Is this place gonna stay open? I came here on a Saturday night, and I was the only customer from the moment I entered to the moment I left. Well....if I said I thought closing this place would be a loss to the community, that would be a lie. I got the loco moco. I gotta say, you guys have some cajones calling yourself a Hawaiian joint and using bland ground meat for your loco moco, truly a courageous decision from the owner. Is it that difficult to afford or make a patty? For some reason, if I look up loco moco on Google images, I just can't seem to find one that looks like this. LMAO The macoroni salad is alright. I must've been living under a rock though because I didn't realize this macoroni salad was famous. Finally, the rice seems like a slightly shorter grain than you would normally use for loco moco maybe? Is this....rice for sushi? It's a tad too sticky for my preference. It both looks and tastes like cafeteria food. Although, to be fair, it'd be good cafeteria food. As someone in the military, I can report that I've had worse food than this in the galley. Lol Okay, the fried eggs are good. But I can make that. Actually, I could make this entire meal, but better. Well okay, I'd have to buy the macaroni salad.....but that's what you guys did too, right? You know, maybe it's my fault. The cashier did say that their teriyaki chicken was the most popular item, but I didn't order that. Although, my standards for any Asian-coded chicken is higher than most other food, so I somehow doubt I would've been satisfied. The OMG IPA is good I guess. In recent years, I dislike most IPAs. Like, I'm not categorically opposed to bitter beer, but I feel like most IPAs are just bitter without much other flavor. This one balances that with some strong fruitiness. I find the balance enticing. This could be a passable space to get a beer and socialize with other people......if there were any.

KalbiBeef is one of my favorite plates, but chef sometimes gives us a string of fat without meat. Let's see how they do today. WOW my plate looks amazing I'm so happy

I would give them another shot. I am not thrilled with this type of French fries (they have a battered texture) but they were piping hot. The pulled pork was somewhat dry in spite of the sauce. The staff was friendly and there was a chill vibe with some Pulp Fiction and tiki bar themed decorations.

sat down, eating by myself at the bar service was great not too much just enough. Food was good. Price was reasonable would definitely come back.

Was hungry leaving Imprrial Beach and stumbled upon Big Kahunas. The waitresses were both very nice and the serving sized are huge for a very reasonable price! I ordered the sweet and spicy chicken bowl. The chicken was very tasty and the sauce on top was good, but too much was poured on top and it had my rice drowning in it at the bottom. It was enough for me to take home for later. The main things I did not like when eating in the establishment were the amount of flies inside constantly landing on me or my food. Also, the men's toilet in the bathroom was out of order. I'm not sure how they would address that since there was also a women's bathroom.

This might be one of my favorite spots in IB, but I don't go there often enough. The Mac salad is always good. It's not super wet and sugary (like supermarket kind) but it has the cold and refreshing crunch to it. I usually get the Spicy Aki Rice Bowl. You get a good amount of chicken, not too little, good amount of rice (not overwhelming amount). The sauce is really good with the chili flakes, it's really good. Plus, this is where you can get cans of Hawaiian Sun...

Ordered to go. Service was good. We waited about 10/15 minutes for our order to be ready. It was delicious and filling. My husband did wish there was more steak on his plate but overall everything we ordered had a good flavor. We will order from here again.

The interior has a casual, island vibe. The staff is friendly but service was slow. We were the only table at the time but had to wait a very long time to have our order taken. Thankfully, the food was good and fresh. We may or may not be back...

My Hawaiian go-to place to satiate my islander cravings. The flavors remind me of family parties from back in the day. The server/hostess was very kind and helpful in every way. Unfortunately did not get her name, but the receipt said "Server #8". Major kudos to you for handling all the customers and orders--impressive multi-tasking skills! You deserve a raise!

Feels and tastes just like home! It's got a family-friendly, laid-back and welcoming environment. They're short-staffed but it has no effect on their customer service. Went for a late breakfast and you can never go wrong with a typical Hawaiian breakfast - spam, eggs and rice. It was perfect to me.

The ambiance was cool. It's a fun family spot that's well lit and ventilated. Their was one waitress who was laid back and friendly. The food was "okay". Cheesy stic appetizer was essentially a bunch of melted mozzarella on not so great do and w/o marinara sauce. The Mahi plate fish was very bland. My husband had the Kalbi plate which he voiced was pretty good. The macaroni salad was AMAZING

I will say, the guy who took our order was very nice, so no complaints at all about the service. Unfortunately, the food was really disappointing. We both ordered the El Swagador burger and neither of us liked it. The meat lacked seasoning, and the pork belly tasted off to both of us. I ordered mine without the serrano chilies (thank goodness), because my boyfriend kept them on his and said it was way too spicy to even enjoy. I also ordered an Oreo milkshake, but it was pretty bland and lacked flavor. The only things we actually enjoyed were the onion rings and fries. For almost $100 total, we left feeling like we completely wasted our money -- especially paying $26 per burger and not even finishing half of them. The restaurant also didn't feel very clean and lacked any atmosphere or vibe. I really don't enjoy leaving negative reviews, but unfortunately this experience missed the mark for us and needs a lot of improvement. Sadly, we won't be back.

I came down here because I have a friend from up north who's come down here a few times and suggested this place. He said it's one of his favorite places when he's in town, so that's saying a lot if it's a top place for him and the family. He was right. This was a juicy and incredibly tasty burger. I'd say it's up there with Amboy in Chinatown (Los Angeles) or the newer Amboy spot at Haven City Marketplace in Covina. This place is a gem. Ordering can be a little misleading; hence minus one star. This is a food court setup, and there are menus for each restaurant in these individual stands that are placed on top of a snack wall. If you're going to order from Rey TJ Burgers, it'll be to the left of the main restaurant/register that's directly in front of you when you enter. The main line is Mexican (and seafood I believe?), so I was standing for a while until a lady realized I was holding the Rey TJ burger and called me over. Ordering was easy. Rey TJ's didn't have drinks, so I hard to order from the Mexican food line. The cucumber aqua fresca was AMAZING. Definitely one of the best experiences since I've had since I've moved to the San Diego area. I'm loving it here more and more. I've also had the opportunity to practice a lot of Spanish which I absolutely appreciate. The people here are amazing and much warmer than many of the parts of Los Angeles. Buen dia!

It's a food court with its own shared parking lot. When we went in there was a huge line to the door. As you go up the line, there are multiple menus placed to your left in which they have multiple different food options to choose from. Gave me anxiety as I felt rushed coming here for the first time. A line gathering up behind us, ppl in front of me, didn't want to be rude reaching over ppl to grab the menus. So just waited as we moved up to look at them. There's so many options it's overwhelming. Once we got to the front, we were trying to place our order only to find out we waited in line for nothing. The burger line was the empty line to the left which there's no signage or nothing to explain. We did order 1 adobada taco, a horchata, & a sprite. The girl forgot my sprite, told me to go order in the left line for burgers. So when I was placing our burger order, I asked for the sprite I never received. The cashier for burger spot said I have to go back into the other line to order that. Confusing af. Luckily it had 2 customers & not a line out the door like when we first arrived. I ordered the smoked brisket burger, my son the Russel cheeseburger, & my hubby the "burgers & fries." My son did not touch his burger, literally went to waste. My husband said his was ok. As for my brisket burger, I did not like mine at all. It was super salty. It came with a meat patty & CHUNKS of cubed brisket? When I got smoked brisket I assumed it would've been like a pulled pork texture. Quite the opposite. They were chunks of cubed meat. I didn't finish mine. We took everything to go & didn't eat the leftovers once home. We paid around $50 for some less than mediocre burgers that I could've done better at home. I liked that the food court had a self serve salsa bar with plenty of salsas, ingredients, etc. The presentation of the food was good! But the food just wasn't it for us. Probably would never return tbh. Also, when we were wrapping up - the server was hovering over us to finish so she could take the boards/fry basket back. Not like we're gonna steal them. Lol. But I get it, maybe previous patrons have put them near the trash or thrown them away. As the burger place may be its own individual business aside from the food court.
