French toast with eggs and bacon. Omar was wonderful ensuring our food was fast fresh and hot. The cafe has just reopened after remodeling! Anyway, thanks to Yelp for helping me discover this place because I never would have found it on my own. You arrive, sign your name to the clipboard, and wait in line for a seat. The food is worth the wait and I dig the small business/off the beaten path vibe. Pancakes and waffles topped with fresh fruit and whipped cream, plus the omelet with avocado is great! The serving staff are nice people as well. Was in the area and decided to give Big Daddy's a try. Hard to find. When you drive across the railroad tracks into the marina, turn left past the boat launch and thru a gate that looks like it protects a restricted area; that's what confused me. Then turn right and turn right again Big Daddy's is located straight ahead. Parking is free, unmarked and eclectic. The dining room is very small and busy. Lots of people standing around waiting for a table and take out. There are tables outside but it was cold today, so no takers for those. I was alone and sat at the 4 seat counter. The prices on the Yelp menu are outdated and are about 33% less than what they charge now. But the portions are still generous. I ordered a 3 egg ham, mushroom, cheese and avocado omelette which came w/toast and hash browns for $9.50. The omelette was browned (which I consider overcooked) but didn't smell of burnt egg which was ok. The ham and mushrooms were diced and the omelette was topped w/a whole small sliced avocado. Total cost including coffee, tax & tip was $14. Reasonably priced but not a bargain. Service was quick; has to be to keep the food coming and the tables turning over. My coffee cup was never empty; helped that I was sitting at the counter in front of the coffee pot but the staff made regular coffee runs around the room. There wasn't anything particularly "special" about Big Daddy's, so I can't say that I'm a fan but it is a perfectly acceptable diner where you can have breakfast. They don't start serving lunch until 1030. I was there b4 then but assume their burgers and sandwiches are comparable in quantity and quality to what I got for breakfast. Worth trying to find if you're hungry and in the area but don't think it's worth a special trip to eat there. read more

My family and I were just exploring the area, looking for a place to walk and enjoy. We saw this cafe tucked back by the docks and figured we would try it out. When I think of breakfast food I honestly feel like it's all the same everywhere mostly. Gravy is gravy. Pancakes are pancakes. Hash browns bacon blah blah blah. I was F ing wrong. Sooooo very wrong. It's amazing, I was sad when my food was gone......so I finished my wife's food. And then my sons. Lol. We met the owner Ross, he was our waiter. I'm trying to figure out how have I not reviewed this place yet seeing as how I've visited it multiple times in the last several months. I have tried everything from your average breakfast to their steak and eggs. Everything is fresh and well cooked every time. There is always a long wait on weekends which is when I go, but it's worth it. I also think the prices are affordable for the amount of food you get and for the quality. They also advertise other local businesses on the tables and throughout the establishment which I appreciate. They recently renovated. I haven't had a chance to see how it looks yet but they must be doing well to renovate! Not that it looked bad before but still. Great food and friendly service! read more

Awesome, food is better than you'd expect. The prices are reasonable and the wait staff is good. Hours are unreliable, sometimes the gate to get too the restaurant is locked. And the menu is pescatarian friendly with the salmon omelette(every breakfast spot should have a salmon omlette). I really enjoy it. The waffle is divine- I hate the whole thing. Yes, it's small. Very small. Yes, it's casual. Very casual. And, yes, it's out of the way. Way out of the way. So far out of the way, it might as well be invisible. But those things are a part of its charm. For those of us who love the place, we wouldn't have it any other way. Unless you already knew about Big Daddy Ross's Cafe, you would have no way of finding it on your own. It's located all by itself at the McAvoy Yacht Harbor in Bay Point. I grew up in the area and had no idea it existed until I stumbled across it by chance on a Google map (looking for something else). I said to myself, what's that? A restaurant at the yacht harbor? No way. Well, way. Apparently, a cafe has been there for some forty years, and the present owners have been running it for the last twenty or so. Not bad for a place that's practically hidden and has no Web site. Anyway, the food is great: delicious, plentiful, and reasonably cheap. And the service is superb. The owner and staff are wonderful people, everybody's friendly; it's a family enterprise where everybody is family. The only drawback: It's just open for breakfast and lunch. But that's enough. What a great find! I can't believe I haven't noticed this place pop up on my search before. We haven't heard of Big Daddy Ross's before but we'll be back! We were greeted with friendly faces, good service, and a great hometown diner feel. We couldn't decide what to order so we all got a variety of things. Disappointed. We were excited to try this place based on the reviews, we expected a whole lot more than what we got. Being new to the area, we rely heavily on YELP for some suggestions and boy, did it fail big time. We were a party of 5 (3-A & 2 -C). In all fairness, we probably went at their busiest time (Sunday at 11:15am) and we were told that it would be a 25-30 min wait, but we understand that, that is not always reliable. Almost an hour later we finally got our seat, but it took an additional 15 min to be acknowledged. Finally we got our drinks and our order taken, but after watching 2 tables receive their food before us (even though we ordered first) we got the attention of the waiter to ask where our food was! He went to check and said our food was on the griddle. A few minutes after that another table (seated after us) got their food as we still waited. 10 min later we finally got some toast! It took 50 minutes, before we got our toast! Are you kidding me??? Our food literally came out in intervals! About 5 min later our kids 2 pancakes came out. A few minutes after that my son's side of sausage came. A few minutes later 1 order came out, than when my order came out it had a huge hair sticking out of the bacon. They came back within a minute with the same plate and only "new bacon" ! I asked if it was the same plate and she said yes, but new bacon. She did ask if I wanted a new plate, but she didn't know how long it would take. After over an our later of waiting I just opted to eat the eggs, but the bacon was a no go. After all this time my sons waffle came out! This will be the only time we come and will not be back. The servers were nice, but they are all over the place, so no real ownership from 1 server. 2 1/2 hours later we finally left. Tbh, the food was equal to Denny's but with thicker bacon. This s a real and honest review, but if you decide to go anyways, hopefully you have better luck. read more

To start with, we all know that Yelp reviews can be waaay off, but the overall high ratings that BDRC has received really push the limits! The restaurant is located in a small very basic building in the back of a dirt parking area in a second , or third, rate marina that houses a lot of derelict and "seen better days" boats, many of which can be seen from a few parts of the restaurant. I cannot really believe that anyone but the owner would consider this a desirable "view". The place looks kind of "thrown together", providing a mish-mash of poorly conceived seating, and this is not the sign of a good restaurant. We sat outside and the very limited menus were left on the table. Opening up the menus we saw one page had almost only various types of chicken sandwiches and a BLT while another page had various hamburgers. The other pages offered a few omelettes, a basic pancake, and a basic waffle ($5) that they called a Belgian waffle, where you could add some fresh fruit for another $2.25. They were out of the blueberries so I just ordered the regular "Belgian" waffle which is supposed to be lighter and crisper, and, usually, sweeter than normal waffles, but it was just a normal waffle with a sprinkle of powdered sugar, not even as good as a frozen waffle. My son ordered the double bacon cheeseburger (around $12.50?) and after seeing the dark well-done burger served nearby I told him to ask for it medium rare. He forgot to specify so he also received two unjuicey well-done patties, along with cheese that was not melted and a watery low-grade tomato slice equating to a grade of D for the burger and an F for the cook. It came fries which were average. My daughter and wife ordered the omelettes (about $10 - $14) which were just the ingredients listed mixed with the eggs in an omelette shape. That is not an omelette. It really is more of a scramble, and they reported that the flavors were not good, and that the hash browns tasted as though cooked in older oil. Also, two chunks of ham were included in the vegetarian omelette, so, again the feeling was that the food was a D at best and the cook an F, so neither quality nor value. Except for the fairly pleasant and well-meaning waitresses, I really do not know how anyone with eyes and a palate could find this to be a good dining destination at any level. It really makes me wonder if many of the reviews were somehow provided by the restaurant itself as even most people who do not really know food would know enough to spend their dining dollar elsewhere. I have not posted a review before, and would usually just not return rather than criticize a sorry establishment, but in this case I really felt that it was necessary to inform the public who might, otherwise, just go by the rating stars as I did in this case. read more
